I am so thankful that we have been given the opportunity to leave a comment. A bit before I received the e-mail I was trying to think of a way I could leave a comment without “breaking the rules”. 🙂 It made my day when I read that we could.

I feel so incredibly blessed by this past year of memorizing scripture. I am pretty good about knowing what is “in” the Bible but I have always had a difficult time with references and memorizing exact verses. I loved this challenge because it gave me a more focused way of being able to truly know the scripture. Sometimes, I would try to think of what my next verse would be but God would always lead me there. So, not only has this year been a journey of memorization but a journey of God speaking to me through what He has wanted me to see this year. A journey I might not have sought had it not been for this challenge. Thank you, Mrs. Moore and all the other sisters here that took the challenge and held me accountable even though you didn’t know you were.

I’ve enjoyed this challenge of memorizing Scripture and I’ve enjoyed hunting out verses that are meaningful to me. Not word perfect for sure, but I have hidden his word in my heart.

    Kim Cliatt, Loganville, GA

“to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen!”
    Ephesians 3:21 NIV

I was a little ambitious on Dec. 1 and entered verses 20-21…I am going to split it and count verse 20 as my 23rd and verse 21 as my 24th. I hope that is okay! It is not what I planned originally, but I promised myself not to be legalistic about this! I have loved the accountability! Also, this year has been part of a tough season-the verses I memorized this year tell the story of His faithfulness to me! I treasure my spiral and the Word I have hidden in my heart. Thank you!

Let the good news, the story you have heard from the beginning of your journey, live in and take hold of you. If that happens and you focus on the good news, then you will always remain in a relationship with the Son and the Father. This is what He promised us: eternal life.

This is what the Lord says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
who drew out the chariots and horses,
    the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
    “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!

You can truly face anything if you keep your eyes fixed on Him and hold fast to His promises. Beth Ingram says:

    Beth, West Des Moines, IA

“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such a faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17 NIV 1984

I was a late-comer to SSMT, just joining in August, after attending my first LPL Event. I’m working on James, obviously, and am LOVING memorizing it. The biggest thing, and it’s HUGE, that I’ve learned is the power of having the Word in my head and heart to replace other junk – I already can’t count the times that I’ve awakened in the night and my brain turned on to all kinds of things that would have previously kept me awake and anxious, and I’ve instead began reciting James in my head and it is MIRACULOUS the instant peace it brings. So thankful.

P.S. I homeschool my children, and I decided that my 11 year old son and I should memorize James together this year. He’s doing great.

  36. 886

    Pam in San Diego says:

“May my meditation be pleasing to him as I rejoice in the Lord.” Psalm 104:34 NIV
Pam in San Diego…..Each verse had a special significance to remind me of God’s presence, power and protection during a very challenging year. I have it etched in my brain why each verse has such a powerful message to remind me of God’s faithfulness as I trusted Him on a path that brought challenges and twists that I never imagined. Through it all, God was in it.

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy– to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority..” Jude 1:24-25a NIV

To God be the glory! I have struggled with memory the last few years. God has shown me through this (I did this 2011…finished but didn’t log the last few) that I can put what’s important to memory! It’s been especially encouraging this year because I’ve had to start putting five minute lessons to memory and God has so graciously enable me! Thank you for the opportunity and blessing of this!

But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.
    John 16:13a NIV

Memorizing scripture is a joy for me. Being able to quote from God’s word has made my testimony more powerful because I am able to back up my opinions with “proof.”
For myself, I have been on quite a journey this year and have been set free through spiritual and emotional healing, which has been cemented by meditating on God’s word which is Truth.
    Bless you all.

Thank you and God bless you for a wonderful year! Like a superhero’s arsenal of powers, so the Siesta 2013 Scripture Memory Team has been for me this year. We embarked on our first year of homeschooling our six children and being “refueled” every 15 days was exactly what my spirit needed to overcome, well, everything! Rejoice in the work God did through you, it is beautiful! Merry Christmas & praise Jesus for 2014 SSMT!!
