DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.

It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.

Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.

Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:

But really, enough about us.

I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.

Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Do I have a faithful fall remnant?

This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).

I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:

The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:

Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.

Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.

Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:

This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).

Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.

Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.

Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?

So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.

We love you so much,

Melissa

My favorite fall thing use to be the time my mom, my daughter and I would spend out running errands & driving to some of the most beautiful places to look at the changing colors. We, however, had to lay my mother (age 60) to rest this past Saturday so my family plans to at least do some driving around and praising God for keeping our mother with Him now.

God’s beautiful masterpiece of colors in the landscape especially here in Northern California, scent of cinnamon, apple trees, bonfires on the beach, large pinecones and extra large maple leaves make for great centerpieces and collage…..time to put on the “egg-noggin” tea bag and turn on Christmas Christian praise and SCRAP!

I live in deep South Texas so I cannot say I love the fall for cool weather or colorful leaves or being able to use the fire place . . . because that stuff does not happen here! But I love fall because when the temperature does finally drop below 70 degrees, everyone here pulls out their sweaters and scarves and pretends like it is fall. πŸ™‚ Love you Beth and Melissa! I’m doing the James study now. Melissa, I love your hair dark! πŸ™‚

Although fall means the end of summer and the coming of the cold harsh Canadian winters, it means new life to me. My two beautiful baby girls were born in the fall – one turned 11 yesterday (Jessica) and one turns 7 tomorrow (Rebekah)!! With just one day between those birthdays, fall also means this Mommy is busy, busy, busy buying birthday gifts and planning parties! However, I do not mind at all – in fact I wouldn’t have it any other way!! Their brother, however (Riley – 8), feels it’s very unfair that he has to wait until February to celebrate his! So thankful for my precious little pumpkins!!

The Fall is my most favorite time of the year, I grew up in New Hampshire and now live in Kentucky and both locations have the most beautiful Autumns. The colors of the leaves in the trees with the gold and red and green and rust, some looking like they have the sun right in the middle of those gorgeous trees. I love the cool breezes that blow across my face and that of my grandchildren when we are out taking nature walks, I love the aromas at this time of year with the pumpkins muffins, the candy corn crunch and those wonderful cups of hot mulled apple cider!!

    Lori Krance says:

What I love the most about the fall season are the leaves. The vibrant colors of the leaves on the trees. Once they drift to the ground, the crunching sound as I walk on the leaves, the sound of dry leaves skittering across the sidewalk with the littlest breeze, and the smell of a big pile of leaves that are just waiting for someone to jump into them.

  12. 2912
    Julie Raybine says:

Fall is my favorite season. It’s the gentle transition between the hot Summer & cold Winter. I have come to love a particular color when the leaves turn color – a bright fiery color – a mixture of pink, yellow, & orange – so beautiful that only God could create it. The color is created when the leaves are in the process of dying, & it reminds me that even in our brokenness God’s glory can shine through us!

I love Fall because of the cool crisp days, the bright colorful leaves wisping through the air as though they are dancing before the Lord! Life seems to slow down a bit although not much. I am away from my home church alot in the summer so by Fall I get to reconvene with my church family and settle in the community I love dearly and reconnect. I love the fall food especially anything pumpkin!!! It’s time to get the crock pot out and cook up some good old fashioned soups. Linda says:

What do I love about fall? I love the crisp days of indian summer, when your feet crunch the leaves that have fallen, and the leaves that are left are beautifully colourful. However, what we’ve got up in Alberta is snow and I don’t think I’ve seen the sun in 3 weeks! Oh well, it’s supposed to warm up this weekend and the sun will come out. I’m thankful that I have a roof over my head and a God that loves me, no matter what the weather is like!

  48. 2948
    Sherrie Ashcraft says:

I love fall here in western Oregon. The changing trees, the hungry birds at my feeders, cuddling with grand kids, and eating my husband’s homemade apple pies are all wonderful parts of fall.
Thanks for doing such a wonderful give away! BTW, I’m currently teaching through “Jesus The One and Only” in the two Bible studies I lead each week as Women’s Ministry Director in my church. We are all drinking deeply in that study!

  49. 2949

This is why I enjoy the wonderful season of fall! πŸ™‚

    1. I get to pray with my family over our Thanksging meal.
    2. Always trying new recipes with pumpkin in them, tonight was pumpkin chilly. Thanks to my dear client Shannon.
    3. I am an all season runner but fall is the best, I can actually breath when the air hits my lungs! In the summer the sun shrinks my lungs and in the winter air way just freezes on me. Now, fall is totally awesome, breath easy, enjoy the beautiful colores leaves.
    4. With that said I am in the best shape in the fall, lose a few. We always like that.. Right?
    5. My slower season comes around this time, so I really dig into Gods word! I mature in the fall, does that make sense to you? If not I think God knows what I mean? Lol.

I’ll leave you with those 5. So many more but they are my main 5. In prayer right now for the scarf & Mac makeup so I can wear it on Thanksgiving! I know Jesus hears my heart. With the slow season, I cut back on shopping.

Fall is a great season.. But in all honesty.. every new season brings joy to my life. . .

I love you all so much!! I wish I could have gotten a pic with the two of you at the Reading conference. I sure did try but your body guard said no. It was such a blessing to see you live.

    Love and prayers!
