DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I love fall because the display of God’s glorious creation is beautifully exhibited in the colorful leaves, the crisp & refreshing fall air after humid summer nights, and for the temperature to be cool enough to cuddle with my husband of 31 years! We married October 3, 1981 because we love the fall!
I live in MN and love fall because of the beauty God displays through the glorious colors in all the different kinds of trees. Was on a drive to tour a college with my teenage daughter, who was not exactly happy about going! The scenery was so amazing that I swore I would make the exact same road trip again sometime that weekend to really take in the awe of it all. So I grabbed a girlfriend after church on Sunday and drove until we found a place to park along the was. Nothing better than a girlfriend, God, good treats and a spectacular view!
I absolutely love fall because of the change in colors of the leaves! It’s such a beautiful reminder of God’s handiwork!
I just love fall! The colors, the smells, the crispness in the air.
I love fall because of the new start it gives us. Just like spring is for spring cleaning, fall feels like it helps us shed off all of our old, unnecessary behaviors. Just like the trees shed their leaves. Praise you Lord for the seasons!
Fall is my favorite season, from the brisk temperature to colors of the leaves. I love sitting by the fireplace with a fire crackling, a blanket, good book and at least one dog! Hot beverages are better in Fall. Sitting close to my best friend and husband on the couch! (One and the same person) Lastly I enjoy how when the leaves fall the natural tree screen behind my house seems to open up and I can suddenly peer deep into the woods to watch deer and other critters. Like my own nature channel compliments of Daddy!
Ah, FALL- I LOVE being able to move the summer clothes outta the way.
I LOVE the change of the air.
Although I enjoy hot weather, at this time of year, I LOVE not having to sweat BEHIND my knees. π
I love all things Fall…it’s my favorite time of the year.
I love the chill in the air. Fall is my favorite season, probably because this is my birthday month…. I will be “40” next week!
Football — because it makes my husband happy!!
the FALLing of the leaves invokes a need of a FALLing of my own.
I love the cooler temperatures and the colors. The air even looks different, cleaner somehow. Mostly, God’s paintbrush. A box of crayons doesn’t even come close to duplicating.
Fall is probably my favorite season! I love the colors, feel of the air, and it always makes me think of home!
I have always loved the cool air and colors of fall. This year I have found a new appreciation and love for a true fall season, as my husband and I left our home in Houston and moved to Northwest Arkansas. Little did I know last year during “The Law of Love” study in Houston, the Lord was working through Beth to prepare my heart for a change and such a precious new “season” of my life.
I love the changing leaves that demonstrate the love of God. I love the reminder that Advent is coming, a time to still my hear and rest in the loving arms of God.
I love Fall because it is the time of year that we celebrate one of my greatest blessings….the birth of my son, Chas.
Hi, I’m Barbara Owens and I love fall for the cooler temps, wearing winter clothes and boots, beautiful colors in the trees, being able to use the gas logs and the smell of a campfire.
I love EVERYTHING about fall but my favorite is THANKSGIVING! I love Thanksgiving with all that is in me. I spend the entire month noting the many things I am thankful for from erasable gel pens to my precious family to my Lord and Savior.
I love fall because I am a Thanksgiving person. Since today is November first, I just hung a “Give Thanks” flag outside our home. It is a constant reminder to me to always give thanks to God for the many blessings in my life.
I love looking at the colours of the leaves!! Fall family photos are the best! And I love the pumpkin scone at Starbucks!
I love the sights, sounds and smells of being on the Michigan State University campus on a fall home football game Saturday!! Crisp leaves underfoot and falling on Grand River, the smells of tailgating and fall leaves, the sounds of friends gathered, the Spartan marching band playing and the crowds cheering!! There is nothing better!!!
I absolutely love fall! It is the only time that I can get my favorite honey crisp apples and peppermint flavored creamer! Oh, and I just discovered pumpkin spice cream cheese, which makes everything so yummy.
Wow, what a generous giveaway! My favorite thing(s) about fall are the beautiful weather– when it gets a little cooler my husband and I enjoy camping, making s’mores, the pumpkin patch, decorating our home with fun fall decor, enjoying candy corn and pumpkin Reeses, making a simmer pot on the stove, cooking chili, soups and comfort foods! Most importantly, remembering what we’re thankful for and spending time with dear friends and family!
Thanks for the opportunity! π

I love the crisp-ness of fall and the brilliance of God’s creation displayed in the leaves; I also love that after a summer off, the Friday AM Women’s study I facilitate at my church resumes every September. I adore the women who attend and am so blessed every time a newcomer joins us. Nothing like digging deeply into the riches of God’s Word with my sisters in Christ of all ages. It always feels like a fresh start to my ministry each fall!!
I love fall because the trees are brave enough to be stripped of all their glory and still stand proudly.
I love the fall skies, the cloud formations, sunrises, sunsets, and harvest moon are captivating!
The opportunity to throw a giant marshmallow-like, over stuffed down comforter on the bed and snuggeling with my honey and the cat.
I love the Fall because it is such a nice break to FINALLY be getting rid of the intense Gulf Coast heat!
Stacey Kuszak
I am so not over PUMPKIN I could eat it, smell it breathe it all year round.
Sarah Dickerson
Toss up between bonfires and the changing leaves!
Jessica Dutcher in San Diego: I love the changing of the leaves, but that doesn’t happen much here in Southern California. I also love snuggling under warm blankets with the windows slightly ajar for cool air. Snuggle!
Thanks so much for sharing, Ladies. You’re such a blessing to us!

So far I am loving this giveaway! Y’all are so sweet to do this!
I love Fall not only for the change that it brings..but that the cooler weather draws my family back indoors where we gather together for game night. We break out the games once filled up on one of our favorite hot soups! This Sunday will be Hamburger Soup..I’ve been craving Pumpkin bars, too!! Mmmm..The whole idea of it warms my soul.
psst..I meant that my kids are drawn back “home”..I live alone and love it when they come visit (and bring my precious grand babies to love on, too). Thank God for family! God bless <3
I love the crisp air, the beautiful colors, the smell of leaves burning, and most of all I can start layering clothes! I feel so very blessed to be able to experience it all. Thank you, thank you Heavenly Father!
I love fall because there are so many occasions for family to get together!
I love everything about fall. The cooler weather, homemade soup on the stove, and Thanksgiving which is my absolute favorite holiday.
I love traveling in the fall!!! Because lets be real, East Texas is not known for fall :D.
Grabbing a hoodie, stopping at Starbucks, and taking a walk through Central Park as the leaves show the creativity of God… pretty much amazing!!! When I am home… I love the same thing, but in the 80’s π Ava Jordan
I enjoy seeing farmers harvesting crops; colorful Mums; beautiful, turning leaves; using the fireplace; hot soup. Praise God from whom all blessings flow…..
I love the Fall – the leaves, pumpkins and celebrating Thanksgiving! – so very much to be thankful for!
Hi Melissa and Beth,
What I love about Fall in Michigan is the beautiful changing of colors of the trees. I especially enjoying the changing colors when I am out kayaking! I love the crisp air, the birds that I fly out in front of you while kayaking and just being out in His creation. But the thing I enjoy most of all while kayaking in the fall is when I have a sister friend come with me; then it makes for a perfect day! How can you go wrong being in God’s creation and the conversation of a friend!
I’ve attached a couple of photos; it was my friends 1st time kayaking down a river; doesn’t she look like she is having fun! Enjoy!(thought I could attach….sorry)
So much love God’s encouragement though all of you there at LPM.
Blessing and love,
Chris D’Alecy
I love all the fall colors and spiced cider from Trader Joe’s. Thanks
Kristi Harris–I LOVE leaves turning, pumpkin candles, crisp fall nights, and football!
I love the smell and the feel of the air, open windows, beautiful colors with the sun shining through the trees, pumpkins, turkeys, the simplicity of the Thanksgiving season, ‘falling back’ an hour, wearing sweaters and scarves, and walking outside everyday.
Fall give me an appreciation for the changing of seasons. The cool weather with temp that are just about right (not to hot and not to cold). The beautiful blue skies and sunset that match the color of the changing leaves. Football games, Thanksgiving, the Christmas Season, Hot Chocolate and Chili are just of few of my favorite things.

I love the beautiful tapestry the Lord paints here in
Middle TN. Via the fall leaves. As I drove through East TN and over the mountains of NC to visit my family, the Lord and I had a moment just He and I as I bragged to Him about Himself. Like He doesn’t know. Oh and I love apple/spice anything……
Living in WV, I always get treated to a beautiful array of the leaves turning bright gold & orange before they finally give up & flutter to the ground. Then it’s so much fun to hear them crackle as I walk through the yard (& get ready to rake them up)!
Hey Melissa and Beth! Thank you for this great opportunity! All of these gifts look amazing! My favorite things about fall are the gorgeous colors and rediscovering all my sweaters and scarves that have been in hiding all summer!
I looove getting to finally wear my UGGs!!
Beth I love your blog thank you for taking time to encourage us with your love and updates about your life. God bless you. My favorite reason I love the fall are the way the sunsets in the evening the colors are so intense with yellows oranges reds and pinks mixed with the briskness in the air. They make me feel the love of my Heavenly Father arms around me in his beautiful creation that I can enjoy each and day. I love the Lord so much. Once again thank you for sharing Him with us in your studies. They are priceless!! Love Terri Brown
Fall is full of my absolute favorite colors and smells! Anything pumpkin baking in the oven, harvest candles and the smell of cool crispness in the air. (Is it weird to love the smell of a temperature) =) And I love falls colors. I got to drive through the rockies and the smokies last month and just Praised God with every new shade of leaf. Some I didn’t even know could exist so vibrantly!
Janette,
Not weird at all!!! You found a way to explain what I never have been able too. You most definitely can love the smell of a temperature or season and I do!!! God bless you!
I love the cool weather, flannel sheets and homemade soups and chili.
Fall makes me excited about the upcoming holidays and the chance of snow!
I am always in love with autumn, because that’s when God gets out his paintbox and really goes to town with the colors. Failing not to mention the brilliant colored leaves, His handiwork can be seen in all the vibrant mums, as well as the beautiful pumpkins and gourds. He changes the air temperatures and gets us ready to switch wardrobes to sweaters, velour, toed shoes, head and hand coverings, and especially flannel, fleece, and wool. I have more reasons to stay inside with a fire in the fireplace, and work on some quilting, while sipping spicy apple cider. Only a great God could have designed the changing of the seasons for our pleasure. He is so awesome!
My favorite thing about fall is fleece sweatpants and a fire in the fireplace. My kids love fall because they can rake and jump in the leaves that are all over the yard!
I love the crisp air in the morning! Sometimes I open the door just to take a deep breath – and then I have to close it right away because it’s so cold…
I love the change in colors, pumpkin any thing & the change in the weather….. God forever cemented it as my favorite last year when He brougjt me my little girl, Tenley. π
I love the quieting down of Fall after a busy Summer. And the smell of cookies baking and fresh apple cider. Love it, love it!
