(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My favorite Bible is my NIV Study Bible. We’ve been through a LOT together!
My favorite Bible is a leather NIV Bible that my husband gave me 28 1/2 years ago on our wedding day with my new married name engraved on it. I have had other Bibles since then but that one is my favorite!!
My favorite Bible is the Parallel Bible with 4 translations. I would love to win this one as my Parallel Bible does not have the HCSB and my Parallel is not a study Bible.
Thank you so much for offering it as a giveaway!
Hi! My name is Lora Dalton and I love my Complete Jewish Bible! I am always looking for new study tools AND ways to use my iPhone! Blessings to LPM!!!
My most memorable Bible was an NIV paperback New Testament I got in the mail from the Billy Graham Association. I had just solidified my faith as being my own, and when I began to read that Bible, I highlighted so much that the pages became yellow. It was so overly highlighted that I was embarrassed to take it out of my dorm room.
I love my Quest study Bible. It’s got lots of tidbits of info beside the scriptures. It’s fun to learn new things that I never even thought about with it.
my favorite bible is my good ol standard King James Version Bible!(:
My favorite Bible is the one my parents brought back from the Holy Land. It’s very special. I have to say, though, my favorite study Bible is my Life Application in NIV.
This is such a tough question. I think, New Living Life Application……not a study Bible so much, though, so I’d LOVE L – O – V – E!!!! to get this one. I started checking out the HCSB when Beth introduced us to it a couple years back I think…..so excited for her involvement in the Colour Conference!!! Love it when we all play on the same ONE team….
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this contents.
I think that my favorite Bible is my small red New Testament that I remember carrying in my small black patent purse to Sunday School as a preschooler. As I got older, I continued to carry the small Bible with me. Tragically, this Bible was lost about 12 years ago when my purse (now a grown up one) was stolen.
My favorite Bible is my wide margin Bible.
Cynthia Ellsworth – My favorite study Bible is NIV. I have a leather Ryrie Study Bible that some wonderful friends surprised me with in my college days (long ago)for Easter. I use it as a reference.
My name is Tara Saloga, my bible that I use all the time is my NKJV study Bible and I love it! I also am very fond of my NIV Life Application Study Bible.
My name is Karen Schroer and I’m a Bible-holic. I love the smell and feel of Bibles. I love comparing the different features in each Bible. But, my very favorite is my NIV Life Application Study Bible. It is bumpy and crinkly and has had highly creamed coffee spilled on it which just endears it even more to me. It has notes from the last few years of my life scribbled throughout. I LOVE this Bible but have been on a quest for a new one…not to REPLACE this beloved one but to use alongside it.
Sue Middeldorf – I like the NIV and also like using the bible on my iPhone.
Paula Gooderum – my favorite (was – it’s so tattered it’s gone home to be with the Lord!) the Living Insights Study Bible (Charles Swindoll).
Robin Hutto
My favorite bible is the Women’s Study Bible. I don’t have a favorite translation yet. I grew up memorizing KJV, but that’s hard for me to read now, but it’s definitely the prettiest version.
Rebecca King
My favorite bible is the NLT Life Application Study Bible.
The favortism is obvious, throughout my season of singleness, I banked on the promises of companionship. Now through the journey together with my man it would be wonderful to have a new bible!
Deanna Norling – my favorite Bible is the one I bought for myself when I was pregnant with my son. I read out of Psalms everyday to that evergrowing belly of mine, and now I have the joy of seeing that big bouncing boy running circles around me!
My favorite Bible is the one my mom bought me while I was in high school. It’s just a simple NIV Bible with a red leather cover. My name (maiden) was printed on the front cover and is still there. I have so many things underlined and written in the margins. I still use it today when I do Bible studies to see how much has changed with me and my understanding of God’s Word. Tammy Burch
Shannon Wilson – my favorite study Bible is my Life Application NLT Study Bible. It has been with me through mission trips, high moments, low moments, and plenty of Beth Moore Bible Studies! You should see how marked up Genesis and Daniel are after going through The Patriarchs and Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy!
Lisa Stone- I have 2 favorites. I read from my LARGE print NIV, and I do my bible study homework with a John MacArthur study bible. It helps me when I have one of my many “what?” moments =)
My favorite bible is the NIV Mom’s Devotional Bible that a friend got me 15 yrs. ago before I started going to church. It is what helped get me there. Even though the first few books are falling apart, I just can’t seem to decide what bible to get. Kim Orcutt
thanks for the giveaway!
Hi! This is Terri Melton in Long Beach, CA. I love my Women’s Devotional Bible (NIV), but often read aloud from my son’s Adventures in Odyssey Bible (ICB).
My favorite Bible is the NIV study bible my mom gave me when I went away to college, many years ago! I would love this new one! Sarah Bigler
I use youversion bible app almost exclusively!! It is awesome!
My favorite Bible is my NIV. It is underlined, highlighted, and bends just right when reading it. I like to compare versions though. Thanks for the opportunity to win a new one.
Stacey Williams – new Orleans
I had a precious moments Bible too!!
Gini Bramlett– right now I’m loving my life application study Bible 🙂
I’m right with ya! John through Revelation has fallen out of my Bible in 4 pieces but I love this Bible. I’ve had it so long, it’s like an old friend. But lately I don’t want to take it anywhere because one of the 4 sections might get lost somewhere and where would I be without the letters of Paul?! 🙂 Guess it might be time to do some Bible shopping….
Julianne Fogt – My favorite bible is the first one I ever purchased for myself back in the 80’s, a Ryrie Study Bible. But it’s long since fallen apart and I am currently enjoying my ESV. The Ryrie is on the shelf waiting to be gifted to my first grandchild. It will probably be there for some time. 🙂
My favorite bible is the NIV Study Bible.
I have been using the same “Open Bible” NASB for about 30 years. It doesn’t have study notes but does have lots of extras. My favorite part is the Biblical Cyclopedic Index at the front that helps me to find almost anything. If I need to locate a scripture but am not sure of its address I usually know what side of the page it’s on because I’ve using it so long. Its like my security blanket.
Nancy Davis – Loved a Life Application Study Bible for a long time.
Becky McAllister – I actually have a Holman Christian standard Bible (in pocket form) and really like the translation. I have a QR on my phone and think this would be a really great way to add to reading the Bible. What will they think of next?
My favorite Bible is the NIV study Bible my then fiance, now husband, gave me when I graduated from nursing school in 1995. It’s so special to me!
Corie Reynolds, and I have to say that I have a couple of favorite Bibles. My first favorite was the one I would sit down with my son when he was 3yrs old to read which was a “My first Bible” bible, complete with wonderful pictures, loved it:). But now i would have to say my NIV is my favorite study bible with all the wonderful side notes!
My favorite Bible is the Spirit Filled Bible. It is full of underlines and notes. I would actually like to win this Bible to give to my daughter who is going through a rough time right now and could use a pick me up!
Betty Simpson
Lynn Dill – Hoover, AL
I have a MacArthur New King James Version Bible that I absolutely adore for Bible study!
I am also learning to love my Bible app on iPhone for quick reference!
Thanks for everyone at LPM we love you!
Leslie Randall-My favorite bible is my NIV. I received it from my late grandmother in 1990 and it means so much to me for several reasons. It is starting to fall apart too. It has been through alot the last 20 years or so, including surviving a hurricane and water damage. I have pages from the back falling out but I keep using it because I love it. I am writing here because I truly had thought it might be time to get a new bible and let this one take a break before it completely falls apart.
I truly enjoy this blog and your website. Thank you for this ministry!
Leila Hollingsworth, Carrollton,GA
I really like using my old NIV Rainbow Study Bible but my FAVORITE Bible is my son’s first Beginner’s Bible with the cartoon-ish illustrations. We read it every day ’til it was falling apart(he’s 16 now and has his own great MacArthur Study Bible.) Maybe someday I can read from the pieces of it to my grandkids!!
P.S. Lindsee, just have your old Bible rebound.
My name is Beverly Penland.
My favorite Bible is my NIV Life Application Study Bible – highlights, comments, tear-stains and all!
My favorite Bible was an NIV Study Bible that I had used,
underlined and written notes in for 20 years only to come
home one day and find that my dog had torn out all the pages and they were strewn all over my living room floor!!
I could not bring myself to throw it away though so I gathered up every page and put them in a big neat stack and just recently was teaching a class and I had made some notes in it so I was able to go back and reference it. An equal favorite Bible is an ugly green hard back that my mother in law gave me when I was newly married and had questions. I had grown up in a church that taught that salvation could be lost and she highlighted MANY verses that proved that was not the case and in the front wrote “turn to page …” then you would turn to that page & a verse would be highlighted then in the margin it would say “turn to page…” God spoke to me so clearly thru those verses and now I know I am his forever! I am keeping it for when God places someone in my path with the
same questions and I will Joyfully pass it on.
I was raised in a Baptist church and we always used the King James Version. I now use the NIV but I have inherited my mother’s old KJV and it has all her notes and highlights in it. It is very special to me and I refer to it all the time.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
My name is Michele Foster and my favorite bible would be my NIV Study Bible. I think it simplifies the word more for me to understand. I am always looking for new tools to help me understand God’s word and would love to get my hands on this new bible!!! Thanks in advance for thinking of all of us Siestas and giving it away!!
My favorite Bible is the Key Word Study Bible, NIV. But I also enjoy the NLT Study Bible which offers wonderful commentary as well. So tough to decide 🙂
My favorite favorite favorite Bible is a Thinline NIV Bible. It is my fave because I know where so many loved verses are! (three quarters of the way through the book, left page, right column, half-way down, highlighted in pink with blue pen writing next to it.) It is as old as the hills I think. I have had it for so many years, it is like my best friend! It has been duct taped so many times, and I never take it out of the house any more because it is falling apart. Where Isaiah 41 is, there is just yellow paper taped over a hole because I spilled coffee on it and the cats licked a hole in the page. LOL. I couldn’t bear to replace it yet at that point. It will always be my favorite, but I need one that I can take to church!
Hi! My name is Jenni Alcantara. Pick ONE favorite Bible? So hard to do! I would say my Apologetics Study Bible, for a weird reason–the print is medium large and there is lots of margin room to write notes..which I do constantly. Love the WORD! God bless you, sisters!
Marcy Larance
My favorite bible is the NIV ,which like you Lindsee, I am in need of a new one as well. The pages are starting to fall out in the back but it’s just so hard to part with the old one when you have all your favorite scriptures marked and you have written so many good notes all through it. Anxious to see who wins this one, it looks really neat.
