This is my first year to do SSMT. It has been amazing to see how God’s word has taken root in my life. I have found that when Satan starts poking me with those thoughts that are not of God, I can divert my mind by pulling any of the scriptures I have memorized. I have also used some of the scriptures to pray over my children. The very first scripture I chose was to pray over my daughter and her new husband who married in January 2015. What confirmation that the Word is alive!

    Luke 1: 46-56 NIV

And Mary said: My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me – holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.

On Nov. 22 our neighbor was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off and the bullet entered our home. Praise God we where in a different room and His hand of protection was over us. The bullet traveled through a door and several walls. I was so thankful for God’s protection but wrestling with a great deal of fear every time I entered that room. Bethany’s post was a God send on December 1st and that verse has brought me such peace as I’ve written His words on my heart. Thank you Bethany, for sharing your story!

Well Sisters, It’s been an incredible journey, so much so that I think I inadvertently wrote a book of sorts over the past twelve months. How does one end a journey like this except to break out into songs of praise and thanksgiving. My verse happens to encourage just that. And following the verse is a song which reflects the depths of this incredible journey through the word in 2015. All my love to each of you.

Verse- Let the message (word) of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Colossians 3:16 (NIV and emphasis from ESV)

Song-The Twelve Months of Training (to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas, of course)

In the first month of Training (SSMT) my true love gave to me,
A Call to Hear the Word of God Speak.
In the second month of Training (SSMT) my true love gave to me,
2- Two Depths of Love and A Call to Hear the Word of God Speak.

    And so on…

    3-Three Purposed Postures
    4-Four Splendid Riches
    5-F-I-V-E G-O-L-D-E-N S-T-R-E-N-G-T-H-S
    6-Six Reassurances
    7-Seven Shields for Shelter
    8-Eight Revelations
    9-Nine Takes-on-Trusting
    10-Ten Meditations
    11-Eleven Ways of Wisdom
    12-Twelve Grateful Offerings

How can I not sing the praises of God Almighty!

It has been a hard year to do SSMT because of a form of brain surgery I had in mid January. It kept me in the word and focused on God and all his blessings and goodness. I fear because my memory struggled (and still does) that I have not memorized as good as in past years , but I stuck with it and slowly as time went on it got better. My self confindance was shook to the core and this has helped me so much. Thank you Beth and staff for all you do for us. Love you and Merry Christmas to all SSMT

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

For past three months of 2015, I’ve been memorizing verses 13-18 of Ephesians 6 which is praying on The Full Armor of God. I’ve prayed this many times even on a daily basis but God has shown new meaning and life while memorizing it over the past few months. So blessed by God’s Word every time I study it.

What a glorious year as it is the first (of many to come) with the SSMT and look forward to how God will use this tool to share love, grace and encouragement throughout my lifetime.

Grateful to Beth & SSMT for their encouragement & support!

What a year of trials, blessings, and learning how to persevere! I have never taken memorizing the scriptures seriously before and wow I felt so deserving of that confetti Beth!! I have already seen glimpses of His word that is hidden in my heart accomplishing its purpose in my life. Praise the LORD! My final verse is one I have struggled to accept and live by, that He cares for me watchfully. Silly me. How much more does he need to do for me to truly believe him! Praising him for teaching me his word and changing me in the process.
“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”

To the only God my Savior be GLORY, MAJESTY, POWER & AUTHORITY, through Jesus Christ my Lord, before all ages, now and FOREVERMORE! Amen! Jude 25

This was a 12 month journey that I thought I would not follow through with…much like so many other great things I think I am going to do that will help my faith grow. I knew that memorizing God’s Word and meditating on HIS TRUTHS would help replace the old junk that would come up when I would experience challenges. It has done just that! By God’s grace, it is first nature now for me to turn to God and HIS TRUTH when I am in the midst of a challenging situation!
I am so very grateful to Beth Moore and the SSMT blog that was a constant source of encouragement and accountability! So, thank you Beth and siestas!!! I love you all dearly!!!

What a blessing this past year has been. Life has not dealt me the most wonderful hand, but God has been faithful. I know that he has used these Scriptures to build me up and prepare for me the path that I have walked this past year. Through all the loss, conflict and difficulty I have had a better awareness of the Spirit in me. And I know that his Spirit has spoken to me through the verses that I have memorized. I look back and can see a pattern and theme of areas that I know God is trying to grow me. I know that these are areas that God is trying to sanctify me, and I believe that I have grown and matured in these areas over the course of this past year. It’s so exciting to see God move in and through me.
