Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.
OK, Siestas! What about you? What are 10 quirky things we might not know?
1. My first job was at 11, modeling holloween costumes for a local party store.
2. I am the only girl in my family and the youngest of 3. My 2 older brothers are 8 and 10 years older than me.
3.My mom had me at 32. I always thought 32 was old for having children. Of course, (with God's humor) I was 33 with my first.
4. I am older than my husband by almost 3 months.
5. I was married at 30 and refused to have our wedding in any of the months he was still 29 so it was the month after he turned 30 when we were married.
6. My first time on an airplane was a short trip at age 9. I flew again by myself on a longer trip at age 12.
7. I take that back, my first time on a plane was on a private plane with my oldest brother and a friend of his. I was around 7 or 8.
8. I love to fly and would have loved to have been a pilot. Ironicly, my husband hates to fly (again God's humor).
9.I moved to TN from CA by myself at 22 years old. Fortunately God was with me.
10. I love freshly laundered sheets.

6. I have vowed to not take my children to Disney World. Ever.
7. I'm 25 years old and I was jealous that my brother got the first season of ALF for a gift this past Christmas.
8. One of my favorite classes in college was Tack Construction and Repair. I learned how to make bridles, halters, and dog collars out of leather.
9. If I didn't care so much, I would shave all my hair off. I get tired of dealing with it.
10. One of my dream jobs is to be a professional organizer.

1. i am obsessed with my h2o flower steamer. several people have bought one because i posted it on facebook all the time.
2. i got a hand held steamer, at my request, for all the nitty gritty dirty spots throughout my house.
3. in 1996, new years eve, i rolled my car several times and took down several little pine trees & landed upside down. all this due to trying to use my new cell phone, which was huge. God truly spared my life that day.
4. i love mornings. i am a morning person.
5. i prayed for kids that love to get up in the morning and God answered my prayers. they are 10 & 7 year old boys.
6. i thought i would be a great mom for little girls. i don't have girls and i don't miss the drama i would be enduring.
7. i am super organized and manage my time well.
8. i know most everything about living a gluten free lifestyle. my son was diagnosed with a wheat allergy in June & my nose is in all the information all the time.
9. i have not tasted most of the gluten free food, i rely on my son's opinion.
10. after i cook a big huge meal i barely eat any of it. the aroma makes me full.
Not really an answer to the question, but thought this was funny. I was watching session 7 of The Inheritance this morning and my 6 year old son came down just as Beth was talking about the difference in a talent and a spiritual gift. So my son says, "Oh! I get it mom! My ability to stand on my head is NOT a spiritual gift, it's just a talent!" He's got it!

1. I love espresso drinks (latte, cappuccino) but can't STAND regular coffee!
2. I have read the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker about 10 times, each book start to finish, and I've bawled like a baby every single time we get to the point of Christ's redemption in the story!
3. I'm a picture-aholic. If I had my way, my entire house would be wallpapered in snapshots!!
4. I often wonder how freeing it would be to eat a meal and not worry about being messy! Of course, I'll never do it! =P
5. I despise talking on the phone. I will answer the phone for my mother, my brother and my best friend, but it's only because I love them more than I hate phone calls!
6. I'm so nosey at Starbucks! I want to go up to everyone and ask what their special drink is, and maybe even take a swig of it to see if it's better than mine!
7. I will let my laundry go 2 weeks before I make myself wash anything…disgusting, I know! (But somewhat easy to do with a family of 2!)
8. I wear my hair down when I'm going out because it looks pretty, but it makes me SO claustrophobic! It's up in a ponytail as soon as I get to my house!!
9. It's very hard for me to put down a book once I've started it! I'd rather sit down and read it from cover to cover!
10. I'm an organizational freak. When I was a child, I would line up my M&Ms by color and number before eating them; I can't stand for a group of things NOT to be organized (books, videos, ANYTHING!), and I often re-organize just for fun!
1. I am pregnant with twins…which should be arriving on April 12th and I can't wait!

3. I often save leftovers, but rarely eat them. They hang out in the fridge until I run out of containers and clean them out.
4. I am a preschool developmental delay teacher-meaning I teach kids with all types of special needs who are ages 3-5.

1. I am literally blind as a bat. The two big brown circles in my head that I inherited from my sweet Daddy are merely for cosmetic purposes only.
2. I am addicted to cuticle oil and lotion.
3. I have my Bible with me just about everywhere I go. It's cute, small, came with it's own little purse. It has a red poppy on the front and I am NUTTSO about red poppies and red tulips so on and so forth…red red red!
4. I am OCD about my teeth, skin and lots of other things….yes, the retainer is a MUST at night.
5. I am a self-professed "bag lady" …that means, if "it" (anything from make-up to bibles) comes WITH a cute little bag then I just have to buy it!
6. I am slow to purchase but if I see the infomercial more than 5 times AND it will make me healthier, weigh less, look younger and it doesn't cost very much then I will most likely buy it. =)
7. I own a Jack Lalane juicer and the one and only thing I tried to juice in it was a pomegranite. Yes, my counter tops looked as if I had field dressed a deer right there. =/
8. The more kitchen towels the better!
9. I'm a pen freak. And I'm ashamed to say that I've not been (at times) to ashamed to ask, "can I keep this pen?" ha ha ha but I am a big girl now and I can refrain.

1. I hate mustard! It makes me shiver to think about it.
2. When I was 16, I reversed through the garage door of my parents' house, just forgot to open it and backed up – that is hard to explain to a dad.
3. When I walk into a place, I automatically start finding "better" ways to do things – I reorganize grocery stores in my head, think of more efficient systems to run restaurants, etc. I don't know why. It just happens! (I have learned not to share these ideas with most people.)
4. Everyone says I look just like my mom unless they know my dad's mom, and then they say I look just like her. I guess I'm a good mix.
5. I like the way Bible pages sound when you've written all over them – that crinkly noise.
6. I still use a paper and pen planner, and I love going and buying a new one for the new year and filling in all the dates I know.
7. I don't cry in movies, ever, even when I want to. (I do cry in life!)
8. My family plays polo so I grew up around horses, but I do NOT like to ride horses.

3. I love ribbons, love it when they smell starched, and at night I am known to hold the ribbons close to my face and rub it on my lips and face while watching my favorite shows.
4. I adore coffee. I have also been known to dip my ribbons in coffee so they smell like coffee. Weird, right???
5. I love old houses, and will drive around any city while on vacation just to look at the homes. The best time is when it's just starting to get dusk so the blinds are still open and lights are on. I know every house that is for sale in my city at all times. Love houses.
6. I'm trying to get pregnant.
7. I have a shoe and purse fetish. I love to shop, but I return 75% of what I buy.
8. I gave up sugar for lent, but think I am gong to continue, I actually enjoy not eating so much sugar.
