Welcome everybody! This is our first gathering for Children of the Day and we are incredibly blessed to have you along! If you’re just now hearing about it, we’d love for you to join us! You’ll find it most helpful to begin by reading this previous post that includes our approach, our summer Bible study schedule and many other specifics: (SSBS 2014 Info post) All you need to participate is the workbook entitled Children of the Day. We only officially “gather” here on the blog every two weeks because summers are so busy. On each of those 5 Tuesdays (starting today), you’ll find a video I’ve prepared for you with instructions for that day. I’ll also remind you to do the next 2 weeks of Bible study before our next gathering. View it personally if you are going solo or, if you’re joining in with others, with your small group. I’ll always put the bare bones of that gathering’s instructions in print in the post as well (as you’ll see below) in case you have any trouble viewing the video. Here’s your first one!
Basic written instructions in case you have trouble with the video:
Register for our summer Bible study by simply leaving a comment to this post per instructions below. Of course, you can take part without registering but you’ll get much more out of it if you fully participate. It not only increases accountability. It stirs up a sense of belonging and fellowship which is so important to us here in this blog community.
Here’s what we’d love for you to supply in your registration comment today: (Try to limit yourself to this information so it will be easy to read and count.)
1. Your NAME.
2. Your CITY.
3. Whether you’re going SOLO or in tandem with a small group. If you’re in a small group, share approximately how many are in your group and where you are planning to meet.
4. Share in a sentence or two why you could really stand to be in Bible study this summer. Maybe it’s that you’ve never been in one before. We would be elated! Or maybe it’s been a long time. If so, this is a great time and place to come back home to the heart of Jesus. Maybe you’re just hoping to get to know Christ a little better. Or, perhaps you’re interested in particular subject matter that appears on the pages of 1st or 2nd Thessalonians. On the other hand, maybe you especially need to be in the Scriptures because you have extenuating circumstances that could really challenge you this summer. What’s motivating you to get into the Scriptures with us this summer? There are no wrong answers!
5. BONUS question (optional): WHAT IS A QUIRK OF YOURS?? Come on, now! Tell us!
If you’re meeting with a small group, share your answers to questions 4 and 5.
I will pitch out a memory verse each week for anybody who wants to participate:
Week 1 Memory Verse:
1 Thessalonians 1:4 The NET Bible: We know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that He has chosen you.
Week 2 Memory Verse:
1 Thessalonians 2:8 The NET Bible: …with such affection for you we were happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
Do WEEKS ONE AND TWO of your homework before our next gathering in two weeks! If you’re watching the OPTIONAL video teaching sessions, you will want to watch Session 1 this week before you start your homework and Session 2 before you start your second week of homework. Here is the link: Children Of The Day Sessions
Don’t feel pressured to go to the added expense. All you need to participate in the summer study is the workbook.
I am so honored to serve you and study with you this summer! Can’t wait to see your names and locations! So much love to you, Sisters! We joyfully embrace each one of you.

3. Going solo, but keeping in touch with an old friend throughout the process, more as an accountability thing. We live miles apart, but will touch base periodically via email, cell phone, etc.
4. I have recently retired, and relocated to a new city. We live in a tiny town, and networking is a little more difficult, so I need to find a mechanism to get myself into deeper bible study.
5. I have many quirks, but trying to always be a perfectionist is my worst one. Things have to be perfect, or in perfect order. I know it drives my family crazy!!!

I am going solo with the Children of the Day study.
I am going through a very difficult time right now having just had to place my mother in a nursing home and the circumstances surrounding that and know that I am in great need of staying in God’s Word to guide and keep me. I also like a bit more structured study to keep me in line!
Cannot think of a quirk, but I am sure that my family could offer up plenty.
Union Grove NC
small group- 2 of us here (myself & friend from church) and my sister & daughter in Georgia who will be doing phone conferences for discussion
Recently the Lord put on my heart an aching for my sister and as I reached out to her & starting praying for specifics during this stormy season in our family , happened to say to her that my daughter & I were going to do a bible study together this summer called Children of the Day –she said I’ve already bought the same study. We decided to study together as a family. God is so good!
Do HAVE to start my day with cup of coffee. Cannot hit the ground running in the morning. I set my alarm 45 minutes before I even have to start getting ready for work. Even though that means getting up at 3:45 am.

4. I love bible study and hate when I don’t have a class to attend!
5. I’m a bit “OCD” — I will straighten pictures on the wall, rugs on the floor, etc. I’m not completely neurotic, but my kids did make fun of me (when they lived at home)!
6. I love your teaching Beth — I’ve been doing & facilitating your studies for years — and keeping you in my prayers! 🙂
I saw you last in Long Beach, CA back in October 2013. Your teaching then about healing really had an profound impact on my life — THANK YOU!
To grow more spiritually and draw closer to God.
Michelle – Colonial Heights, VA – small group of 6 women- I don’t wanna get stale in the summer. I have been in Bible studies but this is my first summer study – yeah God & Me – my quirk is I throw my dirty clothes behind my bedroom door so no one knows unless you close the door 😉

Meeting in a small group of 6 women. I wanted to take a structured bible study this summer. I usually do Precepts and enjoy that. Looking forward to hearing from God.
I live in Colonial Heights, Va right now. I have never done a Beth Moore study and am looking forward to the summer style. I want to be challenged in the word and dig deeper than what I usually do on my own. I want to feel close to God again. I marvel at your (Beth Moore) passion for God, I wonder what that is like on a daily basis. Thank you for all that you do to help us/me grow in God.

4. I have done a couple of bible studies and I love it! They have been absolutely life changing! I just happened to stumble upon a sale at the book store and bought this bible study a few days ago. As it happens, I am just stepping out of a 21-day corporate fast at my local church. Through the fast, I have made many life changing decisions (a decision to quit a relationship, which leads to loss of employment). I always knew right after the fast, the battle begins for me – in finding my purpose and my calling. I want to continue leaning in, going deeper and drawing close to God after the 21 days. When I had this bible study mailed to my door step, I decided to make a commitment to God with continuing to lean in specifically with this bible study (because I thought it looked very pretty haha). Without any expectation, as I was doing Group Session One, I was absolutely amazed at how fitting this bible study is for me for this season! Right the next day, I bumped into this page and realised Siesta Summer Bible Study will be working through Children of the Day as well! Talk about coincidences! God has well and truly orchestrated this season of life for this bible study! I am excited for what is in store!
5. I have very neat and tidy handwriting and I love to do my bible study homework with words strewn all over the page – scriptures and prayers.

Lou Ann Ratliff from Little Rock AR. Going solo and I need this study as encouragement. We are making a last ditch effort to save our business this summer where we have invested all our retirement, but God is good and I need to fully rely on Him again. To grow in the God’s Word and summer is a great time to join with others in studying scripture.
Quirk: love DQ chocolate double dip ices cream.
I will be participating with a small group of ladies from Madison, (Lake County) Ohio – meeting together every other week at the church on Wednesday evenings. And yes! someone will be providing a wonderful large pot of coffee. At this particular time I am in a spiritual funk, kinda like a dried up old well. So I am hoping to once again be filled with Living Water, not just to the top of the well but overflowing onto others! Guess this is all for now. Looking forward to hearing God’s whisper and the Holy Spirit’s nudge of empowerment! Lord Jesus take this tattered mess of a woman and carry out Your plan and purpose –

4. I have done your studies (and other studies before), but I have not done one for probably 7 years or so. I am in a very busy and extremely spiritually dry time of my life and need something consistent to keep me accountable to get back in the Word and renew my fire for the Lord.
5. When I chew gum, I chew it for about 10 seconds and then spit it out because the flavor is “gone.” My husband thinks it’s the weirdest thing ever! He always asks why I even bother with it!

5. I like to spread out when I am working. If there is a clear space, I usually fill it with whatever I am working on. It will cover whatever little or big space I have available. If the space is too small, the floor is next…
