Hey, Darling Things!
I am under the books, studying for our Living Proof Live in Baltimore, MD this weekend. (And if you’re going, I can’t wait to see you and to see what God has a mind to show us. The rest of you please pray for us and we will be the far better for your intercession.) I came to a point in my preparation that I needed to look up a map and my heart did this ridiculous little jump. Why? Because I was about to reach for my Bible atlas…and I love my Bible atlas. I could honestly use it for a coffee table book and thumb through it every afternoon while I drink hot tea and have a Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie. (Of course, I’m hardly ever at my coffee table in the afternoon, nor do I often get to just sit and drink hot tea and eat cookies, but IF I DID, and if I had neither daughter to amuse me, I’d do all of those things with my Bible atlas.) I don’t know how to explain it. I just love it.
Here it is. I’m smiling as I look at it.
I love things like maps and charts. They bring some organization to the chaotic mind of BTSPTB.
Random, huh? Well, that’s when I thought of you. I thought it would be fun to hear you complete this sentence today:
I know this is so random but I love…
What, Girlfriend? What random, not-hyper-serious thing do you love that maybe a ton of people wouldn’t necessarily love with you? Do tell!
I know this is so random, but I love…cream of celery soup over noodles. I think it’s because I’m 25 weeks pregnant?!?!?!
Argyle anything!! It always makes me smile and the really crazy thing is I only have argyle socks, no sweaters or scarves, just socks. 🙂
Anything trial size. Love random things in trial size that I can throw in my purse.
Me, too!
Ooooh, me too!
Morning~I love reading cook books 🙂
YES!!
Me too! But any time of the day!
This is so random but I love the site of cows and heifers running through spring pastures after a long winter in the barn. Their tails standing straight in the air as they gallop/run/lope/jump/kick in the fresh, spring air. I know crazy, huh, but you asked! 🙂
Now you REALLY have me missing our little farm we used to own. I love the smell of the barn and just being near the horses, goats, chickens, and cows. It’s a sweet life. (Last weekend saw us adding a “chicken tractor” to the backyard as we inherited 4 laying hens! Turns out we can have 6 in town~~woo-hoo!)
I know this is random but I love Sunday afternoons when the house is clean, grass has been mowed, cars are fueled, groceries have been bought and there are no papers lying around waiting to be filed. I can relax, watch football and nap with my husband and cat. That, my friends, is the life
Oh, my goodness, you just spoke my love language!
Haha…love it!
@Amber Moon — that sounds perfect to me too!
Amber – this is a life I cannot even imagine! I am kinda counting on this scene in heaven! 🙂
It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s total bliss! I’ll be praying that you get to experience at least once on this side! 🙂
This is so random, but I love sharpie pens. Love them! And journals or notebooks to write in.
We are sisters. 🙂
We are triplets 🙂
Ps did y’all hear hear they just came out with sharpie liquid pencils!? I’ve been dying to tell to this to someone for weeks! HA!
liquid pencils yes! held myself back as long as I could, but had to have them. Unreal. Count me in the Sharpie clan.
We may be the Duggers. 🙂
GJ – you made me laugh so hard that I made those awful snorting noises!!!
Adrienne
Bahahaha!
Oh yes, girls! They made 80s themed ones…guess who totally got some. =)
I am ALL OVER THIS!!!!!!! 🙂
Yes, Sharpie pens are one of my random loves as well. I am planning on asking for the big pack of 80’s Limited Edition colors for Christmas. And yes, yes, journals and notebooks are a delight.
This IS random…but I just love getting out a new bottle of handsoap or dishsoap. It just makes me HAPPY!
Have to agree with ya on this one:)
I know this is random, but I love the first snow of the season (when i’m living in places that get snow, anyway)! 🙂
I love your random questions, Beth 🙂
I love fondling beautifully colored quilting fabrics — they soothe my sometimes distracted heart and inspire me to be creative.
I love these random things: the smell of a sweaty horse, the smell of the morning in the mountains, the smell of tea steeping…
Can you tell I love different smells?! Ha!
So fun! These are a blast, Girls! Keep them coming!
I love the smell and feel of old books!
I LOVE Old Book Smell! I collect old church hymn books and have been know to open one up and smell it in the store!
Encyclopedias – I could spend the day reading one. And maps, also. Fortunately, I married a “map person” too!
Hi Beth!!
You were just on my heart earlier this morning and I was praying for you.
I am thinking about trying to come to the Baltimore event, and maybe visit some Siestas in Virginia! Not sure yet if it will work out.
And I am now also BTSPTB because my niece got distracted. “Oh, you were done 15 minutes ago!” #itsallgood
“A” Milano cookie? Like just one? Really?
I know this is so random but I love…
Laundry machines. I am just always so thankful that my washer & dryer do all the work and I get clean clothes.
Right?! Ah milano…looks like blonder than she pays to be is stronger than I care to me!lol
“my neice got distracted”?! Priceless 🙂
Yep. Free haircuts, what can you say? She is really good at it, but she was playing on her phone and I was playing with their dog and my great-nephew and time kinda flew.
Who knew how much fun you could have walking around with foil on your head?
This is so random but I love the sound of laughter…
This is so random but I love….fountain pop! Dr. Pepper is the best, but truly its better from a fountain!
I second the motion, although my favorite is Diet Coke or Coke Zero.
I’ll third that! 😉
Totally agree! I had to quit it a year ago because I was an addict but, oh, fountain Dr Peppers will always be one my favorite things. 🙂 My husband doesn’t understand the importance of a fountain. And how about a fountain with pellet ice?! Heavenly.
A real Cherry Dr. Pepper over slivered “white” ice (You ice connoisseurs know what I’m talking about!) God will have a free fountain of the stuff in heaven–and I won’t gain weight drinking the stuff!
Oh, hallelujah! When I’m sitting at the banqueting table in Heaven, my chair is going to be right next to the Coke fountain 🙂
Mr Pibb!!! I miss it and they don’t have it up here.
I totally agree, fountain Cokes are the best. I have tried to convince my husband that we need one in the house. For some reason he just won’t buy into this idea.
Me too!!! I am feeling way better about myself now!
YES!! I think Diet Coke from McDonalds just might be the best drink ever! 🙂
Dr. Pepper is one of the things I love too! It is even better as a float (with Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream at the Dr. Pepper museum!)
I love taking the long way… to hop in the car on the way to a place I go “all the time”, and just decide to find a new route… when I’ve got the time, I love to just go for a little drive on my way!
Oh Marina, I was so happy to see your response! Every single day of the week I leave an hour earlier than necessary for work and take the long way. I love this time alone in my car along the back roads with God!
Too fun! I’m so glad! 🙂 That time in the car is always good time with God for me too!
ooh me too! I love to drive just for the sake of the drive and scenery.
Exactly! I am lucky enough to see deer on my drives with some regularity… love His natural world!
Random, but I love flavored seltzer water! I know a lot of people who can’t stand it, but I’m in the middle of training for a race and I’m not allowing myself any soda/lemonade/beverage with calories (aside from skim milk and a morning small glass of OJ), and since there’s no calories, sodium, or sweetener in seltzer it’s the one thing I’m allowing myself that tastes and feels closest to a splurge. Lime and berry are my current faves.
I love seltzer water. For me lime is the best. I love bubbles and fizz and that scrubbing feeling on your throat. There is nothing more thirst quenching than a seltzer, not even a regular soda. But then nothing can replace regular soda with pizza.
I love a Starbucks fresh, pour-over, an Italian Roast like only the best people at Starbucks can do! I love getting to just hear by daughters voices by phone (they live in another city/state ’cause they are my heart!
Going through shoeboxes of old pictures!
Yes, yes! Me, too!
Oh, this one got me – flipping through boxes of pictures is my favorite random love. Even if I have seen the pictures many times. It just lets your mind go everywhere.
I like to read recipes. I just read them, I don’t really make them. I just read through and think about the interesting compinations. This was something that I learned from my Dad. When I was in college we would talk on the phone and read recipes to each other. It was a way for us to connect.
Ha! I’m not the only one. That’s my favorite part of Southern Living magazine.
I know this is random but I love that one of my struggling senior boys is coming around to be a leader in the class during “Macbeth” of all things!
My DRY OATMEAL!
I know this is random, but I love the color of mango sorbet at TCBY!
Oh! I love the way my apartment smells after I clean it. AKA, the smell of cleaning supplies and bleach. I could just stand there and look at it after I cleaned it all day. I also love buying cleaning supplies. Random, yes. : )
me, too, Lindsee. I’m just all about smelling Pledge. It’s almost better than perfume some days!
@Lindsee — same here… both about staring at my clean home and the buying of cleaning supplies. Sometimes my fridge is empty, but under the kitchen sink, doubles of everything!
I love that, Susan.
I know this is so random but I love that my little 5 year old niece (who just started kindergarten) called me up last week(we have lived 6 hours away for 3 excrutiating years, now), excited as…A BORDER COLLIE!…to spell my name for me!! Make my heart melt, laugh and cry, all at the same time!!!
If that’s not random enough, how about…I love Land O Lakes Garlic Butter. you have to try it, it’s the BEST!
I know this is random but I love….feet, mainly baby feet but i love to rub my kids feet.
This is so random but I love… free samples! And hoodies.
I also love free samples. I love opening the mailbox and getting free stuff.
I know this is so random, but I love breathing in the smell of my border collie’s head–right on the top, between her ears. The rest of her just smells like “dog”, but that one spot…I fall in love again everytime. 🙂
I’m going to try it right now on Queen Esther.
Yes, I loved it!
Smile. Brings back puppy memories!
(you are killing me!)
YES!! With my Cindy, I loved the side of her face. Loved that smell. While she was pretty soft all over, that spot was the softest. So very much loved loving on her. ♥♥♥
Ha Ha! I used to do that with my cats head when I was little! My sister and I wanted to bottle the fragrance and call it “Kitty Masse”. 🙂
I love this too!!! 🙂
This is so random…but I love when I roll over in bed and find that my darling husband next to me. Crazy we are on different shifts but God has done amazing things with that since you were here in Salt Lake. I know that has to do with you praying for us as well as my prayer warrior Mom.
Thanks for all you do serving our Lord.
I know this is random, but I love climbing in bed on fresh clean sheets, singing The National Anthem really loud in the shower, and watching my hubby try to dance (he does it just to make me laugh).
Iknow this is random, but I love the sound of a train whistle on a fall day.
I absolutely agree. I can never hear the trains at my house during the summer, but as soon as the night air turns cool I can hear them and it brings my back home to my childhood.
This is so random, but I love big, fat, ice cold, juicy dill pickles. I eat one just about every night.
I know this is random (and nerdy), but I love the weather channel. AND i visit the national weather service website DAILY….just because. 🙂
Kristen, I think I got if from my mom, but I am an avid weather lover as well. It’s an odd obsession. : )
Kristen, I get up at 5:00 and they give the same news every 30 minutes and the same weather every 15. I watch each one like I haven’t ever heard it. I have even been known to rewind (DVR).
I am cracking up because this sounds exactly like my husband! He loves checking and discussing the weather. And we live in SoCal, where the weather never changes. 🙂
I know this is random but I love new socks! I just love the way a new pair of socks feels…and I love it when I open my Bible doing my Beth Moore homework and see that the verses I am looking up already underlined! It means God is using His Word to teach me something new. 🙂
Jessica, I love this idea of God teaching us something new! I do love turning to a Scripture that is underlined but I never thought about why. Thanks for sharing!
I know this is so random, but I love… to go for walks on rainy days because it make everything smell green and new. The sound of the rain on the hood of my jacket or umbrella always seems to soothe me. It seems that when I walk on a rainy day, I feel especially alone with God.
We are Siesta twins separated at birth! My post was about rain too!!
I know this us so random AND I can’t believe I’m going to admit this but any kind of clog in a drain causes my heart to jump. True story! I an the person who delights in snagging hair from the tub draun. The longer, the better… (Ewwwwww! and yet ahhhhhhh!!!!) The satisfaction of getting that before it causes major trauma to my plumbing… Delightful!!!
You just made me laugh out loud! I am glad someone finds joy in that job.
Ditto what Jennifer says! ;-D
I clearly feel secure on this site to post something so ridiculous, gross… Yet, true!! 😉 Glad you got a giggle out of my post!!!
So random, but I love all office supplies. I clapped my hands over some new binder clips the other day. And when I walk in the mornings, I take my spiral and binder clip it in my pocket, so it won’t fall out. My poor neighbors.
I know this is so random but I love sriracha hot sauce. I’ll eat it on just about anything.
Uh oh. I better get me some of that, Sr Lynn!
It comes in a bottle with a green top and a rooster on the front. So delish
Sister Lynn! I have been hooked on that rooster since having it in my first bowl of Pho soup about 15 years ago. THE STUFF IS HOT and wonderful! Not lying – I just salivated thinking of it. Sorry, TMI.
Holy cow – My FAVE! Beth I’m aghast that you don’t own some already.
sister lynn, i love sriracha sauce too!!! my mom lives in thailand & a few months before i go visit her, i will start slowly adding it to all of my meals to prepare for the really spicy stuff in thailand!!!
I know this is so random but I love… the smell of gasoline when I’m fueling my car!
Ok… so not weird. I hate the smell now. But I LOVED it as a kid. I am sure my mother thought I was insane.
I love the smell of gasoline too. My daddy was a Standard Oil man…and when he came home each night I would take his big ol leather boots off…and the smell of gasoline and leather filled the air. It’s the sweetest memory everytime I fill my car with gas.
i love it too. but warned my boys to not ever smell it because it will kill your brain cells. my youngest son replied to me the next time i filled the tank, “don’t smell it mom! it will kill your “smart dots”!” i love that memory.
Love it!
This is so random, but I love picture frames. Have a hard time resisting purchases at our local, glorious Goodwill store. We have “simplified” our life, however, so I don’t have nearly enough room to display them anymore so I just switch them out every so often. These are some fun posts to read. And, Beth, praying for the event this weekend. -joyce
This is random, but I love clean rubber mats in my car on top of the clean vacuumed carpets. 🙂
Me too!…..especially if my kiddos cleaned and vacuumed for moi!!
I know this is random, but I love maps, too!
…the smell of scotch tape!(can’t be off brand-doesnt have the same smell!)
That’s hilarious. Almost made me spit my coffee on the keyboard. Then I reached for my scotch tape (not off brand) and I can admit it just doesn’t do it for me 🙂
I love pedicures!!
I love chapstick. Not just any chapstick either: Medicated Chapstick. Not even generic. I love how I have one in every room in the house, one on my desk at work, and two in my purse.
me too! I think Chapstick is secretly addictive…
I love Bible maps and charts. I got the Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps, & Timelines… I love it! 🙂
I know this is random (and a little crazy) but I love opening up my spice cabinet and seeing all my spices neatly in place, labels facing forward! 🙂
and alphabetized!
And in alphabetical order? Yes!
Joining the “Random Club” laughingly, of course, I love reading Christian Poetry, chocolate and hazelnut coffee while sitting on the front porch on a nice autumn day.
I like writing sometimes also.
Wish I share how I feel in my heart more often, I wrote this yesterday.
Let me draw near to you, O God so much that….I would go through the roof to get to You, I would touch Your garment in a crowd just to be healed, I would use expensive fragrant oil and pour on your head as a memorial and not forget what you have done for me, I would hide up in the sycamore tree just to find you and find your grace, I would listen to you when I thirst at the well and find living water, I would go fishing in a boat and trust you in the storms of life, I would kneel at your feet to worship you, I would follow you no matter the cost, I would give to the poor, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, I would carry your cross and proclaim the good news, I would obey you…. O God of our faith, help me to live a life pleasing to You and Your service.
Wow, Joyce! That was SO SWEET! You made me cry! What an awesome prayer!
This is so random, but when I see the sun shinning on my sofa , all I want to do is go lay in it.
I know it’s random, but I love the smell of old books.
Yes! Me too!
My random treasures….Quilts, swings and covered porches….heaven on earth!
