(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
The Word in my NIV Bible has taught, comforted, challenged, and encouraged me through many circumstances. It has taken me through Beth Moore studies, too! I do enjoy using my Bible app on my phone to read other versions, but my NIV is used and marked up the most! God is good!! 🙂
My favorite Bible is the Amplified Study Bible! I absolutely LOVE,LOVE it! It really does expand, with great detail, the meaning of the wording used. I also love the author’s personal notes to further my understanding of subjects covered. It is great!
My favourite is the New International Version. I’ve used it for all of my life as a believer and love it..but truth be told, I sure could use a new bible:)
My favorite bible is an NIV given to me by my husband with a zippered black case. I don’t have a “study bible” yet, but definitely feel the need for one. Prayers to Beth and company in australia.
Donise Hall
I have my really cheap NIV Study Bible that was the first one I purchased….it has highlighting and scribbling from when my 12 year old was little so I am not sure I would give it up. My 2nd favorite is a little KJ pocket version with a zipper all the way around it. It has my grandmother’s name on the front and it went with her in her purse to church for decades.
Pattie Reitz–happy to be writing this from my warm home in Alaska 🙂
I am still partial to my NIV Women’s Devotional Bible with all my notes in it, but I’m enjoying reading the NLT Women’s Study Bible with commentary by Jill Briscoe this year.
Donna Buice – My favorite Bible is my New American Standard Bible from1982. It’s the Bible that I sat under my 90 year old mentor with – as a new Christian. Three years, once a week, and 100’s of verses, prayers, tears and joy-sharing later, my life will never be the same.
Yes, I am due for a new Bible!
Alicia Payne-I love my Crossway ESV Study Bible!
thanks for chance to win a NEw bible. my bible is soft covered, it is held together with silver duct tape. Pages are curling together in the front. Some pages are stuck together, it has every colour of the rainblow highlighter. Notes galore! it’s mine wrinkled, well used loved!
My name is Karin Wizer. Currently, my favorite version of the bible is the Message. It fits the season of life I am.
I love my NLT Life Application Study Bible!!!
My name is Tina Robison. My favorite Bible is the English Standard Version. I have used it for most of my studies with Beth.
Pamela Puchovich.
My favorite Bible is my PINK Women’s Devotional Bible NIV my very best friend Beth Delong gave me in August, 1991 with the verse Romans 8:28 And we know in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose.
My favorite Bible is the Life Application NIV Bible. I have used it for all my studies I have done of Beth’s so it is marked with notes taken during those studies. I give my Bibles away even if they are marked up I never just retire them I just pass them on.It is said that Bibles that are falling apart usually belong to people who are not!!!Glad to hear they made it safely and will continue prayers. Love, Betty Marschner
My favorite Bible is my Good News Bible that my Grandfather gave on my High School graduation (1977). It is duct taped. He signed his name with the deaf sign of “I Love You”. Both he & my grandmother were deaf and had the most awesome faith life.
Elizabeth Kesselring
I have a KJV Bible that was given to me as a young teenager (growing up in a KJV-only church). That Bible saw me through puberty, Bible College and our first ministry position. I had it rebound and it would fall open to wonderful, well-prayed passages (like Psalm 139 – a great one for a teen girl struggling with self-esteem). Sadly, God has hidden it away somewhere, requiring me to fall in love with other versions – but that one was my first love.
Joe Payne-I would love to win this for my wife. I really like the ESV.
Lindsay Winton
The ESV Study Bible is my favorite right now.
Favorite bible? NIV Study Bible…falling apart, YES, but its the pages not the cover, so duct tape won’t help. I’ll miss the underlines, but would love this new one.
I am still using the Living Bible that my mother gave to me when I was a new bride (40 years ago!) Would love to upgrade – but have not been able to give up the “notes and ‘oh mys’ I have accumulated over the years in this one!
Brenda Spring
Courtney Alcott – I love my Women of Faith Study Biblev-NIV!!!
My favorite Bible is my “Open Bible” New King James Version.
Tammy Skipper here, my favorite Bible is the one my grandmother passed on to my dad which has tons of family names written all through it…I think of generations before me knowing the importance of God’s Word and pray it continues for a thousand generations to come!
Michele Bone
I love the NIV for church and reading but refer to other translations for study. Lately, I’ve been interested in NET since Beth refers to it often in the James Bible study.
Kristina Foster, Gardner, KS
I’ve had several favorites. One in particular given to me by my grandparents.
Heidi White
I use a grown up Bible now, but my childhood favorite was The Adventure Bible, which is the Bible in comic book form & it was rad.
Rosalie Castleberry
My Favorite Bible is the one I had about 52 years ago—and still have in a drawer—that we ordered from the Baptist Book Store (remember way before Lifeway) and that I used when I was a “Junior” for the yearly sword drills. I always won at church but never won at the association level. What great practice for Beth’s studies!!!!!
Deborah Walker — although I love the newer translations, my heart still loves the poetry of the KJV that I grew up with (not a Precious Moments, but still white with my name engraved on it). I still have verses memorized in KJV that I’ve known for almost 40 years. Thanks for the fond memories. 🙂
I definitely don’t need another Bible. I have too many so they can’t wear out. Right now I am loving my new purple HCSB study Bible and the Bible apps. Recently available for the Nook! But I love those Precious Moments Bibles too! I found one at Half Price Books at Christmas with little devotions in it and was so excited!
My favorite bible is the NIIV study bible. I received it at my high school graduation and we have seen many a triumph and trial together. It is so marked up and worn out that I had to buy a cover for it 🙂 God is good and I have learned so much about him with that study bible…good times. BUT, I, too, have been thinking that it’s time to expand my study experience and get a new study bible…must be that season for many of us.
Maybe if I win this new Study Bible with the QR codes, my husband will break down and let me get a smartphone!!!!
My favorite Bible is the NIV study Bible. My name is Natalie McGary
I have a couple of Women’s study bibles that I have had forever. I love reading what godly women share about a particular scripture or topic!
Judy Hand
I loved The Open Bible that I studied from for years until it fell apart. Then NIV was great and this year I am using the new ESV my Bible Study ladies gave me.
Janet Alboszta
My favorite Bible is a bubble gum pink $5 gift Bible I bought three years ago at Lifeway. The pages feel like a coloring book, and my bright colored pens don’t bleed through! It is NKJV , and is tucked into my black shiny cover case with a beautiful silver cross covered in bling. I feeling a Jesus rock star when I carry it.
All material description aside, and as much as I love my Bible, the Word of God has breathed new life into me, saved me from the depths of hell, salvaged a broken marriage, healed my physical body, and wrapped the arms of God around my child who was lost and under severe attack for his life. Every time I open it, I feel peace and love jump off of the marked up worn pages and manifest Gods promises right before my eyes. I can live without my bling and pink Bible, but the Word is life to my soul!
Yay! Jusr noticed the other day that my NIV study bible binding is breaking down and may need to be retired. My all time favorite bible is a paperback, The Prayer Bible, NLT, Tyndale. It has prayers written next to many of the passages.
Blessings,
Sandy Taylor
I my one and only bible is a NIV given to me from my dear friends called the LaLa’s.
We were all transplants in LA and formed a bible study group, my first, and our first study was
Daniel in 2007. I love my bible but I am ready to explore a new one.
Luck to all
Rhondelle
NIV Study Bible that belonged to a family member is my favorite!
Though I love the KJV my husband gave me before we were married 27 years ago for its beautiful wording and the NASB I used in college for its accuracy, I cut my spiritual baby teeth on the Living Bible. I know it’s paraphrased, but when I just want to be comforted by God’s Word, I pull out the copy I received for Christmas in 1974. It was the last gift I received from my Granddaddy who died on December 26th, so it is valuable to me in more ways than one.
My fav is the NLT Study Bible. It was the first Bible I received from my husband while attending Teen Challenge. I really liked the study notes and the way the scriptures were easy to understand for being a new Christian..Gods word is great any way I can get it, I am always in the book store looking through the different versions..I am reminded as I’m writing this of my very first bible. It was Pink, yes Pink..I thought it was so cool..some years after I had stopped using it and had lomg since forgotten it, I opened the trunk to my Corsica and lo and behold, there it was. I still have it along with every bible I have ever owned. Good memories.
My name is Stephanie Albritton and I love my NIV study Bible! This is such a neat giveaway!
My name is Courtney Hill. I had this beautiful blue leather Bible that I loved & it got lost. 🙁 I searched high and low, but I comfort myself that someone must have needed one and found it. I have an NIV that I use now, but I still miss that blue one!
Praying for the spirit of our lord to fall intensely on Beth, Priscilla and everyone at the conference
My favorite bible is a devotional bible I received through my mops group about 10 years ago. It is dog eared, highlighted, and very much used!! It’s been through at least 3 Beth Moore bible studies. I would love to try a new one:)
My favorite is my Mom’s Bible… I’ve never looked inside it, but the wear on the outside from her touch says so much…
I’ve been using my NISV2000 from Precept Ministries and had the priviledge of her signing it three years ago. Kay Arthur’s inductive study has opened the word for me along with the Holy Spirit’s guidance! I top it off with Beth Moore’s enthusiasm for the Word. It can’t get much better!
Yanira Peña de Esquivel …PLEASE PICK ME!!!!!!!!! It will come all the way to San Salvador, El Salvador!!! (of course you can send it to an US address…. see???? I have faith I will get it that I already thought on how to get it!!!!!!!!!)
My contact name is Yany Pena… anyways…. I just get excited to be able to participate!!
May the Lord use our SIESTAs in Australia!! May the Lord bless you guys on Spring Break… and may the Lord bless me in a really hot San Salvador!!!!
P.S… I only have Spanish versions… I used to have an English/Spanish KJV to help me out interpreting for pastors or missionaries.
My favorite Bible is the one my sweet grandmother bought for me!
Wow, that’s hard. I’ve had so many through the years at every stage of life. Most recently, I use The NIV Study Bible. I enjoy it immensely.
Prayers going up for Beth & Amanda!
love,
ann
Tracy Langford
My favorite Bible is my Life Application Study Bible – NLT. It has commentaries under the Scriptures. I bought this Bible when God brought me back to Him and it made the Scriptures come alive. However, I’m also very attached to my You Version Bible App on my Ipod, which goes everywhere with me! Can’t get enough!
