Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

1. I have to have straight sheets on the bed before I can feel comfortable. I have been known to get out of bed and straighten them, much to Captain's chagrin.
2. I have a certain way to fill my grocery basket. And then it also goes on the conveyor belt in a certain order. Cold stuff first, then cans, boxes, miscellaneous, and then the fragile stuff like fruits/veggies/eggs/breads and chips.
3. I like doing things my own way.
4. I enjoy a day when I am productive.
5. I like library books better than purchased books. I also judge a book by the cover.
6. I love broccoli roasted with garlic, and I don't eat brussel sprouts enough to make me happy.
7. I physically feel pain when I see someone fall or get hurt. Durn AFV television show!
8. I love watching movies. Even parts of movies make me happy.
9. I can't spend the day in my jammies. The first thing I do when I get up is get dressed.

Can I say how much I love you all right this second? I signed up for SLI and am so messed up internally about it, I can't even open the comment pages to read or share.
But this post, these lists, I fell over the moon for you this morning. I love my siestas, and I rarely admit that out loud about anyone or anything.
Jenny hud you made me laugh. I do the same thing! I add things to my to-do list after I've done them too. Scratching them off the list is so satisfying.
It takes courage to have fun! Who knew? So, here's my top ten.
1. I was born on another continent. (Tripoli Lybia)
2. I am #5 of 7 children and I have a twin already in Heaven.
3. I don't usually bother with make-up and my hair does what it wants. Thankfully, we have sons so teaching the skills of applying make-up and fixing hair was never an issue.
4. This one is gross, but it comes with the territory of spending my life in a predominantly male household. I am the official judge of any and all burping contests. Since I couldn't beat them I decided to join in the fun, not by burping you understand – that will not happen as a girl has to draw the line somewhere – but by rating their burps on a scale of 1 – 10 for depth and volume. (told you it was gross!)
5. I love to watch a good football game, especially the Superbowl.
6. My guys (husband included) love to watch me watch the Superbowl. They never know from year to year which will be more entertaining, the famed superbowl commercials or their wife/mother.
7. I love to read!
8. I love Southern Gospel music – it resonates deep in my soul.
9. I am a day dreamer and one day I will have a novel to show for it!
10.Now for a serious one because I just can't help myself. I miss my Sunday afternoon phone calls talking football and politics with my Daddy who went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2009. (Typing this one through tears and I don't usually do that, but tears are a good thing for me these days.

1. I love notecards, writing pads and stationery and could stand in one of those stationery aisles for hours. nothing like a handwritten letter.
2. I've been off of sugar and wheat for 34 days and not had a single craving for it…thank you, Lord!

4. I love to drive to Estes Park, CO for a personal day several times a year.
5. I love to spend time looking at photos of beautiful scenery or interiors of homes.
6. Love HGTV and do it yourself projects.
7. Would have loved to live in the days of Little House on the Prairie!
8. My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice (2005 version) and the book is even better!
9. Spring and summer are my favorite times of year.
10. When I was a kid, my dad got me hooked on eating an ice cream cone with a scoop of choclate chip and a scoop of chocolate mint. Last fall, we got a Blue Bell ice cream shop here in town. The guy drives down to Texas and brings it back…awesome! Oh yeah, I'm off sugar. 🙂

1. I have to sleep with a pair of socks on with my pajama pants tucked into the socks…very stylish!
2. Sometimes when I'm feeling super lazy, I will just use listerine instead of brushing my teeth (can't believe i'm admitting that).
3. I've had 2 root canals (see above comment for reason why).
4. I have red hair and the one time I put blonde highlights in my hair my grandmother cried. =(
5. I use SPF 70 in the summer (no exaggeration).
6. I have to make a list before packing a suitcase and I plan what outfits I'm wearing on which days on vacation.
7. I hate the sound of crunching ice.
8. I can't do the fake nail thing…they make my nails feel too heavy.
9. One of my 8th grade students hit me in the back of the head today with a bouncy ball while I was writing on the board.
10. I'm counting the days til summer (see above comment for reason why).

4. Sometimes just one or two of my toes get hot – and turn very red. Hubby loves to mock me for this.
5. I adore camping. Except in the rain.

10. I hate reading instruction booklets – honey reads them and then explains it to me!

6. I do my best house cleaning when Orange Blossom Special is cranked up loud.
7. Love Christmas. All of it. Even the madness.
8. I make a mean Swiss Enchiladas and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

1.I ALWAYS burn the bread. My son laughs everytime he hears from the kitchen "Darn it!"
2.Our family of 4 renames our dog every week since he was a puppy. He is now 5 years old. This week we are calling him "Duggly."
3.We've had our house for sell for 2 years. Hardest WAIT of my life!

5.I ran 2 marathons in my 30's. I'm now 41.
6.Soon after the marathons, (I wish I would have discovered it sooner)I started drinking coffee and am now addicted. I also LOVE Starbucks Iced Green Tea!
7.At home or in hotels, I MUST wear slippers. I have 2 pair. One for dirty feet and one for clean feet right out of the shower.
8.I hate it when my husband fans the covers when he gets in the bed. But that's his only flaw. LOL
9.I received college scholarships playing the trumpet. I haven't pick it up since graduation. My daughter plays it now.
10.God has called me to sing. I'm working on it. Insecurity-WATCH OUT!
