Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

1. Makeup and hair are just not that important to me.
2. I was super-blond until I was in junior high. Now I am mousy brown. I'm saving up for a highlight job!
3. My 12-year-old son often worries that I will die before he grows up. I was 38 when he was born.
4. I grew up in Colorado and I love winter – especially snow!
5. I often feel inadequate as a wife and mother.
6. My desk is a disaster, but I know what's in every pile and can find anything in a heartbeat!
7. I love to read.

4. This stresses me out (as does thinking about anything after having children).

4. Beth Moore is my hero and was key in bringing me to LOVE "Bible Study" .
5. I've done every single Beth Moore study she's written (some twice, the Tabernacle three times!)
6. I grind my own wheat and to be quite honest, it somewhat makes me "prideful". I guess because it's the only "healthy" thing I do. Good grief, surely that ought to counter all the doughnuts and burgers I eat and somewhat balance out my nutrition.
7. I play Farcle on FaceBook and don't know why.
8. I LOVE to knit. Love, love, love to knit. But I'm a yarn snob and just won't waste all that work on anything but good quality yarn.
9. I'm a huge rule-follower. I'm totally out of "stuff" to put down, but I cannot leave a number blank. I have to put something — same way with the Bible studies…. can't leave any blanks!

3. I have a hard time saying no even when I know I am going to be extremely inconvenienced.
4. Even though I cringe at the thought of how much fat is in them, I cannot resist potato chips and dip if they are in my house.
5. Even though I know I look my better when I do, I rarely wear makeup and do my hair.
6. I cannot sleep unless I have my shower before I go to bed.
7. I shower and head down to bed to watch TV and go on the computer at around 7pm every night.
8. I have zero skill in fashion. And I am embarrassed when I go shopping and show an outfit to a friend that I think is fabulous and they turn their noses up at it.
9. I have never heard my parents tell me they loved me till I was an adult. I make up for it with my kids.
10. I am a shopaholic.
1) I'm obsessed with dogs…can spot a puppy across a parking lot and say hi much to my family's chagrin!

4) I love having fake nails but am a total klutz when I have them on
5) I collect "Pam's" as friends…currently I have three close friends all named Pam!

8)I actually have a set of "leathers" for when my hubby takes me on a motorcycle ride.

Well, I guess I'm the only one this evening, but here goes~
1. I don't like my food to touch on the plate unless it's supposed to touch (casseroles, etc).
2. I love the Blue Ridge Mountains ~ camping there is one of my favorite childhood memories!
3, Speaking of camping… You NEVER went camping with my family, because you always got rained out and had to leave early.
4. I LOVED high school because my locker was in between one boy who was 6'5"tall and another who was 6'7" tall. (I'm 5'10")
5. I have to have quiet at some point during the day or I can't survive.
6. I LOVE RAIN! There's something inside me that unfurls when it rains.
7. I want nothing (well, not much) more than to have all my fourth graders love to read.

1. I love red. Red everything – lipstick, nail polish, wall paint, purses, ANYthing red!

3. I love to cook. Even shopping in The Fresh Market listening to their soft classical music relaxes me.
4. I love to take my time getting ready each day. (My husband can't stand this. It's like an event. I like to drink my coffee and enjoy putting on makeup!)
5. I love to read – especially fiction.
6. I hate scary movies.
7. I hate it when I am talking to someone and they don't look me in the eye – like they're looking for someone else to talk to.
8. I would much rather text or e-mail than talk on the phone!
9. I can't stand it when people (especially adults) chew food with their mouths open. Get some manners! Ha! I really pound this point with my teen and tween-agers!

8. i was born on Dec. 23rd and came home from the hospital on Christmas Day in a Christmas stocking and was on the front page of the small town newspaper.
