DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

Oh my – I could go on and on about fall. It is my very favorite season of the year. I love walking through the woods on crunching leaves, the beautiful colors on the trees, the amazing blue skies. I love snuggling in my home when there is a chill in the air with my pumpkin spice candle burning and a pot of chili on the stove.
I got so wrapped up in my post about fall that I forgot to leave my name – Rhonda Sewell from Westport, Kentucky.
I love all things pumpkin: cake, muffins, breads…and pumpkins to decorate the front porch. I also love that 2 of my boys are born in the fall. My wedding anniversary is in the fall. Both my parents were born in the fall. And the colored leaves….should I keep going with what I love about the Fall?
I love the colors, the cooler weather and a chance to wear sweaters and boots!
What I love about fall is that you can open your windows! That is a big deal in Texas.
I absolutely love the vibrant colors of the leaves changing, especially here in the hills of Tennessee. Just beautiful!
What I love about fall is leaves changing colors and warm soup on a chilly day.
One of my favorite things about fall is the aroma of leaves and burning brush piles, possibly roasting hot dogs on a stick on the fire. The sky is the most beautiful clear blue you can almost see forever. I love memories of our family going into the woods to cut our firewood for the winter, the woods smell good too.
I love fresh baked bread, which I do in the fall and winter, and soup simmering on the stove. I love how the Lord truly does “change the times and seasons.”
Carla
forgot to include my last name on my comment.
Fall is excellent here in Indiana for lots of reasons…here are some of my faves:
1. Leaves in gorgeous tones of red, yellow and orange
2. Putting said leaves in huge piles for my 5 and 3 year old boys to jump in
3. Seeing my first grade students come to school for the first time in their new coats, hats, scarves and gloves
4. Drinking warm apple cider with my teacher friends in the lounge and trying out new pumpkin recipes on them
5. Snuggling up with a blanket and cup of chai tea after I put my boys in bed
Thanks for the chance, girls! –Lyndsay Salvador
What I love most about fall – college football! And the smell of wood-burning fireplaces!
(I’m taking my first Biblical Languages course this session, learning the basics of Greek and Hebrew! You’re an inspiration, Melissa!)
Hillary Newton
Denver, CO
I love football in the fall and all the yummy snacks that go with it!
I love the fall colors! And that it is time to break out the chili recipes.
Jennifer Wennekamp- I love the cooler temperatures and the decorating. The deep colors that you can use in the house for Thanksgiving and then getting ready for the decorating for Christmas. In fall I also know that we are going to have lots of family time!
What I love most about fall is the feeling of a new year. Between the dramatic changes outside and the thought of kids heading back to school to start a new grade, I feel like I have a fresh start, too.
Rowena Stanley — LOVE the colors!
I love the clear skies where I can see the Smoky Mountains 40 miles away and all the different colors of the leaves of the trees – the different shades of yellows and reds. It’s an awesome way that our Lord, the Creator, loves to make things so pleasing to our eyes, lightens my heart and makes me smile.
I love walking through a blanket of red, yellow and orange leaves, scattered all over the sidewalk.
What I love about fall is the crispness in the air, a warm sweater and sitting on the porch with a cup of hot tea. Heaven on earth!
I love the cooler temps for running! But this fall in particular I love snuggling up with my new baby boy π
I love the cool breeze, my Maple Tree trying to turn those glorious colors (living in So Cal, with crazy weather it’s working hard) walking on the beach when the Lord paints a breathing taking picture of the sky.
Hey! My name is Danielle Hall. I love cool weather that Fall brings and everything that comes with it – cozy blankets, cute clothes, hot drinks, and warm fires.
I love the smell and sights of fall…almost as if God had dipped his paintbrush in red, orange, and yellow and dabbed paint on the trees. I love the smell of burning leaves and pumpkin spice burning in my kitchen. But, most of all I love gathering around a dinner table with my family and thanking God for our many blessings.
I love the colors when the leaves change in the fall.
Fall brings to mind family here & family gone. The holidays are sneaking up on us, but there is time to sit with some tea & reflect on the wonderful earth God has given us. I like to take walks & breath in the cold air & praise God for all His blessings, including the beautiful palette of fall colors surrounding me!
I love a toasty warm house on a gray, rainy day and chili cooking on the stove!
Fall is my favorite season! I love looking at the trees and seeing all the beautiful colors. I live drinking pumpkin spice lattes and roasting marshmallows. I love wearing boots and sweaters. I love taking my sweet little girls trick or treating and eating their candy! π I love turning on the fire place and snuggling with my family. Fall reminds me of all the beauty in God’s creation and how He will one day make all things new.
I love how the leaves crackle under our feet after they have displayed their brilliant array of colors π I love having our windows open for at least a few days (between allergies and a husband who can’t sleep with humidity in the air we typically go straight from the AC to the furnace). I love the promise of the Christmas season right around the corner!
May you enjoy many more cool fall days!
Love,
Audrey Howie
I love everything about fall! From the crisp, colorful leaves to the fresh apple cider and pumpkin roll!
Andrea Runyon
I love the changing of the leaves. Such vibrant colors! Especially this HUGE, old, beautiful oak in town that turns fire red. The smell of spiced candles. So homey. Warm sweaters. Ahh! Watching my middle school daughters run on the cross counrty team and my son play Fall baseball. Warms my heart and hurts my throat. Yes I am one of those moms that loves to cheer for her kids and they love it too π Those are a few of the things I love about Fall!
I love love love fall in SC: the colors of the leaves in the trees, cool weather, sweaters and boots, making chili and soups, watching football, baking anything with caramel, going apple picking, and pj pants with fuzzy socks!! π
I forgot my last name earlier… I am the Thanksmas post!
Lopreste
Oh my goodness….Fall is my absolute favourite season! Particularly this Fall as it’s my first fall with my husband (we got married August 24th). My favourite thing to do is bake pumpkin anything! One weekend I made pumpkin cream cheese muffins, pumpkin spice pancakes, pumpkin pie bars + pumpkin spice syrup!
I love the colors that make God so evident! I am a teacher, so I also love a brand new start with a brand new set of kiddos! He is so good!
Fall is my favorite season of the year. I love the cooler temps, the leaves changing colors, pumpkins, and college football. Thanks for doing these fun giveaways!
I love the smell of fall, the leaves smell heavenly to me! Being raised in the north, upstate New York, fall was spectacular! We now live in Florida but if you look real close you can see God’s majesty displayed here too! We love to go to Tennessee to get our fall fix in the Autumn.
I really appreciate God’s work in fall. When I realized what we view as so beautiful is really the leaves dying I was amazed, just like us! We have to die to sin and be made alive in Christ to become the beautiful creation God intended! I love our God! What an amazing Creator he is! Fall is just one of the ways I am awed at His Majesty and splendor!
Amy Hickman – Judging by the number of bags of CANDY CORN (also reason to go all capsy!) I’ve consumed, I apparently have made them my definition of Fall, but quite honestly I love everything about the season…my favorite time of year!
What do I love about fall? So many things. I’m working on A Woman’s Heart, God’s Dwelling Place & I am looking forward to harvest. We just visited an apple farm for the first time, it’s amazing how everything else has started to wither & die, but not the apples; they are ripe, crisp & bright, right off the tree. The trees were absolutely loaded with apples! The pumpkins were full & beautiful & everywhere. The colors right now are overwhelming & I am believing God for a harvest just as crisp, bright, beautiful, full & overwhelming for me with something planted many months ago in the Spring.
Mandy Parker – I love sweatshirt weather. Cool but not cold. And the beautiful leaves in the north Ga mountains.
Fall is a favorite time for me because we finally get a break from the heat and it is soon to be Thanksgiving when our family gets together.
I love salted caramel mochas in the fall!! I also love Thanksgiving.
Too much fun! Good luck everyone! Lynda Rickey. I love fall because my puppy, Bentley, loves the cooler weather (Florida) gets all full of himself and goes completely off the deep end, but oh so cute is he. Love that rascal so much. A total gift from Jesus. I didn’t even know I was a dog person until him. Love ya’ll!
Fall….i love the color when I walk around the neighborhood, the crunch of the leaves and that smell that only this season has. The colors that only God could provide.
Thanks for the chance to win one of the amazing prizes!
I love wearing jeans and boots and long sleeves and … scarves…. and that my hair does pretty well and warm cozy fires… and my flannel sheets… and the changing colors and Thanksgiving and cooking and eating… and eating and cooking… π
I love cooking a different soup each Sunday after church!
I love the changing of the leaves and greenery around us! It’s such a fabulous reminder that in order for something to become even more beautiful, sometimes it must first experience death, so that a resurrection can take place.
At the first sign of fall, I literally get buttflies in my tummy, filled with of excitment for all that fall brings with it. Love the cool crisp Ohio air. Warm sweaters, blue jeans and boots. Scarves, jean jacket and a little bit of sparkle. Family dinners over big pots of soup or chili gathered together watching college football. Pumpkins, bright colored leaves, indian summer evening walks. Then we ease into November my heart reminises about holidays past & hope for holidays to come. Thankful for family, friends, blessings I can’t count. Full and happy heart. I LOVE FALL!!
My favourite thing about the Fall is my Honey. We were married on a gorgeous fall day 24 years ago…so I can’t think of the Fall without thinking of the man God has blessed me with, and I’m so thankful.
Joy Brown
My favorite thing about fall is the flavors of pumpkin and cider and the smells of leaves and wood burning fires coming from chimneys.
Norma Bowers – I love Fall because it means that winter is soon on it’s way..the crisp feel in the air gets me ready for the cold chill that will come hopefully sooner than later…yes, I love winter and snow and all of that good COLD stuff that reminds me of my Dad who I miss like crazy!
I LOVE fall!!! I love fall because I can bake and cook to my hearts content! It has been HOT here in So Cal, but today was a glorious 70 degrees, so I made my first fall batch of homemade pumpkin spice bagels!! They are cooling on my countertop as I write this and the house smells divine!! Another thing that I love about fall right now, is that my 3rd baby is going to join our family this fall, in fact in just 15 days!! So, I will have a new little girl or boy pumpkin for Thanksgiving!!:) PS- I am so not over pumpkin anything… I want everything pumpkin!!!:)
