Ladies! I think a Friday afternoon deserves a celebration. We’ve almost made it through the entire work week! Woo hoo! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a red Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I absolutely love the beautiful colors of the leaves & thedry, crisp air. I am registering for the Le Cruset pot. Thank you so very much for your generosity, for the chance to win such wonderful gifts. Christy Nall
I love fall! My favorite thing is watching the trees turn their bright colors. I am constantly pointing them out in AWE! Our God is amazing and loves us so much!
I love the golden hills; the geese flying overhead; the cooling breezes; cozying up under clean sheets and an added new blanket to keep warm at night and most of all I love all the colors of fall since they are in my color palet.
I love Fall because here in Florida there is no more humidity and I can have pretty hair again ! ( at least for a few months ) Lets face it, I pretty much bake year round, and cook year round, so anything new would be fabulous !!!!
I LOVE FALL! Where I live in Northwest Indiana the leaves turn beautiful colors, the air is crisp and perfect for a run down the bike trail. Fall brings Bon fires with family, s’mores and hot cider. All things I look forward to. It is the perfect break between our hot summers and snowy winters.
Love all the brillant colors and brisk temps.
Tina Harlow:
There is just something about the sunshine in the fall. It seems to shine at just a slightly different angle, making things appear crisp and fresh after the brutal, and sometimes, hazy summer sun. It reminds me that it’s a new season, a chance to take a look at my life with a fresh new angle as well and be grateful for all my blessings!
I love the colors in nature.
Fall is my favorite time of year. I love when the weather gets cooler and comfort foods abound in my kitchen. I love the colors of the leaves and when the sun shining through the red maple in my front yard turns my whole living room pink. I like to get cozy with my man as we sit by the fire pit and drink warm apple cider. I just love fall!
What I love most about fall is cooking fall foods!
I love the snuggliness of fall.
My favorite things about fall is driving through leaves on the country roads I live on. I love watching them swirl all around and their beautiful colors are a constant reminder of God’s love for us.
I just submitted a comment & am not sure if it went through. So please know I am not trying to register twice. I love the colors of the leaves & the dry, crisp air. I am registering for the Le Cruset pot. Thank you all for the chance to win such wonderful gifts and your generosity. Love you in Christ. Christy Nall, Fayetteville, AR
Love Albuquerque Balloon fiesta and the smell of green chiles roasting!
Fall is my favorite season of the year! Love, love, love the cooler temps and the lower humidity; makes me want to actually get in the kitchen and cook up some comfort food. Fall also ushers in the start of the holiday season and more time to spend with family and friends celebrating God’s gracious goodness to us all!
L love Fall because of the beautiful coloured leaves on the trees or falling to the ground.
I love Fall because my sister in law makes the most fabulous pumpkin bread for me!
Wendy Berenson
I love the fall because it starts the season of warm family gatherings, expressing our thankfulness for having a great God, loving Him and each other, and then celebrating the birth of His Son, our Lord and Savior. Fall is also a time to remember those we lost and still miss terribly, and to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community by spending time serving those less fortunate. jAnd of course, to watch our little ones make their list, check it twice, then mail it to Santa. My 9 and 5 year old daughters are already debating what dessert they will leave for Santa this year.
Chili, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, the firey yellow tree in my backyard, and that Christmas is coming!
You two are beautiful! I like that we start a new Biblestudy in the Fall!
I love the smell of fall. The crispness in the air and oh the sound of the leaves crunching underfoot! I also love getting all my scarves out. They are the new turtleneck.
Wonderful fall! I love getting to have fires in our fireplace and cozy up with our soft blankets. 🙂
I love Fall because my husband, daddy, and daughter were all born in November. (And in MS, it doesn’t feel like Fall until then anyway.) I also love boots and caramel apple cider from Starbucks!
I love the gorgeous colors of fall as well as the cool crisp air, and college football! Fun times!
I love puppies that are frisky and ready to run after a slugguish hot summer, making enough apple pie for the whole neighborhood, and college football!
I love that the weather has finally cooled off – here in Louisiana we have a long hot summer and move from Fall to Winter with little change except for additional rain.
What I love about fall is the colors of the trees leaves.
I love the rich colors and cooler temps. I love all the stuff you’re giving away too!
I live in Ohio where we have beautiful fall the cool air and the leaves changing colors .i don’t think I could paint it the way God has.
Like you the cool weather bring me in the kitchen for a big pot of soup.
Thanks God Bless you
Judy Sizemore
I love what I’m doing right now… baking! Pumpkin chocolate chip bread in the oven.
The return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks!
I love fall because of the sound of stillness with a slight sound of ruffling leaves! It’s so calming!
Love these goodies u picked! Esp as a felllow lover of Le Cruset! & I love absolutely EVERYTHING about fall! :} Just finished a fantastic Hot Apple Cider while watching my tv which is practically smothered with fall decorations on top of it & the stand! Love baking up real pumpkin & finding new things 2 bake it n2, deciding which animal my almost 3 yr old will dress up as, & playing the color game with him outside as God paints a masterpiece in the leaves! Also how people pause more to recognize & reflect on all the vast blessings that are just poured out upon us in this country! Thankful for clean running water & good food which many people in the world just don’t have near the access to if they do @ all! 🙁 Also for all of u ladies & the encouragement & light you are to the rest of us! (Plus you even do help people overseas with those needs most of us take for granted here through Samaritans’s Purse!) Thank You!
I love fall because of all of the colors that The Lord has given us.
Fall for me is all about warm socks, sweaters, comfy blankets and a hot Chai tea latte in my hand. I love to watch the leaves changing colors and hear the rain falling. The wind whistling through a partially open window draws me to the room to listen with a smile on my face, my boys, grown men now, used to love this tradition. Fall is a warm time in my heart where I look forward to being with my family and cooking special treats and big holiday dinners. Truly fall is my favorite time of the year!!
The crisp air, moody skies, fall leaves & Lake Michigan all working together to remind me He is in control.
By day, I love how the sky changes to a more intense blue and how the trees use it as a backdrop as they take turns showing off their fall colors! By night, I love looking at the harvest moon while sitting around a campfire sipping a pumpkin latte!
I love Fall for the change – a new season in which things begin to pass on before their rest. Fall makes me excited for Spring! And Fall colors are my favorite – my house looks Fall-ish year round.
Heidi~Lindale, Texas
I LOVE the ground fog that lays low in the fields and the fog over the lake on those first cool fall mornings. Being from Minnesota, I sometimes squint and pretend it is snow. It just makes me praise the Lord for His incredible creativity!
I also love making any and every kind of soup I can think of. Yum!
Fall is a great reminder of God’s love and faithfulness. The leaves falling are a reminder of all the blessings God provides in my life. Thank you Lord for salvation. Thank you for the crisp weather and awesome sunset.
I love fall because I’m rewarded each year with the faithfulness of the Lord, who brings me time and time again through too-hot, way-too-humid summers, into the cooling balm of chilly autumn days and nights. Blissful relief.
I love the smells, the colors, the cooler air (when it gets here) and the PUMPKIN flavors…..welcome FALL!
I love the first crisp cool nights and brilliant blue skies with the gorgeous fall colors the trees in North Carolina display. More than anytime of the year nature proclaims the glory of God in all His multifaceted beauty. Every tree seems ablaze with His majesty and power. Church choirs beginning to prepare their offerings of worship for the Christmas season fill the air with praises to the One who sent and the One who came to purchase our redemption. The breathtaking beauty God has allowed us in our fallen world to enjoy, give us glimpses of the glory that is yet to come. Praise His Name!
The best thing about fall is being able to watch college
football games. I absolutely love it! Can’t wait for the
LSU vs. Alabama game this week-end!.GO TIGERS!!!
I love fall because of the majestic beauty of God’s paintbrush. Amber, Red, Yellow trees. Nights bundled up by the bonfires. So amazing!
One of my fall favorites is taking a walk in the cool crisp air with colorful leaves turning in circles around my feet! Also, the fact that anything pumkin is an acceptable treat is awesome. I love baking pumpkin cheesecake!
My favorite thing about are all things pumpkin!! The smell and taste are the best!
I love fall’s cool weather. Time for layering clothes, boots, and soup, soup, soup!
Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the colorful leaves, cooler weather, and all things pumpkin!
I love fall because it is a time to remember what I am thankful for! Thanksgiving is a special time spent with our family. This evening, there was a beautiful sunset behind the falling leaves.
