DEAR SIESTAS! THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU IS MAKING ME GO ALL-CAPSY.
It has been FOREVER and then some but I have been thinking about you. I know I haven’t been in this here blog-space much recently but I can assure you that I’m still at LPM. My days are full since I’m working and going to school part-time. AGAIN. Yes, again. Somehow even when I vow to walk away for good, I end up right back in the classroom in some capacity. This time around I’m working slowly on a M.A. in Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University. When I’m not researching something for a project at LPM, I’m taking a Greek class in the Septuagint and a Hebrew readings class in the Joseph narrative. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Winston Jeffrey Fitzpatrick?! A little over a year ago Colin brought home a baby rottweiler and our life has never been the same since (even when I desperately want it to be!). Winnie is SO, SO bad but we love him madly.
Here is W posing in my dining room. Or demanding a filet mignon cooked over medium, I’m not really sure.
Here he is again furious about having to wear his birthday hat:
But really, enough about us.
I want to talk about YOU and a fall giveaway we are doing because we love you and appreciate you.
Now, I should mention at this point that if you are one of those people who is SO OVER all the talk about pumpkin-flavored anything, then you will want to run for your life.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Do I have a faithful fall remnant?
This weekend we had our first legit “cold-front” here in Houston. It was even down in the forties one night. Glory be! The crisp cold air in my lungs got to me in the best way possible and, of all things, I wanted to cook. There’s just something about fall that always brings me back to the kitchen. Nothing better than listening to a little Norah Jones or The Civil Wars with the windows cracked open, cool breeze dancing through the house, while a chili or stew simmers on the stove. I thought just maybe fall might do the same for some of you so the grand prize winner will get a red Le Creuset signature round dutch oven (red not orange like the one on the box).
I love it passionately and do not want to let it go. I even enjoy posing with the beloved dutch oven:
The second prize to be claimed is a $100 gift card to Pottery Barn because, let’s be honest, Pottery Barn during the fall season is heaven on earth:
Gift number 3 includes an amazing decorative pillow, fall flower arrangement, and Hill Country Home candle.
Gift number 4 includes a fun little clutch from Anthro, a scarf, several pairs of boot socks, and some gorgeous MAC makeup in fallish colors.
Here is Lindsee modeling the scarf. Love her and she can work a scarf better than anyone I know:
This MAC stuff is tough to photograph but fantastic (includes three eye shadow kits and two lipsticks in shades of Russian Red and Viva Glam III).
Gift number 5 has a bunch of fun stuff: Cook’s Illustrated Fall Entertaining magazine, kitchen towels, mulling spices, Hill Country Home candle (again this is one of my faves!), autumn cupcake decorating set, beautiful engraved silver dish, Trader Joe’s Pumpkin bread mix, and more.
Gift number 6 comes with a fun autumn welcome mat, potpourri, decorative kitchen towel, and my favorite ever mulled apple cider candle. DIVINE.
Here is Mom sorting out all the gifts. Isn’t she cute?
So dear friend, for a chance to win one of the six prizes, please leave a comment with your first and last name and tell us something you love about fall.
We love you so much,
Melissa

FALL is my FAVORITE SEASON!!!
1) Love the whole idea of CHANGE with anticipation of another season of life coming through (I think I have Gypsy in my blood!) :o)
2) Love the crispness in the air
3) Love the gorgeous Fall colors around us here in the Davy Crockett National Forest. Makes our drive to town oh so much more pleasant!
4) Love the reminder of the times I lived in Colorado Springs near mountain country. Love Texas in a big way, but I’m a mountain girl at heart!
5) Get to pull out some fun clothing that actually fits my expanding horizons. Need to fix that by getting outside and getting more activity in my Fall clothes.
6) Finally, getting away from the Texas heat and humidity!!
Thanks so much for the fun gifts and contest! Blessings in every way to y’all!!
I really am a warm weather, flip flop wearing, girl (and yes, at 60 years of age, I still call myself “girl”) But my favorite thing about fall is the beautiful colors of the changing leaves and getting to have a roaring fire in the fireplace. If it cant be warm outside, then I for sure want it toasty inside. Many blessings!!!
My favorite thing to do in the fall is crunch leaves! I have even been known to stop the car if I see a crunchy leaf on the sidewalk and crunch it!
I love fall because I am obsessed with anything and everything PUMPKIN! Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, pumpkin whoopie pies….yum!
Jessica Villalpando
Hands down my favorite thing about Fall is being able to light my fireplace on those rare nights that we get cold weather and enjoy a cup of coffee or a hot cup of hot chocolate!
Fall is my most favorite season, it reminds me of how much God loves me. After a hot summer, he rewards me with a change of season and that can be compared to some of the seasons of my life. Too hot to handle on my own, but then comes the cool weather….which He brings. He changes the times and seasons….
love, love, love everything about fall! beautiful leaves, cooler temps, everything pumpkin, my birthday!!
Fall is when God paints the landscape in colors with no names. As many colors there are at the paint store or in the big box of Crayolas no amount of mixing can come up with HIS display!
yesterday I took my overgrown fur child and went to a little known nature trail of sorts. there is just something about walking in the woods crunching leaves that just speaks to my soul. I always exit said nature trail with a more positive attitude and a belief that I have walked hand in hand with God.
I love Thanksgiving, leaves turning, football, and turning off the a/c after a sweltering Texas summer.
I love the changing leaves and cooler weather – the only thing I don’t like it that winter follows with COLD weather and snow.
I love the smell and sounds of a fire in the fireplace!
Fall always makes me feel a bit homesick! Homesick for my “growing up” days, for my mama who is now with Jesus, for apple cider and sugar doughnuts, for jumping into piles of leaves, for my cocker spaniel, Taffy.
I now have four grandboys and I love watching them explore and enjoy fall!
Fall is my favorite season! First of all I LOVE the color orange!! Love to wear it and decorate with it. I love that it’s a time of harvest. Things that we’ve grown throughout the summer are now canned, perserved into jams, or frozen and to be eaten during the winter months. l love the cool crispness that can be felt outside and the vibrant colors of nature. I love the foods that we make in the Fall such as stew, chili, applie pie, and green bean casserole. It’s a season that satisfies all the senses!!

Now that Halloween is over…it’s the thought of Thanksgiving…you know, really giving thanks for the bountiful blessings I have.
I love the colors of fall…such beauty and a great reminder of the Creator’s love for us. Of course, I do enjoy anything pumpkin in the fall!
I love seeing the sun rise and hit the leaves on the gorgeous maple trees in my front yard…I boldly admit that in my 42 years (and being incredibly blonde), I am just realizing that the changing of the color of the leaves is in direct reaction to the rays of sunlight that hit the leaves (i.e. the leaves that get the sunlight first, change first)! I have witnessed God painting the beautiful color on the leaves each morning…makes my heart smile. 🙂
I love the fall colors; God’s paintbrush cannot matched.
I LOVE the fall bc being born and raised in South America there is not such a thing as fall.. Only rainy season and not rainy season. When I experienced fall for the 1st time I was amazed at God’s creation even more, His beauty displayed on these gorgeous yellow and orange vibrant colours showing the best of the trees for the last time before their leaves fall off into the winter…Fall it is hard to describe to somebody like my family back home has never experience, it is like they haven’t seen one part of what heaven might look like! Someday hopefully they can come and see it! Love the pics thanks for sharing! And yes your momma is cute!
What I love most about the fall is the beautiful changing leaves – try to tell me there isn’t a God because I believe nature proves otherwise!!
I love fall!!! Everything about it-crisp air, pumpkin muffins, football! Oh and just simply the colors of fall!
oops! forgot my last name for my comment above 🙂 sorry about that!
Hi! My name is Lourdes Agosto. Fall is my FAVORITE season! I love everything about autumn … season colors, whistling winds, crunching noises of leaves on the ground, pumpkin bread, memories at pumpkin patch with kids, birthday celebrations (my son’s and mine), Christmas wish list, and the best of all…family and friends gathered around the table giving THANKS to The Lord.
I love fall because it is perfect for cozy times with family.
I love bringing out my sweaters, boots and tights!
Autumn is my favorite season. It reminds me of 1Peter 1:24-25. Just like the flowers, leaves in this case, fall off the ” word of The Lord endures forever.” While the lovely autumn leaves fall off the trees are bare in winter I am reminded that God has a plan and a path. As I watch the season change I and enjoy its beauty, the changing of seasons is brining a new path to follow God’s plan for me. Autumn always reminds me how timeless God is and how the seasons will appear again, in a different way.
I love the cooler temperatures of fall – which living in south Georgia are just now beginning now.
Sharon Durrence
Fall always means getting to see my family over the Thanksgiving holiday, which I love!
Fall for me signifies the start of a great holiday season with lots of time with family! Love it!
Here in Indiana, the trees are just so beautiful in the fall. I love fall cooking and starting to think about comfort foods I can make!
Erin DeGroot
I love the changing leaves, cooler temperatures and warm hot chocolate!

I love that with fall comes a NEW season! I need some “new” right now. I love the smells, sights and yes…the tastes. Scarecrows, pumpkins, fireplaces roaring, jeans, sweaters, boots…boots and more boots. Snuggling with my hubby and my kids. It’s a good time of year! Plus it gives my crazy type A personality the approval to slow down and rest!!
I love fall because in Tennessee the leaves are beautiful! My husband and I love to go for a hike on Signal Mountain and then visit a local apple orchard and buy apples and cider. It is also the time of year that I go to Bible study each Wednesday! We take the summer off, but I look forward to getting back in the Word with an indepth study each fall! Thank you Beth Moore and Livivg Proof Ministeries for all you do for ladie’s Bible studies. It has changed my life!
I love the sound of the leaves as my kids run through, and the way they smell like fall when they come back in the house and want hugs! I love pumpkins, coffee, football, and decorating! I love seeing the little munchkins at my door all dressed up for trick or treating! The pumpkin patches and fall festivals are so fun!
I love the fall, also, because of Bible study starting up at church, we are in the middle of James, and are enjoying you and your mom (and God’s word)immensely!
Blessings!

My name is Stephanie Techau fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the changing colors of the leaves, which have been particularly breathtaking in Kentucky this fall.
I love fall because it’s the reminder that change brings beauty and death is the beginning of life.
I love fall because of the cooler, less humid weather and the beautifully colored leaves. It also makes me want to cook again after the hot months of summer. It means getting into a new Bible study with our women’s group at church.
I love fall in the south, and your pics of Winnie and of your sweet faces. Fall reminds me that time is passing and soon we will get to go HOME! The older I get the more I adore the marching of time and seasons that highlight this. Our God is good and we give thanks for His glorious goodness!
And I was born TWICE in November! First time to this earth, second time 7 years later to my heavenly family! Wooho!
Fall is wonderful for many reasons. I feel a sense of renewed thanksgiving as the year winds down! Such a sweet reminder of all the blessings in our lives! Thank you Jesus!
I love the fall. I think it has replaced summer as my favorite season. I love the crisp evening air, the beautiful variety of leaf colors, and sitting next to a warm fire in the woodstove with a hot drink and a good book. Beautiful!
Lindsay Neagle
Fall foliage and cool weather!!
My favorite fall things are the unbelievable oranges and reds of the maple trees here in middle Tennessee! I also love hot apple cider and s’mores sitting by the bonfire!
After 3 years of living on Maui, I am loving everything about having an actual fall experience this year!!!!
Summer used to be my favorite season. Okay, to be truthful, it still is my favorite. But as I get older fall has become a close second. I love the change in the air that signifies a transition – and how that transition is reflected in the clothes we wear, what we do in the evenings and on the weekends, and even the food we eat and drink (let’s hear it for Starbucks Thanksgiving blend and spaghetti squash – but not together!) I love fall Bible study (this fall we’re tackling Revelation) and I especially love Thanksgiving. Whew! I love alot about the fall. :o)
Fall brings lots of birthdays, our anniversary, giant pumpkin competitions, and colorful landscapes that are literally breath-taking. It’s my favorite season, by far!
I love that it is so easy to be outside in the fall, because it is cooler. And, God feels closer when I am outdoors. He feels all around me! In the sun beams, the rain drops, bread baking, and, of course, the glorious colors of fall.
Love to all at LPM,
Hope Hagan.
Football + Important Men in My Life = Fall
(My husband, a sports nut and my son, a coach)
Fall feels like entering a season of rest. All the glorious colors burst forth, then the leaves fall to the ground. Nature gets a rest and slows down for a season. The sun doesn’t stay in the sky as long and we all can chose to have a little slower, quieter time.
It is my favorite time of year! What I love most is the tilt of the sun this time of year that makes the softest, warm, most beautiful sunlight in the afternoons. I love the colorful leaves. I love to cook. I would love to wear sweaters, but what’s a woman having hot flashes all day long to do?!
Hey there! My name is Jan and after reading all the fabulous comments above, all I have left to say is. . . DITTO! Everyone has already expressed everything that I feel, sense, and see myself. From God’s handiwork of the colors changing, to cooler temps to cuddle more, fireplaces, God’s birthday coming, and yes, of course, pumpkin anything!! There was mention of football, which is a fave of my husband and myself (GO DUCKS & PACKERS!) but the only other thing that has been left out is that is the time of year for Gonzaga Men’s & Women’s Basketball! GO ZAGS! Oh, and LPM ROKS!
