Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

2. I organize my groceries at the check out counter and bag them in groups: freezer, pantry, refrigerator, misc. items
3. I went to the New Kids On The Block Reunion Tour…twice!
4. I love babysitting!

7. I almost got married on accident while in Cambodia
8. At age 8 I got the LAX airport shut down because they thought I had a bomb in my bag
9. I hate top sheets

1. I like pepsi, but with crushed ice only.
2. I like to fish but I'm afraid of them.
3. I am drawn to buy white shirts. I don't know why.
4. I've always like to type and so I type up any kind of notes I have. Even grocery lists. In the order that I will go through the store.
5. French fries and popcorn are addictive to me.
6. Going into a birding store for me is like a kid in a candy shop.
7. I'll eat chocolate cake any time of the day.
8. I drink a 16 oz hot chocolate every morning that I can.
9. I can wiggle my ears too.
10. My husband was my patrol boy in third grade.

1. We have a couch that has lots of pillows and cushions and I have to make sure they are tucked in before I can sit on the couch.

Finishing – did not get picked for jury duty!
7. I love waterfalls and cool, clear streams —– I could live in a tent by a waterfall and never leave (and I do not like camping!!!)
8. I love being a grandma and cherish every moment and event in the grands lives —- I do not remember much from when my babies were small (they grow fast don't they!) – so the time with the grands is SOOOO special.
9. I have a friend that was married on the same day/year as my husband and I – her husband divorced her – BUT, we still celebrate with her every year at a nice restaurant – would not have it any other way – LOVE YOU BEV! Fleming's – May 29th it is!
10. I do not color my hair and never will – it is what it is! I earned every gray hair!
1. I met and started dating my husband in my 40's – hang in there singles.
2. My ankles crack when I walk and I cannot sneak up on anyone.
3. I love dark chocolate with something added, especially See's Candies.
4. Peas still make me gag.
5. My husband and I hide from each other when the other one is coming home – he's better at it than I am.
6. I am okay with bugs that walk, but I do not like bugs that fly(especially at my face), except for butterfiles and ladybugs, which I adore.
7. I am usually very quiet, except when you are supposed to be quiet and then suddenly I am too loud.
8. My toes get cramps in them and stick straight out.
9. I do not like wet bath mats.
10. I HAVE to go to church every week or else I feel out of sorts – grumpy :-).

1. After having my gall bladder removed, I kept my gall stones in a jar for awhile. Both my sons took them to show and tell. Those gall stones are also the reason I never eat capers anymore. The resemblance is striking.
2. I was a tomboy for a long time and missed the whole make up and shopping thing.
3. I am gay and doing the Breaking Free bible study (and reading SLI). And wondering how to go about not being gay anymore. I might as well ask how to go about living without my right arm, but I can't seem to find peace with the way I am.
4. Music moves my soul like nothing else.
5. I love road trips. Windows down, music blaring, map in my lap total paradise.
6. I'll eat peanut butter with just about anything except bananas. And I mean anything (sardines, tuna, fried eggs, hamburgers, etc.)

2. I am pregnant with our third child. Last night my three-year-old told me there are two babies in my belly. I hope that is not prophetic.

6. On that note, I have an amazing husband who is a firefighter, amazing cook, cleans, builds and fixes things, sews things, loving husband and father…
7. I managed a flower shop for years…flowers are beautiful, but dirty.
8. I have an obsession with purses, pretty journals, ink pens and baby things.
9. I love having a neat and clean house, but with a 3-year-old and 18-month old, I find that task nearly impossible.
10. My grandfather has been mistaken for Billy Graham many times. In fact, one time while he was in a waiting room, two people started to argue. One said, "He MUST be Billy Graham, he has a Bible."
1) I call my identical twin my "twinal unit" or TTOM (that twin of mine.)
2) I'm very sensitive to annoying noises like gum cracking and nail clipping. Ugh.

6) I love Italy! We went there on our honeymoon 4 1/2 years ago.

9) My favorite food is an artichoke or is it Brussels sprouts, can't decide. Roasted in butter, there's nothing better! Except maybe that artichoke.
10)My favorite TV program ever is Monarch of the Glen a BBC series. Try Netflix, they have it. Very fun!

6. When my first son was a month old, I hemorrhaged, to the point of unconsciousness, and required emergent surgery. He just turned 8years old on Monday!

9. No matter how many times my husband assures me the car is locked, I still must grab the remote door opener and mash the lock button one more time (just to hear the horn beep!).

1. I can't stand bones in ANYTHING. I love chicken but basically can't eat it if it has bones in it.
