(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
Melissa Houser
My favorite Bible is my old black leather RSV one. I’ve been looking for a good study Bible though, so this would be perfect.
I love a new Bible – I like to pick up a different translation and study version for my daily devotional reading once in a while, but for my study Bible I love my Spirit Filled Study Bible – it is written all over by both me and my girls, and is falling apart a little bit (the back is letting lose so I used that packing tape with the string in it to reattach it, and so far it is holding). It was a gift from my husband, and while I will never part with it, it might be time for it to have a buddy who will go place for it so it can rest on my desk.
Hi, I’m Shayne Welch and I’m addicted to my Inductive International New American Standard Bible. For all you Kay Arthur peeps out there, you know the one I’m talking about. Love it! It’s pretty ragged and sad looking, but it’s mine and chock full of little notes and insights that the Father has spoken directly to me over the years.

I love my Life Application Bible.

Right now I am loving my NIV Large Print Translation… my eyes are failing me at forty 🙂
I have (and love) my NIV bible (the older version)…the print is getting smaller :), so I’ve been thinking about getting a new one. Would love to try a different version & really like the QR codes! If I don’t win, may have to head to the bookstore to check it out.
Meredith Smith ~ My favorite bible has to be my NIV study bible I received as a High School graduation present from my parents. It went to college with me and has been my old faithful for many years now. I love all the highlighted sections and comments I have written over the years. I have bought several other bibles since receiving that one but it continues to be my favorite.
My favorite bible is a youth study bible I got when I was fifteen. It is emerald green and
totally falling apart. It has many tears dried on it and time spent with it. It is an old friend.
My favorite Bible so far is the ESV English Standard Version Study Bible. 🙂
My favorite is most definitely the New Womens Devotional Bible. I love reading the features in between pages of scripture.
Missy Speir
That’s a tough one – it’s a toss-up between my NIV Keyword Study Bible and my hardcover NLT (which is beautifully adorned with duct tape – you’re not the only one Lindsee)! All my Bibles give me a warm & fuzzy feeling, though. 😉
Keyword by AMG? Aren’t they the bomb? Mine is NASB. Fantastic notes! Blessings to Dr Zodiates.
I am using the NIV but would love to have this one to try out. I am a creature of habit and tend to stick with the same one over and over.
My trusty NIV thats the perfect size to tote around my house and to church activities. I’d love a new study Bible though!
I love ESV!
Kathy Fraley
My favorite bible is the NIV, I have been through many of them!
Dawn Blount
My favorite, the one where I know which side of the page a passage I’m searching for is on, is my NIV Quest.
I enjoy the biblegateway app. on the iPad. I can view several different translations. Only problem – I cannot mark all over it. You can access biblegateway through http://www.biblegateway.com.
Stephanie Collins
NLT
My current bible is NIV but would love to try one that is “smart phone friendly”! 🙂
Janelle Miller
Thank you so much for this chance. I love my Bible, but would love a new one. Mine is 12 years old….we’ve been through a lot!!!
Allison Perrine
My favorite Bible is my RVR/ESV Parallel Bible. Spanish and English side by side!
COOL!
Cindy Rader
My favorite has been my NIV Study Bible that my sweet husband gave me! How fun is this!!
Lynne Nabors
Would love to have a Dake Reference Bible.
Crystal Quanbeck – I am currently enjoying my TNIV Study Bible!
Hi! My favorite bible is my ESV. Love, love, love it! But I also love (love, love) comparing different versions of the bible. That’s something I learned from Beth and Melissa in a class here in Houston. =)
Just being introduced to the English Standard Version on my new iphone, but needing a new Bible too!!!
Sarah Mize
I’m a Holman fan, but have a fondness for the ESV Study Bible! 🙂
I have to say that my Life Application Bible is my favorite.
I want to win!!!! My name is Amy Hawk. My current favorite is the NET Bible, recommended by Beth. My Scripture verse this morning was James 1:6, “But he must ask in faith without doubting…” SO, I have no doubt I am going to win Beth’s Bible!: )
My favorite bible right now is The Message on the internet. I feel as if I’ve gone backwards in comprehension as I live in 3 very short, very blessed and very hard stages of life (or as I lovingly refer to as “baby jail”) with a 4 yr old, 2 yr old and pregnant with a baby due in a few months. This mama needs it dumbed down to the easiest level. BUT would love to take it another step deeper after the Lord blesses me with a sweet baby girl-we have 2 boys right now-in a few months and I lose the pregnant brain. 🙂
Eva Lawhorn – I love my NIV but lately have been drawn to my Life Application Study Bible (NLTV) too.
Brittany Alexander.
As a new believer I have been reading children’s bibles to learn bible stories and my favorite is the Jesus storybook bible.
Brittany – I love this!! What a great idea! This makes me want to pull out my storybook Bible and do the same. The miracles of God are truly unfathomable. I don’t ever want to become so familiar with them that I lose sight of His awesome power! Thank you so much for sharing this – God used it to really spark something inside of me today!
The Little Golden Book one is good as well. It is very true to the Biblical text. I love reading it with my son, and I have noticed things from reading it with him that I miss when reading my Bible.
Rejoicing with you as you come to know and love Him more. He loves you so!
April Jones
My favorite Bible is my NIV Life Application Bible. It was given to me by my Dad. He inscribed Numbers 6:24 – 26 on the “this Bible Belongs To” page. Whenever I am especially missing, he died 4 years ago, I look at that verse and remember that my God has promised me peace!
Dianne Ewin
Years ago I was actually paid for playing for a friend’s wedding. So I bought a Quest NIV paperback Bible. As you can imagine it has fallen apart long ago, but I sure love it with all the precious notes I have taken. Thinking back, it was what I used with my first Beth Moore Bible study!!
My favorite is Stormie Omartian’s The Power of a Praying Woman’s Bible (NIV). I had one and my bff, Beth, liked it so I bought her one for her birthday in February. In April of that same year, she died of cancer. She was 48 years old. That was three years ago and I use my TPPW bible as my every day bible still. I don’t have a Holman version and would love one!
My name is Stephanie Dickerson. I have had several Bibles over the years, but my absolute favorite is my first. It was an original NIV Student Bible with the wave graphic on the front and everything. I bought it with my own money not long after I started going to church and I still love picking it up to read and seeing what I’ve highlighted over the years and which pages are trying to fall out!
I would really LOVE to win this Bible for my friend. She has been through so much heartache and stress for several years, but especially 2011. I started to write the details, but just deleted them. God knows all of them, and they are too complicated to explain quickly. Despite terribly hard circumstances, she has obeyed God and He has given her a shekinah experience in the hard times. The James study (that I am doing now) has had many teaching moments that have ministered to her and to me.
Cheri Windley
I used to work for Lifeway Christian Stores in college (10 years ago!) and I loved loved loved looking through all the bibles. I always went back to my favorite. A standard NIV LARGE print bible. Maybe because I think if the print is bigger my stubborn heart will get the messages much louder and clearer. Lol!
My fave Bible is the Christian Surfers Bible I recieved for donating to them back in the day (GREAT organization) On the front and back cover was a picture of the most gorgeous wave breaking. It was from when I first believed at the age of 24 and I just this fall gave it away to my little brother (now age 24) when he moved out of state. I deeply hope he uses it, and enjoys the notes, doodles, highlights, ect.
Sarah Wheat
One of my favorite Bibles was one I got when I “graduated” from my first grade Sunday School class. It was white and it had my name in gold letters on the front cover. It was my first grown-up Bible!
I love the New Living Translation …it is the one I am using to try and Memorize the book of James for our Bible study. =)
Amy Golden—NIV
Tammie Hull – I have used an NIV for my personal quiet times; I like to use a variety to study with but my next version of choice would have to be the NET.
I grew up with a Thompson Chain bible. Always loved it… now I read from the Life Application NIV. 🙂 – Amy Noble
Kim Morgan
Zondervan’s NIV Study Bible!!!
Jackie Culbreth
NIV Bible
My fav for reading is The New Living Bible or The Message (paraphrase)
My fav for memorizing is NKJV
My fav for Bible Study is NIV
I guess I couldn’t just pick one!!
Thanks for the giveaway,
Carrie Phillips
Julie Cranford
I’ve used the NIV Study Bible for years now and love it but have recently been using the HCSB online quite a bit as well as the NET. I love to see the new technology incorporated – how fun! Thanks for thinking of us!
I love seeing them in the hotel drawers. It gives me such peace!!
