(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My name is Cheryl Sommers. Right now my favorite Bible is my NIV Archaelogical Study Bible. Love it! I love the QR reader in the Bible. Technology! LOL
Katie Mayes. My favorite is my NIV study Bible. The spine is broken, my maiden name is stamped on the cover and it’s hard to read under all my scribblings (including my middle-school handwriting of little hearts dotting the “i’s”) but I love it.
My favorite bible is a navy blue NIV study bible given to me by my husband ten years ago for our tenth anniversary. I love it because inside is marked some incredible life milestones we’ve gone through as partners. Also, it contains so many notes and markings that, for me, highlight my spiritual journey. It’s like a time machine into my heart and our marriage. God’s word is always giving back.
My favorite is my NIV study bible
Meghan Dawson
My favorite Bible is one I took from my mom. She used it when going a series of Bible studies and it has her notes all over it. I am torn between using it until it is falling apart or keeping it nice enough to pass down to my daughter some day 🙂
Catherine Barnett – My favorite Bible is The Message/NIV Parrallel.
Always happy to have God’s Word and this Bible would be sooo special!
I got my bible in 1996 and has seen a lot of life with me. It’s a blue NIV study bible. It scares me to get a new one because it’s been such a part of my life for so long. Through travel, marriage and three children and many, many Beth Moore bible studies. My bible study ladies have told me numerous times that I need a new bible, and this is just because the cover is falling off!
Hi, thank you for the fun! My name is Lawan Rivera. Just wanted to say that I could not part with mine forever so I gave it up for a short period and had it rebound! I still have all the notes and underlines.
My ‘first love’ is NASV that I began reading/studying as a new young teen believer long ago… 46 years ~ PTL!! Also use NIV and more recently ESV. Through Beth’s studies I was introduced to the HCSB.
I have the Blackaby Study Bible in NKJ. I love it. His insights are priceless.
Reneé Meaux
My favorite bible is probably the NIV Study Bible I’ve had for awhile because I love digging in a little deeper to the subject matter! 🙂
Awesome Give-a-Way!!
Stephanie Buma- and my favorite Bible to date is NIV Life Application- Aside from the Holy Spirit pressing into our hearts God’s Truths, I love reading the explanations and applications the Life Application offers.
We are currently doing the Updated Version of Beth’s Breaking Free at out church- We already feel close to her…..the Bible would just be an extra blessing to the already huge blessing she has been to us.
Thanks-
I totally understand your connection to your Bible. My favorite Bible is one that my husband bought me several years ago after we had been through some trials and my old Bible had actually ben stolen in a robbery. I love how God reminds me of His goodness through all of my notes and markings. Thanks for sharing!
Sherrie Adams
The New Living is my favorite translation because it is easier for me to understand. However, I am learning to look closely at the NASB and loving the “I never knew it said/meant that” moments! God is good. Wish I would make myself sit down more to study and hear from Him.
Beth Petty
I would love a new Bible!
Hi! My name is Angel Brown. My favorite Bible is my NIV Bible. I even bought the same Bible in a study Bible and it was hard to carry around because it was so big that I use them both at home, but it would be great to have another version because I love seeing how scripture is worded in different versions, but they all mean the same thing. 🙂
Beth Lents- I use the NIV Scofield Study Bible (my favorite), it has a great cross reference to it. Love the extra insight!
My Favorite is the King James, but I will have to say the Amplified is really cool to go along with it…… I was raised under an “Old Time” Preacher who used the King James, so that is all I know………
Michelle Medina- My favorite Bible was the first one I eagerly read as a child: The Children’s Living Bible–had a picture of Jesus holding a lamb on cover 🙂
Kim Maxwell–My current favorite is just a large print NIV version with a soft leather cover. I love the way it feels in my hands and how the words leap off the pages.
hola siestas, I have so many, the life application niv study bible, the MacArthur study bible, and e-sword the word of the Lord with the electronic edge with many tools options commentaries etc. etc. is wonderful for us as we read aloud every day! finally even added the message as one of the translations on the menu-so interesting for a change as each translation is!!!!, and many of them are free on e-sword!!! highly recommend check it out xoxo love&prayers

I have fallen in L-O-V-E with NLT version and study out of The NLT Study Bible by Tyndale! 🙂
Bethany Slocum….. I love that you mentioned the Precious Moments Bibles!!!
I love my NIV study bible that I bought about 4 years ago when I started a bible study.I am entering for our leader Danielle. She is in NEED of a new bible so I am actually submitting this for her. She is a wonderful giving woman and this would be such an amazing gift for her, since her cover is falling off. I am truly blessed to share my walk with Christ with her, and am praying she is selected for this awesome gift!
We are currently doing the Fruit of the Spirit study, which I am loving!!
My favorite bible is my bible with all my notes and underlines that I’ve made over the past 30 years. It is a Typical Study Bible but to me it is just “My” bible!
My favorite Bible is the Life Application Study Bible…my husband gave it to me for our 1 year anniversary!
DeAnn LaMaine.
I love my NIV Bible.
Right now my favorite it the New Inductive Study Bible tied with my sweet Grandmother’s old Living Bible with all of her markings in it. What a treasure!
I received a NIV Life Application Bible over 10 years ago and it can at a perfect time in my life. We also have a Precious Moments King James Version in our school room we use all the time. (Baby blue – for my boy!)
My son’s bible is covered in a pattern of black and white duck tape – looks like a checked flag! So I know about the duct tape thing …

I’d love to win! How fun!
Melissa Meserole
How can name a fav?!!! NLT, NIV, NCV, NKJ they all bring something to my Bible reading. I learned a long time ago that I may get a better understanding of a scripture if I read it in several diff versions….but if I had to pick just one I suppose I would stick with my little pocket NASB it is what I do all my serious study in 🙂
My favorite Bible is the one my husband gave me for our first Christmas as a married couple. Allison Athon
Carla Santiago
My favorite bible is the Women of Destiny Bible (NKJV).
I’m using an NIV that my husbands parents gave to us soon after we were married, 26 love filled, happy years ago! I had the leather cover redone once and just the other day I was thinking that I hope this Bible lasts forever because it has gone with me through so much. I would have a hard time putting it aside for a new one!
Debbie Golden
I have the NIV life application study bible and I love. It’s fairly marked up so I could definitely use a new one.
My favorite Bible is NIV Study Bible!
My name is Jody Buchan. I only have one Bible. It is a womens study NIV version.
I love this Bible because it was given to me by my best friend when she knew I was struggling after my mom passed away. I was lost and searching for Jesus. I found him at a wonderful, loving chuch in town, I now have him as my father and a hole bunch of sisters in Christ. As I continue my walk with Christ I have learned to love Beth like a mother, I read her posts like a letter from my mom. I love her dearly, and I was blessed to see her in Tucson a couple of years ago.
My name is Jane Munoz. My favorite is my current NIV Study Bible that has all my notes a scribbles from my Beth Moore classes. I had NEVER written in a Bible before this one and I bought it on the day of my very first Beth Moore class at FBC in their book store. LOVE.IT!!!!
Not sure if this is how to enter the drawing, but here’s my name just in case: Shanda Bonn!
Funny that I was sitting at church Sunday, I started to think it was time to start looking for new Bible for myself! My current Bible has been my favorite thus far, it’s a NIV translation – Women’s Devotional. Connie Boyd. Thanks!
I love the Jesus Storybook Bible! It’s written for kids, but I love the simplicity of the language and the beautiful illustrations. 🙂
P.S. How’s this for superficial? My favorite is King James – because I did a lot of Shakespeare in my youth and I love the sound of the King’s English on my tongue!
My favorite Bible is the one I am reading at the time, not the one sitting on a shelf!
-Katie
My two favorite Bibles are: Discipleship Study Bible-NIV & AMG Publishers Hebrew/Greek Key Study Bible-NASB.

One of my favorite verses (I have way too many to say I have an only) is:
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
The more I read His word, the more I crave studying His word. The more I study His word, the more in love I fall with Him. The more I fall in love with Him, the more I desire to know Him more intimately. I would love a study bible to help me on my pursuit of Him!
Jennifer Booth. My favorite Bible is the one I’m using right now. It’s a NIV translation Life Application Bible. I’ve only had it since August, but the maps are about to fall out as well as some of the pages as I’ve been using it a lot!
My name is Wynndy Wilson. My husband and I recently moved to Boone, NC to start a new church. I author a blog: confidencedoneright.blogspot.com steering ladies (or whoever)to seek confidence the right way (Isaiah 32:17). Beth and staff, thank you so much for all of your encouragement. Love you all, Wynndy
