Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

Wow…this one really makes me think… OK..here goes!
1. I am engaged to a wonderful Godly man who I met on the internet on a Christian dating site.
2. I am 42 and have a 2 yr old and 7 yr. old boys…gaining a 14 yr. old daughter when I marry.
3. I didn't know what a blog was until last summer and now I have my own and love visiting other people's!!
4. I used to be a youth minister
5. I hate cleaning the kitchen but LOVE the feeling of vacuuming and how it makes a room look!
6. I have to have a diet pepsi to wake up in the morning…
7. I have bipolar and adhd but I am finally discovering the amazing, unique woman God created me to be and am no longer ashamed of my disabilities!!!
8. I have social anxiety in groups in person but do great on the internet!
9. I love to cook for my fiance…spoil him rotten but hate doing the dishes afterward!
10. I am very passionate about whatever I do and just love to talk about it!
1. I love rollercoasters – the faster, the better!
2. When putting my groceries on the belt thing at the cashier, I organize them into frozen foods, cold foods, produce and dry goods.
3. My golden retrievers come with me to work everyday (I'm the only person at my office).
4. I'm a bookkeeper but it takes me a long time to add numbers in my head!
5. I'm an animal lover and am married to a hunter. Hmmm.
6. I don't eat any seafood (it's a visual thing)
7. I have some Christmas decorations up all year long
8. My daughter loves the "cowboy cookies" that I make for her every year on the 1st day of school
9. I love salsa & spaghetti sauce but can't eat a slice of tomato
10. My husband and I got baptized on the same day!
1. I love to turn my Christian music way up in my home and dance with my kids. (Shocks people–I guess I seem much more reserved when I'm out).
2. The sheets on my bed must have NO wrinkles. I can't stand that.
3. And I don't like any part of my body to touch the edge of the bed when I sleep.
4. My brother was a famous professional jockey, and I was always so proud of him–but didn't get to tell him.
5. I absolutely LOVE those little wedding cookies that come in the pink box. I get to eat them when I go home. My mom buys me a box 🙂 🙂
6. I HATE to take medicine. I try to avoid it at all costs. I'm like a little kid!!
7. I LOVE to travel. (My husband said when we got married we would travel the world—yea, we were missionaries in 3rd world countries for 9 years HE HE!!)
8. I LOVE long hair. I think it's so feminine looking.
9. You will never catch me wearing pant suits!! even though they are cool on other women.
10. I will NEVER drink the last swallow of any drink–not even my own.

3.I cannot leave my bed unmade. If, by some chance, it does not it somehow get made before bed time or gets messed up before bedtime, I have to remake it before I can get in it. Weird, I know.
4.I LOVE books. I am typically reading anywhere between 4 or 5 books at a time.
5.I TRIPLE LOVE my coffee. I have been known to travel with my own coffee pot and coffee.
6.I don’t like it when my husband goes away overnight. To compensate, I always have my laptop on the bed with me and it plays the movie Facing the Giants on repeat until morning.
7.I write dear God letters every morning and still have everyone I have written for the past 13 years.
8.The first thing I do when I get home from my day is put on a super comfy pair of jammies.
9.I had to have a total hysterectomy when I was 30 and never had any children of my own.
10.I cry when I sing Amazing Grace. Without fail, every single time, by the fourth verse.
1. I hate odd numbers, so much so that it was one of the main factors when deciding which day last October I would get married.
2. I just married my favorite person in the world, who happens to also be from Chad, Africa.
3. I hate the sound of someone clipping their fingernails or chewing gum.
4. I have a habit of picking my fingers (the nail/skin) and have done it since I was little.
5. I LOVE traveling. I'm 29 years old and have been to 22 countries and 40 U.S. states.
6. When I was 21 years old, I moved to West Africa where I lived for 2 years.
7. I canNOT stand to leave my house without earrings in my ears!
8. Between my husband and I, we speak 6 languages.
9. My husband and I both work for the same agency, which is a non-profit that resettles refugees from all over the world.
10. I'm obsessed with reading blogs about orphans or people who have adopted orphans.

1. I'm partially deaf in my left ear (so when I don't remember what you said…I was listening with my deaf ear!)
2. I love french fries dipped in a chocolate shake.
3. I know all the words to almost every Barbara Mandrell song.
4. I love to virtually shop (fill up my "cart" with fabulous outfits but never click "checkout").
5. My day is ruined if I'm having bad hair…I mean really bad if I'm having bad hair.
6. I think lipgloss is overated and all women look great in real, COLOR FULL lipstick! And one should never leave the house without putting some on!
7. I don't eat food right off the bone.
8. I think a drag queen must have taught me how to apply eye makeup because I can't stop myself from layering it on!
9. I am not a morning person…at all. Like, don't talk to me before 10 a.m. if you want to like me.
10. I have to turn all my coffee mug handles to the left (in the cabinet, on the counter, always)…I don't know why but I've always done this and feel the need to turn other peoples' mugs the same. Maybe because I'm left handed?

#2. I've facilitated Bible studies weekly for over 10 years and still every week I'm terrified to come before my group of ladies, but I do it scared.

Can I just say that I LOVE how quirky we women can be! I'm gonna join the quirky fun:
1. I have had 18 teeth pulled by a dentist in my lifetime.
2. I lived in 4 different states, 6 different cities (2 of them twice), and 13 different houses before the age of 12.
3. I love to read.
4. When I finish a book in bed at night I have to at least read one page of another book before I fall asleep-even if I'm exhausted. I have to know that I am in the middle of a book at all times.
5. I hate to fly-have to take Xanax. No scared we will crash-just feel trapped…I think it's claustrophia.
6. I almost cannot go to sleep without taking a bath first. I have to be beyond exhausted to do it.
7. I have a home business where I constantly get to give away hundreds of dollars in free jewelry and make other women's dreams come true of starting a home business. 9. i recently saw the movie "Book of Eli" with Denzel Washington. I think it may be my new favorite movie. Warning: it is NOT a kids movie (and it has violence and cursing), but it will get you FIRED up for God. We are in a WAR siestas. Seriously! watch it. Don't worry, I won't spoil the movie, but I have to say this: when you see the girl stick her sword in her sheath and go out at the end (you'll know what i mean when you watch it), remember that she represents US. that is ME and that is YOU! let's do this thing! i could cry just thinking about it…

4. I don't like "sticky" or hard hair, so I just don't use any "product". That's right, no moose, no hairspray, nothing. I have, however started using It's a 10, which my hairstylist calls "Hair Crack", and I love it. It's just a leave-in conditioner. Last night after her bath Kylee said, "Mommy, can you come put crack in my hair, please?" Joey was moritifed.
5. I am obsessed with figuring out just the right gift for everybody. I can't stand giving a gift that hasn't been completely thought out for days.
6. I want a subscription to People magazine but can't make myself get one. I just sneak them in the groceries at the WalMart check-out.
7. I spelled my daughter's middle name awkwardly. It is not McKay. It is McK. Yes, there is a reason for it. She was due on my Poppy K's birthday.
8. I want a lap dog. I don't have time for one. I don't need one. I shouldn't have one. I just want one.
9. WhenI make Hamburger Helper for supper, even when the kids request it, I feel like a failure as a mother. Shouldn't I make them a "real" meal? I do it anyway.

7. My first auto accident involved rear-ending an old man who was turning into the bank 'cause I was checking at some cute guys in a pick-up truck. Mom went to her grave never knowing just how that accident happened.
8. The before mentioned accident happened just two days after I bought my car. Bought the car on Thursday, wrecked it on Saturday.
9. I love Black music too – even some rap – as long as it's Christian. It's got to have a message.
10. When in elementary school, I once tied a couple of girls to a volleyball pole and proceeded to dance around them waving a homemade tomahawk. But I am native american so I think it was justified. I didn't hurt any of them….

1. My parents changed my name from Theresa to Terri when I was six weeks old.
2. I became a Christian after my boyfriend took me to church so that I could understand how he had been raised (but was not living).
3. I graduated from high school when I was 17, then it took another 17 years (and 3 kids) to graduate from college.
4. I say that I am addicted to "print"–if there is something to be read, I just have to read it.
5. We moved from Wisconsin to Missouri the day after we were married. I cried the first 100 miles.
6. My favorite scent is sheets that were hung out to dry.
7. Coke Zero is my BFF. OK, really Jesus, but I do love Coke Zero.
