(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!

I love the new american standard version
alicia phillips… Current fav, the message
I would love to have this Bible. My son is on the kidney transplant list and he is coming back to the Lord after a long time away. I think this will help me help him. If he doesn’t get a liver his health can’t withstand.
My favorite Bibles are Amercian Standard and the King James. Thank you for this chance.
Your sister in Christ.
Claudette Kleckner
The Bible I currently use is the Key Word Study Bible in the NIV.
I love comparing different translations and would love to have the Life Essentials Bible.
Sorry, didn’t leave first and last name:
Jennifer McIlwain
Shelly Green – I really like my NKJV Chronological Study Bible
Been using a Thompson chain reference (NIV) Bible for years and years. Although I really love it and am such a creature of habit, I’ve been thinking of changing this time since I really need.a new one anyway, but we’ll see.
I began my spiritual journey with a NIV Study Bible back in 1984 and it is still my favorite.
Hi, my name is Lisa DeCarlo. My favorite Bible is my grandmother’s Bible (The Living Bible) that she used for as long as I can remember. She lives with Jesus now and that Bible is precious to me!
Kristy Dorminy
I love New American Standard. I have used it most of my adult life. I used NIV growing up. Love to look at the Message and the Amplified Bible, too.
What a neat giveaway!!!
I love the ESV version for study and then I love The Message when I just read for leisure.
Thanks,
Sherry Tuttle
I am so excited about the bible giveaway. I pray the Lord will allow me to win it. I have a the King James Version Bible with my name inscribed on the front and it is my most precious possession. But it is hard for me to grasp at times so my brother bought me a Life application Bible NIV and I have enjoyed using it in my Bible Studies. Our church is ending on Tuesday the study of James Mercy Triumphs which I have learned so much about myself and what my gracious Father expects from me. I thank the Lord for the Ladie’s Ministries. I praise the Lord that He has used you Beth and that you have followed his will for your life. We are learning and desiring to learn God’s Word. God Bless you all!!!
Chris Carver – My favorite Bible is my NIV that has all my notes from every Bible study I have ever done.
Marcia Smith.
I truly love a variety of translations. The one I go back to the most is NIV. Right now I am enjoying the Message. Just before that one it was New Living Translation and before that one it was NKJV.
Janie from Bartlesville, OK
I have an NIV bible that is special to me because my husband gave it to me the first Christmas after we were married and he wrote the sweetest “to my dear wife” in it! I have used it for many, many Beth Moore bible studies and now use it every week to show preschoolers at our church about God’s Word, the bible, and this is one way He speaks to us.
I love my NIV!! It is very sentimental…it has all of the important dates and milestones that have occurred in my life since I bought it during my first BSF study in 1998! Prior to that, I was using a hardcover bible like the ones in hotel rooms!!
Mary Lou Menning
My favorite Bible is probably the one that went with me through Bible college and the years of singleness before marriage. It was New American Standard and the Lord and I had some sweet times in that Bible. I currently use a Life Application NIV that my husband’s grandmother gave us one year for Christmas. Don’t know if it’s a favorite, but it’s comfortable.
Just finished Beth’s study of James with the NIV Study Bible. James has changed my life and I am so grateful to Beth for all the pray, time and effort she puts into the Bible studies she does for her siestas.

Currently use Life Application Bible – Thanks!
I have always used the NIV study bible. With the bible app on my phone I have branched out to multiple versions and enjoy the richness of that learning. I would love the opportunity to gift this to our daughter. She is 24 yrs old and this type of bible along with the techie app would be great for her.
Thanks to our Mama Siesta for giving the opportunity and to all at LPM for holding down the fort while she and AJ travel and teach.
Blessings to each of you gals,
Celeste Hill
My name is Terri Ikeda and my favorite Bible
is my NIV that my black lab Panda chewed the front and back covers off…she really likes getting into the “word”.
As a new believer in 1971, I received The Living Bible for Christmas. I was seventeen and did not know the Word.Easy read and easy to understand. I still read/study out of this Bible occasionally …reading notes and dates and remembering the beginning days of getting to know God through His Word. Have had several other Bibles throughout the years (Amplified, KJV, J.B. Phillips) but..my first is my favorite…the nearest and dearest to my heart.
Howdy from Canada! Looking forward to seeing Beth in Calgary, Alberta in June, 2012!!
My favorite Bible is NASB, but I love memorizing in the King James Version…..nothing like that!
But I would LOVE a new Bible……thanks for the opportunity.
I love your love for God’s Word. xoxoxo God Bless ya’ll!
Hi! I am Kelly Wells and I use the NIV because that is what I have seen Beth use!! No joke – being a bible newbie at age 42 I look to those who are way smarter than me for help!!
Kathy Burrus here. Sooo glad I didn’t miss this post. New fav is the NET Bible that Beth has mentioned. Found it used online 🙂 GREAT notes! I’m too cheap to pay full price.
My name is Todd Hunter. I have been wanting to get this bible for awhile now but I lost my job recently and cant afford it. My favorite bible so far is a toss up between the NLT study bible and the HCSB study bible. Between the ease of reading and the great study notes I love them both. Thanks for making this oppurtunity available. God bless.
I just celebrated my 17th wedding anniversary. For my first birthday (June) after we married, my husband bought me a new Bible with my new name engraved on it. I was being trained in Kay Arthur’s inductive study method at the time, so he bought me a NASB Inductive Study Bible. I’m still using it today. I love the wide margins full of so many notes. Many of the books have been studied inductively by yours truly and are full of notes. It will be hard to give it up when it just can’t go on any longer.

My most favorite Bible has been my NIV Life Application study Bible. I have been using this Bible for over 15 years now and love it to pieces…literally!! 😀
My name is DeAnna Butler and I currently use the NIV women’s study bible. I’ve only had it a few years and really enjoy it, however I’ve found that sometimes I’d like a different translation to compare or use. Would be thrilled to receive this one!
Stephanie Cline
The Message Bible tends to leave me speechless.
hi 🙂
My name is Melinda Nelson.
I love all my bibles…especially the colorful,beat-up ones!
I might have a soft spot
for my husband’s grandpa’s Norwegian Bible.
There is something very cool about paging through
the Word written in another language…His Truth
transcends language barriers…lovely!

My favorite Bible is a little pink compact ESV. It’s been to Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana. The pages are all crinkled and highlighted and underlined. The outside has been stained dirt red from its multiple rides over bumpy African roads. And it’s been caught in 2 monsoons! It’s like the Indiana Jones of the Bible world… except the fact that it’s pink 🙂
My favorite is the ESV Study Bible. Great notes, information about each book and notes about specific verses at the bottom of each page.
Jana Imler – I love my New American Standard Bible that I have used since high school. It is 20 years old but those finely thin pages still hold up with every turn. I alternate from time to time with my NIV, but I can’t bring myself to turn loose of my old one.
Amber Moon – My favorite is the NLT Study Bible. I cannot begin to express how many times not only has God spoke through the actual Scripture, but the commentary as well. Here lately, it seems my pastor keeps referencing scripture I’ve already underlined in my Bible too. I love it when God talks to me that way! 🙂
Linda Dale~I have two bibles that are my favorite. I have my NIV “Beth Moore Study Bible” with purple pen marks ALL OVER the margins and then there is my Life Application Bible that I take to church. 🙂
Heather Rattray
My favorite Bible is my Faith and Action NIV study Bible. It is really sentimental since I’ve been through a lot while I’ve had it.
My favorite – that’s tough! I like to use a version for a good, long, while, and then shake things up by using a new and different version. Right now I have been using the NET to read in and have just recently been thinking that HCSB would be my next purchase! 🙂 I usually study with NASB and/or ESV.
I love my Life Application study Bible NIV!
Kimberly Tavernier
My favorite Bible is my husbands ESV study Bible.
Amber Gerdine –
My favorite bible is the one I own now. It is my favorite because it is my FIRST bible and I received it for my 30th birthday 2 years ago from my now-fiance. It is the Student’s Life Application Study Bible, with the hot pink cover. He had the cover engraved with “Amber, you are a blessing”. It is now falling apart! I was just thinking how I need a new one. I love this one because of the little stories in it and the way it explains things and makes me think.
Please enter me in the drawing. My favorite Bible is the one I have been reading for the past 22 years. It is a NIV study Bible given to me by a sweet group of middle school girls that I was working with when I was a young adult.
Love my NIV study Bible despite the fact that part of Proverbs has managed to separate from the binding! Just telling my James Bible Study pals that I need a new Bible. How fun!
Carol Zymroz
My all time favorite is my leather bond 2 tone NIV. I’ve been using it since I gave my heart to Jesus some 12 years ago. It’s so worn and torn, but its my baby! Funny story, I tried to get all techie-like and started using my iPad application instead. I so missed the feel of my two-tined leather bible, I had to go back to it! Nothing like the feel of turning the real pages of the bible!! Blessings!
Suzanne Bailey
I am currently using a Keyword NASB Bible; but my large print NIV is my old time favorite.
My name is Genevieve Garrison. My favorite Bible is the NIV Life Application Bible. There are lots of cross references plus study notes plus how to apply Bible truths to your life.
Hi y’all. I love my bible. It is a KJV Scofield Study Bible. While on a recent trip, I was reading my Bible. I can NEVER sit down to read without a book in one hand and a coffee cup in the other. I always stay up the night before we travel because I figure I can sleep in the car. You probably already can guess where I’m going with this. Yep, I woke up to a burning sensation in my lap! I had dozed off in the car and my coffee had poured all over my Bible and lap! I quickly cleaned it all up, but my precious Bible sat coffee soaked. I bawled my eyes out the entire trip! It dried out and is still readable, but it is warped. I would love and appreciate Beth’s bible.
Judy Peterson
I am currently using Nkjv Scofield Study Bible.
