(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My favorite is the NLT Stdy Bible. That is what I have done all my studying in and my prayer time. It has a soft leather cover and I love the way it feels. Good luck everyone!
My favorite bible is a pink NKJ that my dad gave me.

My favorite bible was one for new believers that helped me when I was just starting to study on my own.
Tammy Yancey

I love my Message/NIV parallel bible. It is my worn out, marked up, bible study bible. Sometimes I need to be able to look across the page and read the words in a fresh way.
Barbara Roberson
My favorite Bible is the NET Bible online. I love how I can look up Greek/Hebrew words. I hope I get picked for this Bible.
My favorite Bible is an NIV .. compact size with a purple cover … been to Ukraine and back! My sunday school kids love to see that purple cover! I’m using my Life Application Study Bible all the time, and learning to use a Kindle version of the Lutheran Study Bible … so, I’m loving the scanning idea on this Bible! what fun!

Cynthia M Evans — love love my Holman Study bible but it is falling apart…. Just returned from Africa working with former child soldiers http://www.zionproject.com –God is doing amazing things everywhere!!!!!
NIV Study Bible.
Susan Backhaus- The one that I use daily was given to me when I joined the church, an NIV Bible.
Amanda Cross
My favorite Bible is the NET Bible online. I love how I can look up Greek/Hebrew words. I hope I get picked for this Bible.
Laura Deibel ~ my favorite Bible was a gift from my grandparents in 1984!!! My hardcover NIV has been with me through it all and is currently by my side through the study of James.
I was not fancied on a new Bible as I just replaced my childhood Bible a couple of years ago with a bright pink Message Bible. For anyone who knows me Pink is so outside my box and The Message was such a stretch. What I’ve loved over the last few years is that as I’ve read a different translation I’ve been blessed with new verses that jump off the pages as I read. Being. Orn and raised in the church I can find habits and rituals making me comfortable and content with where I was at. The way these verses are jumping off the pages in new ways has dragged my butt outta doing the same old things over and over and being content and comfortable where I was at. I am able to move forward and into a more intimate relationship with Jesus which leads me into deeper relationships with others in my life. When you explained about the QCR in this Bible my blood started flowing faster. I love technology so much! And to have a new translation I’ve never heard of before would be a true blessing. I’m Elizabeth Buhrke and my fav Bible verse these days is in James 1:12
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
~ James 1:12, NLT
Kayleen Hilyer – Hands down it is my NIV/The Message Parallel Bible! While you can’t use The Message for memorization….when you read it after reading verses from the NIV, it often puts into words that make you say “WOW!” or “OUCH!”….a little more strongly than the NIV…..
My favorite Bible is my NIV that I received at the 2004 National Youth Gathering in Orlando Florida. It is the perfect size and weight and is marked up nicely with favorite Bible verses from many college friends. 🙂
Aloha–My name is Francine Kaiona. I’m a real fan of the Life Application Study Bible, Large Print Edition. I like the large print as well as the helpful footnotes, maps and biographies. These features contribute clarity and history in a convenient format.
I LOVE my New Living Translatiin Bible. My husband bought it for me over 15 years ago, and it’s still going strong. It’s the perfect size…fits in my lap when I’m studying in bed or following along at church.
My Bible is a New Living Translation. No one else would see it as a treasure but sometimes I need to just touch it…rub it…hug it…it contains many tear stained pages and laughter caught in the creases and awe drawn out in highlighter colors…have considered getting a new one but would feel naked without holding this one…
Lea Ann Williams-My favorite Bible is still my circa 1970 Living Bible, loose pages and all.
My small NASB bible that fit in my work bag. I took it with me everyday to work and did my Bible studies at lunch. It got me through some tough days.
My name is Chantel Stevenson and my favorite Bible is the NIV Life Application Study Bible that my youth group have to me almost ten years ago! It has notes from at least 8 Beth Moore studies and is in serious need of duct tape!! Thank you for this opportunity! God bless!!!
My Bible is the NIV Women’s Devotional Bible 2 & is the cover is currently held on (not very successfully) by Elmer’s wood glue (it was all I could find).
BTW, today is my birthday =)…just saying’
Love to all & much prayers out for Beth & Amanda. Your ministry makes a profound difference. xoxo
My favorite Bible that I currently own is the NIV teen Bible. Yes, I’ve had it forever and I currently have a teen daughter! No duct tape yet, but soon. And we have a Precious Moments Bible too – too funny! I seem to like a couple things about every Bible, but have not found all the things I like in one! This Bible you are giving away looks really neat!
Molly Mercer–my favorite is probably my MacArthur Study Bible NKJV, although Weirsbe’s Transformation Study Bible in the NLT is a close second!
My favorite bible is the Case for Christ Bible (Lee Strobel). I am an attorney by trade and born skeptic. This bible was the first one I bought after reading Strobel’s Case for Christ and while beginning my journey back to Jesus. It’s premise is evidence and investigation that lead you to the conclusion that Jesus really was here on earth and really did die for us.
My favorite is the NIV version but I have been wanting to get a new version. I am reading the One Year NLT translation this year and I like it too!
Cynda Pierce – My favorite Bible is a NIV study bible I received from my husband in the early 90s.
My favorite Bible is the NIV Life Application Bible. This Bible has long since seen its day. The “leather” is peeling, the spine is falling apart. I have purchased another Life Application Bible but it just isn’t the same…I love the feeling of opening up a Bible, smelling the pages and spending time with God reading it and having Him share things with me.
Kathy Fowler
My favorite Bible is my Ryrie Study Bible (NAS). My husband gave it to me many years ago and it is still my favorite.
Lisa Ragsdale- I use the NIV Study Bible
My favorte study bible is my NIV Life Application. I just got this one a couple years ago to challenge myself to “freshen” up my study and find “new” verses to underline.
Rebecca Gooch
My fav is an ESV given to me by the most generous summer camp director on the planet!
Deborah Flora
I love my NIV Women of Faith Study Bible!
Melissa Atkins – My favorite Bible is my mother’s Bible. It is a KJV and NIV split version Bible. My mom passed away 3.5 years ago very suddenly at the young age of 58. She was my mom, best friend, mentor, advisor, and just a wonderful person. She left me with the treasures of her hand written notes all throughout her Bible. I think of her everytime I open it!
My favorite bible is the NIV! So fun. Can’t wait.
I’ve had my NIV for probably 15 years, but it’s only been picked up, marked up and treasured each day over the last year. I love how Jesus calls us to an adventure with Him…and He patiently awaits our reply. Jer. 29:11-12
Thank your for answering God’s call to adventure in your life because He’s using Living Proof Ministres in powerful ways. God is so good!
I love my ESV study bible.
My favorite Bible is the Life Application Study Bible. It’s the NIV translation but it has all these great footnotes and character profiles. Love it!
My favorite Bible is my NIV Bible given to me on Mother’s Day, 1983.
Deb Bumann-My favorite is the NIV study Bible that my husband bought for me.
Cara Thompson – my favorite right now is my ESV study Bible, although my husband just got a new NLT with a full concordance and Hebrew/Greek dictionary in the back! I think that will be my next splurge for myself! I love studying the Bible!
I love my Ryrie Study Bible. My husband gave it to me for our 1st annversary. We have now been married 30 1/2 yrs. Next to my husband, it’s my best friend!
Mollyanne Gurley
Right now my favorite is a small NASB that I can take with me anywhere.
