DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I love fall because that is when my sweet mom and dad every year travel from my home country The Netherlands to visit me and my husband and escape the cold weather back home.I miss them so very much.I came to the states to work for ONE year only, but the Lord had different plans……and I have been here nearly 23 years !!!!all of them in Texas. This year might be the last time my mom (76) and dad(86)can come due to their health and age. They arrive this saturday (nov 3rd) and will be here till nov 18th.I am so grateful they are able to come and plan to treasure every minute with them.God has truly blessed me with amazing parents.
I love several things about fall! One of the best is snuggling under the covers with my dear husband when I feel ohhh so cold and feeling nice and toasty next to him! :o) (It takes me a while to adjust to the cooler weather with winter approaching.) I love seeing the beautiful, colored leaves falling in North Carolina!
I truly LOVE fall because of the change to cooler temps, the ‘back to school’ feeling that still comes over me, and the gorgeous colors all around. Just the other day I was driving down the road and the yellow aspen leaves were swirling around the street with the wind…it was so fun and just lovely to watch. Fall is my fave~
I love the beautiful colors, the way the sun shines on them, and the crisp clean smelling air!
and I love going back to Bible Study
Butternut squash soup, butternut ravioli, butternut lasagna. Did I mention I love butternut? The start of our neighborhood fall bible study – wrapping up James this Monday! The first fire in the fireplace.
Living in the mountains, fall is the time to walk through piles of colored leaves wearing new scarves and gloves. It signals the season has turned. Love it.
I love the Fall because I enjoy having my hot tea. I fill up my Japanese hot water dispenser in the morning and enjoy hot tea the rest of day and into the night. It is so relaxing to me when I get to wrap my hands around my mug, and I get to sit back, and savor the moment.
My other comment seems to have disappeared. My favorite thing about the fall is that it is the season of my birth and that the weather is crisp and cool. Perfect for morning walks with the Lord. I also love that the CMA awards always happen close to my birthday π
I love the way the air feels. It’s lighter and easier to breathe, especially since I live in the deep south with our very humid air. My absolute favorite thing about fall is being able to open the windows and let this wonderful fresh, light air come inside.
My very favorite part of fall is the ever constant reminder to give thanks. It’s a time to slow down and reflect upon this beautiful life and all the little blessings that make it so.
I love fall–virtually everything about it! I love sweaters & tights, fires in the fireplace, soup for dinner (and sometimes breakfast!), kicking through fallen leaves, seeing the color of trees while driving along country roads, crisp mornings or entire days, snuggling in a warm bed after a productive day, early sunsets…I could go on and on!!!

Thank you for the wonderful ministry and thank you for the opportunity to win those wonderful gifts! I am always thankful but do love the family time we have during the Thanksgiving holiday and the focus we have on God’s majesty and goodness. I am blessed and thankful for Him!
I so love the coolness of fall in central South Dakota. I love that harvest is done and now it is time to get busy with family and holidays!
I love fall because the leaves turn into rainbows of colors; it’s a time to snuggle up with hoodies and sweaters and fire places; it’s fragrant with the smells of cinnamon; cranberries; turkeys and pumpkin pies; and it’s my birthday. π
I love the way God displays the beauty and grandeur of His creation in the fall. Everything from the colors we see to the sounds we hear (crunching leaves) to the smells that fill our kitchens.
Honestly Each season for me just represents how God made everything beautiful in His timing. When I sit down and really bask in His love He shows me this is only a glimpse of what is yet to be. I am blessed beyond for this beautiful season in my life. Everything is falling and to me that represents its a time we get to cling more to Him.. When no fruit is on the vine I will trust in Him..Thankful beyond measure.
OK – I just posted earlier, but the truth is: I dislike the fall. My kids always get sick in the fall! For real, my son has been in the hospital TWICE in the past month! But, I didn’t want to sound too pathetic….and the truth is also, you fall-enthusiasts are a bit contagious. It is difficult not to be a teensy bit excited about the fresh start fall seems to offer, even if in my case it seems to be a fresh start with some new, weird illness no one has ever heard of. But alas, there’s always the hope that next fall will be better! Blessings ladies!
I love fall! I enjoy the changes in the landscape, both in nature and my closet.
I love Fall for so many things…the colors, the smells, crisp cool nights, football, “falling” back an hour and so much more!! ~~Hazel Hatcher
Sandra Allen…fire in the fireplace, curled up with a stack of books, with hot chocolate/tea/cider….
I love football, the first chill in the air after a steamy southern summer. I love Thanksgiving from the grocery shopping to the cooking to the indulgence of the food. All I will add is I did love fall a whole lot more when my Mother was here. Loved doing all the holiday celebrations with her at my side. β€
I live in WV and our Fall is something that you see on a postcard. God’s handiwork on display for all to enjoy. The colors of Fall in WV are simply breathtaking. The trees seem illuminated and each and every year the spectacular display of God’s beauty takes me by delight as if it is the first time I’ve experienced it. I love the sights, sounds and feel of fall. The crisp air, the pumpkins, the apples, the feel of a warm sweater, the smell of wood burning in the firepit, making samores and roasting hotdogs with family and friends, Oh I could go on and on! Fabulous Fall! A welcome friend.
I enjoy autumn because I am reminded that God created a season for everything, and the changing colors of the outdoors manifest His creative powers especially vividly. Springtime is colorful too, but there’s just something about autumn . . .
Wow! You all are soo generous! I love fall because of the cooler temps at night, crisp, clear days, beautiful colors and all the holidays and family gatherings this season brings!
I love fall because of Saturday College Football and pumpkin bread….and, because I get to wear boots again! :))
Crockpot dinners. Baked oatmeal. First flakes of snow. Tights. Starbucks in a red cup.
Some of my favorite fall things are getting to wear jeans again without sweating, hot chocolate, and getting ready for the holidays!
I love the colors of fall, the gold, red, orange, and bronze leaves lighting up the day. The smell of woodsmoke. the chill mornings, and slow cooking. And the return of serious epic dramas to the theaters and a few hours to enjoy them.
I love the way the air smells when a fall cold front comes in (into Houston). Also, the moon looks so much clearer and brighter as the weather turns cooler. I can’t imagine a world without seasons, without the changes in weather and nature, from life to death to new life again.

What I love about fall is the anticipation of the whole holiday season!
And we are going to Sierra Leone as missionaries, which makes me appreciate it even more this year, because I don’t know how many we’ll have in the states before we GO!
Love the blazing tree colors
The fall means a break from the heat and short days. There is a crisp cool feel in the air and it is a time for cooking those warm hearty meals like beef stew and roast. It’s pumpkin pie and cinnamon rolls. It’s biscuits and gravy. I guess I love the foods of fall and the break from the desert heat.
Hi All! Great gift selections…oh my!
Diane Archibald- I love fall for crisp morning walks and especially love the way the sun slants which seems to make everything feel cozier. I love that I get to wear oversized sweaters while cheering on my football team. I love slow cooking pot roasts and making pumpkin everything…pies, coffees, cupcakes, etc.
I love autumn because of the memories it brings of my grandma. She’s been gone 10 years now but I still teach my kids about her and handing out caramel apples to the neighborhood kids (which we now do). I show them pictures of her trees that change the most beautiful colors and how we would climb and hang from the trees (I took my son back to Baltimore for his 13 birthday just to show him my memories). I love eating all her favorites at thanksgiving that my mom still cooks including cutting cranberry sauce in the shape of a turkey. I guess it’s the time of year and heading into Christmas where I remember her the most and teach my kids about her! It’s the way I keep her alive through sharing my memories! Happy Autumn to each of you and all the memories that come along with it!
I just love fall:) The crisp breeze, campfires, pumpkins, coffee, cappuccino, the different colored leaves falling from the trees, scarves, cute + light jackets, harvest parties, and all the beauty of the new season!!
I love how the world seems more quiet. It makes it easier to be still and know that God is God!
I love fall for oh so many reasons!! The number one being what I am doing right now as we speak, putting up my Christmas tree!!! I love getting a head start on celebrating our Saviors birth and my kids love it too.
I love fall, even though it is the worst time of year for my allergies, because of the beautiful colors it brings. And I LOVE pumpkin pie.
I love pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks… it’s a serious weakness of mine.

Fall is my FAVORITE season! I love the cool, crisp air. I love getting to start layering clothes and getting bundled up in cute jackets and scarves. I love fire-pit fun with friends…smores included. π I love the colors of the leaves. I love the yummy Fall foods…especially pumpkin flavored treats/coffees/etc. I was born in the Fall, so my birthday is always a plus for the season. π But I would have to say that my favorite thing about the Fall is November and the focus on thankfulness leading up to Thanksgiving, and then getting together with your family for the holidays. Love this time of year! Just LOVE IT!!!
I love the beauty of fall. It amazes me that you can see four or five different colors on one tree! I’m so grateful for the artistry of our creator. The smells that go with fall are wonderful as well. The smell of damp fallen leaves, a pumpkin spice latter and the first pot of chili…ahhhh!
I just moved back to the northeast after 7 long years away. I’ve loved most every second of it! I have thoroughly enjoyed taking my puppy on walks and walking out of my way to step on the crunchy leaves. That, and taking pictures of said leaves and all things fall. It’s perfect being home.
The thing I love about fall is that it brings people together. With the cold temperatures comes snuggle times and chances to gather around a fireplace just chatting. I don’t get very many “fall” days but the brief ones I do make the long winter pleasant with their memories of jumping in leave piles and watching children chase after leaves. Fall is a time to commune.
My favorite part of Fall is Camping.
I love caramel apple cider & family trips to the pumpkin patch!
I love the feel of the cool breeze after a long hot summer. The colors of autumn and the smells of bake goods coming from the oven. But most of all I love that these things remind me of fond childhood memories.
I live in Albuquerque and hands down the best part of Fall is the Balloon Fiesta. There is nothing in the world like it.
I love taking walks in the woods and watching the leaves fall and hear them crunching under my feet. π
What do I love about fall? Crisp temps, crunchy leaves, fall boots, and the excuse to make yummy pumpkin spice everything (i have already made pumpkin waffles and homemade pumpkin cream cheese three times this season). Did I forget to mention pumpkin spice coffee? And ground turkey and pumpkin soup?
