Ladies! I think a Friday afternoon deserves a celebration. We’ve almost made it through the entire work week! Woo hoo! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I love pumpkin spice lattes, brisk evenings and fires in the fireplace π
I love the colors of Fall. I expectantly look at our sparse trees here in Abilene awaiting for them to show me colors that scream the turning of the seasons. Each leaf is a gift from the Father, and none taken for granted.
Marjie Scheib
One thing I love about fall is……the sound fallen leaves make when I walk through a big pile of the them as you kick them up into the air. Silly I know but that sound cannot to be duplicated at any other time of the year….
I love that as an adult I can enjoy the beauty of God and His creation in Fall , when I was a child seasons were about holidays or days off school and now I can take in the beauty and see the seasons changing faithfully beautifully right on time just like God in my life changes me <3
I live in Houston and my favorite thing about fall here is the cooler weather!
Kim Eshelman Lewisburg, PA
Fall reminds me of what a limitless Creator we have throughout the four seasons.
It reminds me of changes and change which is something we can be sure of. I like to go over 2012 remebering the changes and how they have “changed me.” Then remind myself of the many things that I am thankful for!
Living in Florida, fall brings the hope of less humidity. It’s my favorite season, perfect weather and thoughts of Thanksgiving dressing (stuffing).
Holidays are coming, and I will get to see my family!
I love fall because the leaves are changing to gorgeous colors and the hot, hot summer is over!
I love playing with my boys at the park enjoying the crisp air and colorful leaves. Oh, and drinking coffee to warm me up.
I love so many things about fall – the changing colors of the leaves, the crisp mornings, the chance to wear boots and sweaters and the start of college basketball. Yes, fall is my favorite season!
Like so many of the other siestas, I love almost everything about autumn! Cooler weather, leaves changing colors, wearing sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes (and most other things pumpkin), and on and on… π You guys are so precious to do your giveaways! Thanks for blessing us in so many ways! π
In the fall, I love riding through the Ozark mountains in my red Mazda Miata with the top down and a praise music CD playing loud. I drive with one hand so I can raise the other one up to my God!
My favorite thing about fall is that it feels like a fresh start! The colors are so beautiful and inspiring, anything seems possible! And I love the anticipation it brings as we head into Christmas!
Crystal Edwards
Hmmm…so many things to love about fall, but my favorite would be soups! For some reason, my family thinks that soup can only be eaten in cold weather.
I just love the smell and sights of fall. There is just a crispness about the air as fall is beginning to arrive. I can see the Glory of God all the time, but it is especially prominent in the fall for me. Thanks so much for your ministry!
I love seeing the lawns covered in all the colorful leaves that have fallen off the trees!
This year’s autumn has been an incredibly renewing time for me thus far. I’m loving every minute of the chilly weather, cold winds, changing leaves, pumpkin carving, pumpkin spice latte, costume creating, cozy nights…all of it π
The cooler temperatures, pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin brownies, anything pumpkin. Family and friends sharing a big pot of homemade soup or chili. Walking in the crisp morning air.
Christina Vail – Edgewood, KY
A few my fav things about fall….putting a little sweater on my tiny Yorkie Fhoebe π pumpkin spice lattes, everyone can wear orange and its ok!!, outside bonfires in the fire pit, the beautiful changing leaves and a fall sunset!! Thanks for this sweet opportunity. Blessings to you all, Christina
Fall is Family, wiener roasts and bonfires. Making smore’s. The smell of burning leaves and pinion pine in the chimenia. Scattering freshly piles of leaves. Logs in the fireplace. Full-moon and the hooting of an owl. All wonderful to me. Thank you God for the Seasons.
What a fun giveaway!
I love Thanksgiving. My 1st born is a chef, and she DOES IT UP GOOOOOD!
I just love this blog!! I love the fall too because that is when all the very best things go on! Lots of wonderful fall dishes that we just don’t seem to want any other time of the year because it just wouldn’t be right somehow! We get to enjoy so much more time with family and friends as we go through the fall holidays. Then there is the beautiful blue, blue skies and cool temps. Can you tell I am a Fall kinda gal? Hope you and your family enjoy yours as much as I intend to enjoy mine! π
I love many things about fall. I love cooler days, fireplace at night, wrapped in an blanket, Starbucks hot chocolate since I don’t drink coffee, pumpkins, scarecrows. I was also born in November and was named Joy, so I hope I’m a joy to those I meet along the way!!
Fall is definitely my favorite season! From the cooler weather (in GA, we also welcome a break from heat) to scarves & boots to football to the changing leaves, I love it all! Fall is also a special time for our church, Faith Baptist! Every weekend in the month of October, we put on an event called Judgment Journey. It’s a 45 minute journey through the Tribulation as Revelation describes it. It is an awesome time of fellowship, but most importantly, we get the opportunity to see souls saved and lives changed! With one weekend to go, our count is nearing 5,000 new names written in Glory!
I love the cool, crisp mornings with the sun shining into my kitchen as my kids are getting ready for their day.
My favorite thing about fall is apple cider and the changing leaves.
I love getting to wear jackets and sweaters in fall! Or I would get to so those things if I lived anywhere but Southern California!
Athena Sparrow
I love the thought of falling backwards into a pile of raked leaves and seeing the beautiful creation of a perfect blue fall sky.
Chris Cummings
I love the change of colors…a light breeze and leaves falling to the ground:)
I love Fall because this is when we get to rake and jump in leaves, eat clam chowder , wear boots and look at one of God’s most beautiful creations: fall leaves.
A new season is about to begin! In my life and literally!
I am sorry I didn’t post what I love about fall. First, the air is crisp and so are the apples. The leaves has such beautiful colors that reminds you that God is awesome.
My favorite thing about fall is the clearest blue skies! There is no other season in the South where the sky just vibrates with “blueness”! It makes me feel energized when the air is crisp, the sun is bright and the sky, oh the sky…God is at work here!
Fall is a great reminder of God’s creativity. I love that while His creation displays a rich appreciation for variety, He never changes. Exhilerating!

I love that fall means APPLES which to us means “FAMILY APPLE BUTTER DAY”. My husbands family all comes to our house and we peel, cook over open fire and jar our “Traditions” homemade apple butter. Its a day full of family, food and wonderful memories!! Enjoy the season!!
What I LOVE about Fall:
* crisp, cool air (windows open)
* rustling leaves
* a new autumn wreath on the front door
* Gator football π
* Thanksgiving in our backyard
* FAMILY time <3
Oh my where do I start I love so much about Fall but I guess my top favorites are in Northern Maine fall represents Harvest and harvest time is near and dear to my heart also apple picking and homemade apple pie!!! PS Beth I can’t wait to see you this weekend in Lewiston π
Valerie Rumfelt lives in New England and loves the autumn foliage!
Where I live in AZ, we don’t really experience fall with leaves changing color, however some do fall on the ground. I love being able to open up the doors & windows to enjoy the cooler temperatures we get after a long, hot summer!
I love how Fall reminds me of the endless creativity of our God! Creation shows such an appreciation for variety, but our God never changes. So exhilerating and comforting all at once!

Leaves! Glorious Leaves!!! I had a wonderful conversation with my kids this week about how I think God made them spectacular just because he loves us. He could have made them just fall off the trees green but he gave us a glorious sight to behold out of pure love for us. *sigh*
Amber Moon – I LOVE the sound of leaves crunching under my feet!!
Jennifer Wetherington – hot dogs over a fire and s’mores!
Ok..so I live in Ohio and would consider myself to be a little bit of a fashionista! One of my many favorite things about Fall is boots! Ugg’s, knee-high, short, cowgirl…you name it, I love it! Some boots along with a great pot of White Chicken Chili (and corn bread of course) and a day doesn’t get much better! God bless & pick me siesta!! ; )
Lauren Heaton, Anderson, SC
I am a terribly busy college student who has not gotten to enjoy much of the Fall this year, which upsets me so, barbecue it is one of my FAVORITES. There is nothing like a cool day, a pumpkin spice latte, and taking in all of the beautiful colors the Lord has graced us with! I also love the anticipation of the holidays…and yummy food!!!
Happy Fall π
I love the leaves, the crisp mornings, the holiday drinks at Starbucks, the football, the clothes, the boots and Thanksgiving!
I love getting my fall decorations out and wearing my slippers all day! π
By November, I’ve come to terms with the end of summer, and I’m ready to enjoy fall. The leaves are so gorgeous and colorful. The air is cooler. I’m anxious to try several new soup recipes. Planning to make pumpkin rolls this weekend. My girls are playing volleyball and cheering, and I love to watch them. My husband’s and my birthdays are in November. It’s a great time of year!
Fall love: The way rustic orange, deep red, brown silk, yellow lace, shades of green collide to create a gorgeous array of God ordained beauty & splendor on every hillside…how it beckons us to praise our Lord & stand in awe!!
