DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.

It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.

Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.

Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:

But really, enough about us.

I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.

Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Do I have a faithful fall remnant?

This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).

I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:

The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:

Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.

Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.

Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:

This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).

Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.

Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.

Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?

So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.

We love you so much,

Melissa

Fall means to me caramel apples, pumpkins, and all sorts of wonderful squash. It also means lots of people who come to our Island to buy all these wonderful things and to visit the corn mazes. I love to see the changing colors of the leaves. Fall also means starting another Ladies bible study, which usually means a Beth Moore study. Thank you for being true to God’s Word.

Fall is my favorite season because it always reminds me of my beloved grandma who has been with The Lord 26 years. She was a wonderful storyteller and introduced the grand kids to Bible stories along with fairy tales and made-up stories. When I was pregnant, my grandma and I walked a mile every day down little dirt country roads in East Texas and watched the leaves change colors as my baby grew. It was a wonderful time as she told me stories of her youth and having her own six children. Yes, fall is full of special memories.

This is the first fall we weren’t in southwestern Pennsylvania. Due to my hubby’s job, we are living full-time in our RV traveling around Texas. I do miss God’s handiwork in the beautiful reds, oranges and yellows of the leaves. Not missing the chill in the air, though. By the way, I do love pumpkin flavored anything. πŸ™‚

Have Mercy…those are some sweet gifts! Happy to be among the faithful fall remnant! What is something I love about fall? Breaking out the sweaters and scarves, drinking caramel apple spice from Starbucks, but most of all watching the world around me transformed by God’s amazing paintbrush. I spend much of this season just mesmerized by its beauty.

    Grace & Peace,

What I will always love about the fall is knowing the warmth and love that the Lord has wrapped me in…I have experienced this blanket of Gods love and there is no fire that could be so warm on a cold fall night like the love of God….I have always had that seed of faith but in this wonderful season I know his love never fails….never gives up…never runs out on me ….I am saved by blood and the beauty and grace of Jesus Christ my Lord…I will always remember this spiritual awakening in this colorful season…. and just as the leaves change color and fall to a gentle breeze only to be blanketed in the pure white snow to come that will bring new blooms in the spring… so will I feel forever satisfied by God’s grace… and I will cherish this steadfast joy to know the word of the Lord every day…to live by it…to share it…to come before his presence in THANKSGIVING…I am filled with the Holy Spirit…and never knew what that felt like until now…I am so blessed to feel such a complete satisfaction and joy in the depths of my soul… I want to shout it out to any ear that will listen…there is an experience that you will never forget when you are found… and you UNDERSTAND that you were never really lost in the first place…that God has ALWAYS been there with you… the whole time…he knows every hair on your head…he can see into what you treasure….deliver you from yourself and from your foes…EVERYONE needs to feel this warmth and peace and know how easy everything can be when you walk the path God has placed before you …He wants you to go be victorious! Through the darkest of dark…he will be your light…I love you Fall…I love my God and I will love my neighbor like myself…I will love the law and live in the word ….I long for it…I am forever THANKFUL… my beautiful sweet sisters… Beth, your lessons have meant so much to me….thank you! thank you! thank you! ….Glory to God and have a wonderful…warm blessed…Fall season! May God bless us all.

I think God paints some of his most beautiful pictures in the fall. The glorious oranges, reds and browns of the fall foliage, a thin layer of white fog covering the field, the big bright orange pumpkins scattered about, the old barn off by itself and the sun peaking up over the hills first thing in the morning. Oh, it’s gorgeous!

The gorgeous colors of Fall alone make you want to praise God! Fall has always been my favorite season and Thanksgiving was my mom’s favorite Holiday with the family. My mom loved to cook for her family! Thanksgiving was one day she would go all out. I lost my mom 12 years ago in October, so since then many memories flood my heart of my so loved mom especially during this time. I miss her, but smile a lot during the Fall!!

    Dawn Rae says:

I love the fall colors. They remind me of what God is doing in all of us. He sees the end result, we only see the blob on the Potter’s wheel. Through our eyes for much of the time we only see green leaves, and then…the colors come through!!! With eyes of faith we can “Call those things into being those they were not!” Lord, I choose to believe You and know that you are not finished with me and one day my evergreen while come forth in orange bursts!!! Thank you for the reminders found in your creation!

  44. 3094
    Kelly C. says:

Well, I live in the Northwest so I can’t think of a thing about fall I DON’T love here!!! My favorite, though, has to be just driving along roads lined with trees. I have to remind myself to focus on the road because I tend to get a little too captivated with the scenery. It feels like you’ve stepped right into a movie when you’re driving through. So gorgeous. OH! And the best part is driving right under these lovely yellow trees we have when the wind blows and you get the leaves blowing right across your windshield. Sigh. Heavenly.

I love fall for football, cool weather, changing leaves and quiet times snuggled with blanket, Bible and coffee! Not getting a fall here in Cambodia but I’m living vicariously through family and friends!

  48. 3098

Wow!!It’s just amazing how God’s creation has so many beautiful colors. We are from Mississippi, but God has
relocated us to His calling this summer in Northeast TN.
(I had just finished the 3rd class group of James Mercy Triump) I knew God had big plans / change in my life the third time through it hit me like a brick. My husband and I are now houseparents at a children’s home. When we slow down a few paces we really see His creation. The Mountains are awesome as the leaves have just changed colors and are still falling off the trees. Then just this week snow on top of the Smokey Mountians that you could see for miles. Only God could make autumn this beautiful and this also once again lets us know He has everything under control. I Praise Him and thank Him.

    Janet Lescalleet says:

Hi, I’m Janet Lescalleet and I love the color of the leaves in the Fall. At peak they are stunning but it seems we should have that scene longer considering the length of the drab winter. Love you all at LPM!

    MK says:

    Ilove Autumn!!!

My heart swells every time I walk outside and the breeze sweeps over me. The cool, cloudy, melancholy of this weather that is still wistful and flirty at the same time.I love how the bold colors sink in deep, while the leaves give a call for play as they dance across the ground and through the air…mmmmmm…There’s just something about the way the reflection of the trees, cloaked in their Autumn attire, look in the mirror of a lake, and the the way weathered barns stand a little taller and little prouder on cool crisp days. I see Jesus in it all. My heart swells with affection for Him at the site of black eyed susans growing sporadically on the side of the road…..and those purple flowers that only bloom this time of year in the south! I’m not sure what they’re called. I feel Him…when the colder mornings cause me to pull my hands into the sleeves of my hoodie, and when the mountains sing their steady songs of peace and praise as the sun rises over them, and that big, orange harvest moon sets behind them. I love it! I love pumpkin scented everything, and stews bubbling on the stove. The smell of wood burning in the fire and how the smell of the smoke lingers in your hair and on your clothes. I love the scarves, sweaters, and boots. I love everything about this season!
