LET YOURSELF FEEL THE HOLY NOD OF GOD THIS WONDERFUL DAY, MY BELOVED SISTER.
YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING THAT HE ESTEEMS AS TREASURE BEYOND PRICE.
HE HAS LISTENED INTENTLY EVERY TIME YOU’VE SAID A VERSE OUT LOUD AND RECOGNIZED THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE WITH DEEP AFFECTION.
HE HAS BEHELD YOUR RADIANT FACE, DAUGHTER OF GOD, AND FOUND YOU SO LOVELY.
LET YOURSELF HEAR HIS COMMENDATION THIS DAY.
LET HIM SAY “WELL DONE” TO YOU.
Oh, Jesus was so worthy of all this work, wasn’t He, Sister???

Thank you so much for all your encouragement through out this year. Every morning I get to start my day memorizing Gods Word. First, I start my day in the right direction, sometimes it ends up nowhere near how it began, but the next day I can start over. These verses help me through out my day with my relationships with others. Finally and most importantly it protects and fills my heart with His words!!!It reminds me to talk and walk with integrity. So here is my last verse of the year.
But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
My foot stands on level ground; in the great
assembly I will bless the Lord.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:21-24, NIV1984
This year has put my family through the wringer. In my immediate family, we have had 2 major surgeries (3 after tomorrow), 2 family units in desperate financial straits, 4 minor surgeries, major home repairs, unstable chronic illnesses of mind and body, and my beloved’s conversion to a faith I cannot share.
Working at learning Ephesians 3:1-5:24 by heart gives my mind a place of refuge. It gives me God-sized, hopeful prayers to pray when there are just no words. It reminds me who I am in Christ and who He is for me. It shows me how to behave when my heart is breaking.
For the last several years, I’ve prayed for fresh hunger for God’s Word and deep delight in it and Him. Now I think the intensity of recent years may be the answer to that prayer. When the rug is pulled out from under us, we fall face down on our Rock. His Word is our lifeline. That’s a terribly uncomfortable place to be, but in light of eternity, it is a most blessed place to be.
Thank you, Beth and LPM, for this community to encourage me to persevere in learning the Scriptures. This comment is probably longer than you intended, but I pray our Lord will bless it to someone else.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, will be able to separate us from
the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Come Lord Jesus! Merry Christmas to all siestas. It is
encouraging to know that so many women are memorizing
the Word and I am one of this group. Praise be to God!

This year my intent was to memorize some familiar verses and know where to find them. They came up many times! I am happy to have them at the ready. 🙂

With the loss of my best friend’s 16 year old, handicapped daughter, sudden death of a friend and the baby she was 8 months pregnant with, emergency surgery, and a miscarriage, these verses have been my joy in the time of trouble and the only peace I could find. Thanks be to God.

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! (Isaiah 30:18 AMP)
In January of this year Beth, you asked us to study this verse in 3 versions. That assignment had a major impact on how I look at my relationship with God. The amplified version of the verse especially moved me and has become a theme for me throughout the year. After spending the year memorizing James, this is the perfect way to finish my year of memorization. I have been earnestly waiting, looking, longing for and expecting Him to fill my life, and He has!!!!! Praise God!!! Thank you for allowing Him to use you as a catalyst and encouragement to women all over the world to press in to God. You are a blessing to me Beth. Thank you. ~Keri Lee

Alison from Southport, NC. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. Memorizing so much scripture this year was so much harder than I expected, but also, so much more rewarding then I could have imagined. Depression, anger, bad thoughts, jealousy – all these things were lessened in my brain because of the word of God floating around in my head.
Thank you Beth Moore and LPM for challenging me and encouraging me. The lessons I learned this year will be with me forever.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Beth, thank you for being such an inspiration and encourager! It was your teaching and your love of God’s Word that prompted me to begin Scripture memory on my own in 2005. This is my 2nd time to participate in SSMT, the first time was 2011. I’m excited we all made it to the finish line, but sad to see the year come to an end. I look forward to the 1st and 15th of every month, to read your message to the Team. Already I’m looking forward to 2015!
The most recent passage I memorized is 1 Peter 5:5b-11. I am excited and grateful that the Holy Spirit prompted me to turn vs. 7 – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” – into a prayer to pray whenever I find myself fretting and worrying over current issues I cannot control. “Father God, I cast ALL my anxieties about (this situation) ON YOU, BECAUSE YOU CARE FOR ME!” Then I name aloud each of the persons or circumstances that are making me anxious, giving them one by one to the Lord. I’ve been doing this numerous times a day the past couple of weeks. The result is that I talk less and listen more as I trust that God is working all things together for good and for His glory, and I have a new awareness that God really does love me and He cares about the things that worry me. Isn’t that so incredibly loving – that He doesn’t want ME to worry, but He wants to do the worrying FOR me?! Incomprehensible.
Thank you for that word, Terry.

This post fills me with such bittersweetness — mingled joy and pain. In all the things that have crossed my path, I have seen the mighty hand of my Jesus carry me, sustain me, give me my next breath. I am breathing in His grace and breathing out His praise, which is why I share my last verse this year with loudest joy despite the pain:

This year, God was steadfast as I prayed verses reminding myself of his promises. He never forsook me, which was another verse I prayed and memorized. Then he rejoiced with me as a prayed verses of thanksgiving and abundant life has he blessed me with the job I had been longing for for some time. God has been great in 2013, and this journey has been the primary source of those blessings!

This fall has been too busy with life circumstances, and I dropped out of posting new scriptures. I did, however, review my ones from earlier in the year and was encouraged by every bimonthly reminder to memorize God’s word. I memorized a verse for December 1, but didn’t manage to get it posted here (which is not the important part of the process! 😉 ) Your verse from last time, Beth, has been in my heart and mind so I’ve chosen it for these last two weeks of the year because I need its truth. I love the SSMT and will be participating next time, for sure. hugs and love to all of you!

This verse was on my mind as we went to church this morning. God has truly blessed my family this year. I pray His blessing and leadership for our country.
I so appreciate this group and my accountability to the group for posting my verses. My memory isn’t what it used to be, but I’ll continue working on my posted verses. I so wish I could attend the celebration in January, but it’s not to be this time.

2 Cor 4:6 For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness”, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
This year has seemed to be a long hard year in our family as well. Praise God, my dear 24 year old niece is in remission from Ovarian Cancer. My health continues to fluctuate and we have changed Church’s, BUT GOD remains FAITHFULL to us.
Thank You Beth for this blog and the accountability it gives us to keep on with our Memory Verses.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
II Corinthians 5:21 NIV 2011
I’ve drawn closer to God in the last couple of years than at any other time in my life. I’ve also never been attacked by the enemy with such ferocity as I have in the last couple of years. Let’s face it, I didn’t put up much of a fight before. One of my memory verses, II Corinthians 10:5, has helped me to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” The power of Christ in me and God’s word hidden in my heart have enabled me to do battle with Satan. Thank you, Beth and all at LPM, for the love you lavish on us. You are reaping what you’re sowing! This Siesta Scripture Memory Team has motivated me to keep memorizing! I’ll be memorizing through 2014 and eagerly looking forward to fellowship with you all again in 2015! Hallelujah! Praise God!

Beth, you have been such a blessing to me and so many. I was raised Roman Catholic and didn’t have a real knowledge for God’s Word. Through your Bible studies and this scripture memorization, I have an insatiable hunger for His Word and for Him. This has been a hard year for me, and knowing the scriptures and being able to bring them to mind, has been “priceless”. Thank you. =)
