DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a redΒ Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

There are so many things I love about the fall – cooking, pumpkins, it’s cooler, holidays, etc. I guess what I love the most is the colors. It amazes me every year how creative God is. Wow!
I love fall in Kentucky with the beautiful changing colors of the leaves! God’s glory on earth
I LOVE Fall and eagerly anticipate its arrival every.single.year… from the gorgeous leaves (east coast!) to the crispness in the air, pumpkin anything and everything delicious, campfires on a cold night, sweatshirts and jeans, the blessed time change… the list could go on forever. I might have started burning my Autumn Wreath Yankee Candle in August this year. Just maybe. What a FUN giveaway! Thanks for loving on us!
Hey Ladies!
I think the drawing is over since it is the 2nd but I will still give it a whirl just in case. π I love fall because it finally allows you to have a fire, snuggle up with a blanket (with a cup of coffee or tea of course) and read a good book by the window. Ahhh…. yep. That’s where I am going right now
I absolutely love the crispness in the air and the aromas of deliciousness that linger in our kitchen. Fall just makes me smile bigger than any other season!!! As my hubby and I were driving to a meeting last night, we saw deer, a flock a hundreds of birds and an owl sitting on a fence post. I just <3 fall.
Blessings!
You said it so well – the crisp fall air gets in my lungs in the best way possible! I know spring is like a rebirth for some folks, but that is what fall does for me! I have increased hope, thankfulness, and praise. God paints wonderfully well all the time, but the fall colors are some of His best! And my family likes fall too, because I get back in the kitchen! Thank you Lord for my many blessings!
I LOVE everything about the Fall, God’s artistic ability on display as the leaves change colors, pumpkins, scarecrows, football and the smells of cinnamon & nutmeg!
Happy Fall Y’all!!
Living in the northeast of our great country gives me much to love about the fall season. I love the cool crisp days, farmers markets full of produce for fall, leaves falling and dancing in the wind and I love that our Bible study starts up again. I love pumpkin lattes and muffins and squash. What a wonderful time of year.
I love fall for a new reason this year. God moved us earlier in the year to a neighborhood that sits across from a cotton field. We’ve seen the cotton from the time of planting to the time of harvest. It was so beautiful to see the cotton in all of its glory the week before it was picked. It was breathtaking to look out over the field every morning at the sun coming up over it. My children noticed its beauty too. I didn’t realize how much until this week when the cotton was picked. My children were so sad! Our little 4 year old’s prayer was for God to help the farmer grow “anudder” batch of cotton.
From now on, the cotton will be something our family looks forward to every fall.
I do love fall which I call Autumn, because I have a wonderful, younger sister named Autumn Joy! She was born in November π
Autumn brings sweet and precious family memories and elicits a plethora of thanksgiving moments. Often I can find myself forgetting my blessings in the face of what seems to be overwhelming discouraging occurrences. During autumn, however, I seem to be on ‘all alert’, really thankful to God for all He has done for me no matter my circumstances. TODAY I am beginning to pray for an autumn state of mind throughout the year!
Autumn Blessings to All!!
The thing I love most about Fall is the colors, I decorate my home with earthtones anyway, but Fall gives me the chance to really do it up right, I started putting my Fall decor out in August, kind of crazy I know, but that’s me! Thank you for all you do I love your blogs, I especially love the give aways! Happy Fall Y’all!
I love all the leaves changing! Even in Texas we get a little! Plus I love the cooler weather, eating soup and pie, and the upcoming holidays.
I love fall because it is the beginning of “soup season” in our house–we love a bowl of soup on a crisp, cool day!
I love the cooler temperatures, the beautiful colors, and fresh crisp apples.
My husband’s brothers are farmers, so one of my favorite things about fall is to go watch them harvest the crops. I love to stand out in the field on a crisp fall day, and enjoy the wonderful aromas that are created as they harvest the corn, soybeans, and sugar beets. It always gives me a great appreciation for all of the wonderful things in nature that God has created, and how we can use them for good. We are always mindful, though, that we are just caretakers of the land that the Lord has blessed us with, so we take great care that the land will someday be left in the same way we found it, so that the next generation can also enjoy its abundance.
Beautiful vibrant colors and comfort food!
Thank you so much for the opportunity of this wonderful Giveaway! Fall is my second favorite season! (Spring won out for the mere reason that as I get older, MN winters are “less delightful” as I try to make it thru the snow driving to work!) But, I love the changing of the seasons as it bursts forth in amazing color to then have the leaves fall and decorate the ground for walks in the woods! I love gathering the leaves into piles as they become crunchy, to jump in with family! Apple orchards with pumpin patches are tradition and I have to go to at least three to sample their delicious apple crisp–preferably with cinnamon ice cream! Autumn also brings cooler temps, keeping me inside and allowing for more time with our Lord in the Word, as our Fall bible study begins!
I love the afternoon light in Fall…
I love fall for so many reasons but it reminds me if my dear mother who passed away in January (she battled a rare form of breast cancer for three years). As a child she would take my three siblings and me to the mountains of NC for the day to walk the streets of downtown blowing rock and indulge in all of the fall goodness the town has to offer. We’d take a picnic and go for a ride on the parkway and enjoy the breathtaking views from the mountainside. I have the most fond memories of my mom in the fall and feel so blessed that God gives us seasons in which we can grieve and remember but also feel comfort and peace!
Fall is my favorite season. I love that the cool weather comes in and refreshes and cleans out the mustiness of the hot summer. I feel renewed, reenergized, and hopeful for what is to come. For me, the cool autumn air brings it with it a chance to start over and a hope for renewal. And sometimes, my heart and spirit desperately need that.
I love the colours of fall and the crisp fresh air. And it time again to break out the big pots and create yummy soups and chili.

I LOVE fall because of witnessing God’s handiwork in the beautiful foliage. I also love sweaters/sweatshirts and of course scarfs!!
I love the fall season and have a annual tradition for the past 29 years (I began the first fall we were married) to make a homemade apple pie when the first cold front arrives. Yes, I said homemade apple pie! I have loved this tradition of kicking off fall’s glorious season this way! On a side note, I am originally from Canada (family moved to Houston when I was 13), and I remain especially fond of fall’s special blazin’-orange-red maple leaves, doesn’t God paint a wonderful palette on the trees every fall?
I love watching my boys play football because they love it! Brandi Cox
What’s not to love about fall? Sweater season, smores, leaves turning, weather cooling, pumpkin bars, anticipation of the holidays…..
I love the crisp mornings and breathing the cool, damp air.
I also like the clear skies at night and able to see so many stars. And I thank Him for loving me so.
Cora Lee Konecny
Several years ago we lived in Florida . . .while the landscape and weather is glorious, there is NOTHING that compares to fall in the Midwest! We are now “home” and there is nothing greater than a crisp, cool, blustery, gloomy day on the outside and a thankful, cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere on the inside with the aroma of a pumpkin candle burning on the counter, the sound and smells from a pot of soup bubbling gently on the stove, and a fire flickering in the fireplace. Ah – almost Heaven.
I love fall for the smell, fresh nature smells. The colours in eastern Canada are glorious. Reds, orange, browns, corn fields, the rain in city scape. Warm cups of tea, and reading in favourite chair nesting for winter.
Thanks for your ministry and the chance to share such wonderful prizes.
I love being able to wear a sweatshirt and shorts. The combo makes me happy as i sip my pumpkin spice latte.
I love the crisp clean air of fall with all the amazing colors! I love the crunch of dried leaves under my feet and I love chili cooking on my stove. Fall is one of my favorite seasons! It’s God’s paintbrush at it’s greatest!
Sheila Harris, Appleton, NY
What I love about fall: I love hearing my kids walk through the leaves as they crinkle and the smell. Oh, it is good.
Kelli Corona- I love fall for the fireside nights with hot cocoa!!
Awesome giveaway such beautiful gifts!
I love fall because living in the Sunshine state it gets cooler and we can finally drink hot drinks without sweating. I love fall as it always reminds me of giving.

I love fall because as the wife of a rice farmer, it means my husband who so diligently worked the land from spring to fall is now able to reap what he has sown. It means he no longer has to be out in the fields from dark to dark, 7 days a week for almost 30 days straight and for the next few months, we rest. It also means it gets dark earlier so we can legitimately crawl into our comfy bed without feeling guilty. π
I love fall ! ! I love the way that God has used his paintbrush on His creation. The fall colors of red, yellow, orange and even brown just give me chill bumps. And the cooler temperatures are wonderful after such a hot summer. Don’t we serve an awesome God?
I love the smell of a campfire, …even the smell coming out of a home that has a wood burning fireplace, …I love how it gets stuck into my clothes so I can still smell it the next day. somehow walking down the road up north at the cottage through the leaves while this scent is in the air is one of my most favorite things….
π
I love the cooler weather, sweaters, fires in the fireplace, warmth of home, leaves changing, the holidays, and all manner of soups. Happy Fall ya’ll. Brittney Ellis
Jenn Glass
I love the crisp fall mornings and snuggling in blankies.
The best thing I love about fall can’t be captured in a “one item” explanation. I love wearing a warm sweater with a hat on my head and gloves on my hands. I love the smell of wood smoke coming from fireplaces in the neighborhood. I love warm drinks (at 130 degrees, thank you very much), homemade chili. I love seeing my breath in the frosty morning air. I love hearing the crunch of frost on the ground under my footsteps. And I LOVE the way the Lord paints the landscape with His glorious autumn palate of rich colors. It is truly my favorite time of the year….
The thing I love most about this time of year is my favorite holiday… Thanksgiving. It’s so simple – a nice meal, family and a thankful heart. And I have so very much that I am thankful for… I could just sob over it!
Anna Grantham
Make-Up LOVER (hint hint) π
I love fall because I love pumpkin spice coffee, the changing leaves, the cooler temps, and most of all…the drop in humidity results in very good hair days!
I love pumpkin spice coffee and the cool air. Leaves changing and short days. Oh, and a bonfire! I love a bonfire!
Football + Important Men in My Life = Fall
Those men would be my husband, a sports nut and my son, a football coach!
Dawn Smith
I love so many different things about autumn! From the pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks to watching football on Sundays with my husband. I also love experimenting with delicious fall flavors like butternut squash, pumpkin and apple. I love the changing leaves and how glorious they change the landscape. There are many other things that make Autumn my favorite season, but my post doesn’t need to be any longer!
That’s easy: EVERYTHING!!!! I am a FALL girl – love the cool, crisp air; love hot apple cider; love the smell of decaying leaves on a bundled-up hike through the woods; love sipping hot tea on the deck of a friend’s cabin in the mountains; LOVE pumpkin pie, pumpkin dump cake, pumpkin anything; love corn mazes; love the beauty in nature – multi-colored leaves against a clear blue sky; love sweaters and jeans;…..
well, you get it. π I just love fall!
By the way, did I mentioned I love fall, because my birthday is in late September? π
And I am in the mood . . . . to make me some chicken tortilla soup…..
In the Pacific Northwest there are crazy, perfect moments of a combination of beautiful leaves, the moist ground from a gentle rain and Canada geese flying in a V formation over head. You can smell the distant fire from a fireplace and come home to a pot of hot soup and realize that each night the sun is going down sooner….it’s a wonderful time of year.
Oh my goodness! I love just sitting on the back porch or at the park and listening to the leaves rustle in the breeze. Glorious!
Alicia Simpson–My favorite thing about fall is tights and socks and boots and scarves! I love fall accessories! And, my littlest sister, Autumn (who also happens to be one of my very best friends) was born in the fall!
Harvest, the grace and peace of harvest.
As a laboring Mn farm kid, my heart still surges to think of the humbling grace and peace of Harvest. We would toil and toil and wait “for the land to yeild its valuable crop…patiently waiting for the early and late rains”.
Harvest on a real farm meant our large family would eat and be well, one more year. A huge garden was canned, plump animals butchered, apples picked from the orchard and preserved, and countless trips to the elevator selling grain.
One of my favorite jobs in college was working with a custom combining crew in North Dakota. What massive bounty the Lord would provide. It overwhelms me even today to think of Gods grace in Harvest. It’s a child like dependancy as you toil and pure delight to gather a harvest. Do it again Lord, do it again.
I love Fall because of the beauty God allows us to enjoy … the colorful leaves, the brilliant blue sky, the cooler temperatures (and low humidity). I love Saturdays watching college football, pulling out the sweaters and hoodies, and watching my puppies run through fallen leaves. Fall is my favorite season of the year.
