I know this is so random but I love…

Hey, Darling Things!

I am under the books, studying for our Living Proof Live in Baltimore, MD this weekend. (And if you’re going, I can’t wait to see you and to see what God has a mind to show us. The rest of you please pray for us and we will be the far better for your intercession.) I came to a point in my preparation that I needed to look up a map and my heart did this ridiculous little jump. Why? Because I was about to reach for my Bible atlas…and I love my Bible atlas. I could honestly use it for a coffee table book and thumb through it every afternoon while I drink hot tea and have a Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie. (Of course, I’m hardly ever at my coffee table in the afternoon, nor do I often get to just sit and drink hot tea and eat cookies, but IF I DID, and if I had neither daughter to amuse me, I’d do all of those things with my Bible atlas.) I don’t know how to explain it. I just love it.

Here it is. I’m smiling as I look at it.

I love things like maps and charts. They bring some organization to the chaotic mind of BTSPTB.

Random, huh? Well, that’s when I thought of you. I thought it would be fun to hear you complete this sentence today:

I know this is so random but I love…

What, Girlfriend? What random, not-hyper-serious thing do you love that maybe a ton of people wouldn’t necessarily love with you? Do tell!

I know this is so random, but I love going to Lifeway when I am having a bad day (really, I love going any day, but especially on a bad day). The same sense of exhilaration you feel when you look at that Bible Atlas fills me as soon as I walk in the door. The thought of all the insight into Scripture and the spiritual musings that fill the pages of the books inside the store gives me the greatest joy. From the Bible Atlases to the Christian fiction books, they are all exciting to me! Now, if only someone would pay me to be a professional reader, haha!

P.S. I also love listening to sermons while I’m cooking or doing housework!

Don’t laugh, but I love the Dictionary of Biblical Imagery, especially the fact that it is a good 2″ fat. Just this week I learned that “host” in the Bible can mean “army.” Who knew? You probably did. How many times have I sung, “Praise him among ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son and Holy ghost” and not had a clue what a host was. haha.

I know this is random, but I love mornings in September/October in Orlando Florida. You can feel the difference in the air: the lower humidity, the ten degree drop into not quite coolness. And I can feel that something is different, summer is over and the holidays are coming. But they aren’t close enough to be stressful yet, they are just far enough away to be exciting. I love the mornings at the end of September.

I know this is random but I love being at the beach. I love the sound, the smell, the feel, the calming effect of the waves, the sand, the shells, the beauty, the sunrise, the sunset – everything about being there.

I know this is random but I love office supplies. I can spend a lot of time (not hours but a lot)in Staples or other office supply stores. I just love having fun pens, paper clips, binder clips, highlighters, post-its, etc in my office at school. My favorites were finding file folders in bright pink, yellow, orange and green in polka-dot and stripes WITH matching binder clips AND they were only a dollar!

I am a podcast junkie. I love listening to all manner of Christian podcasts: Lon Solomon at McLean Bible Church; Janet Parshall with In The Market; Focus on the Family; Dobson with Family Talk (just to name a few). I have also downloaded many of Beth’s CD’s to my Ipod. If I can combine listening with a cookie, I am in heaven (homemade chocolate chip preferred, but I can do a Pepperidge Farm Milano too!)

I love the smell of Autumn leaves burning, seeing their beauty, the crisp fall air makes me have more energy. I also love the smell of wood shavings in a new house, my Dad use to build them and the little metal round things out of electrical boxes that I used for money when I went to see his house he was building. I love Children, of course my own Grandchildren the “mostest”, their sweet “sucker fish” kisses, ha and their precious hugs and I love yous. Now I know many others are Grandparents, but these are My Own! This has been fun reading everyone’s Random “likes”! Thanks!
I just have to say too, I lOVE the Believing God series Beth, I bought it to share with others and several groups have used it, and now I am enjoying it again for the 4th time or so, just me and My Lord! Thanks seems so little for all the life time you have given to Others. I have 3 of your studies and love sharing them!So looking forward to getting the James series and sharing it too, Lord willing!

I know this is so random but I love to make others laugh and to laugh with them. Laughing is the greatest joy giver God has given us. When we can laugh about a hard time it puts things in perspective and gives us a bit of brightness during the dark.

I know this is random, but I love looking out my back window and seeing the tiny birds looking for food in the bird feeders or a bath in the bird bath. It ALWAYS reminds me of my precious grandmother who I miss so much. She had a bird bath right outside her kitchen window. Can hardly wait to see her again in glory!!

I love to put a fresh coat of paint on the walls of my house to make it “mine.” I love both the painting and the outcome. I know it is totally weird, and it’s very tiring, but there is something so therapeutic to me about turning on my iPod, listening to praise and worship music or a great sermon, and tediously working to transform a room to something brand new. I just love it.

My three children (age four and under! pray for me!) and I all own bright yellow rain slickers. The good thick kind, the kind you can only find in thrift stores or on Ebay because they don’t make them anymore.* On rainy days, we look like mother ducks and a bunch of little baby ducks. It is ridiculous. I LOVE IT.

*they probably don’t make them like that anymore because they’ve invented something new, something that doesn’t make you sweat buckets under your slicker and then get hypothermia, but I’m old school, baby.

I know this is random but I LOVE my little area heater! It blows warm cozy air, it doesn’t have a hot surface. My husband and I have an agreement that I can’t get it out until the low is 45, then out it comes. I tote it all around the house and I’m so cold natured, every time I push that “on” button, something in my stomach always jumps in excitement!

Random but so true. I too have a love for maps. I love to see where people are, have been and it is amazing how this great big world can be mapped out. I work in the oil & gas business and am alway using maps. If you want to see an interesting map you should see a map of the world God created under the water. Is is like a whole entire world we never knew about. Though the ocean may just look like water to most, underneath it are all sorts of shelfs, caverns, animal life we never knew of nor have seen, within the earth are layers and layers of rocks, gas, oil and who knows what else. How random was that?

    I enjoyed.

I absolutely love the feeling I get when I sit in church on Sunday mornings. It is a feeling I have never had anywhere else. My new husband and I live in a very small town in mid-west Iowa, and I did not grow up going to church…only so often. I am 24 years old and started attending our church when I was about 20. I continually went, and I surrendered my life to God, making sure that I would live my life for Him. Last year at this time, I was baptized and professed my faith in our church. Let me tell you, WHAT AN AMAZING DAY THAT WAS!!! God is so good, and I praise Him everyday for that feeling I get when we walk up those stairs to church each and every Sunday morning. It is such a ‘safe’ feeling, and it is a great feeling to know that every person there would be there for you in a heartbeat.
