DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT FALL! The color, the smell, apple cider, donuts, all the fall foods, the fall fashions, cooler weather, trips to the cider mills, hay rides, bonfires and more! I live in Northern Michigan and the fall Colorado here are truly breathtaking always reflecting God’s glory! – Kristin Juilleret
Katie White: I ADORE fall because it is my much-needed time of renewal. I find the new, crisp temperatures so inspiring and motivating to cook, get the house in order, set some goals for the coming year and do all if the traditional fall things (pumpkin patches, etc with the kiddos). It’s my absolute favorite season and has always been so. Next week my husband and I will celebrate 9 wonderful years of marriage!
Fall, when the air has a bite and our little spot of paradise is turned in to a breathtaking riot of color.
Where do I start??? I LOVE fall for several reasons (like many listed already), but my favorite reason is because I got to marry one of the most amazing men I have ever met in my life. My sweet and loving husband, Clay. Our first kiss was at the altar and we have been married now for 13 years. He has been given wisdom from the Lord and a godly heritage from his family. He is an amazing father to our 3 little girls and He LOVES me. I could go on and on! We chose to marry in the fall because we both love this particular season. I am so thankful each fall as we celebrate our marriage and the gift that the Lord has given to us in one another.
My favorite thing about fall are the colors. Here in the Midwest all the trees change to brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows and when the sun is shining and the sky is blue, oh, it is just divine! It is one of the best reminders of God’s beauty that I can see.
I so love the cool, crisp weather the leaves in their magnificent splashes of color, and a good bowl of chili.
I LOVE Fall! There are so many things but Football is probably my favorite thing about this wonderful season π
I love the scents and colors of Fall outdoors. Especially love the foods–pumpkin bread, hearty vegetable soup, chili, cornbread, & more–yummy! We are usually ready to be done gardening by Fall and enjoying the products from our labor too.
Fall….. what’s not to love….. the crisp weather, the beautiful colors in our Smoky Mountains…. football, chili, I could go on and on….
I love to get my favorite throw and curl up with a good book (candle burning, of course!)! I love to see my husband excited about hunting season and my family sharing football season and the SEC! The trees in all their beauty just make me happy!!
Let’s face it, Fall is wonderful for so many reasons. But top of the list is this: the kids go back to school. After a long summer of taking them swimming, hiking, canoeing, playing with friends, water fights, sleepovers and everything else, I am ready for a nap. Thank you to our teachers who educated them all day and then send them home after lunch. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
I love the scents of fall, especially the ones of apple desserts like apple crisp and also pumpkin pie. And a pumpkin candle is such a delicious scent. I also love how families get together in the fall–it’s a celebration. It’s generally cold out, and so everyone gathers inside in the kitchen where it’s warm.
Sometimes that auto-correct can be a little too helpful! My previous post was supposed to say “fall color ” not “fall Colorado” though, I know Colorado is also beautiful in the fall. π
I love watching my bonus boys play football in the cool weather, and tucking my cold hands into my sweater sleeves. I love listening to Diana Krall and Etta James while drinking warm coffee before everyone wakes up. I also love fall because it helps promote wonderful hair days. π Happy Fall, Y’all!
Being in south Texas, I LOVE the cooler weather (anything under 80 qualifies). And I love cooking chili and soups and watching football! But I think one of the things I like the most is the focus on a time of true thanksgiving.
I love the colors of fall – they remind me of the creative beauty of our Father.
There’s something about that first cool breeze…it fills my heart with giddiness. Maybe because in the south we so long for reprieve of long sweltering days and nights.
Maybe it’s the twinkle in my husbands eyes as we recall our October honeymoon in the moutains of TN. Call us vain, but we believed God LIT the trees in celebration for us, ~smiling.
WAIT a MINUTE. I know that twinkle….hunting season!Beautiful leaves, hot cider, warmth of a crackling fire,
and long evening watching incredible harvest moons rise.
It truly is my favorite time of year. It’s a time to take long walks with my girls through wooded paths. They are more open to share and dream outloud.
I love fall because of the cool air and the chances to snuggle! I love to get in the kitchen and bake things!
I love fall because of PUMPKIN everything and the amazing colors. I use to life up North where you see the beautiful colors of God’s glory but living in Florida I just have to go to Michael’s craft store and buy the beautiful colors! I am so thankful for my life, my family and my love for God!
I only “like” fall; I do enjoy the crisp leaves and the smell of campfires though!
I love fall for the changing colors and the cooler weather! It is a time for homemade soups and baking some goodies!
I love the colors! I love the cool crisp air after a long hot summer! I love football! I love people’s attitudes… We seem to get a little more frisky! I love the fall foods!!!! I love being reminded with the season changes, our God is in control no matter the chaos of the world! That makes me love Him even more!!!;-) happy fall y’all!
Definitely the cool morning & pumpkin anything!
We love Fall in our house (where wecall it Autumn π ) so we can put on our hats and scarves and boots and warm coats on a bright crisp day and go to Avondale – a country estate with forest and the river Avoca where we can kick through the leaves!
I love fall as it is a time of relaxation, kids are in school.. and beth moore bible studies start up again…. ya!!!! it is also the majority of my families birthdays. so it is a time of celebration. the weather is oh so right and the beautiful colors God paints all around us is so awesome.. there is never one fall like the other.. the colors are always different..
Fall is the *aahhhh* at the end of a hot Texas summer! The refresher of my soul to see, feel and smell all the Lord does during this incredible season of change! It is the relief He provides just in the nick of time. The amazing colors as you drive through the Hill Country and take in His Creation. The crisp, cool air that makes you want to snuggle under a blanket with a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning, as you watch an incredible sunrise. The smell of all things pumpkin that just makes you feel warm all over. Fall is my favorite season – and those are just a few reasons!! : ) God Bless!!
I love the colors of fall, the cool air after a long, hot Southern summer, Thanksgiving, fall festivals, and celebrating my dear, sweet husband’s birthday. Thank you Lord for the blessings of fall!
Kicking leaves while wearing my boots and a sweater, smelling the crisp air, as I think about the pot of soup I made earlier that is just about ready…hmmm…yeah…
I love how the mornings are cool and the afternoons are warm. I love the crispness and most of all honeycrisp apple season!!
Hey Mrs. Beth,
I love fall! It’s a time where I really enjoy playing with my too young children. We love building fires and making s’mores! It’s a weekly thing around here;) I’m in Louisiana and it hasn’t got in the 40’s but it sure feels good.
Love ya,
Laci Hill
I love unpacking my sweaters and the way the sky get higher and more open!
Love that crisp morning air of fall! Would also love to win that Dutch oven. My sister-in-law burnt hers up (due to pregnancy brain, lol!) and I’d love to be able to give her a new one!
Cool fall nights just beg for a campfire. We love to camp, and love sitting beside a big campfire at night. However, when schedules don’t allow for camping, we can still enjoy a fire with our gas fire pit while sitting out on our deck. God has blessed us by allowing us to live in the country,,in rural Western Kentucky.
I love the cool nights, warm days, beautiful leaves and the opportunities for family get-togethers involving food!!!
Love the change fall brings. The falling leaves. The promise of cooler weather. The Christmas season. The joy of family and making memories through the holidays!
My favorite parts of fall are the drop in the temperature so I can start wearing sweaters and the beautiful colors I witness on my morning runs.
Hi! Just one thing about fall? This week, in the height of Virginia’s fall, I’m watching my nieces and nephew ‘rake’ leaves, but really poke each other with downed branches, boss one another around that they not ‘doing it right’, and come into to drink warm hot chocolate! Family is what I’m loving about this fall!
I love the crisp fall air!
My favorite fall thing is cooking!! (Here in Chicago, we have cold weather and can turn on our ovens…) The fall means fixing my Gran’s recipes, who passed almost 7 years ago. Remembering her, and having my one year old man-child try all her amazing recipes is an amazing way to enjoy fall and honor her in my heart! π
Watching the golden leaves, float slowly and gracefully from the treetops to the ground yesterday. During a breezy few minutes they seemed to almost fill the sky.
I love the back-to-school feeling, crisp October days w/ really blue skies, the first trees with colored leaves, Fall Bible Study (we just finished Mercy Triumphs), the FIRST pumpkin latte, candy corn, long walks in woods, backyard campfires w/ s’mores, of course. I love getting the Christmas music for the choir, pumpkins and mums everywhere, jean jackets and scarves. Oh – I could go on way too long. Love me some Fall!
In the south, God is good to heat us up and then cool us down…and then there’s SEC football!!! You can’t get better than the calm of fall autumn leaves and the fight to shove that pigskin into the end zone. You gotta love it!
Fall reminds me of when I met my husband. Something about the cool air stirs my heart and takes me back to the very day we met. We met in November of 1983 married in 1985 and have been married for 27 years now! God is good…all the time!
I love walking into the grocery store and seeing the large boxes full of fresh apples! That means by the end of the day, I will have apples simmering in a pot, making applesauce! It’s taken two years of practice, but my homemade applesauce is almost as good as my mothers.
I love the smell and warmth of a wood burning fire, appetizers spread about, and our closest friends together cheering on a favorite football teams–whether highschool, college or professional. Nothing brings friends together like that!
Fall is my favorite for a million reasons.
The best one is that my husband’s busy summer work schedule is over and our family gets more of HIM!!
I love the first changing of the air, the crispness and the beauty of the colors. Such beautiful colors that soon will be bare limbs. And these changes come on the heels of that fabulous start of football season, though my team is having a less than stellar year.
I love Fall because the air is COOL, but the sun is warm – the best of both worlds!
My favorite thing about fall is that it is not yet winter in Minnesota!
Molly Mercer
Leaves, leaves, and more LEAVES!!!! They are just so gorgeous!!
