Ladies! I think a Friday afternoon deserves a celebration. We’ve almost made it through the entire work week! Woo hoo! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a red Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa
(Lindsee not pictured here ONLY because she was out of the office when we snapped this photo)
I love the smell of fall and the beautiful leaves. I love pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie. Fall is just one of the times when God shows how awesome He is.
I love the the changing seasons, falling back an hour, the coziness of the shorter days, the smells of fall that trigger sweet memories.
And as a special PS to Melissa! I am learning so much by what you have added to the James study. Really blessed by your faithfulness! <3
I Love the beautiful colors of fall here in Michigan. I also appreciate the cooler brisk air. Most of all I appreciate Womens Bible Study…the school year offers so much support from other women.

I love the Summer! Haha, seriously, in Indiana we get beautiful fall leaves and sunsets that make you stop in your tracks. I love baking, baking and baking some more in these cooler days.
Your ministry Miss Beth has changed my life forever. Thank you for the opportunity to stop wishing for warm sun and reflect on the beautiful foliage around me.
One of my favorite things about fall is having fires. My husband finds the best wood in the forest and makes the weekend to fill the wood shed. We have a wonderful fireplace, and a fire pit outside. When we sit around the fire there is no tv, computer, phone or other electronic distractions. That gives way to stories, and just good ole fellowship. Oh yes, we usually have a supply of graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey chocolate bars! And snuggling with the hubby to stay warm, well it just doesn’t get much better! Um, it’s Friday and I can hardly wait for the weekend! God bless you all. Btw, this is the first time I have commented on a blog and it was fun!
Hello Beth and Melissa,
I love fall because in North Carolina fall brings refreshingly cooler weather and brilliant color. Fall is a season when God’s universe makes me aware of His presence. Thank you for your ministry which has transformed my life and helped me heal my heart.
Love,
Jan
I love fall in Florida because of the reprieve from the heat and humidity. I also so love FLORIDA football. GO GATORS!
In San Leon Texas down by the bay I love the harvest moon and it’s reflection on the water, the freshness in the air after a season of heat (literally & figuratively), the feeling of the cooler breeze off the bay is a reminder of the next season of focus on my Jesus. It’s a reminder of how thankful I am for Him.
Thanks to you Beth-cant quite put into words how you’ve touched my life over and over through the years. Thanks for being the vessel again and again.
College Football. It sums up fall in the South.
I am the director of children’s ministries at my church and my favorite thing about fall is the children. The beginning of the school year for church is like January for diets. more people seems to come and try to start the year off on the right foot! I love, love, love how many children come to church and Sunday school and I love sharing the stories of the bible with them. The cool air, football- all this helps me sink into the moment, but those precious faces excited about school and fall holidays and an open heart for our Lord really make the season!
I love Fall because I get to wear my favorite sweaters again!
Fall is my favorite season. I love the smell of pumpkin candles, pumpkin roll baking in the oven, drinking a pumpkin spice frappe from Starbucks & love seeing the changing of the leaves. Isn’t God amazing with all the sights & sounds He has made!!
I love Fall. I went to college at ASU in Boone and it was then that Fall became my favorite season. The beautiful trees were almost too much to take in. And now…many years and two toddler boys later I still love the trees of Fall but for an added reason. My boys LIVE for leaf piles. My man gets out his blower and makes giant piles in our yard. Watching them run with complete abandon toward those leaves… And then seeing their faces shine with pure joy is one of the highlights of my year!!!!
I love fall because I love to wear sweaters and boots! I also love fall colors and taking walks and crunching through leaves. I love fall because it always puts me in the mood to cook and bake! I love the anticipation of the holiday season – I have 5 kids, so I start Christmas shopping early!
Hmmm…..fall is such a great time of the year, but I especially love how the Lord God knew us so well that after the long busy days of summer He know we would need to slow down to rest and restore. So, say NO to something and sleep a little longer! With much love, Michelle
I love Fall as we take our children and now GRANDchildren to Gatlinburg for several days of resting, exploring and shopping and did I mention shopping! Watching my grandchildren see and do things for the first time has to be they God feels about us! There is nothing more precious.:)
F irst frost

Thank you for this reminder to be thankful for His glorious creation.
Football. Stew. Crisp air. Colorful trees. Fuzzy blankets. Crackling fire. Sweatshirts. Thanksgiving.
Living in the south… I love the fall because it brings relief from the heat and humidity (lots of other reasons, too)!
This Fall season is particularly special for our family as we have just moved from the overcrowded landscape of city life to a picturesque and peaceful 10 acre property. It’s the first autumn in our new location and every day unveils new surprises for us to enjoy. There are still SO many incomplete projects in my new home yet I’m surprisingly OK with the inconvenience….the view from my new windows makes my heart sing. God is so good!!!
I love the crispness of Fall. It signals my soul that celebrations followed by rest are on the way! I got married in October…just celebrated 30 years!
Fall is my favorite. I enjoy taking pictures of my kids playing in a pile of leaves or catching leaves falling out of the trees. Taking pictures of the Fall colors or going for a drive in search of beautiful colors. The great smell of fall while hiking in the mountains !
Jean, Carlisle PA
First, I love the beautiful color combinations. Only God could put so many colors together and make them work!
Second, I love how the air feels so clean & crisp.
Fall is my favorite season.
I love Fall because it reminds me of harvest time on the farm and I’m a Fall baby. My mom would tell me the story of when I was born and how she left all the indoor and outdoor lights on at our house to signal to my dad, who was out harvesting, that it was time to come home and take her to the hospital for my birth. I never get tired of her re-telling that story.
I love running in the fall. Yep you read it right…. running. Getting out on a long run when you can see your breath, feel the crispness of the air, all the while taking in all the beautiful colors that come with the season, and of course listening to my favorite praise music! Then coming home to the smells of a pumpkin candles and a bowl of chili. Seriously, who doesn’t just LOVE fall??
I love everything about fall! I love decorating with fall colors and leaves dancing everywhere along with the glorious smell that fall brings! I love the crisp air and the smell of warm fall candle scents permeating my home!
I love seeing the combines out in the fields harvesting the corn and soybeans that God has so richly blessed!!
September and October were absolutely beautiful at the local pumpkin farm I am blessed to work at. How can you not absolutely admire God’s handiwork in the midst of picking and washing:) all the varieties of pumpkins, squash, & gourds? I am continually amazed by how He blesses us with such variety: goosebump pumpkin looks like it actually has goosebumps on it, peanut pumpkin looks like it has peanut shells on its peach colored skin, Cinderalla pumpkin looks like Cinderella’s coach, and my personal favorite is the pie pumpkin :). These are just a few examples of pumpkins, not to mention squash and gourd varieties. God blesses us sooo many ways.
It is hard to pick just one thing about fall but I will say the smell of the fallen leaves as you kick through them while walking.
I love everything about fall – brisk mornings to wear my favorite sweaters, cool evenings in front of the fire, end of daylight savings time to enjoy long evenings with my best friend and my husband of almost 30 years, wonderful drives through the beautiful woods of east Texas that have been painted by the hand of our Creator. Blessings to you, my friend Beth.
The lack of humidity has to be high on my list, but the fall makes me think of apples: plump, juicy, snap–when–you–bite–’em apples! I live in Florida, but when possible, we go up to North Georgia and pick apples in the fall. I love anything with apples: cake, pie, cookies, butter, jelly, candles!
I love fall for the display of God’s glory in the changing leaves and cool, fresh air. I love starting a new Bible Study with my Siesta’s and really digging into the Word. I love walking on the beach with my wonderful husband of 40 years and our two crazy Australian Shepherds. I love watching the sunrise over the bay, and the colors reflected in the Gulf. Sometimes we are even surprised by dolphins. God is good all the time.
I love sweaters.
I love the crisp cool air sitting under a blanket with a cup of hot cider ☕
I love all things fall! Right now, I’m thinking about how I love sweaters and think that a day snuggled into one of my favorite sweaters is happiness!
This is so fun and I would love to win any of these beautiful prizes! Thank you!
What I love about Fall: God’s creation, so very beautiful. The colors are dynamic. I also love comfort food and the Fall brings it on! I could go on and on so I will stop there!
Praying for all those still affected by Hurricane Sandy and there are many.
I love fall. I love the beautiful colors , the changing weather and the holidays. One of my favorite things about fall is that it gives me an excuse to cuddle with my husband. We have been married for 36 years.
My favorite part if this time of the year, of course is the beautiful colors, and the way too cool clouds! Lord, you are way cool!!
Sherry Leicht.
I love fall because it is the time of year we tailgate for FOOTBALL! We take our RV on Friday night and meet our friends in the parking lot and visit and eat all weekend. We leave Sunday midmorning and listen to Gospel-Grass on the radio as we drive home, singing along with the old hymns from our childhoods.
What a juicy giveaway!!!! So much fun stuff. I LOVE fall.. here in Asheville, North Carolina the hills often literally look on fire with color. October is my fav month of the year and I am by no means over “all things pumpkin!” I particularly love pulling out all my fall/winter clothes, boots and colorful socks/tights, scarves, pea coats. And I love daily fires in our woodstove, which is how we heat our home. So cozy!
I love the cooler air, changing colors, and the beginning of a string of holidays to celebrate with friends and family.
I adore fall because the changing of the leaves reminds me of how big and powerful our God is to control even the coordination of colors in our world, how small I am in comparison, and how he so abundantly puts His love on display for us even when we choose not to see it 🙂
Happy Fall Ya’ll!
In Tennessee, we get the lovely sight and smell of tobacco barns. I am not a smoker, it is just a lovely time of nostalgia.
I love the good mood the cooler weather seems to inspire in everyone.
I love EVERYTHING about fall!!! The cool, crisp air. Hot cider. Pumpkin spice lattes. Changing leaves. Crunchy leaves underfoot. Best of all – both of my sweet girls were born in the fall!
The beautiful leaves and trees illustrate God’s glory and splendor. I didn’t think the trees would be so good since our summer was so dry, but it was absolutely stunning here. Thank you for your ministry. You have changed my life!!!
Blessings,
Chris
I love fall because of the cooler, crisp weather in Oklahoma City.
I love the cooler weather, watching the leaves change color & getting to make soup.
I love the colors of fall, the coolness in the air, and the hint of wood smoke from a fireplace.
