DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a red Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

Katie Faffler- my favorite thing about fall is wearing hoodies and boots. I love the cooler weather!
Hi there ladies, What I love about fall. The warmth of the sun and cool breeze and the crunch of the leaves under my hiking boot covered feet, crisp jeans that haven’t been worn all summer and a long sleeve t-shirt that came from the bottom of the cedar chest. Makes me smile ever time I think about fall. My birthday is in October and we used to take trips to the Pumpkin Patch and it seems like every time was so perfect.
Thank you for allowing me share a trip down memory lane. God bless.
Lisa Lucas
The changing of seasons is always my favorite time, but there’s something extra special about the changing season into fall. The air seems clearer, the colors more vibrant, smells more vivid. I love it all!! This fall I took the change literally when I suffered a fall from a ladder in early October. After being in the hospital for 5 days I watched the month go by outside my windows while resting on my couch. Each day started cold and misty, then minute by minute it would lift and clear and rays of light would break through. Glory!
Steaming hot lattes on cool mornings are one of my favorite things about fall. Not to mention college football, the beginning of college basketball and switching over to a new wardrobe! 🙂
Forgot to leave my name – Casi Bowers
My favorite thing? That includes about 20 things! I love anything pumpkin, the leaves changing colors, sweatshirts, and football. I also love that it means family gatherings are near.
I love the colors of fall (leaves, sunsets, clothes, etc.)! And of course, everything pumpkin!
definitely the fall colors and pumpkin pie!
I love the beautiful colors of fall, but I think my favorite thing about fall is the slower pace. Even though the holiday seasons are fast approaching, fall gives me a little time to catch my breath. And as I am entering the winter season of my life, I don’t want to miss anything, especially what my God has for me!
Starting back when I was just a lil girl, as I have a FALL birthday, it’s always been a Special time for me! I loved going back to school, love the changing colors of the leaves & the crunching sound they make under your feet. Love the smell of wood burners, harvest & cider. The sight & sounds of huge flocks of geese flying South, going home… The feel of the crisp cool air & flakes of snow gently falling from above. Even coffee takes much better this time of year! Make it a “Pumpkin Latte” from S.B’s, and really, what could be better? 😉 jus say’n….
My favorite thing about Fall is pulling out sweaters and the smell in the cool crisp air of wood burning from firepits or fireplaces. Cozy!
Change. Fall brings with it not only a riot of second-to-none color, but a season of rest for our family and farming community. – Cheryl Unrau
I love that the evenings are cool and crisp, but the days are warm (here in Texas). I love sitting and soaking in the warm (not hot) sun.
I love fall…bonfires, SEC tailgaiting and football games and any dessert with pumpkin!
My favorite thing is pulling out my favorite sweaters and sweatshirts and putting on the tea water in the evening and hanging out with the family warm and snugly.
My favorite thing about fall is the smells, everyone is baking and the air is full of nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin etc. The smells transport me to a place of peace and quiet.
Glenna Fiddler- My favorite thing about fall…the leaves changing colors and the crunchy noise they make when you walk over them
My favorite thing about fall is PUMPKINS. Oh how i love pumpkins. And my second favorite is all the beautiful fall colors. And did I mention pumpkins lol
Stephanie Lloyd – warm apple cider while looking at the fall leaves that have changed to colors of red, orange and yellow. And the sight of mums and pumpkins on every doorstep. Ah, I just love fall!!
I love the start of stoking up the fireplace once again (let’s be honest, it’s my husband that does all the work)! I love the rainy days that force me into sitting on my couch and reading a wonderful book!
Fall means Starbuck’s Salted Caramel Mochas, the changing of the colors on the trees. This year, for me, it means falling leaves, bare branches, reminding me to dig my roots down deep in Christ and keep my “branches” lifted high in praise, no matter the winds or the rain. Spring will be here again. Praise Him!
I’m crazy about the trees right now…warming our little home by baking things I should not have near me…and having a fall-ish scented candle burning at all times (even last night for a few hours while we were at church…oops!)!
I love the changing colors in fall. Not only does the season display Gods glory but it reminds us our lives have different seasons, but change comes even if we are not ready. However, change can be a beautiful thing!
I love cuddeling with my man and my girls in front of the fire…and a nice hot bowl of chili with cornbread!
My name is Rachel Haney and what I love the most about fall is anything pumpkin flavored and mashed potatoes. I just can’t eat either thing until fall rolls around! Thank you for the giveaway!

Emily Fowler – My favorite thing about fall is making apple cider with my mom and watching the deer (amongst beautiful trees) in the back yard.
I love Autumn for the following reasons:
1. It gets cold (cooler than the normal So Cal weather). 2. We get the sweaters and thick blankets out.
3. Can bundle up at night with the blanket over my head and a Kindle in my hand.
4. Lots of birthdays happen in our family – including mine.
5. Fall is the time we get the hour back that we lost when Daylight Saving Time happened. Hello, one more hour of sleep.
P.S. Melissa, I’m kinda new to the Siesta community. You write just like your Mama.
Glennell Strawn – My favorite thing about fall is being able to wear sweaters again and the crispness in the air.
I love everything about fall. My favorite sweaters with my comfy socks. Starbucks slated Carmel mocha, pumpkin muffins, and hiking in the leaves.
I love decorating my house for fall. I have beautiful Russian artifacts that I brought back from my short term mission trip (almost 2 years), to Russia. The fall colors compliment my matrushka’s and other Russian things.
I love all things orange and harvest time!!!! Apple picking, pie making, yummy goodness!!!
Watching my child delight in the celebrations and everyday occurrences the season has to offer.
My favorite thing about fall is the leaves changing here in NC!
I love the need for long sleeves and the cool of the air captivating my lungs as I go out to warm up the car before leaving for school. I love the colors of my soul dressing the trees of my beautiful city, les bois. I love bundling up with my kids, going outside when everyone else gets in the car to escape, and letting the yellow leaves fall on our heads like rain on the first windy day. I love “falling back” and getting an extra hour of sweet sleep. I love fall.
I love the brisk autumn air, the smell of grills cooking and fires burning. I love that you can see your breath in the coolness and all the miraculous changing colors of nature. But most of all, I love the giving Spirit that shines so bright and is more evident this time of year. How beautiful to see the hands and feet of God blessing others and the smiles on the blessed. Happy FALL LPM!
My favorite thing about fall is the changing of colors. I also love a nice cup of tea by a warm fire. Bundling up in warm comfy clothes is also quite enjoyable!! Fall is my favorite time of year!
My favorite thing about Fall is the end of the long, hot, HUMID summers in North Carolina.
I love drinking a chai tea on a crisp morning!
My favorite thing about fall is the excitement of gathering with family for the holiday!!!
I love the beautiful colors and crisp air. Oh wait, that’s two things!
My favorite thing about fall is my stepson’s high school football. Senior year right now and 2 wins away from going to state!!
I love the sound of leaves crunching under my boots, the warmth of hot cocoa on a crisp evening with friends and family around around a bonfire.
I love seeing the leaves turn to brilliant colors, the last explosion of fall flowers, and the cool crisp air. I also love Fall foods like soups and stews. I look forward to our church’s harvest festival to play games with the children, ride hayrides, and enjoy food and fellowship with friends.
My name is Kate Hall, and I can’t get enough of the red red red red bright red leaves!
Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love simmering my mulling spices on the stove. It makes the whole house smell like Autumn.
