Ladies! I think a Friday afternoon deserves a celebration. We’ve almost made it through the entire work week! Woo hoo! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I love fall, I love the beautiful leaves and going to the mountains.
Tara Mangrum, Monett MO….I LOVE the beautiful trees, especially if they have green, orange, yellow and brown all mixed…its amazing!
Having a fire in the woodstove to take the chill out of the house; amazingly beautiful sunsets; the colors!; pulling out the long sweater coats and cowboy boots…
I love Fall weather, wearing jeans and sweaters, and most everything else about it,the smells and sights,unfortunately,in centtral Alberta we have snow covering the ground already!
Hi, this is Kimberly Moore. My favorite thing about Fall/Autumn is wearing boots, sweaters and drinking hot cocoa at football games. π Have a great day!
I love the cooler temps, changing leaves, the birthdays of both our sons in November and Thanksgiving.
Have a great fall.
Morgan McNeill~Love wearing my boots, pumpkin picking with my kids, and college football!
My favorite thing about fall is the beautiful foliage I am blessed to see everyday and sipping on a hot coffee or tea.
CANDLES! And BODY WASH! And LATTES! If they make it in a pumpkin scent I’ll buy it. I’m a fall marketer’s dream!
cooler weather and pumpkin spiced everything.
My name is Sarah Maney, and there is so much I love about fall…pumpkin spice lattes, cool weather, changing leaves, sweaters…
Cara Koski – I love that just before the deciduous forfeit their leaves, they play a final encore of fascinating color. Knowing their impending death, the leaves could simply shrivel up in surrender, but instead they burn out bright. I love all the metaphors they provide π
My favorite thing about fall…this is tough. I love fall so much that I planned my wedding around the change of leaves 19 years ago. I love the smell, the view, the chill. This year, though, is different. I have had a challenging season of being still after a foot surgery. This, my siestas, is diff-i-cult for me! However, my sweet 16 year old daughter, who was saving a gift card to Starbucks for a treat with a girlfriend, loaded me up in the car, drove downtown, parked right in front of Starbucks, helped me inside, and used her gift card to buy me my FIRST EVER Starbucks anything. We got a pumpkin spiced latte. HEAVEN on earth. My list of favorite fall things just grew with this sweet experience with my daughter.
What do I love about Fall?
First off, I am an absolute summer baby! Born in August, I love the sun, the beach, the days off! But there is sometime irresistible about this time of year. It’s a combination of things: the cool crisp breeze that sort of relaxes you and makes you appreciate the time, the changing colors of the leaves on trees that makes you want to take a nice long drive, or the stylish sweaters you get to wear this time of year! There’s something about Fall that makes you want to slow down to take it all in. I think that’s what I love the most. Slowing down, finding a place in nature to sit and watch and feel the breeze, the leaves, God’s creation.
Who am I?
Hi I am Danielle Luckett and I just happened to stumble onto this blog while looking for articles or meditations by Beth Moore. I’m going to add it to my Favorites. Thanks.
My favorite thing about fall is family time at the holidays. That means my precious babies, my grown girls and my grandsons, will be coming home.
Tracey Overton – the leaves changing colors – glorious beauty!
I live in Missouri, so of course I love the fall colors. I like all the seasons and even though fall is a reminder that winter is on the way, and I hate to be cold, I still really love the fall season. I love pumpkins and mums on the front porch, blooming mums in the flower beds, the cooler breezes and beautiful crisp days. I thank my God for all His creation. Isn’t He amazing?
I love God showing me the colors of the rainbow:
Red and Pink Sunsets, Red Foxes, Chili During Football Games;
Orange Harvest Moon, Pumpkins;
Yellow Aspen Leaves in the Mountains;
Green and White Starbucks Cups Filled with Salted Caramel Mocha;
Blue Jays, Azure Blue Skies;
Virginia Creeper Berries Amongst Bright Red Leaves;
Autumn Purple Ash Trees
I love the mountains here in Southeastern Kentucky when all the trees turn red, orange and yellow. Since the cooler tempatures I have been cooking more which I love to do. Fall is my favorite time of the year.
My fall favorite is picking apples at the orchard and then making all things apple-y!
yes fall is here! i made shepherds pie last night for the first time and not bad for the first time out the gate and not following a recipe!! and i think the leftovers are even better! love baking this time of year!
I love Fall! Especially the smells and the yummy food. My heart is happiest in the fall π
I love walking my dogs on cool, crisp days (instead of hot humid ones).
Letha Schrader. I love fall because I get to celebrate my wedding anniversary (25th), my birthday (43rd) & my spiritual birthday (22nd)!!!
I love the changing weather and vibrant leaves.
LOVE the beautiful colorful leaves…was afraid we would have no color after exceptional drought this summer…but it was amazing…God can be so creative π
I absolutely love fall! The change in leaves, the crunching on the ground as you walk outside. My favorite part is the crisp air that you breathe in. It’s so refreshing.
I love wearing fall clothes again- sweaters, boots, and scarves! Plus- I teach kindergarten, and I love taking my class outside and collecting leaves π
Kelly Snodgrass
I live in the mountains of East TN. By far the best thing about fall is the beauty of creation in this part of the world.
I love the snuggle time brought about in the fall!
I absolutely love to see how beautifully God paints the countryside in autumn. Especially the mountains in North Carolina. There is nothing like it. I also enjoy the smells of autumn. I will put a pot of water on the stove with cinnamon, cloves and a bay leaf and let it simmer to get that wonderful smell going in my home. Sometimes the very simple things in life make you feel so good and so very thankful!
I love the cold nights and snuggling down with a banket to read a book! I love College Football and soon to be College Basketball Season!
I love the tastes of autumn especialaly pumpkin spice lattes, butternut squash & apple soup, and apple pie.
My favorite things about fall are football and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks! I also love taking my kids for nature walks to pick up pretty leaves.
In fall, I put all the kids’ summer clothes away and take out their winter stuff. And then it feels like summer again and they put on those cute little sundresses again! And then it is fall and they wear the adorable sweaters with leaf appliques that only look good on grandmas and toddlers. And then it is hot and cold at the same time and they freak out and put on bathing suits, snow boots, and a hat with long tassles. That may seem like a big hassle, but to me it is really, really joyful.
Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins, brightly colored leaves, homemade soup; crisp, azure blue skies, a nip in the air and the scent of hard wood burning in the fireplace. Ahhhh!
Sally Stanfill – I love the fact that right now I am snuggled under a blanket about to read my book with a cup of Apple Cider! I love Fall!
Here in Murray, Ky., I love the crisp, cold mornings and warmer, sunny afternoons that are perfect for layering clothes.
The smell of wet leaves and a knowing in your heart that God himself is beginning a new season. I love the similarities that God uses in nature to teach us so much.
A few of my favorite things are pumpkin spice lattes, church Bible studies, and decorating our home. β₯
Fall – to me fall is heaven on earth! The beautiful colors that God paints the country side in the Midwest is amazing! The cool air skirting through our home, vegetable beef soup on the stove, an apple pie in the oven, Bible study, and working on a quilt project…what else can just sing FALL from the mountaintops?! Life slows down a little, family gathers around the bon fire on chilly evenings. Fall is my favorite time of the year!
I love the crisp fall air, New England foliage ( from CT ), breaking out my scarves, and butternut squash π
To start…my birthday and anniversary! So much to celebrate. The not-so-uncommon-here-in-canada Early snowfall, then, the next day it’s nice enough to finish doing all the outdoor clean-up that was put on hold for too long like closing up the pool, putting the garden hoses away, taking down the trampoline, cultivating the garden, etc!
My favorite thing about fall is glancing outside my living room window to see a beautiful sunset. It makes me drop whatever I’m doing and go outside for a clearer look. I’m learning to appreciate quietness, stillness and beauty instead of rushing around.
I absolutely love the chance to get together with family over Thanksgiving. Last year my sister, a chef, and I filmed a ridiculous cooking show of her preparing the meal. There are always so many fun memories, and lots of laughter.
Potential for cooler weather (I live in NOLA) and pumpkin anything
I love all the soups and stews that we make in the fall!!!
Jennifer Noble- I love the beautiful falll leaves!
Hi Girls! One of the reasons I love fall is because when I decorate our home with all of our “fall” things, it makes my 3 boys and hubby so happy. They walk around looking at all of the decorations and ask me when I’m making Pumpkin Cookies. π I am a blessed girl!
I love the color the leaves turn on the trees here in Georgia during the fall. This year they seem to be exceptionally beautiful.
