Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

1. I always chose the item off the shelf I want from the very back – like the one no one else has touched.
2. I am in love with coffee- I try to put it off as my hubby's obsession but we both know it is mine.
3. I love getting on the floor or ground to get dirty and play with my little boys!
4. I like going to sleep with the diswasher on.
5. Sometimes I try on my wedding dress just because! (once our oldest caught me, he was 4, and he and i danced 🙂
6. I use Germ-X a lot- OCD a lot!
7. When I feel grumpy I put on a little lipstick – give it a try it will change your outlook!
8. I love to watch people, all shapes and sizes and colors.
9. I love that my husband knows when I have free alone time he can call and I will be at the used christian book store.
10. I whistle when I am happy. Just call me one of Cinderella's little fellas.
1. I like to wake up 10 minutes before I have to leave the house, I dash around like a mad woman just for that extra 20 min of sleep.
2. Due to #1 I hardly ever wear make-up, and I don’t own a single article of clothing that has to be ironed
3. I still eat like a 5 year old, I live on PB&J, mac n’ cheese, bologna sandwiches, chicken nuggets, lunchables, and bagel bites.
4. I have never drank more than a sip coke, or any carbonated beverage for that matter.
5. Clutter follows me, you give me a flat surface and I will have it covered with papers, scrapbooking junk, books, etc in less than 12 hours.
6. I am fiercely loyal, nothing upsets me more than someone hurting or taking advantage of one of my best friends (I recently had to leave work in tears because I was so upset that someone had taken advantage of my BFF)
7. I love coffee!!! The best present my hubby ever got me was my gourmet coffee maker that makes a cup of any variety in 30sec. (also very helpful due to #1)
8. I have seen every episode of StarTrek TNG ever made.
9. I love to read, I am currently reading about 4 different books.
10. I love the ocean, until my parents moved me to the South (yes I am a “reformed” Yankee) when I was sixteen I have never lived more than and hour from the ocean, I miss it terribly

5. I get obsesive about what I write in emails and facebook. I go back and reread everything (apparently I am not the only one)

Oh dear. How do I narrow it down to only 10 quirks???
1. I am a bibliophile. I love books. I love reading. I love discussing books. The librarians know me by sight (if not by name) and I work in a bookstore.
2. Although we had settled on my son's name when I was only 5 months pregnant with him, I didn't call him by his name for almost the first year of his life. It didn't seem to fit him yet, so I called him Bunky.
3. I will only drink my coffee iced, not hot.
4.My best friend of 15 years lives over 900 miles away, but we talk every day.
5. I once ate lunch with Brennan Manning. We talked about pizza, not theology.
6. I love all things pink.
7. I lived in other people's basements for 5 years.
8. I try to eat "clean," all-natural and/or organic.
9. I am addicted to clipping coupons and I brag about how much money I save or inexpensively I get things. If someone compliments me on something, I usually respond with, "Thanks! It was $6.98!"

5. I have to "sneak read". Please don't tell my man or I would not be in submission. jk. I love to read.
6. I almost texted BOOMM in Sunday school this week. Lord forgive me.
7. I drink grape propel all day long. It is an addiction.
8. I sleep with a heating pad every stinking night and sometimes my bible if I just need to have the word near me.

10. I bought the cutest luggage the other day "for my living proof events". Sad but true, the only traveling I really get to do is going to these things and my big suitcase tore up!

1. I am a PK (Pastor's kid), married a pastor and have 11 pastors in my family. (My son is studying to be a worship pastor which will make #12) I am blessed!

7. I got to meet Beth Moore on Feb. 11th of this year at a book signing in TN and I was absolutely giddy!!
8. I have always had a literal "prayer closet" every since I was a little girl. It all started with moving my Holly Hobbie desk into my closet! (some great memories with my Savior!)
9. I love surprises & my son has been the best surprise that I have ever received! 🙂
10. I turned 40 this year and realized that it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be! 🙂

6. i have bleached aforementioned hair since i was 12. i am 50. you can only imagine the brain damage that i have probably suffered!
7.i married my polar opposite. we dated 1 month before he proposed. (just celebrated 25 years!)
8. i have 2 great kids. they still keep me on my toes and on my knees.
9.i can not sit still for an entire movie.
10.i had the most wonderful parents who started telling me about Jesus while i was still in the womb!

2.I had 2 grandmothers and one step-grandmother.Their names were Selma,Flossie, and Fannie.
3.I do not enjoy shopping for clothes and I have prayed for the Lord to give me that desire.

6. I hate coffee…but I have a coffee scented candle, because I love the smell.
7. I love to run. I don't break any records- won't probably ever qualify to run the Boston Marathon- but I absolutely love it.
8. This is my quirkiest: only my husband knows this…but as people talk to me, I often write the words they're saying with my finger on my leg, or table, or whatever surface I have available. He makes fun of me when he sees me do it and says…."I'll never tell…" From that movie where the crazy girl keeps saying it and writing in the air. – I love him anyway.
9. I want a black, corvette convertible some day.
10. I've got a mansion…..just over the hilltop….*smile*
