(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My current fave is the New Inductive Study Bible since it has very wide margins for me to write notes.
I am also enjoying the portability of the YouVersion app. Since today’s my birthday, winning a new Bible would just top off a great day!

Right now I’m loving my Thompson Chain Reference Bible. My dad used to have a giant leather NASV that flopped open just perfectly, and I loved it. 🙂 Thanks so much for the chance to win this!!
My favorite study bible is the Full Life Study Bible. It has awesome footnotes as well as expanded notes on pertinent subjects. NIV version

I love the Life Application Study Bible! NIV has always been my favorite translation, but NLT is beginning to “take over” in that department!
Love Beth Moore and all her studies. I was blessed to be able to attend her conference in Boise, ID several years ago. She will be back in Boise this May and looking forward to hearing her and all the worship team minister to me personally. I could use a good study Bible. I have given most all of my Bibles away throughout the years, and the one i use now does need taping……..In Christ’s to ALL!
Name: Cathy DeGraffenreid
My study Bible is the Nelson Study Bible NKJV.
I have my mom’s NIV bible. I love seeing her writings in the columns of the pages and her underlined verses.
My sentimental favorite is the Bible my mother-in-law and father-in-law gave me when I was saved. It old and well worn and even has a bite out of the spine that my dog gave it years ago! Many pages are falling out as well. I keep hanging on to it because I have so many notes and underlines in it. It is the King James Scofield Bible. I read and study with other versions but this one Bible is just special.
My name is Christine Murray. I have a NKJ Ryrie Study Bible that I bought myself when I was in college (over 20 years ago). A few years ago I bought a cover for it to cover up its age, and I thought I’d never replace it. But now that I’m FINALLY considering getting a smart phone, I might actually consider this Bible you talked about. How neat to be able to do quick research on a particular passage!

Cheryl Kramer and the only study Bible I have is the NIV Life Application Bible I received as a birthday present from my mom over 20 years ago.
I have deeply loved my Life Application Study Bible, NIV. I am really feeling ready though to move on to something else. I love looking at different translations til I ‘get it.’ Sounds like Beth got a great new bible!
I love my One Year Chronological Bible-NLT!
Barb Anderson
Oh, by the way, what version of new bible did Ms. Beth get? Just wondering. 🙂 –Grandmamitz
I would love a new Bible….mine as you have said is very worn out, we’ve been through so very much together, a divorce, the death of my son, and then my mother. It is a NIV and it has seen it’s better days, actually I guess you could say it has seen the worst of days but the better days are in front of me. I would love to start a new season with a new Bible….love you guys. And PS….mine is clear tape, not duct tape, haha.
Hi! I’m Elaine Brady and my fav bible is the Women of Faith Bible (NIV). I purchased it almost 15 years ago shortly after I was saved while I was in high school. I wanted a Bible with a hard cover to make it through my rough high school years. I picked this one b/c it had lots of stuff to encourage me as a young woman in Christ (I didn’t have positive Christian female role models growing up). Well it made it though high school, college and now a number of years since. It’s been thrown around, beat up, taped over, marked, highlighted, scratched, dented, stained with crumbs (God and I like to meet over food/ snacks. I always like to have something to fill my tummy and my soul. God on the other hand, doesn’t eat much, at least not that I can see with my human eyes- lol!), and the Lord only knows how many tears have baptized its pages. I’ve bought newer Bibles, but when it comes down to it, I keep going back to my old, tattered friend. There’s just so much history. And even when I do finally decide to retire it, it will always have a place on my self. 🙂
My favorite Bible is the Living spirit New King JAmes Bible.
I love my Life Applicaation Bible. I am doing the study of James at my church now. Beth, i think this is the best study yet. The pages of James in my bible is so worn from all the studing. I would LOVE to win this bible. I need a new one.
My name is Stephanie Johnson. My favorite bible is the side by side NIV and The Message Bible, it’s nice to compare the two versions to get the whole picture on a subject.
I love my NIV Study Bible but I’m learning to love the ESV version that Beth references in the James bible study.
Kaylee Vida – My favorite is a smaller, blue paperback NIV that I picked up off the bargain table of the Christian bookstore when I was in college. I got it because it was light and would fit easy in my backpack to carry back and forth to class. But, since it was always with me, it has a lot of underlines, highlights and notes. It has started falling apart, so I am ready for something new to love!
The Bible I love most is my Women’s Study Bible NIV. It’s a paperback, though, which is just about ripped from the pages.
This is like asking what’s my favorite girl scout cookie. ack!
Love NAS. Memorized so many verses from that version. Love Love Love The Message. Paints such a beautiful picture on paper. Do Bible study from my NIV Study Bible that I first received when working college summers at TBarM in the Texas hill country. Marked and highlighted so that I’ll never let it part from me.

Carli Call–
My favorite is my first! An old NLT that I think I bought at Walmart or somewhere for pretty cheap and it has entire chapters just pushed back in there because it’s falling apart so badly!!
Romona Smith
Oh how I love Bible Study! I love to compare verses in multiple vrsions to better understand the text. NIV is my main study Bible – however, it is falling apart so it does not leave home anymore. I purchased a personal size large print NKJV to travel with – lighter weight but I miss the study notes. Love love love the blog and the idea of a Bible give away – it will be a blessing to whoever wins it!
Anne Countryman- my favorite Bible is the NKJV one that belonged to my mom…
Missy Eversole – That looks like an amazing Bible!!! My favorite Bible is my NIV LIfe Application Bible – I’ve had it since I became a believer 10 years ago!
It looks like a cool Bible. If i win it, I’ll have to buy a smartphone. My favorite Bible is the one my husband bought me that that mas 2 versions side by side, the NLV & the Message.
My favorite Bible is the Bible that I purchased a few days after I became a Christian! It is a pink NIV Study Bible. It is pretty tattered and worn now, but I love to go back and look at the notes that I wrote as a brand new believer!
My favorite is the NASB 🙂
Jeanette Dahm
The first bible I used after being born again was the Serendipity Bible Groups NIV. It was amazing with the discussion questions on the side. It is an easy bible for beginners. I have so many lines highlighted because every word jumped off the page into my heart and I had so many “aha moments” using this one. Good luck to whoever wins your new bible. The word is alive in whatever version we have used. Praise God.
My name is Angelique Heskett and my favorite “reading” bible is The Living Bible translation version. My favorite study bible is still the old and true “Thompson Chain Reference Bible”
I just completed the James Mercy Triumphs bible study! I attend Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville, MN. Our Senior Pastor’s wife is the author of Table Life, a book that Beth was so kind to endorse. My favorite bible is my pink Women’s Devotional Bible (NIV). This is the bible that has seen me through the past 17 years of parenting. I bought it to take on my first women’s retreat to Trout Lake Camp in 1995. My toddler boy scribbled on the inside from cover and my toddler girl made her scribbles on the inside back cover.
My favorite study Bible is the Student bible NIV by Zondervan.
Kelly Cantrell
My name is Vicki Koons. My all-time favorite Bible was one my mom gave me in 1988. It was The Everyday Bible (New Century Version) and I loved it… to death! It is stained, worn, pages marked up, binding cracked, with crinkled pages. I haven’t used it daily in years, it’s too delicate, but I still love it!
Trisha Bearden- The Student Bible, NIV, by Zondervan Publishing, Philip Yancey and Tim Stafford. I just loved this bible because it was the bible I had as a new follower of Jesus Christ. I received it when I began attending church at age 16 from my youth pastor and used it until age 26 (I’m turning 30 this year). It has served as a portrait of my early years with Christ…it has a rubber band around it to keep the pages from falling out of it! Pages tethered, corners bend, highlighted up and written all over! (I wish I could post a picture). I hope my next bible demonstrates more than what the first 10 years of my walk with Christ have! Good ‘stones of reminders” of time spent with the Lord in those pages 🙂
My name is Lori Mooney. My favorite Bible is my NIV Quest my husband gave me on our first anniversary. It was really falling apart about a year ago when our pastor preached a Mother’s Day sermon from the Bible that his mother had read to him from for so many years. Right after that I had it recovered by this little old book binder and he let me pick exactly how I wanted it to look. It is so special to me and has so many little things in it that remind me of my children and my husband! The tabs are even Noah’s ark from when I had my son Noah! I can sometimes just see how something is written in it and get emotional! 🙂
Open my eyes to behold wondrrous things out of your word
Psalms119:18
My name is Darlene Caughron
My favorite Bible is the Application Study Bible NIV
I have been thur many Beth Moore Bible studies with this Bible I can’t wait to see who wins this Bible
Hilda Simmons
My favorite Bible translation is NIV, someone gave me a Life Application Bible, NIV, in 1988. Some years later I found Beth Moore’s Bible studies.
Who knew I would need this Bible? I believe that is God who had a “knowing” about me.
My favorite bible is my NIV/The Message parallel bible. I just love having different versions side by side. I should have not ordered it in large print since my vision is normal…it resulted in a HUGE Bible that is not so easy to lug with two kids and a purse to church lol.(Anyone seen the parody I like big books?lol) Great for at home. I refused to put my last name on the front cover having convinced myself that it would leave me single forever! Now that I am happily married, I love seeing just my first name on the front. It reminds me that this is just how God sees me…just as me!
Wendy Rietvelt-I have a soft cover NIV Bible that I paid $1 for it. It went through 7 years of BSF and has been through all of my Beth Moore studies. It has traveled the world with me on mission trips. And yes…it is covered now in blue (to match the cover) duct tape! Love it!

Psm 119:18
I just purchased “Get Out Of That Pit” by Beth Moore. I love it. I am studying it, and I’m going to “come out of that Pit. I’ve taken many of Beth Moore’s Workbook bible Studies at Mill Creek Batist Church in Radcliff, KY. I loe them. I would really like to have this free Bible. I amd retired and I live on my Social Security Check, alone.
Thank you,
Dorothy Smallwood, 1855 S,Wilson Road Lot 391, Radcliff KY, 40160
I love my current bible. It’s about 20 years old, has creased pages, more bookmarks than it needs, old camp flyers, water stains, ink stains, cracked binding. I keep it at home most of the time now because I got a new, smaller bible a few months ago. But my 20 year old bible is the one I always turn to when I to do some serious studying.
Blue letter bible — because all the great references and versions are just a click away!
My favorite bible would have to the NIV. Thanks!
I was raised Catholic. When I was to be confirmed, I had to attend a weekend retreat called Teens Encounter Christ. My connection to God was established in a profound way. The experience was the closest I’ve ever felt to Jesus.
I received a King James Bible that all of the teens at the retreat signed. I cherish it even though I prefer to use other translations now.
I have never won anything so how fun would this be to be my first! 🙂
I love my Kay Arthur – New Inductive Study Bible!
