I know this is so random but I love…

Hey, Darling Things!

I am under the books, studying for our Living Proof Live in Baltimore, MD this weekend. (And if you’re going, I can’t wait to see you and to see what God has a mind to show us. The rest of you please pray for us and we will be the far better for your intercession.) I came to a point in my preparation that I needed to look up a map and my heart did this ridiculous little jump. Why? Because I was about to reach for my Bible atlas…and I love my Bible atlas. I could honestly use it for a coffee table book and thumb through it every afternoon while I drink hot tea and have a Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie. (Of course, I’m hardly ever at my coffee table in the afternoon, nor do I often get to just sit and drink hot tea and eat cookies, but IF I DID, and if I had neither daughter to amuse me, I’d do all of those things with my Bible atlas.) I don’t know how to explain it. I just love it.

Here it is. I’m smiling as I look at it.

I love things like maps and charts. They bring some organization to the chaotic mind of BTSPTB.

Random, huh? Well, that’s when I thought of you. I thought it would be fun to hear you complete this sentence today:

I know this is so random but I love…

What, Girlfriend? What random, not-hyper-serious thing do you love that maybe a ton of people wouldn’t necessarily love with you? Do tell!

I know this so random but I love RIBBON! I love to look at, buy it, use it. I love the designs, the colors, the feel of it. All of it. I use it to decorate cards, wrap presents, tie on anything and everything. Don’t even get me started on holiday ribbon that comes out only once a year.

Me, TOO! Clappity Clap! I have a ribbon skirt (not MADE of ribbon, but adorned — all the way around, all the way down — it’s really cute, though I know it sounds ‘iffy’!)
      LOVE the ribbon!

Cuddling with my four year old at night and talking about what he would like to tell God thank you for. I hear some suprising things. We were blessed with this last baby right before I turned 40. His siblings ages are 25, 17 & 15. I take the time to enjoy the quiet moments with this one and I am loving it.

OK one more please….I know this is random but I love the smell of new tires. I started to like it when I was pregnant with my first and I still love it. Inhaling deep!

Can’t believe there are two of you! There’s another Siesta that loves the smell of tires and I almost can’t walk in a tire store. Blech. πŸ™‚ To each his own.

I am a sniffer too so was glad to see so many siestas mention smell. I love the smell of my pup’s paws. They kind of smell like popcorn, (not after they’ve been out rolling in the who knows what mind you…but just on a snuggley afternoon) and I love the smell of libraries…used to make my kids stop and sniff and they thought I was batty!

THAT IS SO FUNNY that you wrote that! My mom used to have this funny little sing-song she would do with our dogs: “Doggie got POPCORN-feet! Doggie got POPCORN-feet!” So random… πŸ™‚

This is so random, but I love clever wit that makes me laugh out loud. For instance, this morning I found a funny ‘foto’ posted on a friend’s facebook that pictured an adorable tiny dacschund puppy laying across a real hotdog bun with the caption “Please spay or neuter your pets! This is a tragic example of an in-bread dog!”

…the smell of drywall mixed with concrete. LOL. I love it! That smell when you walk into a brand new garage or home depot (home depot smells like it). I wish they made a home depot candle. I’d burn it! :D. Isn’t it funny how His made us so unique? I bet he chuckled when creating my sense of smell…”and I shall gift Mary with a keen sense for the home depot…teeheehee”

I love paper products — crazy, but at least it’s cheap! You would not believe all the paper craft supplies (which I still haven’t had time to start) and notecards (which I even moved cross country) I have — and since books are made out of paper…….. (I am not a Kindle woman.)

I know this is so random, and maybe weird to some, but I have mild obsession with clouds. I always notice them. I can’t tell you how many times I have been in my car and applauded God for the beauty he put before me on that particular day. Even weirder, perhaps, I have oodles of pictures of them too.

I asked god if I can paint the sky each day when I get Home. Clouds are so beautiful!!

      Mona says:

I wonder if we’re related? When my sister and I go for walks, we always bring our cameras, and there are always beautiful clouds to take pictures of. Of course, we notice bugs, birds, and one trip a gazillion type of mushrooms, but I digress. If you search for clouds in Biblegateway, you get three pages of verse listings! One of my favorites, Mark 13:26 – “At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.”

    Barb Cressy says:

So random but I love taking pictures of “things” such as windows, old bulidings, the sun, animals, nature. I am fairly new to taking photos. I rarely take them of people but when I do I dont take the tradional smile you are on camera ones. I like to take pics of people “naturally”~side views, having conversations, looking at something else. God has created some awesome things, and man has through the knowledge He has given them. I look at the world differently I suppose.

      Joyce Watson says:

I like taking pictures too. It is fun and interesting to see unusual things you ordinarily might not notice. Old windows are really great and doors of buildings. I like flowers, birds, mountains etc. You are right it makes you look at the world differently. Painting also does.

I love taking pictures too, I forget my arthritis pain when I am photographing, snapping memories. Then later that evening I love to load them into my computer and fix them, highlighting, cropping etc. to make them as good as I can…It feels me with joy

My Random (one of): I love having a STACK of books on my bed stand – cookbooks, biographies, travel guides, political commentaries, theological tomes. I know I’ll never read the half of them (well, maybe one day) but I love having them sit there next to me while I sleep. It comforts me to know I’m surrounded by so many words. (smile)

I know this is random, but I love free samples! They make my day! Today I got a free sample of Starbucks’ pumpkin spice frappucino while I was in Kroger. It was great!

I know this is random, but I love walking into my home and being greeted by the smell of bleach! It tricks me into thinking the house is clean! My kids have learned this and sometimes pour bleach into the sink just to make me THINK the house is clean!

Lee Ann! That is hilarious. I was just telling them at lunch that I love the smell of bleach. Though no one has ever poured it into the sink to make me think they JUST cleaned the house. So funny!

I know this is so random but I love…

not using and umbrella when it rains. Maybe because I have natural curly hair and it doesn’t bother me if I get it wet. I feel refreshed as the rain pours down on this black curly head!

I know it’s random, but I love boxes – plain, fancy, wood, cardboard, whatever – anything with a lid. Hatboxes are the best! I have a hard time throwing out any kind of box I get in the mail; I hide them under and behind the furniture.

Also, I know it’s random, but I love office supplies…mostly paper (notebooks, notepads, journals, scrapbook paper). I’m particularly fond of Post-its, but rarely use them because I don’t want to ever not have any.

  33. 133

Pretty much anything made smaller! ha ha
I opened the Land o’ Lakes new butter sticks just last night while fixing supper and saw that they are now wrapped in half sizes- they look like a mini stick of butter! So cute! I know- weird..and random : )

    Jen says:

So random, but I love learning Jewish blessings and prayers, sometimes even learning them in Hebrew. I have no connection to Judaism except being Christian. I sometimes just get tickled that God understands what I’m saying when I’m talking to Him in a different language. There are so many little blessings for all different circumstances and for whatever reason I just love learning them πŸ™‚

My, this could really get us going couldn’t it? So here goes…. I love the feeling of Friday afternoon and the expectation of the weekend. I know this is random but I love… BIBLES! I probably have 15 of them. I love different versions, sizes, different bindings, red letter, commentary, large print, parallel… My favorite section in the Christian book store are the aisles with the Bibles. I love how they smell. If I get a leather cover, I get my name imprinted on it. Sometimes, when I want a new Bible… and I know I don’t really “need” one, I give away one that I already own… then I don’t feel so guilty. Is there such a thing as having too many Bibles? πŸ™‚

I know this is random, but I love it that my spice rack is alphabetized. I love knowing that Bay leaves come after Basil and Parsley comes after Oregano. I cook and can A LOT and it’s just so helpful to have them all in order when I need them and don’t waste time trying to find them. The only other thing alphabetized in my house are the books on my bookshelf (by author).
