Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

1. I'm a chocoholic and a day without chocolate is a day to be mourned.
2. I love telling people I'm 41 and having them gasp and declare that I look 25.
3. I have to wear heels with everything b/c God did not create me with legs that can reach down to any length of pants.
4. I like hot and spicy food. If it doesn't burn the roof of my mouth, it aint food.
5. Every drawer in my house is a junk drawer but no one knows it unless they start opening drawers. And they'd better not!
6. I have eye-liner tatooed on my lids.
7. I love to read.
8. I drive way too fast and need to slow down.
9. I am not gifted with organizational skills and envy those who are.
10. I don't like fruit with my salad and I don't like nuts in my food (except chocolate but no fruit in my chocolate, please. Not even fruity flavored ones.) I like them on their own just fine.
1. I'm left-handed.
2. I don't really like ice cream. Or cake.
3. I love thrift stores. Been known to buy underwear there. (I know!)
4. I don't like to shop.

I am struggling to try to quit smoking so Jesus will use me.

3. I lost my license for 60 days for crossing a stopped bus on a five lane highway…..26 done/34 to go.
4. I've been knitting for one year this month and have completed 8 sweaters in addition to scarves and hats.
5. My husband will start back to work on Monday after 3 months off.
6. Every residence but one has been within a five mile radius of the house in which I grew up.
7. I milked cows every morning from the age of 20 – 26 and had the best looking red fingernails of my life.
8. I like neat more than clean.
9. I can remember phone numbers of people I've only called once.
10. I had my first date with my husband and wedding date six months later.

10. I am a tool fanatic. I just love tools and appreciate good quality. Yard, kitchen, maintenance tools… all of them.

When walking to the townhouse I lived in on the "House" side of the Hill, I'd walk through the lit Capitol by myself (every one else being in bed) but when I'd get to the Rotunda, I'd skip around it and sing, "This is My Capitol" (my made up song to the tune of "This is My Country"); then I'd wave goodnight to George Washington – who you know, sits at the tip top of the Rotunda, looking down; and I'd make my way home. (Sorry this one took so long. You asked for quirky – and I'm pretty sure I've never even thought to tell anyone this before. I love the confessional nature of our blog!!)

I would have been ex-communicated from the fam for that one (and probably my hubby too!!)
4. I painted my very manly hubby's toenails one time while he was asleep in retaliation because we had plans to go and see a movie!! My hubby tried to get the polish off but it didn't budge. He forgot about it…until he took his boots (and socks) off after hunting one afternoon in front of his macho hunting buddy! OOOPS!! You can just imagine the reaction!!!

1. I was on accutane for 9 months. Most people are only on it for 6 at the most. My greatest fear is that my acne will return at any moment in full force.
2. You'll know I'm in a good mood if I'm either singing or humming as I walk around.
3. I've never dated/kissed/or been on a date with a guy. I'll be 25 in June.
4. I like to pick my mascara off my eyelashes at night when I'm watching TV. It's odd.

1. LOVE to read…everything from children’s books/juvenile fiction to spiritual (Beth Moore, CS Lewis, Erwin McManus) to mysteries (Mary Higgins Clark) to business (Fierce Conversations, Good to Great)…and everything in between.
2. Have read the Harry Potter series more times than I can count and the Twilight series at least 4 times (although I think it’s more like 5).
3.I love boots and jeans and usually go straight from boots to flip flops.

1. I love to read so much I would read the backs of shampoo bottles in the shower as a child.
2. I love fruit but hate to wash, cut and prepare it, so I hardly ever eat it.
3. I have to tuck the bottoms of my pajama legs into socks so they don't scrunch up on me while I sleep. (totally sexy for a newlywed, I know)
4. I am a perfectionist and a procrastinator stuffed in the same fluffy little body, so I am constantly frustrated.
