I have treasured the 1st & 15th of each month during the year, because that meant a new verse and a new entry. But really I just love how much this has encouraged me to truly know the word of God and have it engraved upon my heart. I love how His word will pop into my mind at certain moments…He’s talking to me!! ❤️❤️

During sleepless nights my mind is settled by repeating my verses. This has been an amazing experience. I have been in love with God and His Word for more than 20 years; this has been a much needed part of that relationship and I hope to keep at scripture memorization throughout next year and beyond! So thankful for SSMT!

    Colleen says:

I have had a difficult year and have been late with my verse almost every time, neither do I know how many of the verses I will be able to remember. (A guest host suggested journaling why you choose each verse and this was most helpful and revealing(!), but the most wonderful thing was when God Himself would lead me to just the right verse for that moment in time. And I hope to continue meditating on two verses a month in 2016. I did struggle with logistics with downloads on video days, but it was worth it.)

And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. John 14:29 ESV

This is my favorite chapter in the Bible and I have been blessed to just repeat over-and-over the promises of Jesus that He is God, He will give believers the Holy Spirit to work in us, and reminding us if we love Him we will keep his commands. So, so good! Thank you, Beth, for doing this as having these deadlines every month and an end goal helps with the discipline of memorizing.

I am claiming this verse! I have gone thru a divorce this past two years since the last memory verse celebration. I thought I was going to die from the heart ache and pain and wanted to give up so many times, but this is my testimony I am still here and God’s word is alive and active in me. Did I mention I did Believing God twice this year!!!lol I can’t wait for January my 4th trip for the SSMT. Celebration.

“The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” Psalm 29:11 NIV

We made it, sisters! All 24 verses. Let our hearts smile! While my memory is not as good as it once was, I found these verses strengthened and encouraged me throughout the year, even if I could not remember them word for word. Instead of making resolutions for the new year, I chose a focus for the year. My focus for 2015 was self-discipline as it applied to my thoughts, words & actions (and reactions). So I tried to choose verses to support that focus. Praise God for His Word that changes our hearts and lives. He continues to change me day by day. I am humbled and so very grateful! (When I chose Psalm 29:11 as my 24th verse, I had no idea it would sum up my “testimony” — and so perfectly!)

    Linda Nelson says:

    Linda Nelson – Shreveport, Louisiana

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Be still and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

    Psalm 46: 1,7,10

As a young child many years ago scripture memory was part of my church and home discipline. Although I did not continue to memorize the Word as a young and middle adult, His Word never left me and was a source a strength and encouragement. I am thankful for God’s prompting through my accountability group and Beth’s leadership to return to scripture memorization. I love, as Beth said, to chew on those words, ponder on their meaning and apply them to my life in my service to Him. God’s Word is perfect, true and pure and does not return empty. Through His Word I have shared the love of Christ with hurting people and have prayed His Word with them. His Word heals, comforts and is a source of pure JOY to all who will listen, trust and obey!

I picked my verses because they were things I needed to be reminded of and confident in but time after time I found someone in my community who could be encouraged by them as well. I was so encouraged that not only I was encouraged by them but others needed to hear them as well. I’m so grateful that the word of the Lord is living and active!

This has been a great discipline this year. I tried to choose verses from sermons or books I was reading at the time so that I would remember the topic and then keep learning. God has used it to strengthen me , give me more of His joy, and to look to Him. As I looked back over the 24 verses, it was fun to see what I chose when. They were each significant. As 2015 draws to a close, it is encouraging to think how His word has clearly been in me this year. Hoping to do this again next year!

As I look back over my collection of verses I now have, I am struck by the fact that each one offers a separate, specific, important lesson for living a life honorable to God. Any time I am downtrodden, when I lose my way, or need a reminder of God’s love, I have a ready-made assortment of proverbs to help me refocus. Wow! That is very cool, and I couldn’t imagine a better present for Christmas!

What a challenge and what a JOY this year of Scripture memorization has been! Thank you, Beth, and most of all…thank You, Father! One of my verses (from February) jumped into my heart and mind yesterday–Romans 15:13. I sat with the Lord pondering it. It became SO rich and full to me. I prayed it over each family member and my friends–what a sweet blessing! Then last night, a sweet friend gave me a little “Hope” plaque and on the back…Romans 15:13! And in the list of verses above me, I see two other Siesta Sisters memorizing that verse. Some might say, what a coincidence. No! Through His precious Word, I have felt such a closeness to Him, to Almighty God! I know HE cares for me and His gentle reminders feel like a loving hug from the One who loves and cares for me.
