Life Essentials Study Bible – A Giveaway

(Drum Roll Please!)

According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)

Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!

Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!

Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!

By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!

Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)

I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.

In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.

As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.

Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!

We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.

Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!

Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.

With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.

If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.

So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.

Here’s how it will work:

1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!

2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!

Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!

Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.

We love y’all!

Hi..my name is Barb Duncan and I still have the Zippered KJV Bible that my mom gave me for Easter when I was 10 years old in 1970. My latest favorite version is the ESV, but I also like the Common English Bible too. Thanking God for Bible websites with so many different versions! Thanks for doing this!

My favorite Bible is my NIV given to me by my parents. Mine is like yours, falling apart and I have thought about using duct tape. Ironically our pastor just switched to the HCSB.

For me, it was my first Bible as a brand new creature in Christ…..at age 24! Ryrie Study Bible, NAS. Even though I no longer use it, I still have it along with the TONS of notes written on page after page after page. It’s a great reminder of the first few years of being in love with my Jesus.

    Stephanie Dumire says:

Stephanie Dumire – my favorite Bible is the first Bible my dad bought when he was saved. He wrote on the inside cover the date he accepted Christ as his savior in big bold letters. You can see the excitement in his handwritting. Inside the back pages is a list of dates that each member of our family was saved and then baptized. Praise God, it is a complete list! He went on to use it in semenary and then for the first years that he preached. It is water-damaged because one night a man from our church came to the house late, he couldn’t stand the conviction of not being saved another night. My dad led him to the Savior standing outside by our car. Dad was so excited he forgot his Bible on the trunk and it rained that night. We bought him another Bible to preach from, but that water-soaked Bible is precious.

Christy Vines. My favorite bible is whatever one I am currently using and marking the pages. As of right now it is a NIV study bible. In the past a NLT Life Recovery Bible, NKJ MacArthur Study Bible, NIV Teen Study Bible, etc. It is so refreshing an inspiring to go back through old bibles and see the journey that God was carrying me through using the pages of His word.

My name is Joy Brown and my favorite Bible is my dad’s KJV. It is tattered, torn and tear-stained from almost 70 years of walking with His Savior and daily reading His Word. He is 86 years old and has lived God’s Word for me to see. Thankful for my godly heritage.

    Penny Pierce says:

Bless you. My poor bible is getting flat worn out and the book of Genesis is missing the creation account (I still have the pages, just not attached)! I didn’t have a Precious Moments bible because my family didn’t attend church. I have several -KJV, NKJV, NASB, etc., but my favorite is the one that is falling apart and was given to me by the love of my life and best friend when we moved to Alabama — and now that we are in Arizona, in a new church and on a new adventure in a new season of life.

    Viola Dodd says:

My name is Viola Dodd. My favorite bible is my TNIV, Today’s New International Version. It has about a 2 inch column on each page to take notes and is full of bible study notes, sermon notes and several Beth Moore Conferences…priceless. A while back I got a hot pink NIV Life Application Study Bible and I really like it too!!!!

    Lynette Eeg says:

Lynette Eeg – my very favorite Bible is the one I received when I was confirmed in the Methodist church in 1976. I didn’t read it in earnest until I was saved in the fall of 1981. I couldn’t get enough of God’s Word! I read that Bible until it fell apart (but I still have it). I highlighted & underlined scripture, and made lots of notes. I liked that all of Jesus’ words were in red ink. I’m currently using the Full Life Study Bible, which I’ve had for over 15 years. It is falling apart now, too!

I’d have to say that my favorite Bible is the one my husband bought for me and had my name engraved on the cover. Just previous to that day, I had gotten a new driver’s license for his birthday on which I had changed my middle name back to my middle name instead of using my maiden name as my middle name. My family had kept maiden names as middle names once married, but his family did things differently. It had always hurt him a little but he almost never mentioned it. Anyway, for his birthday that year I was finally ready and changed my name. Very shortly after he gave me my first Bible since things had changed in our lives. Engraved in a beautiful script it says, “Sarah Bethany Bell.” It’s not a favorite Bible for the translation, but for the heart from which it was given! <3

    Kim B. says:

Kim Barrett 🙂 My FAVORITE Bible is the one my mom bought for me back in 1998. It is a regular American Standard one that is completely FALLING APART! I am sooo hesitant to buy a new one as I love flipping through all the highlighted, coffee stained, pen scribbled (my son Konner wanted to do his own highlighting:) pages! BUT…winning this Bible would force me to keep my falling apart one at home & start personalizing a new one.

    Jo Lillig says:

    Dear Sisters,
I have to tell you how happy I am to be HERE. It has been a year now since God just plain came and got me, took me back as HIS! It was quite a moment, I tell you, and I immediately called my sister and openly wept for the sweetness of it, still do! She welcomed me back from my 45 year meander deeper and deeper into the desert called ME/MINE, back from a massive depression, back from the long, painful absence of me from my God and promptly sent me a paperback NIV then started me out reading John then Acts… I read the whole thing this year past, couldnt put it down! I tell you I ate that little Bible up! And I’m still hungry. Now it is time to move on to my grown up Bible and, like Beth, this is a hard parting for me. So here I am, entering this drawing. I would love to peruse this Holman! We’ll see what happens! My sister, Lois, and Beth have been lifelines for me, I’ve done Breaking Free (I highly recommend it!) and am working through James now. God is so good to me, I am so grateful. Thank you for letting me talk about this so openly! Never forget, HE knows the end from the beginning. Thank you Beth, Lindsee and the LPM Blog! Psalm 116, all of it, every word. Jo Lillig

    Paula Brahan says:

My favorite Bible for sentimental reasons is my grandmother’s Bible. She passed away 3 years ago this January and she was a perfect example of a Southern godly woman. She felt more like my mamma than my grandmother – she’d often say, “I just KNOW I gave birth to you!”. At any rate, I miss her immensely but am so grateful my mother gave me her Bible. I love opening it up (it still smells like her house) and seeing her handwriting where she scribbled notes during her weekly Bible studies under the teachings of her best friend (both lived into their 90’s).
Although she was a King James woman all the way, my personal Bible is a hardback “Daily Walk” New Living Translation Bible. I’m filling it up with my own scribbles and hope someone’s glad to have it when I’m gone!

Just got a smart phone in dec and am loving it! Plus I work with youth and they are always ahead in techno department!
