(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
What an incredible Bible! What a great way to use our smart phones to digging deeper into God’s word. Love it! My favorite Bible is my mini Bible. It is so easy to carry with me wherever I go.
Thank you!
Anita Brunson
Nikkia Bell–For some reason, I don’t see the post that I made yesterday. Hmm. Anyway…my favorite bible would have to be a toss up between my Life Recovery(NLT) Bible and my Hugs For Women(NKJV) Bible.
Hi Lindsee…. Pam Mundy I use the NKJV spirit filled life study bible …. I have been praying for Beth and Amanda for supernatural strenght and stamina 🙂 Love you guys

My favorite Bible is my Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible. Studying the original word can bring such revelation to a seemingly common verse!
I’v been looking for an excuse to upgrade to that new Droid phone! My all time favorite Bible is NIV study Bible – love the study notes, the best ones I’ve ever found.
Anne Dureka
My favorite bible is my life application study bible in NIV. 🙂
My name is Rachel Addis
My favorite Bible is the NASB study Bible
Amanda Dolinger–my favorite is the one I use–the NIV Women of Faith Study Bible. My best friend gave it to me for my birthday in 2004. Best birthday present ever! As an aside, I also think the NIV Archaeological Study Bible is just neato!
I love my Women of Faith NIV Study Bible. Used for years as a teenager and in my 20s, until it literally fell apart and I had to move on to a new bible. Still keep that one on my desk at home though and pull it out often! -Katie West
Hi Siestas!
This is fun! I am enjoying reading all the comments!
My favorite Go-To bible is Zondervan’s NIV study bible!
I like the notes at the bottom that clarify each chapter.
I bring it to church with a package of sticky notes to mark the spots our pastor
Points out in his sermon– as well as using a highlighter when
Studying on my own!
Sincerely –
Nancy GenovA. 🙂

My favorite Bible is an NIV study Bible that was actually my father in laws and I have used it for most of Beth’s studies I have done over the years. It has lots of notes from my hand throughout the pages.
Hi. I am Allyson Holcomb. My fav bible is NIV that my dad bought me 15 years ago. Has my maiden named monogrammed on it but still use it :).
Ingle Lewter – My favorites are the Jesus StoryBook Bible and the NIV Study Bible App for the iPad. I love reading the Jesus Storybook Bible to my almost 4 year old daughter. And the NIV App is so wonderful for using during Beth’s Bible Studies. It makes getting to the right book, chapter and verse super easy.
Shawn Bensley, I guess the Bible that sticks most in my mind is the one I grew up with, A Good News Bible. I wish I had read it more as a teenager.
My favorite story is Esther. As a little girl, I loved the idea of a year of beauty treatments to then be chosen to be queen. But now as an adult, I really appreciate the boldness she displayed in approaching the king on behalf of her people. I also found so much wisdom in her discretion in how she handled the dinner parties with her husband and Haman. Definitely a “happily ever after” kind of story, but certainly shows God’s sovereignty and His care to keep his covenant with His people.
I misunderstood & wrote about my favorite Bible STORY—OOOPS!
My favorite Bible is definitely my pale pink Precious Moments Bible that I used all through my childhood.
Lindsay Neagle ~ I love Life Application study Bibles.
Lisa Gunnels
My favorite bible is the NIV study bible my parents gave me in 1988. ♥
I love the pocket Bible it is so easy to throw it in my purse and carry it wherever I go!
I have several Bibles that I enjoy. Depends on what study I am doing or using it during church service! I even have The Bible Downloaded on my Kindle so I can use it on my iphone at any given time!!
This is not only a version of the Bible I don’t have, but one that might make me a little more technology savvy. Thanks for this opportunity. :>) MS
Carly Pruch
My favorite Bible has become my ESV Study Bible, but I’ve heard great things about the HSCB as well and have always wanted to look into it!
And by HSCB I mean HCSB. 🙂
Christy Jones- I like my NIV, the one I’ve had since 1995. My sweet husband just had it rebound for me.
Oh, I didn’t say which was my favorite…I don’t have one. By one chair is the NIV by another is Living Word…another is in my suburban…I just love the Word! :>) MS
I use the KJV, Life Application Bible, I also use the Amplified Bible.
Love this giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity. My favorite current Bible is the ESV classic thinline edition by Crossway. But I’d love a new Bible…pick me. 🙂
Still love my 10 pound NIV Study Bible but have really been thinking about a parallel or something new. I also love You Version on my phone so I think this new version with the QR reader would be awesome!
Rebekah Parker–my favorite Bible is the Life Application Study Bible that I received when I graduated from high school.
Shari Campa…my favorite changes by the day. I am a seminary student and I jump between every version ever written I think! I love the smart phone integration…
Dawn Leopard. My favorite bible at this point in my life is the NIV Life Application Study Bible 🙂
Darlene Rogers
My favorite study Bible is the Life Application Bible, but I use my Scofield at church and at work. Our church has a school, and I am so blessed to work there. :)I enjoy the Bible app on my iPhone, too.
I received a red NKJ version for high school graduation 34 years ago and still refer back to it often.
My favorite Bible is the NKJV of the Spirit Filled Life Bible. I have replaced that one several times. Currently I am really liking the YouVersion also. The Life Essentials sounds like a great one to explore.
My favorite is the International Induction Study Bible… it has big margines for all the notes!
Emily Easley – My favorite Bible is the one I received for Christmas in 1998 – the year I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. It was my junior year in high school. I used that Bible until this past fall – 13 yrs later. I cried in the Bible section of the local Christian book store as I thought of “retiring” that precious Bible and buying a new one to use. It has all my notes and references written in it. But I embraced the journey of using the new one as a time to learn and grow even more.
Regina Rindels
My favorite bible is my NIV life application bible.
My favorite for sentimental reasons is my little NASB. It’s all marked up and worn and loved. 🙂
Christy Potter-my favorite study bible is the HCSB that lifeway just put out. I love it so much I also bought my girlfriend one for her birthday. I also love to use the Lifeway Online Bible Library.
Shiffra Nimz. My favorite Bible is my study Bible with all the helpful notes at the bottom to help get the most out of what I’m reading.
Lindsee- I am seriously wondering where my Precious Moments Bible is now that you reminded me of it!
Morgan Prestridge
My favorite Bible is my big ole red covered NIV. Been through the good times and bad times with me!
Linda LaFrombois — I love my ESV, but the Bible I think back on with the most sentiment was a paperback Urbana Bible I got while in college. It did fall apart — mainly because it was paperback — but God’s words through it kept me from falling apart! 🙂
I love my NIV Study Bible, but also like the Amplified version.
My favorite Bible is the NIV. I am contemplating buying a new one because mine is literally falling apart! I love a Bible that is highlighted and underlined and has notes and dates that remind me of where I have been and where I am going.
I have to go with my NIV because it’s the first Bible that I really started to study and it is all marked up. I have lots of translations as reference. It is fun to see all I have written over the years. Pam Milner
Michelle Watts
My favorite is “The Women’s Study Bible.” I love all the articles, cross-referencing, and explanations. I’ve had it almost 15 years and have re-taped it together numerous times.
Michele Hurst, Pearland, TX
My favorite Bible was The Open Bible NASB which I retired after my puppy got a hold of it and chewed up one corner of it. I bought a Bible cover and used it for a while until I got a new NASB Study Bible. I like it but am still breaking it in. I miss my old notes written in the margins.
I love my Max lucado study bible but I bet I would like this one too. Sent from the balcony over the tennis courts at rosemary beach. Wish you were here.
I am in the middle of a bible switch. I have used the NIV for decades…not I’m switching to the HCSB…so this would be PERFECT!!!! Pick me! 🙂
Christy Yates – Hello, my name is Christy and I’m a Bible addict (that really isn’t a joke…). Currently my go-to Bible is a parallel study Bible with the NLT Study notes and Life Application study notes running parallel on bottom half of each page. So much info, so easily accessible! Dueling for first place is my Mantis app for my iphone with several commentaries and translations all at my fingertips wherever I go!
