Hi, Siestas! I think I’ve got a fun one! I saw this idea in one of those complimentary airline magazines and showed it to Michelle (who was sitting right next to me) with great enthusiasm and said, “I’m going to do this with the Siestas!” to which she dryly said, “Great, Ma’am.” (I adore her. To say that she has whiplash after going from Washington D.C. to Living Proof Ministries is the understatement of the year. She really doesn’t want to talk a lot about mascara and would not be caught stone-cold-dead in a pair of Capri pants. And never in her entire life has she had to keep a small bottle of anointing oil in her brief case…just in case her boss calls for it. She has also never before had a boss request a photo-shopped picture of herself on a Spiderman costume. A post for another time.)
I’m sorry. I have a little ADD this morning. Back to my idea. It’s not very original but I think it will be a blast. As we’re getting to know one another here in Siestaville, let’s hit the fast forward button. What are 10 things – right off the top of your head – that we would only know about you if we knew you really well? 10 random things ranging anywhere on your personal map that make you a tad distinctive? Or just plain weird? Think quickly. Don’t go for deep. Go for quirky. Don’t try to put them in any kind of order and don’t make them long. Just start typing. I’ll go first to give you the idea.
1. I have an addiction to Ziploc bags.
2. I hate wet socks worse than almost anything.
3. I was the only baby out of 5 born to my mother with no anesthesia. She never forgot it.
4. I wore braces for 12 years. I still often sleep in a retainer.
5. I am a read-aholic. I read over others’ shoulders. I walk the aisle on airplanes to see what others are reading. I read what’s laying on people’s desks during meetings while they think I’m listening.
6. I love Black music.
7. I need slices of cakes and pies to be cut neatly with a sharp knife and not gouged out with a fork. (Nearly just got a shiver at the thought.)
8. My children call me “Doodle.” I no longer remember why. Sometimes just “The Doods.”
9. I am a very slow driver.
10. I’m a go-girl. I love the rush of taking off in an airplane. I smile almost every time.

1. I love being a mom to my little girl of 7 months.
2. I have to use my own pen. I am very picky about them.
3. I wish to leave California ASAP!!
4. I have high expectations for myself and other people (which tends to get me into trouble sometimes)
5. I think that investing in people is very important.
6. I like my cheeseburgers plain (just the meat, cheese and bun) ever since I was a kid.
7. I love to be creative
8. I have a cleaner office than I do my house.
9. I love pictures and the memories/stories that go along with them.
10. I love the way my daughter claps. Too cute!

9. Anything Donna Dewberry does (painting or sewing), I want to try it. (No, I haven't just in case you were wondering.)
10. My initials were SSS before I got married.
1. I eat like a man and have a passion for ribs, drumsticks, buffalo wings, any kind of eat-with-your-hands meat-on-the-bone food.
2. Food again. I LOVE raw oysters.
3. A well organized and beautiful spreadsheet is like a work of art.
4. People expect me to have an Asian accent and are pretty surprised when they hear a southern drawl.
5. Chick flicks? No thanks. Horror films? Absolutely not. Comedies, classics and indies? Yes, please!
6. You haven't really had green beans until you've cooked them with a ham hock. (Have you figured out that I like food?)
7. Getting ready in the morning is such a chore. My 4 year old daughter thinks so too.
8. YUM. Starbuck's Punmpkin Spice Latte is truly one of God's gifts (to my muffin top).
9. I LOVE to meet new people.
10. Puppy breath is the best.
1. I have to organize everything- home and work to think clearly.
2. I love to read mystery, medical, or law enforcement novels.
3. My favorite shows are NCIS-Los Angeles, Trauma, and The Good Wife.
4. I hate to iron!!

6. I love roses and surprises from my boyfriend.

1. I have small ears. Unusually small ears. It's weird.
2. I am making a quiche for dinner, nothing like breakfast for dinner, that's what I say!
3. My son, Owen (16 months) has beautiful auburn hair, just like his mamma (or should I say, like his mamma had, now I get it out of a bottle, but don't tell anyone)
4. I love coffee, the smell, taste, the way it drips out of my coffee maker, the anticipation of it all….ah….yummy
5. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and my husband taught me to snowboard when I was 24.
6. I love a good cardio workout, but don't ask me to lift weights
7. I love watching movies with my husband, funny ones.
8. I am not a huge fan of doing laundry or putting my clothes away
9. I could take a nap everyday if time allowed

5. Cover girl lash blast is my current addiction.

1. I take baths not showers. I just can't stand the very first spray of water that comes out of a shower, whether it is hot OR cold.
2. I could get lost in a paper sack EVEN with a GPS.

4. I twist my hair and leave "hair monsters" all over the house. This drives my husband crazy.
5. I came face to face with a black bear. The only thing separating us was an unlocked/barely closed door and a small window. I scared the bear so much, he tinkled on the porch as he ran away.
6. I'd rather DIE than ride or roller coaster or ANY scary ride.
7. I kissed my husband to be for the first time in Times Square on New Year's!
8. For me Mexican food is the nectar of the gods.
9. My little schnoodle Gigi is the sunshine of my life.
10. Even though I am in my late 40's, I still don't feel all grown up. Wonder when that feeling comes?
1. I love magazines…before children, I read them cover to cover.
2. My 3 year old daughter has acquired my obsession with ziploc baggies. Everything is better when stored in a plastic baggie, everything.

6. I was married at 34, had my first baby at 35, my second at 36, and will have my third at 38.

8. I would love to raise my kids on the mission field.
9. I want to start a compost pile, but am kind of scared…
10. I lost a baby last August and am now expecting a baby this August…I am still struggling to reconcile that.
1. I once drove off from the gas pump with the hose still attached.
2. I drove a riding mower 12 miles to church to cut the grass (took me two hours).
3 I ran over my water meter (last Tuesday) and broke my water pipes.
4. I wore two different shoes to a wedding. (The wedding was an hour away so no time to go home and change.)
5. I used a chainsaw to cut carpet and got the fibers all tangled up in the blades. (This was yesterday.)
6. I hung my daughter's curtains upside down and thought the little flaps on the bottom were decorative fringes. (also yesterday.)
7. I pee in my pants when I laugh too hard.
8. I have to touch a certain place on my two mile walk or it drives me crazy.
9. I have five children that have my strange sense of humor.
10. I have a husband that stays with me in spite of all the above.
1. I keep a diary, several actually, daily, prayer and a thankful.
2. I think peanut butter is WAY better than chocolate(combined together is acceptable)
3. I have NEVER, not one time, gone through a drive thru and gotten something for just myself.
4. Went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 46(25th Anniversary)
5. LOVE to read!
6. Read the Bible through over 20 times before I was 20 years old.(I was a BIG Pit Dweller with a rough background but God was working on me).

LOL – I HAVE to clarify number 8. Man, I did it again. That's another quirk I have. I mean't I have to step on a certain line in the road. Man, I can really put my foot in my mouth. Thank God for grace and mercy.
1. I love to sing. My husband bought me a kareoke machine several years ago for Christmas and I thoroughly entertained myself for two hours that day. 🙂
2. I, too, have a shoe fetish.
3. I'm very crafty..I love to scrapbook or make crafts.
4. I despise Peanut butter. Always have, always will.
5. I knew I was going to marry my husband on our first date. We've been married 14 years, to the Glory of God.

1. I added highlights to my hair for the first time last week. That’s the first of any colour treatment – ever.
2. I am a fast driver; my husband doesn’t speed… cause for contention, but I don’t have a lot to argue with –the law is the law! :S
3. I (we) planned a wedding in three months… met, dated, got engaged and marred all within 12 months. Whirlwind romance but REAL! God is SO good. 🙂
4. I grew up a tomboy, spent much of my childhood running around in bare feet, climbing trees, building forts, and so on… my husband grew up much more proper – barely knows what it is like to walk without socks and shoes on!! Just shakes his head at me… 😀
5. I grew up with the ocean as my backyard (after the big beautiful green grassy back yard that ended at a cliff!)… spent most days of the summer at the beach. I love scenery of any kind, but there is NOTHING like the beach to me. And I miss it so incredibly much and can’t imagine my kids (future hopefully) not growing up near the ocean and beach.
6. My favorite place to read tends to be the washroom. I think it’s the lack of interruptions. Plus as a kid – being “in the washroom” was an excuse for procrastination! I think it carried over into adulthood…
7. My feet need to breath at night… rarely INSIDE the blankets. I get claustrophobic if my feet are stuck or tangled in a blanket. My husband finds this entertaining.
8. I’m the oldest child and the only NOT named after ANYONE (or thing)… sometimes it irrationally feels like I have no roots because of this.
9. I sometimes long for a nice hot bath… like I won’t survive if I don’t have it… I get it all ready, get in, and… can only handle it for about 5 minutes!
10. I only heard of Beth Moore this past December… how much I have missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely a groupie now. 🙂

1. I wasn't 'supposed' to be in special education. I wanted to teach English. God had a plan. 😉 23 years later, I like His idea better. Although I still think 'professional shopper' would have been the best match.
2. I used to have really bad hair by girl standards when I was growing up. It always had a mind of its own, so when people give me a little snide, "Your hair is always perfect." I think, "You have NO idea, girl."
3. One of the greatest regrets of my life is not being given a beautfiul singing voice. So I make up for it by using a lot of words…just without music.
4. One of my biggest pet peeves – people who leave their blinker on after it has fulfilled its purpose.
5. I have had 12 cars/vehicles since getting my license 29 years ago. Three years is the longest I've ever had one.
6. I'm completely handicraft disabled. My sisters won't even let me start the projects. They just say, "Here, Cindy, we'll do yours for you." Saves them time later fixing what I've messed up.

oh i wanted to leave this great betty crocker tip for siesta mama and her fettish for neatly cut pies and cakes. if you're like me, you can't wait til the cake or, in my case, brownies to be cool before cutting – use a plastic knife so it won't rip the delicacy into pieces. although to me, it'll eat just same in a jumbled mess on my plate than a neat square/triangle, but to each her own! thought i'd share…hope it helps.

Okay. I love this post! It is so fun to learn things about people, even if you don't know them…makes you feel like you're not crazy when you read someone else HATES wet socks!
I have to ask about this, though. What do you mean by "Black" music? I mean, I think I can make some assumptions but why call it "Black" music instead of whatever else you could mean? Hip hop? Rap? Choir-style Gospel music? Country? Classical? Rock? Techno? Who knows because there are so many talented, Black artists in every one of these genres and more.
1. I believe every fast food restaurant should serve soda's in styrofoam cups with crushed ice. (ex: SONIC!!!)
2. A "pepsi only" restaurant will lose my business. (I am wholely devoted to diet coke!)
3. I use both hands to put on my mascara: right hand, right eye, left hand, left eye.
4. Vacant/empty office buildings & stores and swimming pools without water give me the creeps.
5. I love crunching ice, but hate hearing other people do it.
6. I love to read.
7. I am an AVID bargain hunter.
8. Purses, shoes and pajamas make me happy.

1.I am obsessive about my checkbook balancing.. I will look for a penny if it's missing..
2.I love to take communion with a common cup.. there is something so intimate and special about that..
3.I NEVER throw out leftovers.. If I have a 1/2 a cup of mashed potatoes left..it goes in the frig..and I very rarely have anything spoil in my refrigerator..those potatoes will get eaten !!
4.I love to hear the peepers sing in the Spring..and I write it on my calendar every year.. I do the same thing with the hummingbirds..
5. If we can "volunteer" for any jobs in heaven.. I want to take care of the cats..I am absolutely crazy about cats and am convinced there will be cats in heaven.. I think it would be so much fun to take care of Aslan..

8.I love to go somewhere I have never been.. It doesn't have to be a glamorous place..just someplace new to me.
9.My favorite foods are chocolate,Maryland Blue Crabs,and coffee.
10.On the obsessive /compulsive side of things I have been known..on more than one occasion.. to take an item that someone has left in the wrong place ..and put it back where it belongs..
1. I lived so far back in the woods of Arkansas growing up, my parents did not have a telephone until after I married and left home.
2. Related to first, my job was to climb to the roof of the house every Saturday night to twist the TV antenna so we could see Lawrence Welk.
3. I have never owned a pair of white pants—don’t feel grown-up enough yet—I am 59.
4. My husband and I drove all over the western US in a 1969 VW Mini-Camper—the original Hippie-Mobile.
5. I have 12 different bird feeders and love to watch the birds stopping by our yard.
6. Depending on current diet status, I can pull a pair of black pants out of the closet in any size from 10 to 18.
7. I need to see out of my windows at home and never close curtains—thankfully our house is in the middle of the woods.
8. I have enough Bibles to outfit a small church–just need to spend more time actually reading them.
9. I have one son who made the comment once while in the hospital, "You know, Mom, this makes 8 different bones I have broken."
10. I love the Southeastern PA countryside where we currently live with the beautiful farms, Amish communities and my wonderful church where we are currently working on the Beth Moore Psalms of Ascent.
1. I like the smell of sharpened colored pencils and brand new crayons.
2. I like rubber ducks.
3. I always have barefeet in the summer.
4. I like climbing trees.
5. I cannot, no matter how hard I try, eat straight tomatoes.
6. Sometimes I have conversations with people entirely in my head.
7. I bite my lip all of the time when I am thinking about something.

9. I like to pack everything in a backpack that I will need for the week, even if I am not going anywhere.
10. I also have an obsession with brand new white socks and tennis shoes.
1. Hair on the floor of the pool locker room give me the willy's!
2. I like tuna casserole.
3. I like old stuff, ie furniture, accessories etc. They have "staying power."
4. My middle initial is M, but it stands for Marie~!
5. Which was my grandmother's middle name. I'm just glad they didn't give me her first name – Bertha!
6. My garage resembled something out of "Hoarders"…
7. Until my wonderful son in law helped me clean it last Saturday!!
8. I love leading women's Bible study!
9. I answered the door this morning before a shower and scared the gardener half to death!!
10. I like to vacuum!
I'm late posting… but better late than never, right?
1.I have asthma and have had all my life.
2. It's always been my secret desire to be a runner (just started from the couch to the 5K)
3. I can't go to bed with dishes in the sink… can't do it.
4. I don't leave the house in the morning without my bed being made and my living room straightened.
5. My husband calls me Esther.. my name is Angie… (go figure)
6. I ride my own Harley.. and I LOVE IT!
7. I have to brush my teeth first thing in the morning… even before I pee!
8. I think that Dr. Pepper is the sweet nectar of life, and I'm addicted… not good!
9. My friends call me to make them pitchers of sweet tea when they are having company!
10. I talk out loud to my Lord while exercising… walking in particular… I do get some funny looks!

Yesterday was too busy so I will share today.
1. I am addicted to Diet Coke.
2. I buy capri pants for my long pants.
3. I love to read.
4. I love new gadgets.
5. I am a germ freak (probably because I work with elementary kids.)
6. My height and weight do not match my drivers license (I'm not telling which if off more! But after losing a lot of weight I went in to get a new license just to change my weight because it was way to close to my actual weight.)
7. Love the smell of coffee but can't hadle the taste.
8. Once hung from the monkey bars each and every day during the summer vacation to stretch my body, only to fall and crush all the forced growth back in!
9. I don't eat candy (unless i is chocolate. I figure it just isn't worth the caloric intake).
10. I can't see within 3 feet of the front of my car due to my lack of height.
1. I can not clean out the tub drain – way too gross!
2. In 1968 I ran on the winning 440 small fry relay team in SC that broke the record and it is still in the record books.
3. I love watching explosions in movies.
4. I pray about literally everything – let your imagination go!
5. I won't answer the telephone when Survivor is on TV.
6. I play a handheld game every night before going to sleep.
7. I take my pillow with me everywhere.
