DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

What’s not to love about fall?! Sending my girls back to school in cute new outfits, watching football with my man, walking the dog through all the gorgeous leaves, sipping a pumpkin spice latte…ahh, life is good!
It may sound weird, but fall its the most romantic season for me. I love all the colors on the trees, long walks on trails full of leaves holding hands with my husband. It’s cool enough for you to wear a jacket and complement it with the wonderful hug of a loved one. It brings memories of the year that just went by and it calls for the new beginning that will soon start. It tells me that is a time to rest, that new life is about to come. It is wonderful how nature obeys when it’s Master, Our Lord, gives it a time to res. to prepare for the time when they will wake up again full of life and color. How I wish I could be as obedient as they are, and rest when I’m asked to. Only to come back full of color and splendor to the glory of my beloved Father. I JUST LOVE FALL.
Ps: not to mention all the wonderful boots and accessories that come with this season π
WOW!! What a wonderful ensemble of gifts/prizes!! What do I love about fall? I love that first cool day when I get to break out the hoodie and wrap my cool hands around my hot cup of coffee (coffee thats mostly cream and sugar! :-)).
Love the holidays, the wonderful food, beauty of the leaves, layering clothes, cooler weather and much more.
Melissa could you please do a post on your hair soon? It’s so shiny and beautiful. I think any tips you could give would definitely be considered women’s ministry:)
Thanks,
Angel Varney
Hello, autumn is my favorite season. I love the crisp mornings and the warmth of a wood fire, and the colors of the leaves are beautiful against the clear blue skies.
I love candy & caramel apples and marching bands. I love putting away the summer clothes and pulling out my sweaters and leggings and boots. I love how it reminds me that just like seasons of weather changes, so does the seasons of life and time marches on. Fall brings hope and leads beautifully into the season of the birth of our Lord. And that Baby changes everything.
I’m Briley O’Connor in Alexandria, Va (the most wonderful state in which to experience fall). I adore hay rides and the smell of autumn apples right before they tumble off their trees. π Unrelatedly, I’d give my left thumb for that dutch oven.
The essence of fall is changing colors of the leaves (when I’m on the east coast) combined with the smoke of a camp fire and my mama’s sweet potato pie. Ok, now I’m homesick.
So in West Texas (Midland) we don’t get to experience the beautiful colors that more wooded areas provide. That would require trees rather than tumbleweeds! The temperature does cool a bit though and fall is a welcome change from the scorching summer heat. The most welcome announcement is the holidays approaching. I cherish time with family over Thanksgiving and Christmas. The thought of the family dinners, of course, is enough to make my mouth water!
Cooler weather! Hot chocolate! Scarves! Boots!! Soup!Really, what’s not to love about Fall?
It’s hard to limit my comments, as I love EVERYTHING about fall. The crisp, cool weather, the beautiful colors of nature, a real fire in the fireplace, and of course, football!! It’s my favorite season, which probably goes back to my childhood. My dad was a farmer and I loved riding the combine with him or climbing into a truck full of soybeans. Fall also meant that he would be around more, as he was gone daylight to dark in the summer and I missed him. Fall is fabulous and my only complaint is that it doesn’t last long enough!
I love fall for the beautiful smells, vibrant colors and cooler weather,
BUT the thing I love most about fall is the anticipation of family fun to come as
we celebrate being thankful for so much! Thanks for all that you do!

I love that nip in the air that let’s you know winter is coming, so you put on the chili and watch some good college football.
Fall in East Tennessee brings the most amazing color blue sky on clear sunny days. There is no other time of year that the sky is this color. It only happens when the leaves change to their beautiful fall colors and contrast against the blue sky.
I love the smell of leaves falling and seeing all God’s glory as the leaves turn into brilliant hughes of yellow, orange and red, going to an apple orchard and tasting yummy apples, my kids dressing up in costumes and visting with all my neighbors as they stop by on Halloween.
Kristi Daughtrey – I love crisp, cool days (even though we’re not having many and how the sun of them these days in OK!), and how the sun shifts and sets/how it throws light in the house in the late day. ; )
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year because my husband and started dating
25 years ago this month and will celeb rate our 25th wedding anniversary
In March. The cool air the beautiful colors all remind of
Our first date. I thank God for each precious year with my wonderful man!
Also in just 13 days we will become grandparents for the first time and are extremely
Excited.
I too love the chili and soups. And baking apple pie for my family.
I love the fall time of year. Waiting for its arrival
To see the beauty of what The Lord displays to
Us. His creation his work and HIS glory captures
My heart everytime and every season of my life.
My name is Kristina Neldner. I love fall…the scents of autumn and the dazzling colors awaken our senses to the beauty of God’s creation. I also cherish the family time that is imminent with the fall season. We have so much to be grateful for in our nation. Life is hard…but God is good!
I love the changing leaves and the cooler weather. Everything is so crisp, it’s beautiful
The cooler weather…
I love the crisp smell in the air and those so few perfect days when the cool breeze is blowing lightly with the sun high in the sky warms you like the Lord’s embrace. I love the changing of the leaves, but most of all I love the family coming together for Thanksgiving! -Angie Sharp
I absolutely love snuggling up with a London Fog latte and my bible just soaking in the beauty!
It is a fabulous time to find friends and have fun together!

I live in Phoenix, AZ, so fall is more of a romantic idea than a reality. We live vicariously through all of you who have crisp weather and beautiful leaves and get to wear boots and sweaters. We are still in shorts and flip flops. But fall gives us the chance to dream, maybe some below 100 degree days, and an excuse to change up our decor. And maybe, just maybe we can use the oven a few times for some very missed treats and comfort foods.
I love the chill in the air and the changing colors of the leaves. Max, my dog, loves the cooler air too.
I love going on the Blue Ridge Parkway here in North Carolina and seeing all those mountains in full bloom. It’s gorgeous.
I love the colors and scents of Fall. They are so warm and comforting. Here in Houston we don’t have all of the beautiful colors of the leaves turning as they do up North, so I just have to enjoy the pictures. Perhaps one day I can travel to see the changing of the leaves, but for now I will turn on my Scentsy, put out the fall flowers and sit on my sofa and enjoy the aroma of Pumpkin Spice. I LOVE FALL!!! Thank you Lord for giving us this awesome season!
Sandy Hartley~ Apple Pickers (those long poles with a little metal basket on the end) and watching my 4 & 8 year old wield them on our Pear & Apple Trees! Add in the lingering smell of cinnamon, cloves & nutmeg as they’re turned into butters and sauces, and the season has begun (especially with a hot cup of eggnog on the side!). Happy Harvesting :o)
Fall is my favorite time of year. First, my husband and I got married in the fall! Then 2 of our 3 sons were born in the fall! I love the cooler days and baking yummy things!
I love making soup and homemade bread!
Love the cooler temps, beautiful colors and anticipation of the holidays…kinda love it all, my favorite. π
I adore everything about fall! But here in NW Florida I especially love seeing the cotton fields in bloom and my guys gearing up for hunting season.
I love how God works doing the fall, even when you can’t see the golden glow of the sun because of the rainy weather he goes and paints all of the leaves beautiful warm colors!
Wow…. fabulous. I get excited about a cozy sweater with a warm drink.
You all are so generous! I love the fall because it is the season of my birth. 37 years young next Wednesday π I also love that the CMA awards are always close to my birthday. My favorite though is the cool crisp morning air. It’s perfect for morning walks with the Lord.
Forgot to put my first and last name. It’s Bethany Silva π
Fall reminds me of the creativity of God. It makes me so thankful that He would care so much to give us such a beautiful place to live while we wait to join Him in heaven. Can you imagine how glorious it will be…if this place is broken? I cant wait to see all the good things He is preparing for us?

I love getting out my sweaters (that I haven’t seen in 9 months, since I live in South Texas!), cooking soup, and remembering God’s faithfulness as recorded in Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” The changing of the seasons always reminds me of God’s Sovereignty and Omnipotence. Little things like hot cider, crisp mornings, walking my dog without getting drenched with sweat–these are the things I like about fall.
Fall is my Favorite time of year. I love the cool crisp mornings which are so refreshing, the autumn leaves, everything pumpkin, love the aroma of cloves and cinnamon throughout my home, love to burn candles and cuddle with a fire in the fireplace and meditate on ALL God’s Blessings in my life.
I love the leaves in all their gorgeous colors. It is my favorite season. π
The very first non fat pumpkin. Spice latte of the season. And my little girl wearing tights and boots with her dresses.
Fall favorites: Autumn leaves, crisp cool days (and evenings), football, boots, sweaters, and pumpkin everything!
I love the beautiful colors of the changing leaves and knowing that Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming!
I love the musty-sweet smell of fallen leaves as you walk through the woods on a crisp fall day.
When I was a kid we moved to a new town and a new school in December. The next fall I was playing outside on a fresh, sunny, crisp color filled Saturday. i was amazed to hear marching band music and cheers fill the air. It was as if the world was celebrating the wonder of the change of seasons. Although I found out later that we lived near a high school football stadium, I still listen for the music. Fall is a time of surprises–of color, of music, of life.
I love Fall. The air is crisp and the beauty of God’s changing leaf colors make me smile. God is incredible and His artistic touches here on earth are such a blessing to me. π
Fall is the perfect transition between the two extremes, the heat and the freezing cold. I can’t get enough of the beauty God splashes on the trees, the crisp air, pumpkin spice chai, and the knee high boots which make me oh so happy. It’s just a happy time, a bit of peace and quiet before the roar of the holidays; a time to realize all you have to be thankful for. What a blessing.
I love Fall! Pumpkin spice lattes, awesome smelling candles and beautiful scenery when visiting my home state Kentucky. I live in Rosenberg, Texas so I really enjoy those fun visits to see my family. I could go on and on but I do love Fall!!
I love Fall’s beautiful display of the glory of God. He is so good to us!
I love fall for all the reasons the girls have mentioned but I love the turning of the grass to lt yellow.. I think we should celebrate at least in Stillwater Ok.. the end of mowing season…..
I like the fresh start – new school year, new routine.
