(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
Leslie Hall- My Fav is my NIV Study Bible….but would love to add a HCSB to the mix!
My first Bible was a KJV when I was 10! I spent summer camp at a Baptist Bible camp so you learn a LOT of the word! I have now changed to a NIV Bible and I love it although once you learn a verse it always sticks that way!
Cindy Kessler – my favorite Bible is my NIV Life Application Bible. Full of good commentary and application.
Bless you all and I’m praying for Beth and the team not to mention all the women attending Colour in Sydney!
Cindy K
The NASB Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible is the one my Dad first got me.
Brandie Yeutter
I am LOVING the Amplified version these days…but my most loved (and used through many a Beth Moore study!) is my NIV Study Bible. they told me not to buy paperback, but I didn’t hardly have any money at the time. it is now in about 27 pieces: Joshua 1 is the first page that’s still attached, James 4 could fly away as it’s all on its own. when i need to find something or consider “all the way the Lord has led” me, it’s where i go.
Sharon Weldon I go in seasons with my favorite Bible, right now it is my NIV Life Application Study Bible.
I love my NIV pink bible that I bought @ Walmart!..mostly cos it’s lightweight & girly!! Yes, I know that prob. sounds really cheezy! I do have it marked & highlighted, though(not to sound too pious either) HA! I own an NLT that I like also, but not a good study bible w/ commentary!
Margaret Pena – I really like the NET bible. When I don’t have mine with me I can always access that one on my phone/at work.
Ashlie McDonald
I’ve been using my NIV life application study bible since I got baptized in 2004. I love that it has all my notes (I’m an English major and annotate EVERYTHING) and extra special passages are highlighted. My sweet mother gave it to me and she wrote some awesomeness in the front to me. I will treasure it always!!!….but it’d be amazing to get a new Bible!!!
My name is Letha Schrader. I have a Bible that I got in 1993 that I still use! It has fallen off the roof of my car after church…loading the kids into car seats and driving off with it on the roof! The front is being held together with big black binder clips 🙂 I’ve written on every empty white space it had and it has multiple post it notes plastered throughout as well 🙂 Is the Bible you’re giving away on the market yet?
Just finished Beth’s “Stepping Up” study of the Psalms of Ascent. Just wonderful! She used the HCSB translation for each of the Psalms and it was just great. Had never seen it before. I would love to have that Bible! Will be praying for Beth and the team down under!
Susan Paulin
I love my NIV life application study bible as it makes the bible so much easier to understand
I just learned about the HCSB bible and what it stood for. Would love to have this bible. Just love all the Beth Moore studies
My name is Sarah Browne, and my favorite version is the KJV.
I have a fairly new Ryrie Study Bible, but if I had this one I would give it to someone in my Bible Study group who does not have a Study Bible. I love my Ryrie and also my Scofield Study Bible. Our group is going to start “James” next month. Love Beth’s teaching and Bible Studies.
My name is Jennifer Bast and I love the NIV study Bible I received from my parents on my 21st birthday. If God hadn’t made a drastic intervention in our family 3 years prior, I would’ve spent that birthday getting wasted with my Mom at a bar somewhere. Instead, I was delighted to get a Bible for my birthday!!! THAT is some serious transformation!!! Thank you Jesus!!
I don’t mean to enter twice, but I want to add that I am now 33 and that Bible has been with me through SO much! And it shows – on both me and the Bible – LOL!!
Amberley Almarode
I am really liking the online NET Bible. I love how it is descriptive in a new way to open my mind to new insights!
Diane Kuhn- My every-day Bible version is New King James, but my husband has an archealogical study Bible that is neat to use when I’m doing some serious studying or learning.
Tania Scott – My favorite Bible is my NKJV. I have so many notes written in it.
My new favorite bible is The Message for kids! It is the best kids Bible I have seen (and we have lots!). I would love this Bible to read with my oldest son who is now 9 and really into reading the Word! I think he would think it is awesome. Thanks!!
My name is Faith Baker. I havent found a perfect type of bible yet, but I been following this blog for about a year and would LoVe a bible that Beth would endorse!!!
My name is Lichelle Nanninga and I love my bible that has 4 different translations in it… So hey I don’t have this one.. I would love it!
My favourite is my NIV which I have used for about 25 years.
My favorite Bible is a NIV Study Bible I bought over 20 years ago. It is worn out from years of notes and markings in it and is now held together with duct tape. I no longer take it to church or Bible study with me, but I continue to use it at home. It is treasured. I love to go through it and remember where I was on my journey with the Lord when I jotted down a certain note or underlined a passage.
Hi!! Tracie Gadd from Fairfield Ohio
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this particular translation & would love to have a new Bible!
I have an old Max Locado study Bible held together with, the first time i did it, grey duct tape. The second time, a yr ago, black duct tape. The reason why those colors, it’s all I had in the house at the time. I wish I could shpw a picture because it’s in need of more help! hahahaha!! The fun part of a new one, for some is, you get a new one! hehehe! The hard part is what about all the love you have in your old one? I would love the experience. My first Max Locado was given to me by my mom who got it at a yard sale in good condition. I love it! I would love to close the old beautiful friend and start with a new unless there is someone on this list that doesn’t have one, well then I would hope you pick them! Boy will they be blessed! Thanks for doing this girls!!

My full name is Tiffany Brown & I actually have 2 current favorite Bibles. The first one is The Women’s Study Bible (NKJV). I like the NKJV for church because that’s the version my pastor uses. Then, my other favorite is The Quest Study Bible (NIV). I love that it has a side column beside the scripture passages with common questions about the verses. There are also extended notes on some passes for further study. Plus it has lots of study helps in the back, which is also helpful.
I love my Max Lucado Bible….his insight is also inspiring. The downside, there is not much room to write notes, and having just finished “Mercy Triumphs”, I am all about writing notes in my Bible.
Loved that study, love you ladies!!
Sandra Hazen
Hi! My name is Sonya Linde and the last few weeks I’ve been telling myself I need to get a study Bible. I only have one Bible so I would have to say that is my favorite but I know that a study Bible is what I need to get more out of my practice.
Blessings…
Lynn Hanf

Favorite Bible is my NIV with commentaries by Chuck Swindoll. It is tattered and well used. Love it!
“Hello, Friend!”
I actually have a simple slimline NIV Bible that I love to carry around and write in. Yes, I have a bunch of study Bibles, etc., but for some reason, I have always liked that specific one.
The Bible that you are giving away looks quite interesting. I love the thought of having the new technology included with it. It gives you the best of both worlds.
Esther Thole- My favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 17:8, I have small purse Bible and by Bigger Bible at home. I have been reading the HCSB on line and like that. My purse Bible is the Message. My favorite Bible is my husband’s Bible from his grandpa is full of old notes and is stained up. He got a new Bible every year. I love that tradition
One birthday, some 50+ years ago, my aunt asked what I wanted for my birthday. I wanted a red Bible. At that time you could find mostly black covers. She finally found one for me. I still have it, she passed many years ago. Sometimes I will take it from my cedar chest and just read for the afternoon. I love new Bibles also, but never as much as this one.
Jolene Johnson–My favorite is the Bible i received upon graduation from HS….many moons ago…and it is worn and tattered….just recently started using Message/NET on-line and love the simplicity of both.
Hey! NKJ Zondervan Study Bible is so far a fav. – Misti Bodker
My Bible is falling apart and I have been searching for a new one. I currently have an NLT.
Kim Allnutt
Becky Mixson – My favorite Bible is the one with my husband’s name engraved on the front. I think I gave it to him before we were married, so it was at least 22 years ago! He never used it, so when I began my first Beth Moore study and she read from the NIV, I started using his. Opening it up is like visiting an old friend, but I have begun to wonder if I should get one of my own! Maybe I will just use Beth’s instead 🙂
This is fun! I have two favorite Bibles. Two hard to choose, one is NASB plain and simple with much history of my walk with God. The other, a gift from my husband, NASB MacArthur Study Bible. Blessings to all of you and prayers to Beth and Amanda.
Jamie Green. My favorite Bible is my ESV Study Bible, but I have to smile at the notes I wrote in my high school Living Bible– such a drama queen!
Summer Stewart – My Bible is an NIV with lessons from Charles Swindoll. I believe it’s called a Life Application version – or something similar. The leather is falling apart, so I’ve had it in a cover for years. I got it when I graduated HS in 1997 – it’s been with me through a lot of growing up.
I love my Life Principles Bible, NASB.
Susan Sandeno, and my favorite Bible is my New American Standard Study Bible. I love a good study Bible!
My favorite bible is a New Living Translation. It is pink and green and ever so cute,I cover it with a vera bradley cover too! I love it!!
Danna Brown
My fav is the NIV but the current bible in my home that brings me such joy is the Dake that I gave my sweet husband after one year of marriage. Next Tuesday 3/20/12 we will celebrate 30 years of marriage! and he still teaches from that bible. Love all you girls.
Hi my name is Karen Ledbetter.I don’t have a favorite bible. I like to check them all out : )
Angela Dean — NLT has been so eye opening for me. A bible in a language we can really understand is a blessing and brings all of us closer to our Lord.
Brenda Hunt- Quest Study Bible
Jean Schlosser My favorite bible is the NIV. It was given to me from my mentor, a precious elderly man. The most
precious man I’ve ever met (next to my husband) and
the pages are getting very worn.
Dianne Rich
I’m a fan of the NIV!
What an awesome treat!! My name is Susan Bilberry. My favorite bible is the Life Application Study Bible. This version is the New Living Tranlation. And I have added tabs. (smile)
My precious bro in law, who is a pastor of the Celebrate Recovery Ministries for his church gave it to me several years ago, when I told him I needed a good study bible. And although I love it…..I also love to go on Bible Gateway.com…and pull up bible versus with several versions of the bible being viewed at the same time to see the similarities and the slight differences in wording. It is very useful when I am making bookmarks or greeting cards, as well.
Blessings to all.
