Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

2. Married my husband the same weekend I graduated high school.
3. I believe there's more than one way to do any/everything.
4. Love coffee in the morning.
5. I have a 13 month old grand-daughter, who is everything I never knew I always wanted.
6. Hate my job. Deliver me Lord.
7. Belive I'll be wearing purple with a red hat soon.
8. Wear basically 3 pairs of shoes: work, church, play (tennis shoes).
9. Do care about my hair. Cut and color every 5 weeks.
10. Still memorizing scripture on the 1st and the 15th. Praise his HOLY Name.

2. I was voted Homecoming Queen, Most Beautiful, and Class Favorite with the actor Jaime Foxx my senior year of high school!

6.I am having a hard time sneaking "bad" foods with my girls around … they hear everything I do now.
7.I have just started using coupons again and am amazed at all the stuff I'm getting for free.

9.I like a little privacy, especially reading my good friends' emails. Not hiding anything, just like privacy.
10.I love hot baths … God talks to me a lot when I'm soaking!
1. I love getting pierced and tattooed. Once I got an office job though, I had to learn to curb that. π
2. I LOVE makeup and used to HATE it.
3. I love anything Asian. I think I was born on the wrong continent.
4. I'm always writing a blog post, but often fail to write any of it down, so it gets lost in my head.
5. I get really excited about shopping for office and school supplies.
6. I want to be in school for the rest of my life; I'm addicted to learning.
7. Anything vanilla-scented gives me a headache.
8. I grew up in the desert and didn't see lightning bugs till I moved to TN a few years ago. I get so excited to see them that I must act like a 3-year-old.
9. I cannot stand long toenails. French manicures on toenails freak me out.
10. I really like pushing buttons. Like literal buttons. I am kind of afraid to get a touch-screen phone because of the lack of buttons.

What is Black music?
I pray it is Hip/Hop type of music cause I LOVE to listen to it (ONLY the rated G versions) while I am on the treadmill but have NEVER told anyone that!!!
1. I stay up ridiculously late and somehow manage to function on four to six hours of sleep most nights.
2. I'm a stickler for correct spelling and grammar, to the point of obsession.
3. I'm 19 and have never had a boyfriend. (But I am okay with that!)
4. I can read an average of about 160 pages an hour.
5. I love to read, and do it whenever I can. That's probably why I can read so fast!
6. I consider my brother one of my best friends.
7. My full name is 24 letters long, and because my last name is pretty short, I anticipate that whenever I get married, it will only get longer.
8. I can't focus without background music, except on very rare occasions.
9. I've studied four different languages in the past six years. (Spanish, French, Chinese, & Latin.)
10. I ramble endlessly and overanalyze everything.

2. I ease drop on others conversations when I'm out eating even if I'm out with a big group of people. I love hearing what people are talking about, most of the time.
3. I like to try to hop and click my heels together while I'm at work. Most of the time people DO NOT know what I'm doing ;O)
4. I don't like to put lotion on. When I was pregnant with my daughter I would put oil in my bath water and on my skin but not lotion. lotion seems so cold.
5. I love smelling the air (most of the time) because in Kansas you can almost tell the days forcast by the smell of the air.
6. I wish that they made princess outfits in mommy sizes like they do for toddlers. I love joining in the dress up fun!
7. I use to love to read but now that I'm a mommy with little time for reading I'm lazy and just love a good chick flick!!
8. I love mornings and do not like to share that special time with any other blessed soul!
9. I hurt my knee walking on a tread mill. What the heck?
10. I love to be silly and sing songs even made up songs just like in a musical. Only I'm not sure other people really get such a kick out of it, but my daughter does!
1. I have a problem with how eggs are arranged in my egg carton. Drives me crazy when hubs gets one out of order.
2. I'm a little OCD – explains the eggs!
3. I have been close to dying or being killed 7 times – the Lord needs me to hang around for some reason!
4. I am addicted to my iPhone.
5. Hubs thinks I spend too much time with Beth Moore (books, video's, bible study etc.) and I tell him she is my spiritual mentor!!
6. I can not sleep unless I make my bed first. I don't make it in the morning but right before I go to bed. haha
7. I have no fashion sense at all. Can't do makeup and my hair never looks right to me.
8. My father is full blooded Mexican and I grew up eating Mexican every night. I have to beg my hubs to eat it. After being married a year he told me "no more Mexican" – I had to learn how to "cook white" as he put it.
9. I love to sing but I can not carry a tune. No one in my family can stand it and even my dog howls when I sing.
10. Lists – I am a list person for everything under the sun!!!

I prefer vanilla ice cream over chocolate but I have to have something chocolate to go with the vanilla.
I have to ask the difference between blended coffee and an iced caramel macchiato (sp?) EVERY TIME!
I thought Johnny Depp was gorgeous back on β21 Jump Streetβ and was delighted to see his posters go up all over my daughters room when he became Capt. Jack Sparrow. It was like seeing an old friend.

2. I didn't know I had naturally curly hair til I went to bed with wet hair one night when I was 35. I'd always either had perms or blow-dried it straight. Needless to say, I was S H O C K E D.
3. We got married on my grandparent's anniversary because I wanted to model my marriage after theirs.
4. I can shoot a bullseye with any gun you put in my hand.
5. I like to write with a pencil. It just feels good going across the paper.
6. I slept with my Bible for 3 years after watching The Amityville Horror at a friend's house in 4th grade. I've never watched a scary movie since.
7. I can't STAND to touch raw chicken!! I use salad tongs to get it out of the wrapper and into the pot.
8. And yet, I dissected cadavers in P.T. school. Didn't bother me a bit. (ps… there's no way to NOT believe in God after seeing inside the human body. This did not happen from a big bang, people.)
9. My favorite smells are bonfire smoke, diesel exhaust, leather, fresh cut grass, and that smell when you first walk into Lowe's or Home Depot.
10. My firstborn was a tubal pregnancy that God moved into my womb right before surgery. He'll be 13 in a couple weeks!

6 β I broke my neck in Nov 2008 in a blow up obstacle course at my churchβs health & safety day eventβ¦had to have surgery to insert rods & pinsβ¦.totally Godβs protection!!

1. I was thirteen when I first saw cows actually walking…my overexcied reaction earned me the nickname "Mikki Moo".

5.When I got my drivers liscense the tester (an old dear man) made me promise to learn how to drive!! Ha!
6.I said "Yes" to marrying my husband after only knowing him for five days!! Married 15 years in August…thank you very much :)God's grace π
7.We adopted two boys from Russia in 2004 and found out we were expecting a baby six months later!
8.I died my hair red in highschool, then back to brown, which was darker and it turned into a nice black.

1. I am a clean freak. I love having things nice and orderly.

1. I am a list person! and if the list has a few crossed off, it looks too messy to me… so I make a new list. I probably waste too much paper.
2. I like toilet paper to fall "over" the roll… it's easier to tear. My husband does not get this.
3. I love all and any kinds of music except the screaming heavy metal kind.
4. I love sleep… maybe too much
5. I've never been able to braid my own hair… if I ever have girls I hope I'll learn.
6. My socks almost n ever match what color outfit I'm wearing. For example… today, I'm wearing lime green and white striped shirt (small stripes) and my socks are red and pink… yikes!

2. I used to read late at night in my large walk-in closet since the bedside light bothered my husband. Now I wear a headlamp (with a red light to tone down the brightness) so I can still read late into the night while laying next to my husband.

4. I colored my 40+ year-old hair for the first time this past December
5. As soon as the weather warms in Michigan, the pantyhose are put away til next fall/winter
