(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My love is my NIV Study Bible my husband gave me.
Hi Beth! Love being a Siesta! My name is Lisa Groves and I would love to win your bible! The features in this bible are amazing! My all time favorite bible has got to be The First Step Bible from Gold n Honey books! I have 3 kids that have all lovingly worn down these pages as their 1st introduction to Jesus! Love love the memories that precious old bible has in my heart!
Joyfully…Lisa

Howdy from Trae Kendrick in Crawford, Texas! My favorite study Bible is actually the Olive Tree app on my iPad or iPhone. I love how I have all the different translations and commentaries at my fingertips. So excited y’all are doing this give-away. I know that Bible will truly bless someone.
My name is Katie Duckett.
My favorite Bible is my NIV study Bible, we have been through a lot together!!!
I carry a KJV Study Bible, but love using biblegateway.com to look up various versions to compare.
My favorite bible is the NIV Life Application Bible. I love it because I have used it with a pen and highliter for years and it is MARKED up. I also have to admit to loving The Message. I like it because sometimes I think you just have to hear the truth in your own language. 😉
My husband will laugh and roll his eyes when I tell him I did this. He calls me Bible poor. I have given away as many as I own though because if you tell me you don’t have one I am going to give you one. I have a few though that I am saving to hand down to my two sons, my oldest leaves for Afghanistan in September, and to my 2 neices and nephew. Of course they have their own but these have all my notes, dates, prayers, sayings, study notes thru out them. I am in the HCSB study Bible right now. I have really enjoyed this translation.
I am still using my NKJV Open Bible Study Bible I got when first saved in March of 1987. It too is falling apart. I am almost finished the Mercy Triumphs study and have been using the Holman Bible for it for the first time. I bought at Goodwill.
I would love a new Bible to use for study.
Thanks,
Joan
My “current” favorite is my NIV Life Application Study Bible, but I have been loving the HCSB lately.
My name is Lisa Riley. I love so many bibles that it is hard to choose just one. I’m really enjoying You Version for iPhone at the moment.
Ashlee Hicks
My favorite Bible is The Quest Bible!
My favorite is my NIV Life Application Bible. It’s been taped and retaped but my life story.
Oh how I pray that I could win this….however I also pray that someone more worthy would win also. I’m torn. I have been wanting a new Bible for several years because I am still using the same KING JAMES VERSION that my grandma bought my husband and I for our wedding 14 years ago. did you hear that?? KING.JAMES. I NEED A NEW BIBLE!!! Bibles are expensive and I have spent plenty on buying them for my kids and husband but never gave it up for myself. So my favorite Bible???? I have no idea. It is NOT my KING JAMES even though it is marked up plenty and is dear to me. oh this momma needs a fresh WORD! thank you LPM!! Karen Lipford

My favorite is the NIV (1984 version) Student Bible in paperback. It was the 1st Bible I bought myself. Of course that was back in 1992, but it revolutionized my life as a teenager. God has a way of doing that with His word. Lol
Cindy Bultema
My favorite Bible is an NIV Life Application Bible. It was one of my first Bibles, and I still use it the most!
My name is Calista Baker. My favorite Bible is my Inductive Study Bible. It has so many cross-references and a decent concordance in the back. Great for getting ready for a class or personal study.
HCSB version
The Bible I just received for our 26th wedding Anniversary is the Jesus Calling Bible.
Kim Barefoot
One of my favorite Bibles is a NKJV Women of Faith Bible, because my best friend gave it to me many years agoa and it is one of the first Bibles I started writing in/making notes in and it is FULL of notes, memories and I love to look back through it.
Oh my gosh that Bible is awesome and there are not words enough for me to explain how much I need a new one!! The Bible that my sweet husband, son and daughter gave to me in 1995 is literally and I mean literally, did I say “literally” falling apart from the binding to the pages (particularly James which we just finished in my Tuesday study to the ink running together on pages that I’ve marked up so many times that I forgot what I was thinking! Only a Siesta would understand that!! LOL!
Please please consider this Siesta Bible study sister in Christ and lover of (Jesus of course!) and your wonderful mother who is down under! Here are some kisses to sweeten the deal!! xoxooxoxoxoxoooxo
Blessings and Prayers coming your way,
Hillary Humberson
Oops! I forgot to mention that I love all translations….not just being a “sanguine” here but rather find all of the translations so helpful when I research The Word! This new version looks positively awesome and would be so cool to take along on an upcoming dream trip to the Holy Land we’ll be taking this Spring! One last thought, I’m so hoping to have the opportunity to teach a class on “How To Love Your Bible” if approved by the Women’s Ministry department of our church. What joy that would be to hold this original!

My favorite bible is The Message.. I received it as a Christmas Gift and it was my very fist bible.. I loved it so much because it came from a sweet friend, who is no longer a part of my journey or walk with the Lord, but was very dear to my heart and helped me so much in my spirtitual life. But all good things must come to an end and our friendship was sweet, but it was time to move on towards our different paths. That bible will always hold a special place in my heart.
My favorite bible
Is the Living bivle because my precious Momma gave it to me for

I read often at college.
I’ve been praying for Beth and Amanda. I like The Message Bible, but usually use the NIV.
My favorite bible is the Amplified for study, the New Living Translation for reading. My favorite bible teacher is Beth Moore. May God bless this bible to whoever is fortunate enough to win it.
I love my NIV Thompson Chain. The pages are falling out and the cover is torn and falling off.
I have had periodic favorites (I am fickle). My current is the Message bible. Just love the way it says things!
Since I am a tech geek this one looks super fun!
I am Inez Barnes
I love my Amplified Bible. It was falling apart and one of my daughters in law had it rebound. I am using it for the James study and will have to add an extra page in the back. It is so wordy 🙂
Tammy Gutierrez ~ My favorite Bible is the KeyWord Study Bible, New American Standard Version.
My favorite bible is the ESV Study Bible.
My name is Ernestine S. Bonicelli. I have submitted a comment without the name so I don’t know if this one will register. My favorite bible is Amplified for study.
Joyce Watson
Diva Bible Study Queen (ha, Ha)
My favorite Bible is The Woman’s Study Bible New King James Version_Thomas Nelson Publishers 1995. It is worn out.
I save all my Holman Sunday School lesson books, but I would LOVE to have a Bible published by them. It would sure be a blessing! Thank you for sharing with us.
Praying for Beth and her ministry! God bless you!

NASB study Bible
I love my Women of Faith study bible:)
I love both The Message and my NIV bible. The NIV is probably my favorite because it is small enough to fit in my purse but not too small to read:)
When I close my eyes, I can picture where on the page certain passages are found… I love my old NIV study Bible given to me by my parents 23 years ago! Thanks for the fun of a giveaway 🙂
My favorite Bible is NIV Ryrie Study Bible and is falling apart. I would love to win this!
My favorits Bible is the ONLY Bible I’ve ever had…since 1985. It’s very fragile (pages almost falling out) and they don’t print it anymore, and I can’t replace it. I love it, so I stick with the phrase my childhood pastor said, and I wrote in the back cover…”a Bible that’s falling apart probably belongs to someone who isn’t.”
April Garcia
I really like the NIV study Bible. I used to use only the KJV, but since I’ve started doing the Beth Moore Bible Studies, I bought an NIV. I use it most of the time now and have begun memorizing from it, also.
Right now, my favorite is my ESV Study Bible! So much extra helpful info!
My favorite Bible is my childhood KJV Bible, with my maiden name printed in gold on the cracked white cover. It’s my favorite because I know where all my favorite verses are in that Bible! I’d love to have a new “high tech” Bible with Beth’s name on it! Jamie Wyatt
My favorite bible is my wide margin KJV. It allows me to create a very personal study bible and like you mine is quickly falling apart but it is well used and well loved.
My favorite Bible is my NIV/Message Parallel Bible. I do still have my Precious Moments Bible too!
Chris Heinrich…..favorite bible…The NIV Rainbow Study Bible…Thank you, so love this blog!!
Tracy Harwood-my favorite bible is the NLT because it’s the one I used to begin my scripture memory verses
Sandy Ramirez. I truly love the feel of my old black leather, Life Application Bible. (NIV) The notes, scribbles and thoughts are such a fun way to learn, re-learn and remember the precious things the Lord has taught me through the years. I’m quite sure our “siesta mamma”. Has a few special insights and quotes written in there as well. My favorite memory however, is that of receiving my first KJV. “Zipper” Bible in VBS when I was 6 for memorizing Ps 23, Ps 100 The Beatitudes and the Ten Commandments all in 5 days. Did you hear that Siestas? Oh for a young mind again!!! Isn’t God good to let us learn early so it can stick with us when we’re old?
My favorite Bible is also the NIV Life Application Study Bible which I now have to get it large print. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Katrinna Durbin
The NIV Key Word Study Bible is my favorite!
