(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
I love my Quest bible (NIV). In the margins, questions about the Scriptures are answered. It is amazing!!!
Lori Trenasty from Austin, Texas
I am a newbie to studying in depth my Bible. I started three years ago in the NIV Study Bible, thanks to the in depth notations that help break the Scriptures down. I have also found that I enjoy The Message translation and have noticed Beth’s new love of the HCSB in the James Study.
All my love and sincere gratitude to LPM. Peace.

I like the NIV Womens Devotional Bible given to me by a good friend whom I use to work with.
Thanks for the giveaway.

My favorite Bible is the ESV Study Bible. The notes in that Bible are fantastic and so helpful when studying.

I have a “ninja Bible” that I first got to take to my first Beth study with me as I’d just moved for my husband’s job and only packed a HUGE study Bible. It has more tape on it than paper, I think, and green Sharpie in Acts from when I did the Paul study and the fan blew the page into the marker I was using for the map in the back. But it’s tiny and fits in my purse!
My long time favorite was my NIV Life Application bible. I still return to it for notes at times. These days I LOVE using the YouVersion on my Ipad. I can run all over with our Siesta Mamma in her studies!
Natasha Hoffman- As a kid my mom crossstitched me a cover for my bible it had lots of maps in it (It was mesmerizing) with the maps and metallic thread. As an adult I like the New Century Version for general reading and the new interpreter’s study bible for study. I have learned as an adult that it is good to read different translations. Such a great giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win.
I’m in college, getting my degree in Biblical and Theological Studies, and the deeper we study, the more Bibles I discover. Last week, we started a new session with the NRSV as a required text. It’s proving interesting, but I keep going back to the New Century Version I used to study James.
Thank you for the contest. Praying for Beth, Amanda and everyone at the conference – may God move mightily.
I love my Life Application Study Bible!
🙂
God bless you Siestas

Leah Baughn – Indeed, one of my favorite Bibles has been the Precious Moments Bible that I’ve shared with my 3 children as they were growing up. I still have it tucked away for future precious grandchildren.
My favorite Bible is the Parallel NIV/MESSAGE. I also like the YouVersion app for my phone. You can download different versions to your phone. You should check it out if you haven’t already. xoxo
Linda Ryan, my favorite Bible is the Living Bible that came out in the early 1970’s. It’s falling apart from age but I still enjoy it.
My favorite is my ESV from Crossway. It is bound in hot pink with a vine design. I’ve had it through a divorce, a trip to South Africa, a remarriage and a birth. I’ve also taped it together with hot pink duct tape, but the cover was upside down! Ah, postpartum brilliance. (I also have my Precious Moments NKJV squirreled away on the shelf.)
Niv at home and you version on my phone agree serving me well
I have several Bibles but my favorite is the Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible. It was given to me by a close friend when I was suffering from clinical depression years ago.
The pages are water stained from the thousands of tears I shed while reading it. Through scribbled notes and highlighted paragraphs I memorized more Scripture from this Bible than any other.
Whenever I look at it, I’m reminded of how Jesus healed me of depression and restored my joy!
Leah DiPascal
Lynda Rickey- What a wonderful thing to be giving away. My favorite Bible is my current one. It is green with a tiger lily on the front. It is the perfect size and there is enough space to underline key verses. An added bonus is that it is just so pretty! I love running my hands flat over the pages, soothes me. Of course, so the words!
WooHoo how exciting! A give-away! It’s hard to say which of my Bibles is my favorite….I have two Bibles that were given to me….The Living Bible from my mama and a gorgeous leather-bound KJV from my sister-in-law (both of whom are now deceased.) Then I have my Women of Faith NIV Study Bible and my NRSV Life Application Bible. I guess right now my fave is the Women of Faith Bible. I could surely use another! LOL. Love you Lindsee! –Sandy Bowers
Melissa Robertson – NIV is my favorite. I’m sure I have my Precious Moments Bible around here somewhere. 🙂
Aimee Elftmann
My favorite Bible for myself is my NIV life application Bible. My mom gave it to me for my 18th birthday, and when I went away to college, my faith in Jesus became my own, so it is very special to me.
My favorite Bible to read with my girls (age 2 and 4) is the Jesus Storybook Bible. We read it together most days, and it is just awesome. Any moms of little ones out there should check it out if you’re looking for a great children’s Bible.
I love this blog, and all of you ladies. I don’t comment often, but whenever I read the blog and comments, I am so encouraged by this group of women! Can’t wait to meet you all in person in heaven someday 🙂
I really enjoy the NLT. But I often find myself going back to my tried and true, duct-taped NIV that has been with me for years!
I just have a NIV study application Bible that I’ve had for years! It has become a very close friend, but it would be wonderful to make friends with a new one!
Name is Lauren black (oops!)

Hands down, my favorite Bible is the Key Word Bible. I love diving back into the original words!
I’ve always used the NIV Study Bible. Maybe it’s time for a new version. lol
My favorite bible is my Keyword Study bible with Hebrew and Greek! It is definitely hard to start using a new bible but it’s so exciting 🙂
Lindsey Fescoe – my favorite Bible is my leather bound NIV my husband got me last year!!
Di Easler- my favorite study Bible is the Life Application NIV- I have learned so much using this Bible. My other favorite is an NIV, without the study edition, but I have duct taped it with Zebra tape and the pages are falling out, but I love it!!
My favorite bible is my pink mom’s bible.
Love my niv life application bible…used it until the covers fell off!
My favorite bible is my pocket sized NIV Bible given to me on my wedding day by my amazing husband 12 years ago. I hope to pass it on to my daughter some day…perhaps on her wedding?!
Great idea for the giveaway! Amy Clarkson
Hi! My name is Jill Winter, and my favorite bible is my Quest Study Bible – it is a paperback completely covered with packing tape. My pages are literally dog-eared because my puppy chewed away a few corners out of Ephesians – ha, ha!
Lisa Brass and my favorite bible is the Soul Care Bible, NKJV. Mine is paperback and well used, could use some TLC. Maybe some pink duct tape, LOL.
My favorite bible is Max Lucado’s Devotional Bible.
Shana Farmer
Not really sure of a favorite…. Ive always thought that I’d love to have my Mom’s someday… just to read all her underlines and notes and such.
Other than that, I guess it would be the regular NIV study bible. Thats what I’ve been using
I like the NIV. but the YouVersion on my phone is the one I use most. I like that I can easily change versions to get a well rounded understanding.
Hi All!
My sister who prayed me into the kingdom gave me both my bibles that I have ever owned. My favourite is the first one because she gave it to me BEFORE I was saved, knowing that one day I would be. I read almost that whole thing and marked it up well. It is the Woman’s Devotional Bible (pink and perfect size!).
Stephanie Techau-I have been thinking I need a new Bible as mine is beginning to fall apart. How fun it would be to win one! My favorite is the NIV Life Application Study Bible.

Beth Poppen- I really like my Life Application Study Bible (NLT) but love the idea of one that works with my smartphone. 🙂
My favorite Bible is the first Bible I bought myself when I was 15 or 16…red NASB version, underlined, highlighted, dog earred….
I know it’s oldschool, but I really enjoy the Amplified bible right now, next would be NIV then the Message.
I love my Life Application Bible (NIV), it has been through a lot raising three girls, lots of tears, praises and very marked up. Love my ESV also. I am trying to mark up and write notes in three of them so that when I am with my Jesus, my girls will have my Bibles to read, pray with and get the blessing that I have received. P.S. they have been through all the Beth Moore studies too, (except for the James study, will do soon)
OOOOPPS! Ronda Ferguson
Karen Edlund
I “do life” with two bibles — my long-favorite NIV study bible and my NLT bible. Comparing the two translations helps me understand scriptures a lot more!
I find I go through seasons with which translation is my favorite. But I guess I’d choose the Amplified Bible overall or maybe my NIV since it what nourished me as a “baby”. Corrie Shirey 🙂
