(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
What perfect timing! I’ve been thinking I need a new Bible lately – mine just turned 20 years old and is falling apart.
My name is Gretchen Corette. Hey, if I don’t win, any chance you could let us know where we purchase that Bible? It sounds perfect.
Blessings to you!
Hello, My name is Stephanie Tausch. I have a Celebrate Recovery bible that I enjoy every much and am quite attached too. The only thing is there is a tug of war over it. See my husband gave it to me as a gift. I believe he really wanted it for himself because every time I go to use it all my markers are rearranged. While this can be fun at times I think he would really enjoy this bible to “share” with me. I can just see him now going to mens bible study with a Beth Moore engraved media bible.
God Bless You All As You Spend This Time In Australia.
Hi! My name is Tara Dew, and I was just praying this week about which new Bible to get for this new season of life 🙂 It’s hard to part with my other one (the NIV Study Bible) with all my underlinings and notes, but it’s time. This is a fun giveaway!
I love the New American Standard Version!!!!
Hi, my name is Jeannette Dotson. And my favorite bible is the NIV Chronological Study Bible.
I just now have started taking notes in my new NASB study bible. But I would love to win this bible so I may give it to a lady at church. She normally sits in front of me on Sunday nights and I shake her hand, but do not know her name. I have noticed that she has a Gideon Bible she brings with her. Now I have nothing against the Gideons but would love to give her a more in depth bible. Thanks for the opportunity to win this bible.
I love my NIV Study Bible and am in the same boat as Lindsee. I need a new one but having trouble parting with the old one. Too many notes in the margins that I would miss! On the other hand, I would love to be able to use this one with my smart phone. How cool!

The one I used from age 8 to 18 was called The Adventure Bible. The incredibly 1990s-esque cover is completely severed, but just within the past few months I pulled that Bible back out and began using it again. There’s a comfort level I have with it. When you spend every night before bed with a particular Bible and lug it to church camps every summer, it’s like a close friend. And the comments I wrote in the margins are highly entertaining. They’re proof the Lord has brought me a long way!
I love that you called out the Precious Moments Bible too. We had one of those in our house. 🙂

Bibles in general are my favorite “study book” All kinds 🙂
Don’t necessarily have a favorite Bible. Have different versions for different studies. May be a little partial to the one that lists the family births, marriages and deaths. So thankful for The Word!
My name is Jessica Cooper. I am new to reading the Bible. I was invited to join a Bible study class this month featuring “Beth Moore” and I am so inspired by her!! She makes me want to learn and grow and understand the Word! I have been using the “you version app” on my smart phone during her lessons each week. I would feel honored to own this study bible knowing it was given to me by the person who inspires me to study more and truly create a relationship (not a religion) with Christ! Thanks, Beth!! I don’t know how to say thanks enough! Hugs.
Christa Williams – I’m liking the NET Bible online that Beth has talked about. Thanks!
My name is Brooke Rogness. My favorite bible so far is my NIV Archaeological Study Bible. I have been contemplating a different version, and now after hearing Beth use HCSB occasionally, I’ve been interested in checking it out more.
I LOVE THE WORD! I have a Bible that is very special to me. It is my Criswell Study Bible that is signed by the legendary pastor from First Baptist Dallas, TX – Dr. W.A. Criswell himself. Underneath he wrote the reference Isaiah 40:8. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever.” AMEN!
I was attending a pastor’s conference with my husband at FBC Dallas back a long time ago and as we were walking through the parking garage after one of the services, a car backed out and almost hit me. The driver stepped out to apologize and it was Dr. Criswell! I assured him I was fine and asked him to please sign my Bible! I love that memory. 🙂

Wow!! Worth the near bodily harm, huh? 🙂
Tiffany Morse
My favorite bible has been the Keyword Study Bible
I am so excited about this Bible, look forward to checking it out=)
Love you girls!
Cindy Staaden
My favorite Bible is all of them. I’m currently reading thru The Message.
Hard to choose a favorite. I have two I use most: NIV (for Beth Moore studies) and the NASB (for Precepts studies. I also really like my Archeological Study Bible but that thing is heavy!
I grew up using the KJV version. Now I prefer NIV…..but I also get a kick out of The Message! It sounds like I am sitting around a table with my girl friends! HA This year I am also using my YouVersion on my IPhone. I am doing a “one-year” plan with that every morning.
heather vanhanxleden–i love my new NET study bible–i always hear Beth quote it so i had to get me one!
Jo-Ann Vernon
My favorite is a the NIV/Message study Bible that my hubby purchased for me.
Kathy Hopper Canada
My FAVOURITE Bible was the Insight for Living Bible with Chuck Swindoll, out of print now- it fell apart but I still refer to it with its many great notes and my added outlines in back of it. My LATEST FAVOURITE is my current one Womens Praying Bible with Stormie Omartian. The Lord has given me a passion for prayer, time to pray, (often praying our memory verses over others), and a desire to study about prayer -I have a gazillion ! books on the subject with many outlines and lists of verses of what and how to pray.
My Christian Book Store does not stock HCSB as I have asked for it since studying with Beth Moore’s Studies. What a joy, honour, and privilege that she would want to share this new Bible with one of the siestas. Thank You. I will be praying for the recipient to be the Lords Choice and Delight. And praying for Beth and Amanda ministering in Australia.
Dianne Pacewicz
My favorite Bible is The Message. This is the translation that I am using to memorize James out of. Can’t wait until tomorrow! This is so fun!
I am so glad to know Mama Beth and amanda are doing well. will continue to pray God keeps them rested and moves in Sydney. As for bibles I love my Women of Faith study bible…when I needed a new one…I bought that one again as I was so attached to the first one.
Blessins Siestas
Tammy Schroeder
Katie Guillot – and my most loved bible is my small leather bound NIV that I carry in my purse so I always have it with me.
my fave is a Daily Walk NIV Bible with commentary by Bruce Wilkinson (Prayer of Jabez). love it. peach juice stain and all.
Lori Blackburn. I’m currently using a 30-year-old basic NIV that is special for one reason–it survived an EF5!
My most favorite Bible I ever owned was my Teen Study Bible. My parents got it for me right after I accepted Christ. It’s full of notes and highlighter markings. I got a new womens Bible when I turned 21 and many years later, its still the 1 I use. It’s falling apart and I desperately need a new one.
Sheryle Sandy – my favorite Bible is my NAS given to me as a going away present the summer before my senior year in high school by my dearest friends. (I was moving) They all wrote and signed their names in the front. I still have it and cherish those fun times we shared together at church and as kid counselors at GABC Day Camp!! 🙂
My favorite bible is NIV Study Bible my husband gave me before my mission trip to Mexico in 1992. It was well loved that week and continues to be. I feel so blessed to be able to have God’s Word, some of God’s people will never own their own.
Judy Lineback…my favorite Bible is the NIV life application study Bible. This Bible really helps me when there are versus I don’t understand and has helped me in this way for years.
I like my NIV Bible.
Dawn Winslow
I love my ESV Bible and also my digital Bibles.
Jenn Tousey
My favorite bible is the old, gray NIV study Bible my mom gave me years ago. It has been to several continents with me, and it is also falling apart. It’s from before the age of the thinline, and it seems so gigantic now!
Lisa Krumm – favorite NIV but I loved it to death so now I have a NLT and am doing the same.
Caroline Reid- My favorite Bible is the ESV Study Bible. The transportation of this massive Bible can be a bit cumbersome, but it is filled with wonderful notes that allow me to dig deeper into the Word!
New Application Study Bible. That’s what I use the most. BUT I have my dad’s Bible and the Bible I received in 3rd grade…both KJV. So precious.
Rebecca Tyndall
My favorite Bible is the Spirit Filled Bible in the NKJV! 🙂
My favorite is a parallel Bible with NASB on one side and the Amplified on the other. I love the way the amplified just unfolds the meaning of a word…rounds it out into something 3D.
Thanks,
Beth Moss
Phyllis Timme
My favorite Bible is The Open Bible in the New American Standard version.
Just finished the James Bible Study. Thank you for all you do!
My name is Lisa Vinyard and my favorite Bible is my NIV life application study Bible. I have
had it since 2008. It has all my notes and underlining from many years ago. It took a long time to recopy a lifetime from two other Bibles. It would be hard to part with it, but I would enjoy comparing it to a new translation.
I’m totally due for a new one. My old NIV is falling apart. It was a gift from an old Sunday School teacher about 20 years ago 🙂
Used to love the NIV (and still do), but have a new favorite, the ESV.
My first bible was King James. The first bible I understood was the NIV. ;)Looking forward to comparing these with my new HCSB!!
Joy Goley – I use the NIV Life Application Bible. It’s the only one I’ve ever read through completely. It’s the one I used when I fell in love with Jesus.
I have a thinline KJV with cross references and many personal notes that is my favorite, but my ESV study Bible I also love.
I also have a NLT chronological Bible that is great, too. I read this a lot before bed. It is easy to read.
P.S. I do not have a HCSB. (grin)
Stephanie Starke – I like to use all different kinds of translations.
Debbie Sanford,
My favorite Bible is a very old King James, red letter Bible that my great-grandmother read. The pages are worn and almost falling out. I value the legacy of Christian women in my family.
Eleanor Wehrman—my favorite study Bible is the NIV Study Bible I’ve used for several years now.
My favorite version of late is the ESV. Although I do love, love, love any study Bible. God bless you all!!
I have two versions that I like……first one is the NASV ( do my studing from this one ) and the Amplified for reading. My husband calls this the women’s bible because it contains so many words.
Lyndsey Eshelman – My fav is my NIV Study bible… just enough commentary to fill in a little more detail, but not so much that its 40 lbs to carry around all the time! 😀
