Hey, Darling Things!
I am under the books, studying for our Living Proof Live in Baltimore, MD this weekend. (And if you’re going, I can’t wait to see you and to see what God has a mind to show us. The rest of you please pray for us and we will be the far better for your intercession.) I came to a point in my preparation that I needed to look up a map and my heart did this ridiculous little jump. Why? Because I was about to reach for my Bible atlas…and I love my Bible atlas. I could honestly use it for a coffee table book and thumb through it every afternoon while I drink hot tea and have a Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie. (Of course, I’m hardly ever at my coffee table in the afternoon, nor do I often get to just sit and drink hot tea and eat cookies, but IF I DID, and if I had neither daughter to amuse me, I’d do all of those things with my Bible atlas.) I don’t know how to explain it. I just love it.
Here it is. I’m smiling as I look at it.
I love things like maps and charts. They bring some organization to the chaotic mind of BTSPTB.

the smell of hand sanitizer. Not the fruity kind, but the original kind.
I know this is random, but I love Winter sunsets. I live in Ohio and from December on into the Spring we have the most beautiful shades of blue and purple to take over the western sky during the evening. The Lord always catches my attention with them while I’m making dinner and they just make me stop and smile and thank Him for the day.
I know this is random, but I love working in my yard. There is something about digging in the dirt that renews my soul.
…..to do lists;). And the only random thing I love more than that is accomplishing and crossing things off the to do list;)!
I love the sticky pages of a new Bible and the sound of the pages turning in a really old well-used Bible.
I know it’s random but I love the smell of Coppertone sunscreen lotion. Also I love the smell of Palmolive dish detergent (the original green one) – I refuse to use any other kind.

I know this is random, but I love to walk through a university campus. I’ve never quite understood why. It give me such a feeling of history and nostalgia!
I love charts and maps too and have a very over-active mind. I wonder if it is the organization of chaos? Never thought of that before but it makes sense!
His Princess Love Letters from Your King by Sheri Rose Shepherd. The LORD has used this little book multiple times to speak directly to my wounded heart. It has been a thrill and an ultimate adventure and experience with our King. It has brought me hope and encouragement b/c HIS TRUTHS are given in such an intimate way. My husband Bo has been reading a Bible Atlas all week and loves it too. I love Pepperidge Farm Milano (double chocolate) too! Great little pleasures of life.

I know this is random, but I love to skim pools of leaves and other floating yuck!
I love being in my kitchen at 9:00 am. The cool way the light filters in, the time I get to spend organizing or just looking out the window to see if there are any creatures by my bird feeder. The promise of a day at home set before me, caring for this earthly castle God has given me.
As a working girl, gone most mornings by 7:45 and busy weekends on top of it, I hardly ever get to see my kitchen at 9:00 am.
I love getting a new lipstick and having it be just the right color….(sorry – not a very spiritual answer!)

I know this is random, but I absolutely love my research Bible dictionaries. I love to look through them when someone has a question in Bible study! 🙂
I absolutely love being with my grown up daughter, son and his wife. They make me laugh constantly. My daughter claims I will laugh at anything my son says. She’s right. They can recite lines from hundreds of movies and that blows my frail mind. 🙂 How blessed am I to have kids that are my favorite people to be with?? (my husband is at the top of the list…)
I know this is random, but I LOVE school supplies! And, recently, I have fallen in love with the kitchen supply isle at Wal-mart: timers, strainers, rolling pins, etc.
I know this is random, but I love having a new sharp knife…when I DO get to cook, there’s nothing like a new sharp knife…and new nail polish, never been used. (not at the same time mind you)…and all my children sleeping under my roof.(which happens about as often as a new knife and I get to paint my toenails…)

Hmmmm, how should I say this…..I love…..African American children! I’ve always wanted one! But alas, I am white, and so is my husband. Darn it. It is a very random love, I know. And I know not where this fixation originates.
I stop and stare at them in public places. They make me smile and stare some more.
And I’ll see you in Baltimore! Leading in a pack of seven women. We are praying for you, Beth! Praying for the whole team! Our 15 passenger van broke down yesterday and the mechanic can’t promise it will be done by Friday. But we will hitchhike if we have to! Seriously excited to get there. Transportation issues will not deter us!
I know this is so random but I love coloring. Still. I’m 50. Recently I was at a friend’s house and all of the adults ended up sitting around the kitchen table coloring with the 4 year old. We had the best talk about everything. It was so much fun.
I love a brand new box of 64 crayons. I love to look at them, group them in color families, try each one out, and ultimately create something beautiful. My kids know not to use Mama’s crayons, but once they are “broken in” I am willing to share. : ) Silly, but true!
I know this so random but I love to see people performing random acts of kindness. Whether it’s giving someone a nice smile or paying for something for the person behind you in line. I think that is so truly loving and heartwarming. And although it exist, I think there needs to be more of it. So do something nice for someone today just because.
I know this is random but I love it when my husband comes home from grocery shopping with a box of Good N Plenty licorice candy. No one else in my family like licorice.
Today, RANDOM IS that I love all things pink…and that it occurred to me yesterday that my mom hated it…and that 18 years after her death it occurred to me that I buried her in a pink dress and pink fury slippers! I laughed and laughed and laughed my head off. I got to call her best friend and laugh with her, ’cause Mom is gonna’ kill me when I get to Glory! Random that I thought of it after all these years and I love that my God would give me such a giggle this week over Mom. Silly and random.
This is so random but I love being on my own and watching God at work in my life. I took a step of faith in February and God is faithful and so good. I love the opportunities He is already working on but I don’t see them yet! Praise God for what He is going to do.

I know this is random, but I LOVE going to the office supply store and getting new stuff. Reminds me of going back to school as a kid. I love getting my new calendar for the coming year, pulling out a fresh pad of legal size yellow paper, using my label maker, and having a good supply of pens. I’m a nurse, so I have very strong opinions about the best pen for charting. My coworkers and I are extremely possessive of our current “favorite pen.” Set me loose in a STAPLES or OFFICE DEPOT and I’m one happy girl!

This is so random but I SOOOOO enjoy the very first sip of coffee each morning.
I know this is so random, but I love trying a new recipe, especially if it has ingredients I’ve never used before.
I was reading this and giggling and how much I can relate to geeking over something like an atlas (sounds and looks wonderful). I am a Southerner living in NY so I LOVE to be randomly nice to people (and giggle when they freak out, bless their hearts). I love that my parents do email, I love to pick out my children’s clothes before they go to bed (they are little, they still let me…nothing makes me sigh in happiness like a cute little outfit for a cute little bot) and I love to have my boring basic office-y kinds of things in pink. Pink pen, pink notebook, pink post-its…I’m one of the lone females in my technology team so if I’m going to be the girl..let’s be the GIRL. And I love the sale rack and getting to wear something really cute that cost $3 and being happy that my dress cost less than my breakfast at work. Love that. Love it.

I know this is random, but I absolutely love new notebooks. Of any size or shape. And for some unexplainable reason I can never, ever write on the first page. I always start on the 2nd or 3rd page. (I know – rather whackadoodle.)
I LOVE it when God blesses you in an unexpected way. He does something you know is from Him that only He could think up.
I know this is random but I love to “read” the dictionary! I love to look through all the words we never use and find new meanings to the words we use everyday. It absolutely facinates me, that a word has been there so many years and I have never heard it before!
I know this is random but I love…the occasional time when I can stay up really late, 3 or 4am, reading, usually to finish a book.
I love hugging people (I know it’s not too random) but I have been known to impulsively do it to people who don’t want hugs! Pretty much everyone I know now likes getting my hugs. 🙂

OK, so I just thought of another one…a new bag of M&M’s, eating them one at a time, sucking the outer coating off each one. MMMM
I know this is random, but I love reading old hymnals. The ones covered with dust that have been sitting under a stack of books in a the back of an old run-down antique store in the middle of a little tiny town in Georgia — somewhere. Somehow, picking it up and thumbing through the pages and reading those words of old that drew people to worship God allows me to connect with that time and those people and their faith and reliance on God. A time without so much convenience and instant gratification. A time when Praying for Rain wasn’t just a tagline or a Christian band — but a reality that guided their lives and molded their faith. I love those old hymnals.
But that’s just my strange and random thing…
I am a Baltimore girl and I cannot tell you how excited I am about this weekend!!!! This momma of three between 5 and 1 could really use a night out and A WORD FROM GOD!! As far as randomness goes, well right now I love random weekends out of the house.
Can I throw in a prayer request for a babysitter?? With the nearest Grandma living ten hours away and my husband having to work last minute I am left looking for a sitter.
I love it when my boys, ages 19, 21 & 22, do things together of their own volition and share a nice time of camaraderie. None of that bickering I endured when they were younger!
I love the sound my tea kettle makes when the water comes to a boil. Just something about that sound!
I have about a dozen coloring books and a HUGE box of crayons and I love to color whenever I can. I just found two Christmas coloring books at a junk store and had a great time Saturday afternoon coloring the most beautiful Christmas pages!
I love the smell of puppy breath and the smell of a freshly bathed and lotioned up baby and the smell of new books (especially the ones with slick pages!)and I love how a child will show you the world with such a fresh perspective. I love popcorn cereal and I also love a peanut butter and sweet pickle sandwich.
I know this is so random but I love driving through the mountains of North Carolina on a crisp, Fall morning and watching the sun rise above the colorful trees. It’s just so peaceful.
there’s something quite euphoric about the combination of my Bible, a cup of coffee, and sweats at 5:00 am on my favorite corner of the couch perfectly postioned so that i can see out the east window to watch the sunrise.
I know this is so random but I love to read the Obituaries each morning. I don’t read a lot of the newspaper anymore but I must read the obits and make sure I’m not in there.
I know this is random, but I LOVE nothing more then to crawl into bed on clean crisp cotton sheets and read a book. YES, a book!!! I want to feel the book and smell the paper, it just doesn’t get much better than that.

Late morning and just having my coffee so couldn’t think of what I love that is different – but my friend LOVES the smell of skunk!! If there is one dead on the road she will run over it again and then sit with her daughter in the garage and enjoy the smell for hours!!! Cracks me up!!
