DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I love fall for many reasons but mostly because I LOVE football! In college my friends said I would have a hard time finding a man who loves football as much as I, but God knew who He was preparing me for! This fall is particularly exciting because we get to spend it in Houston awaiting the birth of grandchild #3! Fall, faith, football, family! The best time of the year!
I love fall because it is so beautiful and full of fun filled family events with my husband and precious children! π
Tara Hollingsworth…I love, love this time of the year the very best because of the gorgeous colors, the cool fall air, EVERYTHING pumpkin π and yes, even some football!!
Melissa V-L
It’s definitely sleeping with the windows open and enjoying a cool, crisp breeze. Ahhhh!
Cheryl Barker
I love fall because it’s hot chocolate season once again! π
Lynn Utley. I LOVE Fall! The air is crisp and it makes me want to bake. And drink hot tea. And take walks through the leaves and bask in the glory in the Father’s colorful season. And it’s sooo cooling for those occur-without-warning hot flashes (grin). π
What a line-up!
Sadly, fall is almost over here in Minnesota. *sob* Our leaves have all fallen and the daytime highs are barely reaching 50. It definitely makes a girl want to cook – and bake. I think there’s a reason we eat so much bread in the winter.
All time favorite – apple pie. Is there anything better?
What I miss the most from my college autumns in Missouri – bonfires.
New favorite – running (new hobby) in cooler weather

I love fall colors!!
I love Fall because you can pull out your boots and cardigans again!!
Fall is my favorite season!! I love the colors and the crispness of the air. And the smells of yummy stuff baking. And breaking out my warmer clothes. And a cozy blanket and a good book. Love it all!
“I am so glad that I live in a world where there are falls.”
I am all about the fall – boots, scarf, smokey eyes, sweaters, coffee, and being able to cuddle up to a good book or movie. There is nothing like decorating your home for fall, the smell of fall, and sharing wonderful memories with family. It truly is one of the best times of the year!
One of the things I love about fall (and there are many) is the fact that it means that the holidays are right around the corner; not the mention the weather, leaves, crispness in the air, etc. I LOVE FALL!

I love fall because it means playoff baseball and the end of air conditioning here in Florida! Hallelujah!
Such cute things! The thing I like the most about fall is wearing my boots, and getting back to that ‘sweater body’ we all work so hard on π haha!
I love fall! I love the changing and the cooling off of everything, here @ Myrtle Beach we appreciate the cooling off period! I love love love the changing of the leaves and watching God’s artwork change before my eyes, my 9 year old son has always even as a baby had a fascination with the leaves and all the beautiful colors. Blessed to be in an area that I can experience all the seasons and enjoy them at their best!
My favorite part of fall here in New England is the beautiful display of color. It was breathtaking this year.
I love sleeping with the windows open and having to put another quilt on the bed. Roaring fires in the morning and a great cup of coffee.
Fall…Autumn…Orange, Brown, Red and Yellow; Crunchy Leaves and Pumpkins Galore-I could not love this time of year more. Celebrating my baby girl’s birthday and looking forward to the birth of our king. But first, we have candy seeking super-heros, witches, and fairies with delicate wings. Cozy sweaters, boots, and scarves for the football games and state fair-We are thankful these cooler months finally made it here! So, I will snuggle up with Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pinterest, and some soup or stew and relish the quiet moments brought by you.
I love the scent of cinnamon anything baking while I’m snuggled up on the couch with my daughter and her friends watching BBC movies or Anne of Green Gables.
I love all that is fall! I think perhaps being born at suppertime on Thanksgiving may have a little to do with it π
There is nothing quite like the chill in the air, the deep reds, burnt orange, and sunny yellow of the foliage on the trees, and the cinnamony smells inside peoples’ homes. It is truly magical.
I love that this month, we all focus on what we can be thankful for. We don’t spend time thinking about “getting”… rather, it’s all about “giving” to each other.
We pour over old cookbooks to honor our dear Grandma’s recipes for the upcoming holiday…
We excitedly await the arrival of our dearest loved ones, and closest friends.
We sneak that extra bite (or three) of that delicious pumpkin concoction… and it’s okay because of the smile that lingers afterward.
This is the season I love the most!
I’m Melene Sexton and I own a furry Winston too-a 2 year oldl golden retriever. LOVE him. I love the cooler weather this time of year-and the colors on the trees.
Love the colors of fall with all of the creativity that we see in the hands of God.Love the warm cozy sweaters and crockpot dinners in the cool of the evening.love that the change in season is a reminder that life is full of changing seasons and to embrace them all as The Lord gives them as blessings and lessons of great importance..Lori

Best thing about fall: THE COLOR (Orange, rust, goldenrod). It’s finally the time of year when my wardrobe can actually complement my copperish colored hair.
I LOVE the chance to enjoy God’s creation outside without sweat and bugs!!! Love the sense of family and togetherness that comes along with football season and holidays and just the “air” of celebration that we feel!!!! Celebration of life!!!!
I really love Fall when the temperatures go mild. It’s really hot in Oklahoma, and stays hot sometimes til Thanksgiving, but it’s been very nice here lately. I also am enjoying this Fall because my son is playing varsity football (he’s a freshman). They are having a winning season and may make the playoffs for the first time! Go Wesleyan Christian School Mustangs!
I love baking with pumpkin and fall scented candles!
You all are great! Thanks for sharing π
When I think fall, I think Thanksgiving, and my family has so many fantastic traditions surrounding that day. I have six siblings, and although there is a ton of food to be made and things to do throughout the day, we are incredibly intentional about spending time giving thanks to God for our blessings.
It’s one of the most beautiful days of the year because of that! π
I love fall because it gives me an excuse to add pumpkin to everything I bake!
The thing I love best about fall is sitting by a cozy fire and reading a good book.
My favorite things about fall: the colors, pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, and Thanksgiving.
Growing up in California, we didn’t have the traditional changing of the seasons. Living in North Alabama we get to experience seasons changing, the crisp (clean) air and watching the beautiful, burgundies, reds, oranges and yellows of the changing leaves. The Hubs also gets to use his favorite toy, the leaf vacuum !! It’s a wonder to watch how our Lord artfully created the seasons. It’s my favorite time of year !!
I love fall because we can see such beautiful vistas of color. I live in the North Georgia area, so the hills provide awesome colors. Also it’s the time of year whenost of my clothes can be worn! It just feels good this time of year. One drawback though – sluggish snakes that crawl out from under those beautiful fallen leaves!
My husband and I live on a college campus (he is a Resident Director)- I love the random carved pumpkins that show up by our front door from time to time- and pumpkin spice candles for Yankee Candles!
O I love fall! Pumpkins are one of my favorite parts! Pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin break, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkins just in general! π
Patty Williams
Fall is my favorite time of year! One of my favorite things about fall is driving to the Smoky Mountains and looking at the fall leaves and the cool temps! Our mountains got 34 inches of snow this week but the fall leaves held their own.
Love W and tell him he looks cute in his party hat. π
Thank you for this fun giveaway!!
Patty
Wow…what a haul! You ladies are so generous with your siestas!! I, too, was praising the good Lord in Heaven for the crisp air that blew through North Central Texas (my neck of these great woods) last week. Football finally felt like football!! As an old high school football coach’s wife, I love “wrapped in a blanket with my hot chocolate” football as opposed to “sweaty legs sticking to the vinyl of of my stadium chair” football. As much as I love football, my greatest love of the autumn season is that it brings my family together. We have some “purposed” time together that makes my heart swell at the mere thought of it. My family, as dysfunctional as we are, have a great love for our “time” and we are fierce protectors of it. So fall tends to bring out the mamma, daughter, sister, auntie in me like no other time of the year. Hope you all are blessed this week as our crisp has moved on to make room for another 90 degree day tomorrow. I know fall is out there somewhere!!
I love the very idea of fall. The smells, the colors, the crisp air. Fires inside & out. The leaves carpeting the grass offering a send-off in a glorious blaze of oranges, yellows and reds. It reminds me that as I enter the autumn of my life, I am to continue to reflect Christ in His glorious majesty. I don’t have to be “beige” or “gray”, I can be exactly who I am in Him, bright and colorful and me.
Fall + Winter are my favorite seasons… and it is hard to describe WHY. But, if I had to choose specifically about fall I would say:
I love fall because of the cozy weather, more coffee, and the beautiful leaves transforming into colors as gorgeous as the sun’s surface.
Thank-you ladies! Closing up the James Bible Study in these next few weeks. It never truly ends because know we are going to LIVE THE THING, but it doesn’t take away from your initial dread when the last page is to be turned. And, if I had my Greek keyboard ‘with me’ I would type: Xaipeiv! Joy to you!
I got treasure up in heaven; I got dirt all over me,

Oh you lovely LPM ladies, my favorite things about fall are: crisp leaves, apple cider and my kiddos red faces after playing outside. Thanks:) Jenn Parker.
I love hot chocolate, college football and most of all seeing the beautiful colors in the trees. How anyone can doubt there is a God when seeing the beautiful fall colors.
I love the smell of crisp fall air and the crunch of leaves under my feet! And the return of chili to my kitchen!!
I love fall because it brings my family together. With all of us working crazy jobs that keep us busy, somehow in the fall we manage to come together over mulled cider, pumpkin bread and a warm blanket to reconnect. It truly is my favorite season and I have seven totes of decorations to prove it (which my husband still can’t get over!).
I love the brisk fall air and the beautiful colors. π it’s pretty much my favorite season! π
Fall is family time. Tailgating with my family and my honey each Saturday is built in fellowship and the beginnings of rich traditions!
I love it when Honeycrisp apples finally make an appearance in our local grocery store, and the subsequent apple pies that come our way…
Fall for me means family – more time with them, rich time!

Football and cool weather. Amen and amen.
I love the crisp mornings and the cooler days. I love the colors and the opportunity to pull out my sweaters and boots. I love bundling up for football games and snuggling in at night for a good movie with my husband.
Oh where do I begin?? Here in Ontario Canada, we enjoy such a significant change in weather and scenery from the hot humid summer months. The crisp air brings out the sweaters, jeans, scarves and boots – LOVE! The incredible autumn colours that God paints the foliage – breathtaking. The sound of the fallen leaves crunching under my feet during a walk… with my hot Starbucks’ latte in hand. So much to love about the fall season!
Thanks for the opportunity and for your generosity with your blogger friends π Love to you all at LPM and HAPPY FALL!
