(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
I have a woman’s study bible my husband bought me a couple of years ago for our anniversary. The cover is coming off of it also. I have a new international that has the shipping tape holding it together.
Well I could most certainly use a new bible. My Mom gave me the one I have now almost 20 years ago!
My favorite bible is the NIV.
My favorite Bible is my NIV Study Bible, but I also love my kids’ Day by Day Chronological Bible.
My favorite bible is the NIV.
Thansk for the fun!
Awesome, love Bibles!! lol Especially free ones!! I am currently into the ESV of the Bible. I have the study Bible on my mac, my phone and in hardback. It is so good!
Thank you for this possibility!

I love my ole NIV. Do you remember the Parallel Bible? It weighed about 50 lbs and was every bit of 10,000 pages if I recall.
Mine is my NIV Study Bible that I named Felix. I found it in the clearance section in Lifeway. I had the NIV Study Bible in hardcover but wanted the leather cover one, so glad this one didn’t work out for Felix 🙂
I do have a sentimental one from one I was a kid that I recently gave to my daughter. It is a footprints in the sand one and has tabs for finding the books of the bible. Every Bible should have those tabs 🙂
What a fun giveaway!
my favorite bible is the St. Josepe edition.
Gotta love us catholics
Tammie Worsham – The New American Standard Inductive Study Bible. The best!
Elayne Ruthart – my favorite Bible is my John MacArthur ESV Study Bible.
Jennifer Prichard
My favorite bible is The Reformation Study Bible, ESV. My amazing father-in-law gave it to me!
Life Application Niv…love it, although needing duct tape too! Enjoy your journey and thanks for the lovely, uplifting updates.
What a prize to win! What a blessing!
My favorite Bible was the one I cried in, held over my heart, hugged in the darkness of the night when I lost my husband. It was a Nkjv, many promises underlined, many heart wrenching words written in margins. You know what I’m talkin about. Well, I accidentally threw it in the recycle bin with the newspaper and realized it as the recycle man was going down the hill! I ran after him, caught up with him and begged him to let me climb in to get it, meanwhile crying the whole time. Well he said no I could not climb in. I cried to God and said, ” Lord but all the promises you gave me in there” He said, “I have new promises for you to claim” O how I loved that! Yes, new promises to reclaim wile building the ruins of my life with Him by my side. Love Him so!

My favorite is the NKJV Spirit-Filled. Love it so much that it’s falling apart, & the book of Genesis is missing.
Favorite Bible, Life Application NIV
I love my life application niv study bible.
My favorite and most dearest to my heart Bible is the NKJV Spirit Filled Life Bible…I have notes, highlighted verses, and it is literally falling apart…It’s been there thru thick and thin with me! Lots of memories!
My *new* favorite Bible is my six month old baby girl’s! She has the “Jesus Storybook Bible” and it has been a wonderful way to be reminded of all that Jesus has done and who he is in a new way! We love reading it to her each morning 🙂
Dawn Bouchard
My favorite study Bible is The Amplified Bible. I love the depth of understanding that comes from the editors having gone back to the original languages – I almost always know what a speaker’s comments will be when they say, ‘In the Hebrew/Greek this means…’ because it’s right there in my Bible:)
I have had my Bible over 30 years, my husband had it rebound for me once, and I confess to having to use duct tape now to keep the cover in place. But we have been through so much together and it is what has kept me ‘together’…just can’t part with it yet 🙂
My name is Jesica Pruitt. I have a small, cute pink NIV bible that has seen many Beth Moore studies. I usually carry it in my purse! As I type this, I noticed my 2 year old daughter decorated the edges of the bible pages with ketchup at dinner. 🙁
What a blessing of a prize to win!
My favorite Bible is one my mother left behind when she died suddenly. It was gifted to her by a wonderful woman in the church generations of my family grew up in. I do not have a study Bible. It would be a blessing to receive such a gift.
Thank you for all you do in the name of Jesus.

(I wrote a previous comment but submitted it before I finished. Delete that one if you wish, please.)
Penny McMahan-I love my KJ study bible but, it’s starting to fall apart too!!
Lori Behrens – My favorite is my Ryrie Study Bible NASB with all my notes (dated & with speaker’s names) from high school youth camps (1980’s), etc. Talk about legacy! Many memories!
Karin Blackburn. My favourite Bible is a leather bound NIV. On the outside it looks so similar to the giveaway Bible that I’m sure they are meant to be friends ;-).
Hi! My favorite Bible is the ESV one I bought two months ago because I have been using it to memorize James.

I’m most comfortable with my NIV bible, but I do love NAS when I want to see the verse said a little more “as is” 😉
I too have a difficult time putting my “old” Bible aside, but a new one is like a new opportunity for new insights! I have used several translations and the NIV is my favorite.
Amy Pontius–Jesus Storybook Bible. We read it to our kids at night and I’m nearly in tears at the end of each story. It pulls the Old and New Testament together and uses every single story to point back to Jesus.
I am Joy Klassen, from Manitoba Canada. My favorite Bible is one is a very old NIV translation. It has been marked and lovingly used. It needs to be rebound, but it was given to me by my mom and dad a very long time ago! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this new Bible!
Uhh… That should have been “NASB” …CELL PHONES THESE DAYS!!! 😉
My favorite Bible is the Women’s Study Bible (NKJV).
My favorite Bible is my Daylight Devotional Bible that I have carried to our church’s Children’s Camp for the past 21 years!!! It is a paper back that was easy to carry and easily identified in the chaos(fun) of 60+ 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. I have a smile on my face, just remembering the great times with so many of our precious children..many are now adults & counselors themselves!!
Thanks!!!! Praying for Beth and Amanda “downunder”

My favorite Bible at this moment is The NET Bible. Started using it over a year ago and really love it! I find it to be accurate and very descriptive. It is actually so great that it took the place of my beloved NASB. :o)
Congratulations in advance to whoever wins this beautiful Bible!
I really like the Thompson Chain Reference Bible. This Bible was a gift my junior year in highschool. I really started topography Gods word through this Bible. I don’t use it anymore because it started tearing.
Colette Pellegrino
My most favorite Bible is the Women of Faith Study Bible!! My other favorite is The Beginners Bible that I loved to read to my kids when they were little!! The illustrations are so cute and my son made some of his own illustrations in it too!! I love it!!!
But of course I would absolutely love a new Bible to add to my collection!!! 🙂
Thanks Lindsee!!
Rachel Lotz~My favorite bible is a wee nasb version. I worked with YWAM for many years and was able to pack lightly on all my travels with it. Now I am a stay at home mama of two and an loving it! Needless to say my bible has been with me through some very incredible memories.. But it is running on its last legs:)
Hilary Sticht – after joining in the SSMTC through 2011, I found I ended up choosing to memorize most of my verses in amplified. I don’t know what strikes me about amplified…the verses were harder to memorize because they were, in turn, longer…but they seemed to have meant more to me somehow. For that reason – my current favorite bible is my Amplified bible. I love sitting in church some days and comparing it to other translations – just to see the differences and dig deeper into the meaning of a specific verse.
To love….not topograhpy. Don’t know how that happened 🙂
My NIV study Bible, my husband gave it to me for Christmas years ago, I can’t imagine my life without it!
My favorite study Bible is the NLT – but my most sentimental is the King James that my brother gave me many years ago. I love to go back and read scripture that I have highlighted over the years. I hope that someday my grandchildren will open it to find God’s word that had special meaning to me!
Elise Copenhefer
My favorite Bible is a toss up between the NIV Bible my parents got me for my birthday while I was at college sophomore year or my NIV study Bible. I just love the little study notes! Alothough I do like one of my newer ones that has little stories inside about Christian history in the United States.
Britiney Slaughter – My favorite is my kids’ Children’s Story Bible. It beautifully shows how every story in the Bible points to Christ. We all love it!! Thanks so much for a chance to win.
My favorite Bible is the New King James. I love it! Another one I am REALLY enjoying is The Message Bible… Love it!
My favorite is my Grandmother’s Swedish Bible, my Grandpa was a pastor and used to preach his sermons in Swedish for the immigrants. I am Scandinavian and love passing on the Swedish language and heritage to my 4 children. My husband is also a pastor, so my other favorite Bible is the old tattered one he used thru seminary and in his early years as a minister. The word of God is such a blessing!
Katie Blandford
My favorites are the Amplified, NIV and NKJV. I use all three when I’m studying. I have a little blue NKJV that I carry around with me but I miss having a Study Bible (I currently go between my little blue Bible and the YouVersion app).
Sheila Modine
I love my NIV study Bible!
Krista Reed
I still use a NKJV study Bible my mom bought me when I was 12!
