LET YOURSELF FEEL THE HOLY NOD OF GOD THIS WONDERFUL DAY, MY BELOVED SISTER.
YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING THAT HE ESTEEMS AS TREASURE BEYOND PRICE.
HE HAS LISTENED INTENTLY EVERY TIME YOU’VE SAID A VERSE OUT LOUD AND RECOGNIZED THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE WITH DEEP AFFECTION.
HE HAS BEHELD YOUR RADIANT FACE, DAUGHTER OF GOD, AND FOUND YOU SO LOVELY.
LET YOURSELF HEAR HIS COMMENDATION THIS DAY.
LET HIM SAY “WELL DONE” TO YOU.
Oh, Jesus was so worthy of all this work, wasn’t He, Sister???

Thank you Beth for encouraging us in our walk of faith. I loved that the my last verse ended with an exclamation point. I am going to be memorizing scripture in 2014 with my dear friend, Jill. I’m just going to flip my SSMT spiral over and then I will have 48 verses all in one spiral. Merry Christmas!

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
Deuteronomy 4:9 NIV
The discipline of choosing a verse that is just what I need for where I am when it is time to post, and then letting those words sink deep into my heart has been life changing. As I get ready to celebrate our 50th anniversary 2 days after Christmas with 6 married children and 26 grandchildren (40 of us), I am thinking about what God’s plan for me is as I try to “finish strong” and what I want to say to my children and grandchildren at our celebration. This is the verse that I want to cherish and live out. God is sooooo good.

I am so thankful God does not forsake me. He has truely been by my side this year. Thru thick and thin. God and I were definitely on a rollercoaster ride. It was just as thrilling in the valleys as on the mountains. Of course the mountain tops had a better view. I love Him dearly.

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. Luke 1:46-47 ESV
It has been interesting to compare the Scriptures that came to me two years ago, mainly about the nature of God, and the ones that have come to me this year – promises of comfort and peace. It was an extremely difficult year, and I identified completely with your podcast on Twelfth Month earlier this month, Beth. God is faithful, and looking back over the year, I marvel at the blessings and miracles that God provided right alongside the trying times. I marvel at the way He brought me exactly the passage every two weeks that needed to sink into my heart so that it was there for me to stand on when I needed it. Merry Christmas and God bless you all!

As I look over the verses from this past year, it’s like a journal. I see all the struggles and hopes that I have had through the verses I selected. It’s been a wonderful experience and I’m really looking forward to next month’s gathering!! Thank you at LPM for all that you do!!
“I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2/NIV
I am overflowing with gratefulness for you challenging me and encouraging me to begin to commit Scripture to memory. God has used the verses I have learned to challenge, strengthen, encourage, love and uphold me over the last year. I want to learn more! Thank you for always pointing all of us to Him. My focus has been turned from thinking on futile things to thinking on his truth so many times. He is so good! May your Christmas be filled with joy and a strong sense of His love and presence.

Hebrews 12:11 (NIV) – No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
This year has been about discipline for me. God has been prodding my heart in so many areas of my life that need more discipline. As a “free spirit” type person, discipline & structure are hard for me, but I know they’re so necessary for my health and well-being.
I had another verse picked out for #24, but never got around to posting it. Then this morning, I woke up with this verse repeating itself in my mind, even though I’ve never memorized it! A small hint, maybe?? 😉 So I will shift gears and end my journey with this one. Thank you for this opportunity! It’s always a huge blessing and challenge.

Isaiah 9:6 ESV
“For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
I have so enjoyed memorizing these verses this year. There are several that I keep coming back to daily and often times multiple times in that day to keep my mind focused on God and trusting in Him and His word, instead of myself. It has been such an encouragement to have God’s word imprinted in my mind at all times, so even when I don’t have a Bible nearby, I can still turn to God’s word. I’m so glad that I participated in this, this year!
Sue, Standish, ME
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end.

Thank you so much for this, Beth. You are such a blessing and going through these memory verses was a valuable experience for me this year. It helped me through some dark times and reinforced my joy when the clouds moved out of my life. May God bless you and your family this Christmas and always. 🙂

“He who calls you is faithful. He will surely do it.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:24 ESV
As I read through my verses, they are signposts to me of the journey I have walked with Jesus these months. It has been amazing to watch Him speak to me in exactly the context I needed (or others in my life needed!). I have kept a journal of my verses and what the Lord has been speaking to me about them. Sometimes He had me wait, and simply record a verse for later… and sure enough, a month or so later, that verse was exactly the one that was needed in a particular situation or circumstance and became my verse for memory at that time. God is good. He is personal. He loves to speak to us. I love Him for that and so much more! Thank you Beth and your entire team for this wonderful experience!

My two youngest children (ages 4 and 5) started a new preschool this fall. Part of their curriculum is Scripture memory. The 5 year old has really taken to it! Since August he’s already memorized 12! Hearing the Word come out of his sweet little lisping mouth is sometimes more than I can bear! Its THE most precious thing! Well, I hadn’t quite decided what Scripture I was going to do this time, so I asked him which was his favorite he has memorized so far. He stopped and thought for a second and replied:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1 (ESV)
I had to pick it. It reminds me how much it must please our Heavenly Father to hear us all recite his Truth, because, oh how I am delighted when I hear my sweet son say these words. This year of hiding His Word in our hearts has been such a blessing to us!

The Lord is the everlasting God
The Creator of all the Earth
He never grows weak or weary
No one can measure the depths of His understanding
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless
Even youths become weak and tired
And young men will fall in exhaustion
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength
They’ll soar high on wings like eagles
They’ll run and not grow weary
They’ll walk and not faint
Isaiah 40:28-31
I honestly didn’t think I could actually fulfill this commitment….boy was I wrong about myself. The Lord has strengthened my mind and allowed me to recall these scriptures in a way I could never have imagined! Thankful for His provision and a friend who encouraged me to go on this journey with her 🙂
