(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
my favorite version is the NIV bible..since it was the first one I had on college…
but I have the NASB now and mine is worn out…need a new one…so hope to be the winner…thanks

My name is Karla Coffey and right now I use the hcsb.
I love having multiple translations available to reference. I can’t really pick one! I do really love the amplified version but I always joke that is NOT the translation I prefer for memory work 🙂
Lianne Schwartz from Wasilla Alaska! The Bible give away is an awesome idea and sooo biblical…giving out the Word of God!! 🙂 Love the blog and the ministry of Living Proof. Thank you so very much for pouring out your lives for the sake of our sweet Jesus!
Linda Butts – My favorite bible is the NASB for studying and the Message for plane trips and work away from home.
My name is Lisa Flippin from Memphis, TN. Oh how I love to study God’s Word. I use several in my teaching, however, one of my favorites is my Life Application in the New American Standard, because as I use several study Bibles, this helps me in giving a wrap up with an application of how I can put the WORD into action!! I want to be a DOER of the WORD, not only a listener. Two of my Study Bibles are literally falling apart. Would love a new one!!
I have been using the NIV Life Application Study Bible for the last several years and like it quite a bit. Hard to say if it’s my favorite though. I really haven’t used that many different ones over the course of my life to make such a bold statement! Thanks for the fun giveaway. May the winner be blessed with many years studying HIS Word in what is truly the best book, no matter the translation or format.
Kristin Aamodt
My name is Dawn Sperry. My favorite bible is the NIV I’m using now but I use Biblegateway online a lot too to quickly referece a verse if time is tight.
At the beginning of his sermons, right before reading scripture, my pastor has everyone raise their bibles and repeat, “This is my bible, God’s Word. If I read it and respond to it, it will change my life.” So very true.
Katie Sheron-
Currently using the NIV study Bible, but really wanting a different sword!
One of my very favorite bibles is the Joyce Meyer Enjoying Everyday Living Amplified Bible!

I LOVE Bible Study AND technology. This sounds like a great resource for anyone. (My favorite Bible is an engraved one given to my son by our church when he was in the third grade. Tyler died suddenly at age 16; althouh I know he is having the time of his life in heaven, I feel like his Bible is a little piece of him left behind.
Deana Dupler
I love my NIV and my HCSB. It is so heavy!!
My favorite bible is my hot pink and orange compact NIV that fits right in my purse. I love the notes I have made over the years as well as the “notes” made by my then toddler.
I am on my second Inductive Study Bible. Gave up the first one when Genesis just fell out.
But for doing Beth Moore studies, having the NIV app on my Nook (Barnes & Noble e-reader) is awesome.

Blessings!
My very favorite Bible is my Amplified Bible. It has seem me through years of tears and growth, ups and downs. His Word especially through the Amplified has been life to me! It is now in pieces – literally – and needs a Bible Doctor to repair it. Next came my Women’s NIV Bible which my daughter gave to me. As I have used this Bible I have written many notes and prayers to her so at some time she may have it back with my love (and yes it too needs repairs). (Her favorite Bible was accidentally left on Amtrak as she exited the train in a hurry – they don’t give you much time to gather and get off! So we have been praying it has ministered much to wherever it has traveled!)
T Thank you for the possibility of winning this one. The Lord knows who needs it. Blessings to you for giving and blessings to the receiver!
Who doesn’t love a new Bible?
My favorite is my NIV Study Bible. Love all the references so I can go to different scriptures and study myself. The print is getting a little small though:)
My favorite Bible recently has been the NIV Women of Faith Study Bible! Blessings to all!
This is fun! That bible looks great and it would be so fun and inspiring to have Beth’s! I have a New American Standard that I’ve had for about 27 years and it has blue painter’s tape all over it! I love that bible, though. My daughter gave me an Amplified three years ago and I recently got a New Living. I love them all, and I really love a study bible!

What an interesting looking study Bible. I’m always comparing passages in deferent versions on the hunt for a fresh perspective. Thank you for this offer. I’m sure someone will be very blessed to receive it! Smiles…Angie Herring 🙂
Marsha Braswell – It’s so hard to pick a favorite because I have a few. The one I’m using right now is the Celebrate Recovery Bible. I lead our Celebration Station group at our church. That’s the children’s version of Celebrate Recovery. While their parents or other caregivers are in CR, we’re down the hall learning to love Jesus and turn our hurts over to Him. I have children from ages 5-13 in our group – they have such enormous emotional needs. Many of them are not from Christian homes. I’m finding that the CR Bible has so much information in it for everybody – not just those who are in Recovery.

My very favorite bible of all is my New International Version of the Women’s devotional bible 2. I used to take it with me to worship service and bible study, but it is so tattered, the binding is all but gone and more than a few pages are falling out. My husband has threatened a number of times to toss it out, but I have grown over the years with it. Recently I’ve become intrigued with various renditions of the bible and have begun studying out of a student’s bible. I just finished Beth’s study on James and loved Melissa’s input on the original biblical writings. I hope to continue studying with depth.
My grandparents from Greenville, SC sent me a picture bible. I lived in Mo. I still read it some 60 years later. Those words brought peace and still do. Oh, it has lots of family history written in the front. The name: The Bible for Young Folks. Copyright 1945. edited by John Stirling. It is written so young folk could unterstand it.
Susan Provo – my favorite Bible is the NIV Thompson Chain Reference but I have several other translation but I don’t have the HCSB so that would be really nice.
I have a NIV Study Bible that I use. When I go to visit my grandmother, I love to go through her worn pages of her bible. She has written many notes in the margins. It is precious.
I am 60 years old, a wife, mother, and grandmother. I have just finished the James study with our precious Bible Study Girls at our church, liberty Hill Presbyterian church. I am so committed to Bible literacy in the body of Christ. It is one the biggest joys of my life to see these beautiful ladies get into the Word and get so excited! I am also blessed to be a part of a group of 8 ladies in our community that grew up together, our children grew up together and now many of our grandchildren are close in age.
It is remarkable to have lifelong friends to sit beside and study the Word. We are more like family.
My favorite Bible was the Open Bible…but then I purchased a Key Word Study Bible that has a Hebrew and Greek dictionary in the back! I looovvee it!
Thanks for your ministry to all of us. Beth always says we are much loved, but so Re you all.

My favorite Bible was my NRSV student study Bible. I got it when I was helping with confirmation, more years ago than I care to tell. I still miss it! I gave it away when some of the youth did a Bible gathering to send them to missionaries in Africa. Ya can’t pass up an opportunity like that now can you!
By the way I bought myself a Precious Moments Bible a couple of years ago, I wanted an NKJV and that is “purse size”, it was the only one I could find. I have pastel Bible tabs in it, very girly girl.
This is so awesome. I feel that Beth giving away this bible is an extension of her James study. love it <3

Jill Sprinkle – My FAVORITE Bible is my Women’s NKJV Study Bible from about 12 years ago!! Started doing Beth’s studies with it…….love it!!! It’s full of my handwritten notes, all ratty and with duct tape….I have gotten another….but it’s not the same. Always go back to my old one! 🙂
Janice Rempel
My favorite Bible is my NIV Student Bible that my parents gave me when I was 14 (I am 38). It is tattered and falling apart, well used and beat up. It has travelled all over with me.
Jennifer Shuler
My favorite Bible is the In Touch Ministries Edition of the NASB. The margins are huge, and I have space to put notes, my own cross references, etc. I also love the feel of it. The leather is blue and SO soft!
What a sweet idea. The scripture comes to mind ” He (herself) who refreshes others will himself (herself:)) be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25 NIV
Thanks for thinking of us Beth.
Blessings,
Annette

I DO love getting a new Bible!!! My favorite Bible is a black leather covered NKJV Bible given to me by my husband on our first married Christmas together in 1988. See, I was not a Christian when we married, but I was baptized into Christ 4 months after marrying him. So that Christmas, he gave me my Bible. I used that Bible for the first 22 years of our marriage. We paid as much to have it recovered as he paid when he bought it. I have lovingly retired the Bible, but I bring it out to study. I love looking over the margin notes I made so early in my walk with Christ.
My name is Sally Henson….. my favorite is my women’s NIV devotional….. love it…. i just bought the Jesus Calling devotional but its hard to let go of the old….
My favorite Bible is my NKJV Leather Bound Bible that the elders at the church I grew up attending gave me for high school graduation. 17 years later, it is well worn, filled with notes & highlights and has been on several mission trips with me too. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!
My favorite Bible is pink!!!
Tonya Roberts—–it was one I won in 1st grade. White leather with my name in gold and gold edges. Thought is was SO beautiful!! Hey, maybe it’s time for me to win another one….. =^)
My favorite bible is the very first bible I recieved. My precious mother gave it to me in 1972 when I was 7 years old. It’s child size, zips around and has a beautiful picture of Jesus with all the little children gathered around him. On the front cover my mother wrote these words to me, “this book will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from this book”. Fourty one years later these sweet words still make a difference in my life everyday.
I could use a new bible!
My favorite is my 1984 NIV Life Application Study Bible, because it and I have gone through a LOT together, but my new favorite version is the NET, thanks to Beth’s references to it.
Laura Holowachuk
Hey Siestas, My name is Patti Bennett and I just purchased a new ESV bible. I am involved in CBS here in Indiana and we will be using this version in the fall. My old NIV is very worn, highlighted and underlined and I hate to break in a new one however, just think of the new highlighting and underlining I can do.
Rhonda Blevins
I love my NASB but, I definitely need a new one (or this one rebound) since have of my new testament is falling out!! It has made it convenient to study James though, I can pull it out and lay it on the table while I thumb through the rest of the scriptures!! 🙂
My name is Heather Bryant. My favorite bible is red with a really cool red diamond fabric on it. It’s a standard NIV however it was the first bible I’ve read cover to cover. I started when I rededicated my life to Christ on March 26, 2002. I have all sorts of notes in it….most of which came from Beth Moore studies. 🙂 the pages are beginning to fall out as well. I’ve heard I can get it fixed but there are precious memories in it and all sorts of marks whether tears or food from use. It is very special and i would love to have a new one that could help take my walk even deeper with God.
Hi! Thanks for offering this new study bible. My favorite bible is my good ole king james version that I recieved when I was confirmed as a new member at 12 into our church. Its got my name on the cover and its precious to me. I was also baptized on the same day I recieved this bible and it was a day when God showed me that He is faithful and that I am never alone; that He keeps His promises in big and small ways. I was the oldest of four children and I was very excited about being confirmed. It meant that even though I was still a child, I was crossing over into adulthood as a member all on my own into the church. I remember that my mother’s morning was hectic. She didnt have time to stop and fill up her gas tank because she didnt want to be late for this special service. All throughout the day though this was on my mind. I had a terrible fear of running out of gas and being stranded. And I knew very well that on a Sunday most places would not be open for business. Twenty years ago and before cell phones, blue laws kept most businesses closed on Sundays (even gas stations) and if any were open they closed early. It got later and later and though I loved the ceremony and the fellowship in the back of my mind, I was gripped with fear. When it was time to go, I got “shotgun” mostly because it was my special day, which gave me a front row seat for God’s work in action. As we pulled out of the parking lot, the fumes we were running on, ran out. Down the hill we went and I remember thinking that the worst had happened. I prayed and I was scared. My mother was tense and worried. About half way down the hill, I just remember thinking that this was all in God’s hands, that we were going to be ok. I don’t know why I thought that because to my 12 year old mind this was one of my worst fears coming to life, but it was peaceful for me even before the ride ended. The car slowed to a stop –just across the street from a gas station that was closing up for the night. My mom ran over to ask for help and three men appeared out of no where to help us across the street and the station stayed open later just so we could get enough gas to get home. Though it may seem a small miracle to some, to me it showed me that God keeps His promises, even if our faith seems as small as a mustard seed against some of our biggest fears and I just remember thinking He is there, always. Hes got us in His hands. It was very powerful to me and I think of that story alot when I look at my favorite bible. 🙂
For a long time I used the Amplified Bible, I absolutely loved it, but I have taped it on every side, inside and out, even the spine has come off, and been glued back on, so I had to let go of my wonderful Amplified Bible, and begin using an NIV which was gifted to me, by my nieces one Mother’s Day. Though I love the NIV, I find that I just can not put away my Amplified Bible, it sits on my dresser as a reminder, pages sticking out an all, as a memorial to the significance of God’s word to me.
My name is Olivia Hart! My favorite bible has been the John McCarthur study bible, includes commentary.
Laurie Finney. My favorite bible is the Amplified Bible! 🙂
Mary Vandiver- My favorite is my “The Message” Bible. It helps me to understand God’s Word in a whole fresh new way. I know that I need to study to get the real meanings of the words, but I find this a wonderful devotional study. I love God’s Word, and I love studying it.
Susan Jobe – my favorite study Bible is my NIV Life Application Bible and I also keep another NIV Bible closeby that has a better concordance and cross reference.
