Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all yours ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
Words cannot describe how participating in Siesta Sisters has made me grow closer to the Lord. It was not just the memorization of scriptures that drew me nearer to the Lord. It was the friendship I developed with my partner Rose a dear, sweet Christian friend. We have met the past two months during my lunch to study our verses. She is an inspiration to me by her actions and ways she serves God. I have been amazed at how many times one of our verses are read during sermons at church and I slightly lift my foot, and bump her (I sit behind Rose)making sure she recognized our memory verse in the sermon. One Sunday I think it was a record at 4 bumps! Of course, I am also amazed how this has made me focus more on God’s word and having scripture roll from my tongue while it is being read in a lesson. This will be my first Siesta Sister event and I am blessed that Joann and Frances shared the information for me to join. Looking forward to the meeting and my spiral book has lost its cover, has tape and looks very worn compared to the picture!

This year has been a year of growing closer to the Lord and learning more about His perfect timing and plan for my life. Hiding His scripture in my heart has been JUST what I needed…this year, and always. 🙂

I have posted my verses every month but do not have all 24 memorized. My OCD self would normally be beating myself up…but…I chose to focus on the fact that God does not condemn me and rest in the power of His Word. There are new mercies each day and I continue to work on my verses :-).
This time I have a few more verses I have to include. Thank you Beth for the challenge. I was so blessed along the way.
“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.” Colossians 3:15-17 (The Message)

This journey has meant so much as God led me to different verses that I needed. I also really enjoyed the fellowship of testing my “scripture sisters” twice a month. And I can’t wait to come to the Party and meet Beth Moore!! I’ll be practicing my verses until then! God bless us all!

I have participated in each SSMT, and each year has it’s own “personality.” This year, I felt like just about each memory verse was speaking to the season or situation I was experiencing at the time. Each verse was special to me. I’m not saying I didn’t pick a couple “easier” verses to help out in busy times. And, there were times that I didn’t quite memorize the verse as much as meditate on it, but I feel like God used each verse at just the right time. So for the final SSMT of 2013, I am…

The times I practiced & recited my Scriptures the most were on the treadmill in the morning & in my bed at night. I work in a church office & we get calls & visitors often from hurting people, people who ask for prayer and calls from those who simply want someone who will listen. I feel like I’ve been able to encourage many this past year by reciting Scripture off the top of my head (many I could remember because of this challenge). I can’t wait to see so many of you next month! I have met wonderful friends through Beth Moore ~ through the blog & through Beth’s Bible studies that we have had at my church. I deeply appreciate Beth, the LPM staff & volunteers for everything.
Love to you all & Merry Christmas!

So thankful for the accountability of this group!

Proverbs 2:4 NJKV
I always wanted a scripture that in some way spoke to me over these last 12 months. As I close with this one, I was brought to it after reading Phil.2:12 about working out our own salvation. In the NKJV study bible the words “work out” the Greek term speaks of the present deliverance of the Philippians. The word translated “work out” is used by the first-century author Strabo to speak of digging silver out of silver mines. Thus salvation can be compared to a huge gift that needs to be unwrapped for one’s thorough enjoyment. God has given me a hunger for His Word and the need to know Him more! I truly feel like every time I study His Word and something is revealed to me, I have hammered through a rock and received a piece of silver. I thank Him for His Love, Mercy and Grace! He is an Awesome God!

Hallelujah! I can’t believe I actually completed something:) When I started the SSMT in January it was for the sole purpose of visiting Houston in January 2014. Well, at least that’s what I told myself. God had a different plan. He knew this would be the most difficult season of my 50 years. He knew I would need His word to get me through. He knew I would be too hardheaded to memorize verses without a motive. Yes, He knows me SO well! As always, He was and will always be…right! It was a difficult year, but only through the love of Jesus Christ can I claim a victory and end 2013 on a positive note.
Thank you LPM for providing a place for women to draw nearer to Christ ~ a forum for us to share and grow in good times and bad. May God continue to bless each of you. Merry Christmas!

As I look over my memory verses for the year, I am flooded with memories and stories. The Word is so alive and active! All year long the memory verse I was working on at the time would come up in conversation with someone who really needed to hear it at the time. One of those times it was me!!! I have been the mother of the bride twice, but this time I was the mother of the groom and kept quiet about truly everything, except for one thing I couldn’t get over. You see, I had done weddings before. 🙂 Well, my verse that week was Heb. 12:14 “Pursue peace with everyone and holiness, for without it no one will see the Lord.” Whew, God knocked me over the head.I want people to see the Lord!! I immediately called and gave up all my rights and my want of the way it should be and apologized sincerely. From that point on, there was so much peace and so much seeing the Lord! I LOVE God’s Word and Jesus!! And I love that He won’t let me stay in my sin. I have enjoyed this year with all you precious saints!!!!
